Idols, the all naked all gay version...

Well not literally, but I wanted to draw attention. Tommorow evening they are showing world idol on TV, where the winners from several countries, including my own, will be competing for the honor of who gets trashed the most by the jury.



I must confess I love idols. The second edition started in the Netherlands a few weeks ago and I tune in religiously. I did not catch on right away last year, I watched a few minutes early on and I thought it was some sort of joke and that they were rounding up people who could sing as hideously as humanly possible. As it turned out, they were actually trying to find people who could sing. I got really into it and in our version the sort of geeky guy with glasses pulverized the pretty boy who cannot sing all that well in the finale. It was great, it sort of was the stuff cheesy movies are made off. Our winner Jamai was really great at singing Elton John songs, he also has this peculiar glasses thing going and as of today he has one other thing in common with sir Elton: he is gay gay gay.

The guy who won in the UK is gay too, so the gay boys are doing well in becoming idols for tons of screaming girls *and* boys. So this thread may not be naked, but it is gay.



Anyway, I figured maybe there are one or one other person out there who wants to be chauvinistic like me. We can be the jury as well. So go Jamai, kick some foreign ass!

You have got to watch this, it is so hilarious to see all the fruitcakes from other countries for a change (they are showing clips from the audition rounds), the ones from Poland are especially funny.



I think it will be between Kelly and Will Young, and I am betting Kelly will win. She has some set of pipes, really awesome. I am amazed that there were jurors who had the gall to come up with criticism about her. I am very happy that the Dutch juror gave the high praise she and the others were due (the Belgian woman was a very good and fair juror as well). The Norwegian idol was very good too, I also like the Arabian woman and the Polish girl. She was feisty, I especially love her for trashing her own very obnoxious juror. What an annoying piece of shit that guy was. He was really trying to take advantage of his 15 minutes of fame. What a loser. Will Young just stood there smiling benignly at the ridiculous comments the guy was spewing.

That Simon guy is pretty much in love with himself as well, but I wonder why, if it had been up to his brilliant eye for talent Kelly and Will Young would not have made it to the US and UK finale. Anyway, I really like the fact about half of the idols (including Dutch Jamai, who held his own, but he has sung that song better) don't have the slick pretty boy looks the juries seemed to be so horny for during the auditions.

Ok, I am ready to comment! Kelly's done better but she's still amazing. She's learned to ham it up since her record got released. But yeah she's got more ability than anyone there, obviously. I was also glad we managed to snag a girl up for our idol because so many of the other countries voted for men. It was interesting.



I loved the woman from Jordan I think, she was really good and I am glad she was different looking and that she sang in her own language. The polish woman should be an actress though, pretty funny, she was kinda flat. The German guy was a joke, easily the worst of the lot. He sang maniac and was flat and out of tune. South African guy put me to sleep and so did the Canadian. Your dutch gay guy did hold up nicely though Garfield.



However, I think he's best in a boy band, maybe you could help him out



The real competition for me is between Kelly, the Aussie dude (even though his voice sounds just like.. someone else, I just can't remember the name right now), Will Young (even though I was highligh unimpressed. Don't fucking sing Jose Feliciano style anything to me. I hate that version of light my fire), and the guy from Norway (he may not be a looker, but he had the best original pop voice of all of the, I was very impressed).

I did not like Will Young's version of Light my fire either, but he does have a very distinct and good singing voice, a bit of a nasal quality to it, but not annoyingly so. Of the men I think the Norwegian guy has the best voice and so what if he isn't looking like a Norwegian god, I bet he could outsing them all. I am hoping Kelly will win, I did not really know her before this, but the brief clips they showed and her performance really sold me on her. I did not like what the Australian guy was singing, but he got an awful lot of praise so he will probably do well.

The German dude really got flamed to the ground, I felt a bit sorry for him, but the way he sung that song and the way he was moving around was very silly. He might as well have thrown himself onto a sword, that would have been less painful. The South African guy was just a pretty boy, did not do much for me.

It's funny to see that the two guys who fit the pretty boy idol image the best, the German and the South African, performed the poorest of the lot. I am glad to see that the other countries, like my own, voted for the voice and not the face.

I thought Kelly Clarkson was really good and this Jamai guy too. I felt sorry for Alexander (Germany). He was really, really bad. He should have stayed at home. Now the whole world knows, that the german pop idol can´t sing.

I just got to watch it and i'm torn between my love for Kelly and Guy Sebastian from Australia.



I also can't help but root for Kurt from Norway and Peter from Belgium since i'm a rock fan by heart.



I really dislike the Canadian judge. He was the whiniest of the lot and he wasn't even funny like simon cowell.

As it happens in the UK 'World Idol' crashed and burned getting only 5 million viewers against 'Only Fools And Horses' 15 million, and Del boy is probably a better singer than Will Young as well...

As a patriotic Aussie, I have to go for Guy Sebastian. I think he did us proud. Although I'm not altogether happy with his song choice (his version of Thicke's "When I get you alone" is unreal and easily his best performance outside "Climb every mountain" from Sound of Music, seriously he sang that song and there wasn't a dry eye in the house), I think he did very well and has a real chance.



But I'd have to say that Kelly Clarkson has the real star quality - she just oozes talent and professionalism, and the Norwegian guy at the end (Kurt?) did a flawless U2.



But what was with the judges? Was it a competition between all of them as to who was the nastiest? They could have been a little more constructive, or did they just edit the constructive ones out?



I'm such a sucker for this show, I can't believe how involved I get!

I watched the results tonight. Poor Jamai came in last, really unjustified and it only happened because the pan arabic voters for some inexplicable reason decided to give the German guy top points. They considered him to be better than Kelly and the rest. Anyway, it does not matter, the other countries voted for the best, the top 5 is a fair one I think. I would have voted for Kelly as number one, but she already is a big star and the Norwegian guy was very good indeed, so he deserves it too. I like the fact that international audiences have not voted for good looks alone. No offense, but he isn't pwitty. It's a good thing idols was created because now, against the will of many a juror, people who would otherwise never have gotten a fair deal have gotten a chance. I'm happy to see people who voted are not nearly has hung up on looks as most of the record company suits are.

big yaay! for middle earth idol winning. I'm happy with that one. I just hoped guy sebastian from australia had finished alot higher. I can't believen ketchup boy from south africa got placed higher than he did. oh well. I'm hoping the exposure does something for guy's career as well as kurt's.



Alo yaay for peter evrard from Belgium who was really a rock idol instead of a pop one but ended up finishing number 3.

I was happy with kelly second, it's not bad to lose to kurt. Yes rock dude #3, and Americans surprised me by voting the pan-arab winner as their #3 choice (if memory serves me correct).
