Writing help

Postby EndlessDestiny » Mon Jan 14, 2008 12:26 pm

I've been working on a story for a while now and I keep having trouble writing it. I know what I want to happen, I'm just having trouble focusing on writing an geting into the flow. Any writing suggestions or tips?
For all those words of tongue and pen, the saddest are those: "It might have been."

Tara ended up next to Oz in the elevator. He looked at her, nodding to himself.
"What?" She asked.
"You look good. Kinda radiant."
Tara nodded. "I was resurrected a few days ago."
Oz arched an eyebrow. "That'll do it."

I usually listen to music when I write as I find it helps me concentrate better also have a notebook of ideas.

All I can offer is sympathy. I have been stuck on the same chapter of my story for more than a year, even though I have it entirely planned out. If I get through my writer's block at some point, I'll let you know how I did so. My condolences for your writing troubles.

This might be something that could help you in the long run: get involved in a debuting writers' group (online or in your region), write as much as you can unabashedly and get your fellow co-writers to produce constructive criticism. It would act as a good feedback loop – the more you showcase your work, the more your ideas will seek exteriorisation.

SJ came up with some nice points as well I think – merging your writing with something you love or keeping a notebook of ideas handy.

All the best with your story,
