Well at least this and AfterEllen article show once agian what an idiot Kristen/Wanda is.

I swear that woman traffics in so many lies, half-truths and out-right fabrications just to support her own ego you would think she was a member of the Bush administration.

Oh Wanda was so vague, she can now claim she was referring to someone else altogether. If I say someone in Hollywood is in the closet and gay, I am absolutely correct.

I must say I still find it odd that this thing could have gotten so big before anyone from the Marcia Cross camp would come out (har har) and deny it, assuming that denial is authentic, heheh.

Because this is a Gossip/Rumor thread, I feel every justification for shamelessly passing on the following (from someone I know on another board):

Quote:
I can't say that I truly believed the denial...mostly because these rumors have been flying since Cross' "Melrose" days and because someone I'm familiar with who lives in L.A. and who seems to be a trustworthy gal says that she used to see Ms. Cross at Girl Bar all the time and that she didn't hide her sexuality then.

Drea de Matteo Comes Out as Bisexual

Postby Warduke » Wed Feb 16, 2005 3:29 pm

From AfterEllen...

Quote:
Drea de Matteo, the former Sopranos actress now starring on the NBC sitcom Joey, has come out as bisexual in a new interview with UK newspaper Britain Sport Daily, revealing that she occasionally hooks up with her female friends.

"I love men and they're who I go out with," she said in the interview, "but every now and then - well I can't say I've never been with a woman."

De Matteo is currently in a relationship with actor Tim Giblin, and revealed in the interview that she also hopes to start a family soon, but doesn't plan on getting married. "I can't imagine ever spending more than seven years with someone," she told the British newspaper, adding that she is fine with being a single mother. "Look at Angelina Jolie. If she can do it, I can do it."

With this revelation, de Matteo joins a growing number of actresses who have publicly acknowledged being attracted to and sexually involved with women, while at the same time indicating a preference for dating men.

De Matteo won an Emmy last year for her role on The Sopranos; besides Joey, she can currently be seen in the movie Assault on Precinct 13. She also had a prominent role in the indie lesbian-themed film Prey for Rock 'n Roll.

From AfterEllen...

PORTIA COMES OUT IN DETAIL
Portia de Rossi talks semi-candidly for the first time about being gay in a new interview in the May issue of Details magazine. "I think that if we really look back and trace it, I was definitely always gay," she told the magazine. "I didn’t have a lot of relationships with men, but it didn’t occur to me that I could live as a gay woman. I certainly never denied it, and I never altered my lifestyle or my life to try and avoid the questions, but I didn't realize how uncomfortable I was with it until now." Hmm. It didn't occur to me that an interview with a men's magazine would be the place to finally come out, but you have to give her props for acknowledging her discomfort.

PUTTING THE "L" IN CANOODLING
Are The L Word's Kate Moennig and Portia's ex Francesca Gregorini the "new lesbian power couple?" That's the question posed by the New York Post's gossip column Page Six, after the two women reportedly "canoodled" a few nights ago at a party for Paper magazine's "Beautiful People" issue at the Roosevelt Hotel in L.A. for Paper magazine's "Beautiful People" issue, in "full view of guests, including Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas, Matthew Perry and Tori Spelling."

Several days earlier, Page Six reported that reformed bad-girl Tatum O'Neal was drunk and "making out" with a woman she picked up at a New York bar, but O'Neal later disputed the claim, saying "I was with my friend and she got a little crazy, that's all." Was the friend Kristy McNichol, by any chance? I'm just asking.

Again from AfterEllen...

New York Post columnist Liz Smith is reporting this week that Ellen and girlfriend Portia de Rossi have just purchased the Beverly Hills home owned by Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Smith writes "Aniston reportedly came down a bit from her $20 million-plus asking price because she was happy that the place she and Brad had bought two years ago would be Ellen and Portia's first home as a couple."

This came up on a recent thread (on the Kitten) about the Tony Awards:

[I've copied it out of a column---syndicated, I think---out of my local gay rag, called "Filth", by Billy Masters]

I can now reveal that the blind item in the April 4th installment of "Filth" was about Cherry Jones and Sarah Paulson. At the time, not only was the couple not "out," Miss Paulson wasn't, either. Although many people in the theatre community knew of this pairing (the ladies met during the filming of "Swimmers"), both Cherry and Sarah turned down requests to go on the record. And yet, the galpals kissed on national television when Cherry won her Tony. To make the matter clear, Jones used her acceptance speech to thank her paramour (cryptically referring to Sarah as "Laura Wingfield," her character in "The Glass Managerie").

Here's Sarah Paulson's IMDB listing:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005299/ (I actually think she's cuter than the picture on this site. SP was one of the best things about the movie Down With Love)

GG While Cherry Jones is a treasure: has been out for years, and her career has only gotten better and better! Out

Supermodel bounty hunter found dead

Supermodel bounty hunter found dead
By Chris Ayres
30jun05
SHE was the daughter of a famous actor, became a supermodel in New York and then a socialite in Beverly Hills. She even inspired a Hollywood movie.

For British-born Domino Harvey, however, beauty, wealth and stardom went horribly wrong.

When pulled out of a bath in West Hollywood on Monday night, presumed drowned, she was facing life in jail on charges of drug dealing, crossing state lines for unlawful activity and having property that was used in or obtained through criminal activity.

The charges, filed in the city of Gulfport, Mississippi, were the result of a bizarre change in career for Harvey, who was 35 at the time of her death.

The former catwalk star and daughter of Oscar-nominated Laurence Harvey had become a bounty hunter - a mercenary who hunted outlaws for the price on their heads.

Lieutenant Don Mauldin, of West Hollywood Sheriff's station, said: "We got a call ... saying possibly a person had drowned in a bathtub. A friend or relative had called 911 from the house for paramedics. She was found in the bathtub."

The Los Angeles coroner is expected to perform toxicology tests on the body to see if drugs were involved.

"The hospital reported to us they suspected a drug overdose," a spokesman for the coroner said.

Tony Scott, the action film director who decided to turn Harvey's career into a Hollywood blockbuster - starring Keira Knightley as Domino, with other parts taken by Christopher Walken, Mickey Rourke and Jacqueline Bisset - had already been forced to reshoot the ending to incorporate the charges against her.

Now Scott may have to return to the editing room to include Harvey's tragic death. There will also be pressure to make the film truer to life and explain how she became a bounty hunter and accused drug dealer.

In the film's trailer, which has already been released, Knightley fires a .50-calibre machinegun and says: "My name is Domino Harvey, I am ... a bounty hunter. What I say will determine whether or not I spend the rest of my life in prison."

She recently said of the film: "I think the whole concept of the story, the whole idea of this girl who's from an extremely privileged background who completely turns her back on all of it and goes off on this wild path, is an extraordinary idea in itself."

Harvey, a lesbian, had expressed disappointment she was portrayed as heterosexual in the film.

Friends and family gathered in tears at her West Hollywood home yesterday. It is thought Harvey would have been forced to sell the property to pay the $US1million ($1.3million) bail in her drugs case.

I posted about this before somewhere on the board. I had posted about Domino not being happy about the character being straight, but then I found this at AfterEllen...

NEXT WEEK'S RUMOR: MARCIA CROSS DATING DOMINO HARVEY

A British gossip columnist made headlines this week with the story citing "friends" of Domino Harvey--the model-turned-bounty hunter being portrayed by Keira Knightley in an upcoming movie based on her life--who said that Harvey was furious with being de-gayed in the movie. Maybe he should have actually talked to Harvey: turns out she isn't even gay, as she recently told columnist Liz Smith.

Image OMG! Are you serious?!? Patricia Routledge?!? Wow.

I love Keeping Up Appearances (I named my dog Onslow!) and those Hetty Wainthropp things (I'd forgotten that Dominic Monaghan was on those). Wow. Hyacinth Bucket is a big ol' dyke?!? You know...that actually might explain some things... :lol Awesome! I'll never watch that show the same again. Wow.

I looked at the cache of that datalounge bit. Nothing definitive. Seems like speculation. Of course, you can't trust what folks say on imdb or datalounge, but...it's still scrumptious.

Ironically, one of the butchest screen characters is not a dyke at all, although you could be fooled by the way she stomps around. The Eastenders matriarch is acted by real life lesbian Pam St Clements, who is glamorous and femme, not butch at all. Confused?

Pat Butcher wouldn't be out of place in Bad Girls or Prisoner : Cell Block H.

I came across a fan-based website for Clea Duvall. She has appeared in Carnivale, But I'm a Cheerleader, and was the invisible girl on BTVS.

There are pictures of her dozen or so tattoos. One of these read "I (heart) Marcy."

A picture taken later shows that tattoo covered over by a tat of a black ball.

The webmaster identifies Marcy as a member of a band called Patsy that Clea used to go out with.

I noticed the other day that Jorja Fox's official site now has a recording of her singing a song she apparently wrote herself. It's called Satellite and it's first few lines are:
"I met a girl, she turned my world
upside down
Met a girl, she blew my mind
Everything feels fine".

Hmmm, makes me wonder....

I am happy to stand corrected, but I don't think that she has ever commented either way. Most people seem to assume (including recent National Enquirier reporters) that she is, but proof is elusive. There are lots of comments on her site about same-sex marriages, but I am as good as the next woman at reading way too much into things like that!

However, I am willing to waste large amounts of drool on the woman, whether I will ever have a chance with her or not! Because her orientation is the only thing standing between us, obviously.....*skips away into her own little fantasy land, determined not to look back at the people laughing at her*

Am I really the only gossip here? I guess so.

I really want to take this as proof of the thing we have all known/hoped for a while....

From AfterEllen

L'FAUX PAS
Jennifer Beals appears to have outed fellow L Word star Katherine Moennig in a new interview with The Advocate in which she says she considers it a compliment that a studio exec thought she was bisexual, because "oftentimes I will go [to] Leisha or Kate or Ilene or Rose Troche and ask, 'OK, is this the right thing to do? Is this not the right thing to do? Am I going to seem like a total chump if I do this?'"

Uh, Jennifer? Any mistakes you might make during filming are the least of the show's problems so far this season. Seriously.

You're not the only gossip, Candleshoe, I'm right there with you. Just don't have much else to say about these folks, but I read with lots of interest. Also, the Jennifer Beals quote was in the Advocate too (I guess AfterEllen.com was quoting that interview with her?) and I noticed it also and thought - I didn't know what Katherine M-can't-spell-her-last-name-and-am-too-lazy-to-look-it-up-clearly-since-I-took-the-time-to-write-this-long-hyphenated-monstrosity was gay, bi, or out if she was. Heh.

ETA: also, some of the threads in the message boards of IMDB.com when people speculate about who is gay or not (Sally Hawkins comes to mind) are hilarious. Heh.

I agree that the IMDB speculations are hilarious, Sally, and the sheer predictablility of the "Is s/he gay?", "Why does it matter, you moron?", "I'm not a moron", "Yes, you are", "No I'm not", "Yes, you are" exchange is wonderful. People don't seem to grasp that it doesn't matter at all, it is just interesting!

Speaking of gossip, what does everyone here make of the fact that Pink just got married . . . to a guy??? :crazy

GG I mean, WTF? Who does she think she's fooling? Out

Golden Globes-inspired gossip (I'm on a roll now! :devil):

Ang Lee thanking his wife? Huh? (I've thought he was gay since The Wedding Banquet---wasn't that supposed to be autobiographical?---and never had any reason to question that for 10+ years!) :wtf

Mary-Louise Parker's acceptance speech: like others, I've harbored certain "hunches" re M-LP, ever since Fried Green Tomatoes . . . the way she thanked Elizabeth Perkins certainly did nothing to change that! :eyebrow

And on the OUT-front, didn't Cynthia Nixon look absolutely drop-dead? :kiss (if she was there w/ her partner, though, the networks didn't show it... :rolleyes)

I am almost as disappointed about Pink as I am about Angelina...and talking of going nuts, don't get me started on Katie Holmes....

I think I knew about Ang Lee, and although I remember being surprised, I can't remember where I read it...

I love Mary-Louise Parker in FGT and Boys on the Side, but Mary Stuart Masterson will always have my heart...

I always got the bisexual vibe from Pink... and the extremely horny vibe. She always gives off that I'll-sleep-with-anything-that-breaths attitude. I think she always made out with chicks in public for the "shock value" and the publicity and because she was bored. I didn't really find it that surprising that she married the guy.

Apologies if this has been posted before, it's a fairly old interview...

John Barrowman on how he met his partner, why he wont get 'married', and his plans to start a family

Barrowman has been with his partner Scott Gill, an architect, for 14 years. Both of them, he says, want to have children (although Barrowman admits "I'm more keen than Scott is"), and have discussed adoption and surrogacy as potential options. A friend has offered to be a surrogate mother for the couple. "I'm best friends with her mother, and the woman herself has known me like a brother since she was five," says Barrowman. "We've spent many days and vacations together." Yet he is deliberately sketchy on the details. She's 28, American and a dental hygienist, and is married with one-year-old twins. Her husband has also given the green light to the plan. "She's said that when we're ready, just send her an e-mail," says Barrowman.

While he won't rule out adoption, it's clear he views surrogacy as the more appealing option. "I'd very much like to have a child of my own," he says. "Scott and I have talked about it and said that if we decide to use a surrogate mother, we would mix the sperm so we wouldn't actually know whose the child was and it would still be part of both of us." The only thing his friend has asked for in return, he says, is that he would take care of her mortgage while she was off work. "I said of course I would."

He and 42-year-old Gill, whom he describes as "looking like an Armani model", met when Barrowman was in a play at the Chichester Festival Theatre, shortly before his Live and Kicking debut. A mutual friend had coaxed Gill to the play by telling him that Barrowman was naked for the first seven minutes. "I always joke that he saw what he getting from the outset," the actor says. And it was love at first sight … well, almost.

"Scott came into the dressing room while I was getting dressed," says Barrowman. "I was bending over to pull my pants up, so the first thing he saw was my bare bum. Then I turned around and saw him. At that very instant, in my head, I said, 'That's him. That's the one.' And he says he was thinking the exact same thing."

Barrowman is open and relaxed when talking about his sexuality. "I've known I was gay since the age of eight or nine," he says. "Back then, though, it was more a feeling that there was something different about me than perhaps specifically knowing what that was. But what's the big deal? I'm 38, I work in musical theatre and I live with another guy. It's the 21st century: we're all human beings and individuals. If someone has a problem with it – well, they can go and piss off. I don't want to be around them."

That said, he was 22 before he came out to his parents, making a special trip to Illinois to break the news. "I don't want to say they were shocked – my mother turned to me and said she knew, and I think perhaps my dad knew too – but I think every parent is a little surprised. My dad said, 'I don't really understand it right now, but give me a little while to learn more about what you're telling me and I will.' He also said, 'It's absolutely fine with me, though, because what you do in the privacy of your own bedroom is your own business, just like what your mother and I do. We don't tell you about it.'"

Barrowman pauses, his eyes earnest. While he wears his heart on his sleeve, he also points out that, personally, he doesn't feel the need for deliberately public displays of sexuality. He is an ardent supporter of the Gay Pride movement and everything it stands for, but explains: "My parents have always brought us up to believe that sex and sexuality are something to be proud of, and you don't have to flaunt it if you don't want to. People don't walk around with a banner saying they're straight, so why should I walk around with one saying I'm gay? I understand there are people who want to and need to make that statement, and I appreciate that, but don't come down on me because I'm not one of them."

Gay marriage is another topic guaranteed to raise his hackles. "OK, this is where I get political," he says. "People keep asking me if I'm going to do it. The answer is no. I was brought up in a family which believed there was a God who created us. I believe that God created me this way for a reason and he's not a god who hates, dislikes or is against the way I live my life.

"That said, there is organised religion that says gay men and women are wrong, bad, evil – whatever you want to call it. So why would I want a 'marriage' from a belief system that hates me?"

I'm not sure that's technically gossip, but this definitely is...

John Barrowman 'too straight' for Will and Grace
:wtf Eric McCormack is straight! John is not straight... besides, he ice-dances! Is there anything more gay than that? (uh, that was a rhetorical question... :p ) Seriously, what were they thinking?!? :crazy :spin :smash

Something in the L Word thread about Katherine Moennig and how she's a private person made me think about this - not necessarily related to Katherine Moennig, but more generally.

When a celebrity who is rumored to be gay says he or she is a private person and please respect his/her privacy and neither confirms nor denies, 99.5% of the time that person is gay and closeted, or I guess if you want to insist, gay and "private." I can only think of one example of a celebrity who didn't confirm or deny and ended up being straight.

Anyway, I was thinking about the contrast between someone who is rumored to be gay and says they're a private person, and Jennifer Beals's interview in The Advocate. Jennifer Beals is probably one of the most private celebrities around, not even telling the interviewer the name of her dogs, yet she had no problem saying general things like "My husband and I..." It's not like the interviewer was asking whether she was straight or not, but the point is she's a private person and mentioned her husband.

I suppose the point is, it strikes me as a double standard. Even the most private of private people don't often say "My significant other..." - lots of celebrity interviews I read with private people like Alexis Bledel and many others say things like "I have a new boyfriend who is not in the business and I'd like to keep our relationship private." and they don't give their boyfriend's name. Thus keeping the relationship private, but not seeming to think that the gender of their partner is what needs to be part of the secret. (Unless it's a same-gender person, is my implication here, then they do).

The only celebrity I know of who didn't confirm or deny for a while and ended up being straight is Dar Williams, and she said it was because she didn't want her fans to feel alienated from the music and why should she need to claim heterosexuality even though it was rumored that she was gay? She said she felt that by doing that, at the time, it would imply that she thought there was something wrong with being gay, and she wasn't willing to do that. It was later when she met her soon-to-be-husband and they got engaged that she came out as straight, because hey, the cat was fairly well out of the bag then.

Of course, the New York Times printed an op-ed by someone, I forget who, that accused her and some other female folk singers of being deliberately vague or keeping the lesbian rumors swirling in order to not lose their lesbian fan base. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of - I WISH we dykes had that kind of purchasing power, first of all, and second, I seriously doubt any lesbian or bisexual women fans of Dar's or Shawn Colvin's or anyone else would stop going to concerts because they publically identified as straight.
