UK tv - Bad Girls

Postby ukxenafan » Thu May 08, 2003 4:57 pm

Anyone watch Bad Girls on ITV tonight?? I can't *believe* they had Shell Dockley riding a 5 foot plastic prick in an Amsterdam night club while 6 months (or whatever!) pregnant!!! Bet ITV get a ticking off for that!!

I used to be a big BG fan, but it hasn't been as good since Helen and Nikki and Shell left. So, good to see the nasty Shell back... Good old Bodybag seems to be as ratty as ever, but what happened to Babs? I missed the start...how come she's deaf?

When the bomb went off in the last series, she was unconscious and shown with blood coming from her ear. I presume the blast perforated her ear drum or something.

Some say they're going to a place called Glory and I ain't saying it ain't a fact,
but I've heard that I'm on the road to puragtory and I don't like the sound of that,
I believe in love and I live my life accordingly

Hi Huge bad girl fan here and i have to agree with you, it hasn't been the same since Helen and Nikki left, and now Shaz is gone!! Still, i continue to watch. God, i laughed so much when i realized it was Shell!!! But then kind of stared at the screen when i found out she was pregnant. Lol. I just wish Denny had gotten to severely hurt Snowball

Can't wait 'til next week!!

hi all:bigwave ok don't lynch me for this:paranoid :) but ive been watching bad girls from the 1st ep but have since lost interest in it, it was once a quality programme that dealt with real issues and provided amazing drama, it started going down hill when they were losing their regular cast but why the writers decided to turn into some kind of soapy type show is beyond me was, very disappointed to see what was once really good TV turn into a sleazy rated driven show the story lines are unbelievable! there are still a few hints of the bad girls i used to enjoy but sadly :sob not enough to keep me watching :peace :D

Well its ALWAYS been a kind of soap opera-like show, but you're right, it has gone down. The difference is the first year was a drama - 10 one hour episodes of great characters and plots. However, due to its own huge popularity, ITV wanted more - by S6 it was 14 or 16 eps I think. Quantity meant a drop in quality I think, and also the loss of some really well drawn characters.

Still, as tv drama/soaps go, its still fun.

I love Bad girls ... OK, so I loved it more when Helen and Nikki were around ... even named my cat Nikki (see Avatar)

There have been some good story lines and some nasty ones ... I still watch because I'm forever hopeful that the writers/producers will get their acts back together ... it's the curse of spreading yourself too thin with other projects I think ... happened with Joss and Firefly, Chris Carter with Harsh Realm, Jeffrey Abrams with Felicity, and the list goes on.

We haven't gotten the new season yet in Canada, so all you UKers will have to give up all the juicy tales and let me know how much I should look forward to ... or dred ... the new season

I always enjoyed watching Bad Girls, but kinda lost alot of interest after Simone Lahbib and Mandana Jones left the show. Hey how about that, a lesbian love story with a happy ending!!! I see that Simone is about to appear in "Monarch of the Glen" alongside Tony Head. He`s to be her love interest apparently, think I`d rather have Nikki. How lucky does one guy get, not only does he star alongside Aly, Amber and Simone, but he gets to share on-screen smoochies with the latter, nice work if you can get it!!!:)

I've seen ads for Bad Girls and have yet to watch it...is it any good? The last BBC women in prison show I saw was Prisoner Cell Block H...so I am sure you understand my reticence :eyebrow

Wasn't Prisoner on Cell Block H an Austalian show? One of those 'so bad it's good' shows. I seem to remember it being really popular in Britain, even spawning a stage play or musical.

I'm curious about Bad Girls too. It sounds as if the first season was really good so if it's ever repeated here I'll watch it.

I think the first season is the best I've seen so far (I just watched the first three seasons). I really liked the show, it's definitely worth watching.

When we got the show tapes, Martha and I would stay until 5am watching it because we just couldn't find a place to stop... :-D On a weekday... It's very addictive.

Nikki and Helen were so cute together!!! :x And there are few things more pleasurable than hating Fenner... :devil

I'm doing something so bad, naughty and wrong...

I'm working late in the office, and to cheer myself up I had a quick look at the videos GG was on about above. My home PC isn't quite up to scratch, but the work one...

All I can say is wow, and :drool. I had forgotten just how good this program and those characters were. And how incredibly droolworthy Simone Lahbib is...

Candleshoe, i've got to agree with you. I am, in fact, very disturbed to find i too had forgotten just how drool worthy the lovely Simone Lahbib is. Mandana too. Great videos! Thanks for posting them GG! I can't believe i didn't think to actually go and look for Helen/Nikki music videos. I feel like the worst fan ever. Now i feel that i must comment on something else. I would never dream of tarnishing the name of my favourite wing gov., but i think this is okay, because she herself has commented on the very same subject.... and so, i shall sum up what has me rolling on the floor or tittering like an amused mouse whenever i see it in 4 words. Season one Helen hair.

I have to say Ginner that Nikki's hair was always a bit of a lottery as to whether it was OK or not. Luckily her eyes and her *ahem* other assets would distract me away from it on the Big Hair Days...

I really must watch it again sometime...

Speaking of which, a Star Trek Voyager fanfic author that I have a read a lot of her stuff (poorly constructed grammar, my apologies) is currently writing Bad Girls fan fiction. She's quite good, so if you like the show chances are you'll like her stories etc.

It was Nikki's lipstick and earrings in the first season that reall distracted me, Candleshoe, though i do see the point about the hair. Funny how it can look awful in one scene and look perfect the next. As for her assets, i must agree. A certain potting shed scene that included Nikki and Helen springs to mind. So much sexual tension, Nikki in one of those lovely white tank tops, and i was completely captivated by Nikki's fabulous...hands. I assume those are, of course, the assets you are referring to? ;) What wonderful hands that woman has. It pained me to see them get managled by that garden fork later on.

I'd forgotten! That was a very nasty thing to happen to such wonderful hands. Although, I seem to recall that the incident led directly to some of the happiest moments for all concerned, so it served a purpose...

Oh, that did it. I'll never forget the sight of Nikki in that bloody awful wig, and the nurse outfit. Still, even with most of it wrapped in a bandage, lovely hands. But my, my, the abuse it took. First it was skewered, then reopened with a phone card, ah the things desperate inmates will do for love. I am still a little disppointed that Nikki didn't follow through with her "I'll break down the bloody door!" threat. I would have paid money to see butch Nikki, dressed in a nurses uniform, kicking in Helen's door. I'm not entirely sure why though....

I think there's a Bad Girl's season 1-3 marathon just waiting to happen here....i can feel it... even if it's just to see Bodybag out of her head on ecstacy again. Priceless.

I don't think i have ever been as amused by a scene in Bad Girl as i was while watching that. There's just a certain something about watching a usually bitter, grumpy, PO totally lose it, dance until she's falling down, go into explicit detail about her husband's bedroom problems, come onto a much younger man and then tell her husband to piss off. Oh, and then, of course, fall into a table, dousing herself with left over drinks - much to the dismay of the inmates trying to sneak that back onto the wing - and bursting into tears. It was almost upsetting....but in a really really funny way.

Did you watch the Christmas Special? The Ghost of Fenner Past was hysterical, although I'm now fairly certain that the show has jumped the shark...

I'm not sure where this is in syndication, so I'm hoping that I'm not spoiling? I'm being quite vague so hopefully that should be OK!

It's not a spoiler for me, though i'm not sure about other kittens wondering around this thread. Yes, i did watch the christmas episode. :rofl The ghost of Fenner past! Okay, that was funny. And, i found, a tad creepy too. In fact, the whole Christmas episode was a little creepy. Although, i must say, it IS nice to have a Scot back on the show. Even if her accent isn't quiet as captivating as Miss Lahbib's. There have been 4 seasons since they left, and still i wait for someone to comment on Nikki and Helen. I prayed that good old Babs would get a letter from Nikki, but it never happened. :sigh

But man, Jim Fenner. Looking as scary and evil as ever.

Edit - Teeny Tinkerbell light! That's me!

Edited again - And i just checked out the offical Bad Girls website. They have some new series info up....

Spoiler:
Bad Girls is back for a hard hitting eighth series. Life on G Wing is shaken up irrevocably when new Wing Governor Louise ‘Lou’ Stoke (Amanda Donohoe) takes the helm at a time of crisis. Ex-Army Governing Governor Joy Masterton likes to run G Wing with a rod of iron, but Lou has some very different ideas and she’s not afraid to fight for them…

With a suspected terrorist on the wing, a new Prison Officer Donny Kimber (Sid Owen) is on a secret mission. Fancying himself as a bit of a ‘James Bond’, he couldn’t be more thrilled when he’s asked to be a secret Police Liaison Officer! He’s undercover, but how long will it take until he’s found out – especially when he gets cosy with one of the inmates?

Sylvia Hollamby ‘Bodybag’ is miffed when she is passed over for the New Wing Governor’s position.

New Doctor Rowan (Colin Salmon) is assigned to Larkhall prison. But it is soon clear he has an agenda.

Pat Kerrigan still regarded as top dog, is driven to the edge by Natalie Buxton. Could this be the end for one of them?

Prison officers and inmates alike are in for a tough ride this year.

Interesting.... very interesting...

My thoughts exactly, Candleshoe. And yes, the very same. I can't quite wrap my head around that one. I know for a fact all i'll hear whenever i see him is the shrieking of his former character's name. It might be good for a few laughs though, seeing him in a PO uniform. As for a start date, the offical site doesn't have one listed yet and i haven't heard anything. But i wouldn't have thought it'll be that far off now. Ususally starts around June-Julyish i think.

So it does! I shall look forward to it with crossed fingers and bated breath. Please let there be someone cute this time...

And PS: Didn't they have Helen voicing the contents of a letter or a report or something about Fenner, after she left? I'm sure I remember getting terribly excited about hearing her voice again, when I thought it had gone forever...
