Cynical Rant

Disillusionment is a grand attire,
sewn by fools with mortal desires.
Spun on silk and fancy things,
and all the grandeur life seldom brings.

It's an addiction,
A blessing,
An Obsession,
A gift.

Passing goats through iron walls.
Burning dreams and chasing stars,
of unattainable glittery stuff they might lend.
Happiness by association is easy to spend.

Borrowed splendor never lasts.
Put down your money
and pass the cash.

A lyrical Verse

I'm like another person,

lost in time;

In another world,

another season.

Just tryin' to make you mine.

You're like the wind

on a wild sea.

You're a padded room

with rubber walls.

You're my safety in numbers

I want to make you mine.

Chasing the drop-off

With its illusively jagged shoal.

Let's see just how fast I'd have to fly,

how much I'd have to cry;

my eyes are burning black as coal.

Just to make you mine.

Canon in D

is the music to which I sway;

A melodious note,

A tedious play.

Can't I find the words?

Can't I make the sound?

The poetically tragic verse

that brings me to the ground.

Just to make you mine.

****************

I hope that didn't suck too much.

Left

Smashing to pieces,

Breaking apart;

The treasure's been scattered

Devoid of the vault.

Frantically pacing,

Meticulously retracing,

The miles of prints

You've tracked on my heart.

Bloody and broken,

Smothered and bruised.

Was my love just a token?

Did you have something to prove?

With worn cries,

Engraving my mark.

Desperately pleading

Alone in the dark.

Losing's a game

I know I can win.

As the curtain is drawn

I scream this is the end.

Did you?

Skipping stones into Iron pots.

The plinking's in time to the beating.

Do you hear it my dear?

The woods are thick

My heart is not.

I asked: Did you hear it?

The air is thinner here,

The water's murky.

Do you hear it my dear?

With unshed tears...

I asked: Did you hear it?

The woods are dense

and it's all up hill.

your shoulders are tense.

Do you feel it my dear?

My hands across your skin...

I asked: Did you feel it?

Your silence stings

it cuts like a knife. oh but the rapture

that one word would bring.

Do you feel it my dear?

Breath forming impossibility in frigid air...

I asked: Did you feel it?

Across the valley, your shadows loom.

spelling out words,

They add to the gloom

Do you see it?

Im a novice...

I asked; Did you see it?

With my heart on my sleeve

Im a novice just out for the hunt

It's easy to bleed.

I said I'm a novice...

Did you hear it?

The room is dim. There's the sound of soft piano music flowing from the corner of the lounge and the smell of vintage wine wafting up from behind the bar.

Henny... You did miss happy hour...but fortunately I had the bartender save a blue umbrella just for you. ;) *slaps the bar* *speaks to bartender in commanding but jovial manner* And Charlie...get the lady a drink, on the house. ;)

***********

Stace Yes please... print...paste...staple...tape...do what you must. :D just don't glue your fingers together in the process...cause that's just no fun. :)

I'm glad you liked the poem....though...please continue to breath. I'd really rather not have to resort to artificial resuscitation...it's icky... and there could be bodily fluids. :shock and not the happy kind either. The unhappy kind. The not breathing, tongue flopping, eyes in the back of the head, rolling around like pool balls kinda fluid... let me just say...never a good time. :D

Wow...I just realized I'm a little :crazy woo...

Yvonne Thanks for reading sweetie. Pull up a chair...It may be be late but The Flamingo Lounge never closes.

The stage is lit. All eyes are silently watching the woman as she moves center stage. Someone coughs in the background and the young lady looks sheepishly into the sparse crowd. She adjusts the microphone, lowering it until it's level with her features. "please forgive the randomness of this next piece...it was inspired by one of Stace's poems...I don't recall which one now...maybe all of them. Anyway.. It reminded me of how much I love my wife and how hard it was to be in a long-distance relationship. Young love isn't it dreamy?"

Taking his cue, the piano player sets the tone of the piece with the tinkling of a light Jazz number.

What's the matter baby?

I love you.

Those words over and over again.

Different days...

In different ways...

What's the matter baby?

What's the matter baby?

I love you.

Those words over and over again.

spoken deeply...

spoken sweetly...

What's the matter baby?

What's the matter baby?

Those words over and over again.

I wan't your touch...

You talk too much...

What's the matter baby?

As I walked into The Flamingo Lounge.

Hearing the soft piano music flowing.

An other day, an other time...

It wouldn't matter......

Shivers running through my soul.

From the sound of the soft sweet womans voice...

It brought back memories.

Memories of pain.

Memories of hurt and anger.

Memories of love and understanding.

Memories of passion.

Memories of memories.

Note by Note.

Song by Song.

The pain.... the hurt... the passion.....

All those memories combined...

Combined into one song.

A song that runs through my soul.

A free drink you say?

Just give me a chocolate on the rocks.

I still have to drive... an other thousand miles.

As night falls and the evening is gone.

I know it's time to move on.

As I leave the bar behind.

I noticed the young happy Flamingo couple.

Until next time Emms.... and thanks for the poem.

(I felt doing something crazy.... so I hope you didn't mind)

**********************

Hey Emms,

So after the whole going :crazy talk.... I will give y some feedback.

That was just wwooooooooooo it's perfect and beautiful and wooooooooo. You got talent but that you all ready know!!! :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Stace I'm gald to see you made it though the ordeal pretty much intact....well....except for the whole..."I glued my hands together" situation...but don't be embarrassed... we can't all be crafty... it would be a boring world if everyone was just walkin' around with...you know, full use of their appendages...

anyway... :laugh I'm glad you liked the poem. It was simple and..err... repetitive but I think it said a lot too.

Emms,

Thank you for your kind words... but what I wrote is really nothing... especially compared to your work. To ease your mind, no I haven't got a thread. I have one fic but that isn't the same thing. This was the first time I ever posted something like it. And I nearly erased it because it felt weird to post it... and I didn't knew if you mind if I did it on your thread. At that moment it seemed fun because your thread has a story beside the poems I love that so I thought why not join in.... in your lounge just for one time.

Thank you again for your words and for the rose it really means a lot to me.

Rose hehe Hi there! :laugh thanks for reading!

I thought your words were cool...therefore it must be, that you are cool as well....sometimes we can't see our own coolness factor, so we need someone to point it out to us. :) I think you are very cool. ;)

:love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love

Rhiannon Hi girly! There you are! :wave hehehe :blush

you liked Did you? that's one of my favorites too. It took me the longest time to come up with the title for that one though...which i'm ashamed to admit considering the fact that I just pulled the words right out of the poem... SO... with that in mind...I'll stop typing now.. hehe

:love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love

The woman on stage winks at Rhiannon. She moves a stool into the center of the stage and sits down.

The woman puts her hand up and the sound of the piano stops. The room is quiet..The only sound is the clinking of glasses as Charlie continues to pour drinks at the bar.

"For those of you that don't know...when I say Sprung, what I mean is.. that feeling you get when you find yourself completely head-over-heal for that special someone. When you can't eat...and you cant sleep and you can't breath without them next to you...you're sprung."

A man moves in the rear of the stage. He sits down at the drum-set. Hidden in shadows he begins to play a simple rhythm on the snare. It's soft and easy. Getting lost in the slow tempo of the metallic tapping... the woman begins to speak.

Sprung

So I'm sprung?

It's a timeless dance.

The oldest verse.

A musical game.

Sung in Aramaic

spoken in tongues.

Sprung. From the

tips of my fingers.

It flows to the

souls of my toes.

A delicate expressing...

I'm quickly undressing

as soft scented clothes drift to the floor.

Sprung is the

moonlight mixing and blending

with the soft, silk of her hair.

Her sweet breath licking,

burning trails of hazy flames.

The clock is ticking

at perpetual midnight.

It's my heart that needs fixing.

Sprung like the seeds

that grow from the ground.

Sprung like the rain

that leaks from the clouds.

Sprung like a prisoner...

It's me that's been found.

Caressing satin clad skin

Darling, where have you been?

Quite by chance

I'm sprung.
