Silent hill

It has to be said I've been looking forward to seeing this film ever since seeing the first trailers at the start of the year.

The Silent Hill series are, IMHO, the best survival horror games available.

The basic plot is Rose's daughter is having nightmares about a place called Silent Hill, and sleep walking while having them. So Rose takes her daughter there in hopes of getting some answers.

Just as she arrives in SH a girl walks in front of the car and Rose is forced off the road in order to avoid hitting her. When Rose wakes up her daughter has disapeared. Then all hell breaks loose. Literally.

The storyline for the film does diverge a bit from the game, and adds some more characters, but the makers have tried very hard to maintain the aptmosphere of the games. Even down to little details like using the incidental music from the games. Also the sets are spot on, When Rose is running round Silent Hill, it really does look like the Slient Hill from the games.

I'm not sure why this film didn't get an 18 certificate, since it is rather gory in places. (though not as bad as the Hostel, no one was sick while watching this film.)

So this could well be the first decent film based on a game.

Ooh, this is the one with Radha "the cute one who was in Neighbours when I was young and impressionable" Mitchell, isn't it?

I don't really do horror, but would probably rent this just to see her.

Obviously I would be renting (rather than seeing it at the cinema) so that I could watch it in 20 minute bursts while doing something normal to distract myself from the abject terror coursing through my veins. Much like Silence of the Lambs, which was also suffered through for the sake of a cute woman...

Sometimes it worries me that, at my age, my hormones still drive my life :paranoid Then I remember that I'm only young, really, and should therefore sit back and enjoy the rollercoaster... ;-)

This is one movie that I am really looking forward to seeing. I tried to play the video game once, but it was too scary and I couldn't continue with it. (I freak out easily) :lol

It's a very scary game. The only game that's made me have trouble sleeping, and I play a lot of survival horror :paranoid

I tried playing the game too, but gave up for a different reason...

...the controls were asinine!

And no, I've never played a RE game, either (same control issues).

Tho I am very much looking forward to this film.

Well, I finally saw it last night. Was I the only one that wanted Rose and the cop lady to have at it, and kiss already? :lol
