Do you really want me to be bringing my whining into this?

Feena wrote:Who's your favourite Doctor? Mine is Tom Baker (my era) closely followed by DT. Pat Troughton is third, it's such a shame there aren't more of his adventures left.
SithLordWiccan wrote:I was planning to get it, but I've heard so many awful things about "Warriors of the Deep." Then again, I read a review where one person thought it was absolutely smashing, so what do I know? I'll definitely be getting "Doctor Who and the Silurians", though. Of the three, that's the one that holds my interest the most.
Checking out Outpost Gallifrey, it seems like we got lots of Classic Who coming up. Invasion of Time, The Time Meddler and Brain of Morbius, along with The Invisible Enemy and K-9 and Company, and, what I'm personally looking forward to, The Trial of a Time Lord.
Having really come into the new series, I'd have to say that DT and CH are my favorite Doctors. I like Tom Baker, of course (everyone who calls themselves a Who fan does), and from what I've seen, Peter Davison is pretty good, too. William Hartnell's okay, but then again I'm only really judging him on the first three stories and not on later work (except for The Tenth Planet, but he really wasn't in that much) and Colin Baker gets too much of a bad wrap (and I'm not just saying that because I happen to be online friends with one of his kids.) McCoy's probably right after DT and CH, and I really wish that I had the opportunity to watch McGann back when the TV movie aired (ironically, the DWTM was filmed up here in Vancouver, and actually aired here before either FOX or the BBC showed it.)
Feena wrote:I think Silurians is such an interesting story, it makes a change from yet another alien invasion tale. Sea Devils has that great shot of them walking out of the sea. I'll be watching Warriors soon so I'll let you know what I think about it
Feena wrote:It seems that over the last few years DVDs are being released more often. I guess the increased interest means that more people are likely to buy them, especially 'new' fans. I've quite a few recorded from the TV but I love the commentaries and on-screen production notes so I'll still be buying Morbius
Feena wrote:And of course Dalek Invasion of Earth is a classic.
Feena wrote:I think it's a real shame CB left before he had a chance to explore his incarnation of the Doctor.
Feena wrote:I like the Movie, I don't care about the half-human thing, I just enjoy it all.
Feena wrote:I didn't realise that about the movie, that's not fair. I'm not getting the 'Davros' set because I've already got most of them on DVD.
Feena wrote:Has Troughton's Invasion been released over there yet? They've animated the missing episodes and after the first couple of minutes I didn't even notice! It was animated by Cosgrove Hall who did Amber's Ghosts of Albion online.

Feena wrote:Apparently they're bringing out a Sontaran Collection as well, which is a bit of a waste as the DVDs are already out singularly. I'm sure it's a complete coinicidence and not at all linked with S4
Feena wrote:I think I'm going to watch The Dalek Invasion of Earth just to see how they did it in t'olden days.
Gatito Grande wrote:S4 coming to the US on April 18!

Feena wrote:I've been looking at the 'Canada Broadcasting' thread on OG, there's lots of talk of hockey. No date at all, someone mentioned either June or September but that's just guesswork. Sorry it's not better news.

First appearances can be deceptive, as students of the Whoniverse know only too well. When Catherine Tate’s bolshy runaway bride Donna Noble was introduced in the 2006 Christmas special, it seemed like a good (one-off) idea. But the thought of stomaching her brassiness for an entire 13-part run as the Doctor’s new companion seemed too much to grin and bear.
But the surprisingly good news is...it works! Billie Piper’s Rose Tyler and Freema Agyeman’s Martha Jones were all very well with their comely sultriness and sexual chemistry, but traditionally the Time Lord can have no truck with such girlishness when there are entire worlds and races to be saved.
Donna nails her colours to the mast towards the end of the opening episode of season four, penned by series creator Russell T Davies, when the Doctor admits that ‘with Martha it got complicated’. ‘I’m not having any of that nonsense,’ roars Donna. ‘You’re just a long streak of alien nothing.’
It’s a witty, at times borderline daft, scene-setter, but the laugh count, notably the silent comedy exchange between Tate and David Tennant when their characters meet again, remains consistently high. Factor in Sarah Lancashire’s power-dressed villain and the cutest monsters (blubber-baby aliens) the show has ever seen, and it’s another winner for Russell T and the gang.

Donna and the Doctor don't meet durng the first part of the episode, the moment when they do is very funny
Feena wrote:Well it's probably no shock to anyone to learn that I loved Partners in Crime! I know some people really disliked it, and I've got a feeling that you might not like it much, SLW.
SithLordWiccan wrote:I haven't actually had a chance to watch it yet, but I've seen one little bit that triggers my Red Alert button. (Yes, Donna is involved, but no, she's not the cause.)
