Cold Case

Postby Gatito Grande » Sun Nov 14, 2004 8:49 pm

We all know how great this show is, for having Our Own Amber Benson on last year (w/ a thread for that on the Witches & Vixens forum). Moreover, the talented and hot Kathryn Morris :drool has been discussed over on the Xena thread (because many of us first saw KM on XWP).

The thing is, the show is really good enough to have a thread of its own. It's sort of like Law and Order, in that the story drives it (not the characters). But since those stories can be from any time in the past 100 years, that's a lot to work with! :grin

For a while last year, the show wandered far enough afield to give us a (yucky, IMO) het romance for KM's Detective Lilly Rush---this year, they've been wise enough to stick to basics! (And since Lilly is not w/ last year's ADA-guy---and she's been known to have an issue or two w/ men---she's great for the f/f fantasizing! :p )

Ergo, this show has really been due a thread of its own for a while. But the reason I finally got on the ball about doing that, is that tonight's ep (for the second time, that I'm aware of) had a significant gay focus!* :pride

GG It even concluded w/ a gay wedding. At this time, this year (after the electoral debacle), how cool is that? :applause Out

So, if you love Cold Case (and/or Kathryn Morris), sound off here! :wave

* The other ep, last year, was about a gay-bashing in the mid-1960s.

I'm in the UK and hadn't even heard of Cold Case until Amber's appearance was announced. The gay bashing episode was the first I watched and although I usually don't watch episodes of shows that feature gay characters as murder victims (or murderers) I though they handled it really well. I've been watching ever since and hoping Season 2 will start here soon. Of course my love for the show has absolutely nothing to do with Kathryn Morris and that smile:whistle .

I almost posted here last week, after the last ep's "Rocky Horror Picture Show" theme (featuring guest star Barry Bostwick).

But tonight was even better: a lesborrific show that, while tragic (after all this show is always set in the past---the "cold case" crime, of the title---and tonight's was farther back than usual: the early 1930s) was one of the most moving, romantic hours of TV I've seen this season (not to mention, very lesbian-affirming in its message). Literally, pure poetry (and de Blues, too!).

Seriously, for those of you who have a chance to see this episode on tape, TIVO or download, don't miss it.

GG Week in, and week out, Cold Case is one of the best shows on TV: I guess that's all I really need to say. Out

I saw this and I agree, it was awesome.. Very lesbian/love affirming and the two actresses playing the young lovers had chemistry that was sizzling. It was a very romantic and beautiful episode. And the music? the cream on the top..Does anyone know the name of the music playing in the background?

This one is definitely going on DVD..

I don't like cold case. I can't stand the way it's shot and their use of music, it tries to create sentimentality as opposed to it arising from the plot.

Anyway, if you like Aimee and Jaguar, you'll love this episode! I don't now, I found it sorta depressing. It was good in parts and instructional for your straight viewer. It's a good message about lesbian love being normal and good and all that. I was upset that I saw no kissing. Maybe I blinked. It seemed really silly not to have it.

Other than that, yes tragic, need not be of course but nothing seems more moving than lesbian tragedy, apparently. A little thelma and louise-like at the end, except I like that better because we never see them land.

The girls were cute though and they did have chemistry. How I love me some woman in drag. Sigh.

Ha, you noticed that whole not kissing thing too? I mean, they'd get real close, just about to kiss, then it was...fade to black. Scene switch. Really, would it have been very bad if we saw them kiss? ..Even so, the moments they did have were great. So I wasn't all that irked. Though, it did rather amuse me.

Anyway.

I really did like this episode. It was completely about Rose and Billie's story. Though, tragic. I want to say, "Those are sometimes the best ones." But, that's me and my being a sucker for tragedy. Disturbed, I know (Especailly if you consider, as fascinated as I am, I rarely watch or read these type of things to the end after the first viewing). This one really interested me. In my opinion, I honestly think the story was strong enough to stand on its own.

Overall, it was a very emotional but moving episode. Really do wish I would've recorded it.

On a more shallow-er note: Did the character Billie not look good in that suit? Loved that.

No comments on last night's Cold Case? The cross-dressing (but not lesbian - she liked guys) teenage girl who gets mercy-killed after having her brain fried by the evil mental institution?

It seemed a bit over-wrought to me - like they were piling on every single form of rejection and abuse they could think of. Even for 1963, it felt like they'd gone over the top.
Now there's something you don't see every day... unless you're us...
