Hellllo!

Hey Yvonne, Rozy, SJ and BV, Thank you for the kind words. It has been a long time since the muse has visited but it struck last night.

I hope you all enjoy the latest.

Know it all

It’s funny,
not in a way that creates laughter,
but in the sad way that never makes sense.
It’s easy to point and laugh,
when you aren’t the victim.
Those signs with red circles and slashes,
that tell others how to think and feel;
they leave no margin for error,
which we all inevitably make.
Can you laugh now at the funny?
Now that it is your happiness on the block.
You knew it all, when it was your finger pointing,
and now you seem so unsure.
You are down on your knees,
begging for the mercy that you easily denied.
Perhaps we should connect with open minds
instead of mouths with bitter stings.
But that requires reflection
and real understanding.
Or perhaps,
just being real.

wow! that was amazing... how true those words rang in me... many of times i i thought i knew many things (i will not presume i know it all though) and many times i have fallen on my face because of the very same things i thought i knew... and when you fall down, you fall hard... it's hard to stand up and still be proud and say you knew it all...

...just being real.

that's the part that rang the truest for me... be real... just face the fact that you do not know everything... be real... you fall, you climb back up... be real... you fall hard, you learn... be real!

thanks osiris for those thought-provoking words.

Thanks TB and SJ for the feedback. Here's something new.

Context

we live in a world of locks and latches
keeping us in and out.
you know
lines that run parallel
have no chance of intersecting
as do the faces behind drawn shades.
there are things that make us shiver; standing alone
so we triple tighten and secure
and that’s comforting
until the sounds thunder and reawaken the quelled.
your soul is triple tightened
and I feel like a parallel line.
I can’t go through the safeguards.
I am the thunder that you keep shutting away;
making noise
until
you let me in.
so we dance this dance
as you lock up tightly
each time
placing one more line that I can not cross.

Hey there girlfriend! :wave

Something about the complexity of this one got me.
as you lock up tightly
each time
placing one more line that I can not cross

This feels so familiar. Great stuff.

Hey right back atcha!

I just want to put this up. I don't have a title for it but I hope that you like it. It feels a little different than what I usually write.

I wondered, as I watched the day devoured by night,
if love would ever have me the same.
If it would wait through the unbearable light and warmth,
dappled with brazen appetite, as it hungered through timeless lingering.
Could any such affection breathe?

I wondered, as the grass tickled my fingers,
if hands would ever find such pleasure across my flesh.
For as soft and sweet as each blade is
I could be the same across one’s lips.
To feel kisses lingering, the way my hand skims each teasing blade;
I fear, and desire, such the same.

I wondered, as the wind caressed my cheek
if a voice would ever whisper to my ear.
Come, electrify the slight hairs of my skin
and awaken my very soul.
I ache for the sound that takes me, captive,
like the tide trapped in the looping of a shell.

I wondered if this came to me
would it be welcome
would I notice the pain of longing, the tenderness,
or would I mold it
fashionable

If it is all that I ever wanted, I wondered,
wrapped in this dream,
would I recognize
that it was.

Really different, and wonderful.

So expressive:
I wondered, as the grass tickled my fingers,
if hands would ever find such pleasure across my flesh.
For as soft and sweet as each blade is
I could be the same across one’s lips.
To feel kisses lingering, the way my hand skims each teasing blade;
I fear, and desire, such the same.

Wow, it has really been a while. Thank you to those of you that read and leave encouraging words. I appreciate them.

I tend to write poetry when emotions run close to the surface. A very dear friend lost her father this week. Even though he scared the crap out of me as a child, I mourned the relationship that she always wanted with him but he was never willing to have. She was so strong when I got there, being the brave one for her family, as always. I knew the moment that I put my arms around her that everyone needs safe places. When she whispered in my ear I knew that in that moment she was there for me as much as I was for her.

This came from those moments. Death really makes me funky. I don't handle it well and I know that. Maybe I'll figure it out some day. Anyway... here is what came of the day. It is just crazy what can trigger the past.

In the bottom of this glass of wine

there’s an edge of splintered sapling
torn from the bridges built
long and narrow, but always passable
dangling now
between tethered worlds
the hearth is cold
untended fires that raged
have withered in the box
and the tumbled saplings once crossed
have all shriveled to coal and ash.
fire burns
in the wild, in a ring, in a brick house chased by chimney
but when it does
it can bring new life to what was slowly dying
death can be good
just like fire
it can change what we see
make something ugly, beautiful
but it takes time
and patience
give me patience
as I watch the bridge burn
and the ashes crumble
I hope I can wait for my eyes
to adjust to the ugly
until the beautiful comes
I have faith that the beautiful will come.
make it come
I have faith… make it come.

Does anyone really handle death well? Probably not, but you do have an outlet. Such a wonderful expression of feelings.

Hello all,

I've been away for a very long time. I've been very creative in the last 12 months, just not writing fic or poetry. Well a little here and there but I've been painting and dabbling in Photography.

I recently had some photos taken by Alan Miller and he fooled around with a few. They are all up on his web site. It was a great time and I thought I'd share them.

If you go here http://www.alanworks.net/current.html and scroll down to Sharon and Kathleen (the second picture). That would be me. If you click on my Picture you can see a few of the pictures taken during the shoot. It was all very exciting and I was informed that at least one of the pics will be in Alan's next book.

Enjoy the pics.

Sharon;

:applause Oh my goodness, I'm so glad you shared your pictures.
They are totally awesome!

I especially loved the one with the gargoyle, they have always facinated me and I have them all over my house. My GF thinks I'm a little :crazy
Creativity comes in so many different forms, and finding different outlets is just way to share another part of yourself.

Thanks BV!

Just a little note. Right around the time I posted the last entry I entered a few paintings in a women's art show. I won the Mert Award, fifth place. Not bad for my first show. The painting title is "The Dancer and the Sea," but it is affectionately known as "the boobie painting." Image[/img]

"The boobie painting" Too damn funny
I do like it, want to elaborate on why you named it "The Dancer and The Sea"?

The original concept of this piece was to paint some of the things that I found on the beach while visiting family in Australia.
I painted the shells first and then the boomerrangs. It all made sense until I was compelled to paint the butterfly. I honestly have no idea where the butterfly came in. When the spirit moves I just go with it. So my sweetheart came home and I proudly held the work in progress up in front of me to show. Because the canvas is long, the perspective seemed to line up with my actual figure. He laughed and said," you painted boobs, Nice." I protested and continued painting.
The bottom is supposed to represent waves and tide, the top is the shore all drawn by the wind that moves it. As I was preparing it for the show I decided that "the boobie painting" was the wrong title and I went back to my original concept. All concepts together she looks like a dancer as she moves so do the waves, and the sand, and the sea shells. You can figure out the butterfly because I still scratch my head about it.

There you go.

So it's been an extremely long time since I've been to the Kitten. My life and my family have changed so very much since I started writing and sharing my work here. The last few years I've been volunteering with a local organization bringing support and educational programs to prevent suicide and to shine a light on depression. Every year Just Live, Inc. holds a music festival. This festival is their largest fundraising effort to support the programs. A few years ago I was volunteering at this festival and I met a mother who lost her child to suicide and her story crushed me. Her sorrow as a parent made me ache and I was overcome with sadness and the only way to deal with my pain was to write. I wrote a short story and began to share it with people, with adults and teens that might find something in the story that would create conversation. "Dear Kane; what I wish we would have said" is the title. It is a kindle book and is now available in paperback. It is about the relationship between a parent and a child. It is about hurt and bigotry and most importantly it is about courage. What I am most proud of is that I have partnered with Just Live, Inc. to share proceeds from the sale of this story with the non profit group. Every copy, electronic or paperback, generates a donation.

I have to also share my sincere gratitude with every Kitten that I've met over the years. I have lost touch with so many of you but please know that this place and all of the wonderful Kittens here made me a better human being. You taught me to speak up. You showed me that love is love and we all deserve to have it. Visit my website http://www.dearkane.org Message me at dearkane16@gmail.com if you can't afford to purchase a copy but would still like to read it. It isn't about the money. It's about hope and finding a way to be exactly who we're meant to be.

Being... be brave.
