What fun, nominations are in! I'll pick my choices later. I am happy about Kate Winslet, cause I love her :heart . But I am really tickled they nominated Catalina Sandino Moreno for Maria Full of Grace. She's amazing in that movie. It's a great movie, if you haven't seen it yet, you should.

Of that entire list I have only seen the Harry Potter one. Not much to root for this year in my case, except Kate Winslet, I like her too.

I have seen almost all of the films that garnered major nominations and could not be more excited at the nominees.

I am rooting for Clint Eastwood all the way in the directors category (even though the Aviator was quite good).

For best actor, I really would like to see DiCaprio beat out Foxx because I think his performance was just better. (This coming from someone who doesnt even like DiCaprio). Yes, Foxx did a great impersonation, but in the end that is all it felt like to me.

For best actress I am just at a loss. My personal favorite was Hilary Swank, but Sandina Moreno and Winslet both turned in smashing performances. I think any of them would be deserving of the win.

For the supporting races, I'm rooting for Portman and Owen all the way. While Closer was one of the most uncomfortable to sit through films I've seen this year, the performances were just that brilliant. Blanchett is a close second for her portrayl of Hepburn, though. She made it look so easy and really did have the style. As for the men, I think Morgan Freeman will be a great spoiler, and I would applaud a win for him. His performans as Scrap was one of the best I've ever seen from him.

While I think Eastwood will (and should) take best director, I think Aviator will beat out Million Dollar Baby for best picture. I personally find it very hard to judge between the two, as they are so starkly different. The Aviator was massive, huge sets, tons of extras. Million Dollar was little, gritty and basically spun on a cast of three people. If I had to pick, I'd root for Million Dollar Baby and bet on the Aviator.

Ok, well, thats enough rambling from me. Anyone else seen the films disagree? Fire away!

Ah crap. I´ve seen Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind now and she was great in it. I did not see the oscars as it was bedtime here, which picture won?

Yay, Cate Blanchet finally avenged that horrible defeat in the hands of stupid Paltrow years ago. Yay Cate!!!

And Charile Kauffman finally gets some recognition! Go Eternal Sunshine!!

Biggest bummer for me was Swank winning over super babe and uber talented Kate Winslet! Sigh, one day Kate, one day!

I watched the entire show, and for the most part, it sucked donkey turds big time. Chris Rock was really terrible and annoying. Please bring back Billy, Robin or Whoopie next year. There were only about 20 minutes I enjoyed, in particular, Yo Yo Ma playing during the tribute for the celebrities who died last year.

I for one, was elated Hilary Swank and the rest of the folks from Million Dollar Baby won.

I think Hilary is amazing, gorgeous, and super talented (did anyone see her in "Boys Don't Cry?-gut wrenching, to say the least. One of the BEST performances EVER, IMO.) . In real life she is also very HOT! Anyone see the dress she wore at the Oscars? Woof! :drool :thud

I do agree with xita about it being a very week year.

I feel that Kate Winslet's Oscar time will come soon. I knew she was very gifted when I saw Heavenly Creatures when the film first came out. Kate's too good to be overlooked much longer.

Oh, I can't forget to mention that I thought Jamie Foxx's acceptance speech was moving. I was happy for him.

The highlight for me was when Jamie Fox got best actor for Ray....that was a great moment...he really acted his ass off in that and deserved the award.
