Hiya *waves to folks in the Lounge*

Nice to meet everyone. I have a tendency to sit quiet until I hit a bursting point and then it's difficult to shut me up. *sigh*

Great new poem Emms. I can feel the apathy (huh, I suspect that's an oxymoron) and contempt of the stranger toward Carolanne. It's such a sad sensation that I often feel when I witness people who perceive others as below them. It's a sadness that I know I could be on the receiving end of such contempt if I didn't purposefully alter my way of speaking.

Thanks for sharing,
teddy

Hi Emms,

Yeahhhh I have been a really bad kitten these day's ...sigh....I'm here now :-D

Great poem so much meaning and so much truth..... people can be so gggggrrrrr sometimes ok maybe a lot of the times. I have met a few of those people and I have seen them a few years later and let me tell y.... what they did to others came back to haunt them. But coming back to the poem .... :clap :clap job. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Teddy, Sj, Jeanne, Gina, Emms, Rhi and everyone that reads this thread it's great to see y all again. I hope you don't mind me wearing shorts and a t-shirt it's just to bloody warm to wear something else. Any one want a glass of water? .....I only drink that these day's since Emms told Charlie to stop giving me beer.

I felt a little :sleep before I knew it.... I fall a sleep next to my glass of water.

Take care and see y soon,

Hey Emms,

It's been a long long long time since you posted a poem...... and since I'm hoping you will post soon not now but in the next couple of day's or weeks.... I have set up a promotion stunt...yeah I'm promoting the lounge.... if Rhi will take the challenge I made for her... then everyone on the board will come to the lounge for a free drink....( hehehe Rhi is paying)

So will there be an extra poem soon for a hard working pr woman... points proud towards myself.

I'd just like to take a moment to say a big thanks to all the lounge patrons that took the time to comment on my last poem "CarolAnne" Thank you Jeanne, Gabbles, Reds,Teddy, Henny,SJ....and of course the ever silent Rhi. That inccendent with CarolAnne actually happend about a month before I wrote that poem, it took me that long to be able to write about it without getting too upset. I absolutely hate when people act as if they are better than another person, just because that person may be a little different than them. We are all equal and special and deserve to be treated with respect.

Anyway...on a lighter note. There's a new pooooeeeemmm :party

I climb up onto the stage, speaking into the microphone I say "this poem is dedicated to my good friend Henny." Charlie motions for the drummer behind me to begin a soft beat as I begin to speak.

Oh and...Ps Henny...I think you make a wonderful PR woman. Keep up the good work and there could be a bonus in your paycheck this month. *wink*

Jeanne walks into the Lounge, looks around then walks to the bar.
"Hey Charlie, it's kinda quiet in here, where is everyone?"
Charlie draws my attention towards the stage where Emms is just getting ready to read a poem. I get a drink and give Emms a little wave as I sit down near the stage to listen to the poem.

Yay! for poem-y goodness from Emms :bounce :D

That was a nice energetic poem sweetie, kinda made me wanna jam with you :) :dance I loved the rhythm of that one.

I loved this bit...
Colors dance
Branch to branch

desperatly searching

rehearsing
in preperation
for their
brand-new
song.

It had such a natural, melodic flow to it. Hmm, that was kinda just another way of saying that I liked the rhythm wasn't it? :hmm Well, it's true. :)

More poems soon? :)
Or, if you just wanna concentrate on fic updates for a while, that's fine too - anything from you is all good :D

Hugs
Jeanne

I jump down off the stage and tackle Jeanne in a big hug. "Yay Sweetie, I'm so happy you liked the poem :-D It looks like you and I are the only two here....lets sit down and have a chat shall we? Hmm?" I take jeanne by the hand and lead her to an empty table. I snap my fingers and Charlie scurries over to our table with a couple drinks balanced on his tray. "Thanks Charlie" I say, taking a sip of my drink. Then turning to Jeanne, "So how have you been sweetie? " I listen intently while jeanne tells me all about the exciting life she's been living since we've seen eachother last.

Hiya Emms!

As a pathetic lightweight drinker, I'll just sip my single beer and steal cherries from the bar. And, maybe, when I get drunk (cuz' a single beer will do it) I'll start tuning my guitar and threatening to sing. lol.

I like the newest poem, Harmonica Man. I kinda had Jackie Greene pictured in my head for some reason. The poem has a beautiful rhythm to it.

cheers,

Ooooowwwoo..OOOOooowwwooo WWWWWOOOO!!!!!
A poem sniffle for me :blush ooobbboy ooo boy I'm speechless I think I'm going to faint :thud

That was woooo and I'm still speechless.... Emms...thank you!!!!!!

As I close my eyes I can feel ... I can see the poem come to life.
Under the tree with red, yellow, green leafs.
Hearing the crackling sound as the wind softly blows through....

Colors dance
branch to branch
like misplaced dancers
desperatly searching

Emms, Harmonica Man is beautiful. The first time I read it I really could see in my mind a middle age men sitting under a tree in the middle of the street waiting until the feeling is right. He takes out his harmonica and starts to play a beautiful blues song. His foot beating on the rhythm of the music. As he did every little child of the town came to sit with him.

Big Al's dressed
to the T
in his black cap
and dusty jeans.

The second and the times after that my vision changed...of course the poem is about music and it has a beat to it...but it isn't about a men sitting in the street.... it really is about the tree....all the leafs are dancers dancing on the soft blowing wind.... as the wind blows through the leafs there is music and that is the harmonica man.

It's really beautiful Emms. Thank you!

PS a bonus do tell...I want to know ....is it... :hmm is it a picture of Amber or Aly or both :-D

=====================================================

Out side of the lounge there are million of people waiting to see the new band of the lounge...it's called the flamey flamingo's...starring

On the saxophone Little Red Ridding hood Jeanne
Next to her on the white guitar it's Cherry Teddy
On the keyboard it's Wicked Reds Gina
To the right on the wild guitar we have Rock Babe SJ
In the middle the golden voice and amazing Melissa Etheridge look a like Rhi
In the back on the drums we have Wild Mysterious Henny
and of course on the hot piano it'sssssss Prom Queen Emmmmms

Take care everyone,

Woo Hoo a new band?? And we are the stars??? hehehehehe. And guess what hens, I can play the piano a little bit.....errr...well, I can play the theme song to "Cheers" and "Chopsticks" but that counts right?? :-D

Jeanne on the sax

Henny on the drums
Rhi singing
and me on the piano?

that sounds like a winning combo sweetie. So, what's our first song gonna be called?

**************************

Did you hear that Teddy? Our PR person here in the lounge, the lovely miss Henny, has decided that we have what it takes to form a band. :glasses

Wow, the Lounge has it's own PR person. That's impressive.

LOL. Born ready? Hm...well, the last garage band I played with in high school broke up due to artistic conflicts. Essentially, we all sucked. We're all still friends, but to this day, we can make dogs howl from four blocks.

Hi Lounge patrons... I know I've been away from the lounge for quite a long time....but I know Rhi and the Henster have been taking care of things in my absence? :glasses :-D

well....here's a poem for you all.

Self-Portrait

It's that feeling you get
in the pit of your stomach
when you lean
too far back in your
chair.
A reflexive grab for the table-top
eyes
wide
while that kamakazee black
fly
gets tangled up in your hair.
Breath caught in a
split,
second,
gasp,
riding the oragmi high tide
of butterd bread,
frozen, and
layerd stiff
in your lap.
Adopting another mans cause
is never a wise Idea.
It's like tacky cement
or gum
stuck to the bottom of your
three
inch
heels.
Snack happier
crack jackier...
it's one of
those
bargain-basement
you snooze you lose
type of deals.
It came in the night
like the smell of trash
unthinkable in its
absence
and
absurd
in its
presence
Money is the root of all evil.
Third world.
Third class.
Third box from the left.
But it's not the money...
it's the being poor
that proves to
kill

Poem-ness :D :bounce

An update to Art Appreciation and a new poem in one day - you're spoiling us sweetie :)

As usual, that's some beautiful poetry sweetie, I loved it :)

I'd love to babble about it, but, it's after midnight here in the UK & my mind's not quite awake enough to think of anything insightful, or clever, or even coherent at the moment. So, I'll just say that it was wonderful & I loved it, oh & the ending was incredibly powerful.

But it's not the money...
it's the being poor
that proves to
kill

Yesterday I was thinking ...ok me and using my brain is dangerous....but I was wondering when the lounge was open again and woooops it is.

Wooo Emms that is really deep going. You are giving me a hard time to explain all the emotions I'm feeling. It is the worlds word that you wrote. It's the worlds word that you explained..........opening the eyes of others. Lets hope the world will change as it flowers up towards a new beginning. Thank you for the poem Emms.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Well what can I say...I was in the lounge the whole time Emms...I missed y I'm glad your back.....and Rhi well Rhi is on a long vacation she went after Brenda. I think they are really busy :wink... you know what I mean.

Yesterday I was talking with some hot ladies here in the lounge and uhhhhhhmm they said I was to chicken to sing so if you don't mind I'm going to sing a little something.

Jumps on stages..... Charlie hit the piano... give me some rock dude.

This one is for Tina...Amber....Aly... Bette... and all the other cute little ladies out there that want my number.

I'm a Love Stud....
That's what I am...
a Love Stud...

I like to cuddle and snuggle...
and I have a golden heart

and still I'm a Love Stud....
a real Soft Stud!!!
That's what I am.

Thank you Thank you..... runs off to get a drink at the bar....

* * * * * * * * * * * *
I slowly climb the stairs to the darkened stage. Silently standing in the center. A spot light reveals my presence. I look around through the smoky haze and I see a few new faces in the crowd among my friends. I take the mic and clear my throat. Silence creeps through the lounge. Soon only the clinking of the ice in drink glasses can be heard. I look to Emms, a smile crosses my face and I speak…

"Knock, knock".

"Who’s there"? The crowd asks.

"Rhi".

"Rhi who"? The crowd once again asks.

"Rhi-member me"?

The audience groans at my lame joke, but I see a smile on Emms face and I smile back. I jump down off the stage and hug Emms and all of my good friends.

I say hi to SJ, Henny, Jeanne, Stace and everyone. I welcome Teddy, Evonne and gabbles to the lounge.
Has anyone seen Gina? I miss my drinking buddy.
Henny…that is one a**-kickn’ band you have put together…lets rock the Flamingo Lounge….’Luv Stud’ :-D :lol :-D

Emms,
All of your poems are wonderful… :bow :bow :bow :bow :bow

“Let Us Raise Our Voices”

A new way of life
must be forged from this
burning,
desolate,
landscape
that we are forced to call
society, and a
new
Mother Earth
born from it's ashes.

Very strong and powerful words. I loved it.

“Carolanne”

It’s sad…no one has time or no one cares. They think they are better than others…but they are wrong. Good execution of the feeling Emms.

“Harmonica Man”
Very nice poem. I see that the whole rhythm obsession that you have works well here… :lol :lol :lol and it flows beautifully.

“Self Portrait”

Emms,
This is a very insightful poem.
I love this stanza:

But it's not the money...
it's the being poor
that proves to
kill

That speaks volumes.

Nice poems Emms. :clap :clap :clap More please… :-D :-D :-D
Or an update to any one of your fics works too :-D :-D :-D

Hi Everyone! *hears the resounding "HI EMMS" * as people shout their greeting. I feel like Norm from "Cheers" . hehe. I notice the singer on stage. Is that a Wayne Newton impersonator?? Oh NO! it's worse than an impersonator, it's the actual Wayne Newton! What is this Ceaser’s Palace? Who let Wayne Newton in here?? sighing, I'll have to deal with the crooning man later.

I walk over to the bulletin board next to my office. I see that someone has tacked up a rather funny looking caricature of me...it seems as though someone thinks I've become a pirate in my absence from the lounge and has drawn an eye-patch over my left eye with a black magic marker. I give Charlie the evil eye, because I suspect him of chicanery. But I brighten a little when I notice Henny has been hard at work.

Next to the picture of me as a pirate (I might mention that there is also black-magic-marker stubble and a blacked out tooth involved in this caricature.) there is a post-it note about a new art gallery in town! It looks like fun. I will definitely have to check that out sometime. Maybe we can ask the artist if she will hang some of her artwork in The Lounge. Then I notice Jeanne and Teddy in deep conversation at the table furthest from the mellow stylings of Mister Wayne Newton. They seem deep in conversation and I wonder what they're talking about over there.

Taking out a postcard from my purse, I remove the "me as a pirate" picture and use the thumb-tack to pin up a postcard that I received from Rhi and Big Brenda.

It reads:

Dear Friends, as you all know when I left to follow my dream to become a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys I never thought that I would see any of you again. But I'm happy to announce that I will be coming back to The lounge next week as I've been informed that I just don't have what it takes to support a pyramid of women in short skirts and belly shirts. (where did I go wrong?) But Rhi has been here for me in my time of need and I'm thinking about asking her to marry me....Do you think she'll say yes? or am I just wasting my time on another pipe-dream ) Anyway...see you all next week. Send my love to Henny.

sincerely,
Brenda
