The Canadian-made television show, Blood Ties, is set to begin airing in the US Sunday, 11 March, on LIFETIME. It's based on a series of urban fantasy books by Tanya Huff. Written in the early 1990s they feature a former Toronto police constable, Victoria "Victory" Nelson, who had to give up the job she loves because she is going night blind. A private investigator, she stumbles into the supernatural when she meets Henry Fitzroy, the vampire, while "helping" her former partner, Mike Cellucci, with a series of bizarre murders.
Naturally there will be changes from the books, i.e. loss of one minor character and enlarging the part of another. The author in her Live Journal posts is delighted with the adaptations and was a writer for one of the episodes.
Tanya is one of my favorite authors, so I'm really looking forward to this.

Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons can exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten. (G. K. Chesterton)
