La Toya in the bottom three?!? Oh, hell no. Must vote more next week! That cannot happen again!

Thank you! American is just plain stupid. I mean, OK, so maybe you don't like the hair, but that girl has more talent in her pinky than most of the rest of the cast.

I loved Amy. If someone picks her up, I would buy her CD. I tend to agree with what the judges said on country week that she should go into country music. She's like the Dixie Chicks without all the political baggage and attitude.

Oh well, I can only hope more deserving people go in the coming weeks. Again, I blame stupid little teenage girls who think John is just adorable for the poor results. Get it together America. Talent, make it about talent or its just going to degrade like the Real World did when people knew they were acting and didnt actually have a personality.

ok, rant mode off.

I admit it, I love Camile. I still don't think that Amy was more deserving of going thant both Johns.

Yeah, I want to like Camile. I just haven't seen a lot of stuff where she really seems to be on her stride. Not much has seemed to work with her voice. For me anyway.

Redhead John is cute and sweet and his voice is suited to very few types of music. No way should he still be here. Yeah, he's adorable and can sing, but he can't sing a lot and he.... He's 16 so I'll stop before I say anything mean! ;) But yeah, I think a whole lot of teenaged girls are keeping him on. As well as his high school. Although I don't think that should be enough to sway the votes.

I think a lot of these people (Camile, Amy, John) could be very good within a certain genre. Their voices, their styles, their whole vibe seems better suited to a specific type of music. So they are good at what they're good at.

Someone like La Toya, though, has shown she can do pretty much anything. (I'm still in love with her country performance.) I think that Fantasia, Jasmine, and Diana are pretty versatile, too. Not so much Jennifer and George.

JPL, though... I admit it, I don't understand his appeal at all. I watch him, I don't get it. I listen to him, I don't get it. When I have personally heard a bunch of random, relatively talentless (and drunk), people actually impress me doing those same songs at karaoke, I can't be anything but incredulous as to why JPL is still around.

Heh, I'm surprised none of the judges had anything to say about Fantasia's outfit. God bless her, I love her tremendously, but it looked like her head was coming out of a big, pale vagina. And I thought La Toya's hair was lovely. I have actually seen people with cats on their heads and that is soooo not what it looks like. :rolleyes

I am so mad that Amy went. She had the best personality. That whole bottom three was a big joke. However I'm a big fan of Diana, so at least she is still in the running. As far as I'm concerned they need to lose all the guys. They are horrible.

:shock You're right! I was not loving her outfit at ALL. And now I'm just going to all sorts of weird visual places. Nooooooo!

JPL... It's very strange because every so often he hooks me. Very strange. Vocally, he's not great. Maybe he'd be fun at parties and karaoke, but as a career? Nuh-uh!

As for George not being as versatile.... Maybe not, but when he's good he knocks my socks off. I hope he's around for a while so we can watch him grow a bit more.

I heard that next week is Big Band. Which pisses me off because cute little John Stevens will be good at it. Damn!

Big Band?!? For real? In other words, A Very Special John Stevens Episode. :sigh

I bet the rest of them can probably pull that off, all except for JPL.

Yeah this was especially done for John stevens, they want him sticking around, there is no other reason to do this kind of show. Bleh how boring.

So what happened to Big Band week? *is not complaining*

Damn, Jennifer...whoa. That was awesome. Also loved La Toya and Fantasia, of course. George was pretty good, too. I liked him this week.

Everyone else...eh. I didn't expect anything but suck from John and JPL and they did not disappoint. Jasmine and Diana were just okay, I thought. Jasmine was better, but she had issues with that last note. Diana has a cold, doesn't she? If so, that was actually a really good performance, all things considered. I keep hoping Camile will pull an awesome performance out of her ass, because I do think she's got it in her, but...she just never does. And she always looks like she's in pain. It breaks my heart.

"American Idol" fans are not happy. And "24" devotees are upset.

On TV chat sites, viewers voiced their opposition to Fox's scheduling changes, made so the network could air President Bush's news conference Tuesday night.

The "Idol" performance show was moved to Wednesday night (8 ET/PT), and voting phone lines will be open as usual after the show. The half-hour results show will air live Thursday (8 p.m. ET/tape-delay PT).

One posting on idolonfox.com, the official site, urged a White House protest for not having the news conference later. Others were more political: "Clinton would never have done this!" said one. Another suggested that Simon Cowell judge Bush's performance.

"On the one hand, I'd like to think that the American president speaking is more important than a singing contest, " says "Idol" fan Sarah Brown, 23, of Muncie, Ind. "On the other hand, I can't think of anything that President Bush could say right now that would make me want to tune in."

Fox executives say there was never any thought about "not "airing the president on Tuesday. "When the White House calls and asks for time, you move to accommodate them," says Fox's Scott Grogin.

Also affected: Fox cliffhanger drama "24," in which a deadly virus is threatening the country. There are seven episodes left. This week, "24" will air Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT, putting it up against three other popular dramas - HBO's "Sopranos," ABC's "Alias" and NBC's "Law & Order."

In an online forum for "24," a posting asked which show viewers would rather watch, President Bush or "24." Hundreds chose "24."

I only caught the end of the show last night, and for some reason they didn't have the results, so I didn't know who was voted off. I can't understand how JPL and that ginger chap were still in it, they're as bland as bland can be! Some very impressive ladies though. I think Latoya is my favourite, but Fantasia is a close second. I missed Fantasia's version of Summertime, so hope to catch it on the repeated showing at the weekend.

JPL

Postby tyche » Fri Apr 16, 2004 1:21 pm

I know that this puts me in a minority on this board, but I'll miss JPL. His geeky dancing entertained me no end.

I think that the two Johns have been in the competition for this long because of the teenage girl vote, and because some soccer moms (and probably grannies too) wish that their daughters/grand-daughters would date someone like them.

Also, this week's TV Guide airs the theory that the, er, less beautiful people are getting voted off the show first. I'll leave others to debate who's going to get the chop next if that's really the case...

This just proves to me that the average American schmoe cannot be given something so vitally important as a vote....on anything...b/c given the chance, they will fuck it up....as tonight's episode can attest. If we have these idiots going to our polls on election day 2004, god help us, one and all. :sigh

You know, this was very wrong. I am glad I was spoiled because I was not forced to watch this. A thread on TWOP got killed cause some people were discussing potential racism involved in this kind of contest. I don't know, certainly possible.

There are not enough angry smileys to express my outrage.

I thought at first that Ryan was kidding. I chuckled and thought, "Hey, that's kind of mean."

I'll tell you what it is, it's the continuing presence of John Stevens that is seriously making me angry. I can deal with Diana, Jasmine, and George, because, while I don't think they are the best, they are okay, and I like them. I wouldn't be furious were it not for the fact that that fucking talentless goddamn piece of shit is STILL in this competition while Jennifer packs to go home. It's an outrage. America fucking deserves John Stevens. I hope America enjoys his "crooning" if he can even remember the fucking words. :happy
