Postby mollyig » Fri Apr 02, 2004 2:22 am

I looked and looked but could find no CSI thread, so here we go.

Vegas or Miami - which do you prefer? I like both, but Vegas gets extra points 'cause I've been there! :)

When we watch CSI Vegas, my gf is always teasing me about Sara - she prefers Catherine.

Any other fans here?

Oooh, a CSI thread! :grin Thanks, Molly.

Vegas, Vegas, Vegas. David Caruso bugs the snot out of me, so I can't get into the Miami one at all.

Sara's okay, but, given a choice, there would be no choice. Catherine, hands down. Because, Marg Helgenberger...damn. Seriously hot.

CSI is reliable. It's always going to be interesting and I love that I can trust it every week. It's only turned my stomach once, that time Sara and Catherine had the body in the bathtub that had been there in the hot water for days and days. That was horrifyingly disgusting.

I'm glad they got over that Gil-going-deaf drama, but I miss the dominatrix lady. She was not just hot, but also interesting and she and Gil had fantastic chemistry. Seemed like they would have been good for each other. Did she kill someone or something? I don't remember.

I think CSI has come close to getting a little too soapy, a little too focused on the character's private lives, a time or two, but it seems they've pulled back from that this season. Well, except for Catherine dating Krycek. :wtf

Krycek as in traitorous x-files Krycek? That hasn't aired so far over here. Eek. Em's not going to like that (trying not to snigger)

I do like Ms Helgenberger, but there's just something about Jorja Fox. I love the episodes of West Wing she was in, and rue that I never got to see her in ER.

Yep, that very Krycek. There's a detailed synopsis of the ep (#15) where he first shows up here. He shows up again briefly at the end of the next ep, #16. Then Catherine was on the phone with him in the ep that just aired here, which was #19. Well, it's implied that's who she was on the phone with, but I suppose it could have been anyone. (All this is season 4, btw.)

If you want to torture Em, you can show her these screenshots - #15 and #16.

I'm sorry, Em!!!

ETA: How could I have forgotten?!? *smacks self*

Because CBS has learned a thing or two from NBC's five million versions of Law and Order, CSI: New York will be born out of a CSI: Miami ep in May. Supposedly. Starring Gary Sinise. And some other people I don't know...let's see...Melina Kanakaredes, Vanessa Ferlito, and Carmine Giovinazzo. I had to look them up.

I don't know how I feel about that, honestly. I don't have the time to watch four L&Os and three CSIs. Bleh.

Furries! That episode is bound to be a classic. I think it was called Fur and Loathing in Las Vegas or something. Or I just made that up. Whatever.

I like this show okay. I don't really prefer either of the women. They're both hot as hell. Heh, I do like it when they have scenes together though.

Grissom usually annoys the crap out of me.

C.S.I. has got to be one of the best shows on tv right now.

I like Grissom I think hes a kewl character, but thats just me.

I'm not really a big fan of C.S.I. Miami, I don't know why but it just doesn't sit well with me. Anywho, I think Sara is better then Catherine, though shes hot too.

For real, I like CSI, so I tried watching a few episodes of CSI Miami, but I cannot endure watching that guy. Anyway, I don't watch CSI religiously every week, but I try to catch it when I can. About that bathtub episode, did that turn out to be an old guy who died of natural causes in a warm bath that kept itself heated? If not then I am confusing that with a real story, heh, I like watching docu shows (like a Life of Grime) about people who have to clean up other people's messes.

lol, Garfield, I think you might be confusing CSI with something from rotten.com. Or, they're just oddly similar.

I think the bathtub guy got hit in the head or something and it ended up killing him when he was in the bathtub. I vividly remember them having to use umbrellas because it was leaking from the second floor or something. That really grossed me out. heh.

Oh yeah, it might be a rotten pic I am thinking off. I meant to edit my previous post because the same day I made that post asking about the tub guy, CSI was on TV here and yes yes, it was the very same episode. Isn't that an uncanny coincidence? I had not seen an episode in weeks and this one happens to have the scene Holley was talking about here. The guy had gotten a blow to the head several hours earlier and ruptured a vein in his head which slowly but surely killed him. It was icky, not so much the bloated body, but more so the CSI women having to scoop the nasty smelly water out of the tub.

Okay... nobody shoot me for asking this, but does anyone else think that before the series is over, they will hook Grissom and Sara up? :hmm They've already hinted towards something in that direction. Or... my imagination could just be running rampant, I don't know.

I really hope Grissom and Sara don't end up together. They just aired the episode where she asked him out here the other week. My gf and I were talking about it and both agreed that it was out of nowhere, and totally incredible. I always saw Sara having a sort of hero worship thing going with Grissom, definitely not a romantic thing.

I Love CSI & watch both versions. Have to say that Vegas is by far the superior one though. There's something that the Miami ones seems to be lacking but I'm not sure what...

Mollyig I have to agree and say that I also hope Sara & Gris don't end up together I think it would ruin the dynamic of the characters. Thankfully, I can't really see it happening.

I also watch both CSI shows, though I prefer the Vegas version because it is the original and I like the cast better overall, though Caruso doesn't bother me (Horatio Caine). The thing I like best is that the soap opera character drama stuff is kept to a minimum and the science, procedures and mystery is the focus. That is nice. I also hope that Sara and Grissom don't get together. And as an aside there, I hate Grissom's beard. It makes him look more like a homeless guy or something, and definitely older. I prefer him without it.

Along those lines I heard a RUMOR, that Grissom might be gone at the end of this season for some reason. Maybe William Peterson's contract is up or he wants more money, I don't know. I just hope this isn't the case. I like the character and would be sad to see him go. I also like both Sara and Catherine too, though the blonde ballistics expert on Miami is my favorite female on either show, even if I do always forget her name. Sad.

Oh, and I should say that Max Allan Collins who is associated with the show and is a legitimate mystery writer has done a wonderful job on the CSI novels. They are original stories, much like the show, and very fun to read. He also has been doing some comics as well which have been good, especially the Jack the Ripper convention storyline, those are worth checking out. I have seen the game, but haven't played it. Yup, definitely like too much CSI. :)

Lesbiand on C.S.I. Miami

Postby Garner » Tue May 11, 2004 3:10 pm

Hey did anyone catch CSI Miami last night? It had a lesbian couple, sort of, on it and I thought did a good job with the situation along the lines some have talked about in the Cliche thread. Basically one of a lesbian couple crashes her vehicle into a fire hydrant, suffers a concussion and limited amnesia. Her girlfriend is found dead, thrown from the vehicle but was dead prior to the accident. In their home there was obviously a fight, and the prime suspect is the amnesiac woman. However, it turns out her ex-boyfriend came back and fought with the girlfriend, stabbed her and then left. The concussion woman came back and tried to help her lover and take her to the hospital, but was too late, crash notwithstanding.

What I like about this is that the lesbian characters were treated just like any others on the show. One was killed, true, but then this is a crime show. The other was a suspect, but all SOs are suspects in cases like that. In the end the living lesbian is shown as loving, trying to help her girlfriend, and not evil or responsible. Basically like any other couple might have been treated, only this time they were gay.

bye, Sara and Nick

Postby maudmac » Thu Jul 15, 2004 11:24 pm

Man. Check this out:

"CSI" Axes Two Stars

Thursday July 15 10:35 PM ET

By Joal Ryan

It could be another gruesome CSI crime scene. Except this one doesn't involve dead bodies. Just axed actors.

George Eads and Jorja Fox, who played two of the younger, hotter forensics experts you'll find poking around a corpse, have been whacked from TV's top-rated drama series, Daily Variety reported on its Website Thursday.

The firings came after both Eads and Fox reportedly made it known to their bosses that, in the tradition of employees everywhere, they'd like to make more money.

Eads expressed his desire for a bigger paycheck by skipping the first day of shooting Thursday for CSI's fifth season, Variety said.

Fox, who did show up for work, drew the wrath of CBS execs for failing to, as Variety put it, "reply to a letter asking her if she had any plans to not show up for work."

In both cases, CBS invoked breach of contract. Eads and Fox each had two years left on their TV standard seven-year contracts.

Not pausing for a moment at their chalk outlines, Variety said the network has already begun searching for Eads' and Fox's replacements.

"The network is not commenting," CBS told E!

Eads, 36, played hair and fiber guy Nick Stokes on CSI. Like Fox, he had been with the show since its October 2000 debut.

Fox, 35, played material and elements point person Sara Sidle on the series.

If it sounds as CBS is trying to put the fear of God into its star employees, it may just be.

Last summer, the network steamed as Everybody Loves Raymond costars Patricia Heaton, Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle called in sick for a variety of ailments over the first 10 days of production. Brad Garrett just stayed away--period.

The cast's health, not to mention Garrett's attendance, improved considerably once they were awarded raises.

The Eyeball, though, has not always been as amenable--particularly if the players aren't name-brand stars. It once threatened to gut the cast of Becker (Ted Danson, not included) if its actors didn't end a work stoppage.

Sometimes not even stars have been immune. In 1982, Dukes of Hazzard pin-ups John Schneider and Tom Wopat went to war over merchandising revenue. The Duke boys, Bo and Duke, subsequently were shown the highway, and replaced by two "fake" Dukes, Coy and Vance. (Duke and Wopat returned the following season.)

None of Thursday's wrangling is likely to bolster the mood of CSI main man William Petersen. The actor/producer, who saw his show earn an Emmy nomination Thursday as Outstanding Drama Series, has been griping for months about CBS' franchising of CSI, as evidenced in CSI: Miami and the upcoming CSI: New York.

Last spring, Petersen warned that this coming TV year would be his last on the show, which was TV's top-rated drama, averaging more than 25 million viewers each week last season.

I don't think I'll stop watching, because those two weren't my favorites anyway. But the thing is, the whole cast was important and I hate to see two people suddenly missing like that. Besides, CSI is making a hell of a lot of money for CBS, much more than they probably thought when Jorja and George first signed their contracts. So they ought to spread that wealth around a bit, methinks.

I wish Jorja and George the best, wherever they go.

I'm not happy about the loss of Sara and Nick from the cast. I always worry when cast members leave that the dynamic that makes the show work will be changed for the worse. I would have thought that asking for a wage increase when a show is so popular isn't too demanding. If it is then the cast of Friends are waaaay to demandy! ;)

Oh well, will have to keep a watchful eye out to see who they plan to recruit in their stead.

Oh, and the episode Fur and loathing was shown here the other week - so funny.

Well now, it sounds like the reason for firing Jorja Fox is downright petty. Not replying to a letter counts as breach of contract? There has got to be more to it than that or they really are being very nasty. I wonder whether it won´t come back to bite them in the ass. What a nice atmosphere this must create on the set.

I don't like this. Granted, I was only a casual viewer of CSI, so I've never been personally invested in any of the characters or plots there. But I did like Jorja Fox; a lot. Namely as far back as ER when she was Maggie Doyle, who I wish had stayed while whiny-jerk Carter left, but that's a whole other topic that belongs elsewhere.

Plus, it was a fine contrast between her and Marg Helgenberger as the female leads that was always interesting to watch, which will inevitably be lacking no matter who they replace Jorja with. Not that I'll be watching it now. The bastards.

I hope so too, cause that would be cool. And here's why I believe it would be so.

For starters, the main L&O would be a huge step up from the comparatively 'new' CSI (only 4 seasons to L&O's 14), which would serve CBS right for their poor behavior. Second, Jorja Fox is a superior actress, and thus an improvement over Elisabeth Rohm (no disrespect to her, but it's true). And third, it'll encourage me to watch L&O more avidly again ever since I'd been a fan of the first four years with the original cast (Chris Noth, Steven Hill, and Michael Moriarty, whose offscreen mental instability was always a big let-down to me). Plus, Dennis Farina totally cracked me up when he played that evil mob boss in Midnight Run, so it should be fun to see what happens with him in L&O.

Now whether this sort of good karma will actually play out, I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see.

NOOOO!!!! I just read this. They can't get rid of Nick and Sara! What's going on? Failing to reply to a letter? Come on, what's up with that? Missing one day of shooting might be a little more justified, but still seems incredibly petty to me as well. While my favorite characters are Grissom and Catherine, the show won't be the same without George Eads and Jorja Fox. They bring so much personality to the show. Well, I'll give the show a chance without them, but only a small one, just to see if it's still worth watching, but I am not a happy camper. :miff

Casting rumour

Postby tyche » Mon Jul 19, 2004 2:04 pm

I don't watch CSI, but I came across this story (from Variety) while reading some '24' spoilers:

Quote:
By JOSEF ADALIAN

Look for lots of fresh faces on "24" next season -- and a familiar face from "24" on "CSI."

Reiko Aylesworth, who played Michelle on "24" for the past two seasons, is set to join the original "CSI" in a recurring role, insiders said, as a lab-based detective.

Aylesworth's casting is unrelated to the recent salary imbroglio involving "CSI" vets George Eads and Jorja Fox.

If you want to read the rest of the article, which contains lots of '24' spoilers, go here. (Warning: it's an 'Angel' fan board.)

I can't believe they've been axed.......surely a little pay rise would be less harmful than losing two of the team and risk breaking the chemistry they all share. I mean, they've all been there since the start, they work so well together, what if the new people just don't click! Silly production people!

I love, love, love the Vegas one. I've been obsessed since, forever! The Miami one, i can't seem to get into. I dunno, i think it's the group of people they have, it's just not the same as Vegas...........which i know is probably the whole point of another show, but they just don't, click, for me.

So Jorja is gone and George maybe. So how do they replace these fine actors? May I suggest Amber slipping into the show.

This has been brought up by ambercatsmom on the Essence Board but it is a valid consideration. I'm not saying have Amber play Sarah Didel, but a new character to replace the old one.

It's worth a thought.
