USA Skins

Thought I'd start a thread on this to see what people thought.

Did you catch the show? Have you seen the UK version?

I know I probably shouldn't compare the two, but the USA version really wasn't anywhere near the standard that UK Skins produced. I'll probably keep watching to let it find its feet, but so far, not even the lesbian cheerleader is encouraging me to watch right now...

I personally wasn't even aware that there was a USA version of Skins lol, I'll have to check it out sometime. I'm pretty sure I read that they're going to try to make a Canadian version too. I shouldn't really comment before having seen the USA version, but I just don't see myself appreciating it like the UK version, but who knows, I may be surprised

Never heard of it.

However, there is an adaptation of a British show that has just started running on the SciFi (or SyFy) channel called "Beibg Human". The premise is interesting: a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost try to live "normal" lives as humans. So far, I think I'll stick with it.

IMHO, the very best American adaptation of a British series is still "Life On Mars", in spite of the changed ending.

The amusing side of the furor over how 'dangerous' USA Skins is that they've accepted the airing of the UK version on US TV without it being the end of civilisation...

Skins (the UK version) is excellent TV. On the one hand I feel I should hate the US version because it didn't need remaking but also I'm kind of curious to see what it will be like.

As a 30+ woman though I do wonder if I should be liking it...
