I want to add my thanks to everyone who went to the Con. I have to admit I'm a little jealous, but thanks for your reports. Xita, let me say you are the best. Thank you so much for telling Joss how you felt, how we all feel. I don't know if I would have been able to do it. I'm glad that you were able to say your piece. Thanks again

Guys, thanks a lot for what you had to say. I may have recalled something wrong, like joss as you will hear on Rally's media didn't say that's brutal, he said, that's hard core.. the memory is slippery when you are nervous.

It was hard, I wasn't nervous about Amber or anything, but this nearly killed me in line. I didn't want to talk to him but I had to tell him something , I also knew I was representing kitties, so I didn't want to sound too angry or fanatical and I wanted to say stuff, I probably could have phrased things a lot different and I was emotional so what came out came from the heart. So I am sorry, no I didn't have stats or details. But thanks to all of you for your support. I only wish I'd said it better.

Xita, I am sure you did fine, and I am so glad you and Rally were representing us there- I can't think of two better Kittens to do so. Thank you both so much.

I don't want to jump ahead, I am trying to get things out and in a some what orderly fashion. Xita and I had to tag team both Amber and Joss. As a result we forgot to get pics with Amber and I didn't get the opportunity to photograph Joss with the shirt.

I am finishing up my Friday report and will get to Saturday just as soon as I can. That will include the Joss/Xita/Rally audio. Thanks for your patience.

Well officially, of course, I have to say that I have no idea what you're talking about.

Let me second that! Thanks so much for representing us Xita and Rally! You made us proud! Joss needed to see the face of the people he hurt, he needed to hear from you so he could understand what was done, and now he has.

I cried when I read your post Xita. I know it came right from your heart.

Postby Iamyouknowyours » Mon Aug 05, 2002 9:48 pm

I am so happy that someone actually made it over to Joss. I was majorly pissed that I missed him, but no way was I going to let him interfere with a precious second of my time with Amber. She's worth 1,000,000 times what he'll ever be. Besides, I don't think anyone esle could have said what the kitten and gay community is feeling better. I just hope that he got my letter too, because I would have liked to tell him how much he had hurt me personally as well.

The T-shirt was brutal huh? Well not nearly as brutal as her death. that's what I say.

And it was so nice to finally meet you, though I'm sure I will see you again at Willow/Tara related events :)

Oh and Xita I was just wondering, would you mind if I put up a copy of your picture of Amber with the Got Tara T-shirt on my fan encounters page of Merciful Zeus? My own pictures are gonna get developed tomorrow, but I think that one in particular is just great. I wouldn't want to use it with out permision though.

And congrats on the success of the Trevor Project so far. It's always nice to see good come out of something horrible :)

I wonder if other fans who were at SD can tell me where I can find the pics on their websites? I just feel a bit eager to see how it was at SD.:) Also, I have some pics from TT16 but I don't know how to scan them and post them on my website or other places. I wish anyone can give me some good advice..I would be very grateful for your help!!!:grin

Thanks again to everyone for your reports and pics, i can't wait to see/read more...

And Xita, i'm so sure you did great with Joss. It came from the heart, and that's thousands times better than a well prepared and unemotinal speech. At least, he could feel the pain he did to us. I don't know if it will change anything, but it's important that we make ourselves heard. So, thank you... and that too comes from the heart ;)

Rally you are so cool. Looking forward to all the information. Didn't I say we got the detail with Rally? Yup!

Yeah maybe another round of letters to the Advocate is in order.

I'm weighing in here with an unpopular point of view; this I know. But I like Nancy Holder's work, despite her reaction to Rally's shirt. I'm hoping that kittens who write her a letter will be respectful in that regard. It's entirely possible she's not aware of certain things that have happened although yes, I know she recognised the kitten logo.

I'm just sayin'.

Just some random thoughts while catching up with this thread:

Amber is gorgeous. No ifs ands or buts.(Speaking of "buts" did anyone get any "butt" shots of Amber? Tee hee! :grin )

Also does anyone know what kind of shampoo Amber uses? I mean, her hair is just so shiny, not to mention beautiful. I really like the color. It looks wonderful!!

Ruth,

Yes I didn't want people to over react to Nancy's reaction. It was very amusing, I am not sure if she expected to make some scene or what. But she did take the time to read the Advocate article, inquire about SDKs comments and in general get a quick education on the facts.

Hopefully she keep those things in mind the next time she reacts to what she perceives to be the angry lesbians that "won't let it go".

Right, I thought as much. She was wearing a Spike t-shirt for God's sake; sounds like she's in need of some quick education about...well, everything. Heh. ;)

Could Rally or Zita please expand a bit about the convo with Andy Mangels. Did we really make Marti cry? Why was it so hard to organize the interview etc? What was up with Joss in that regard?

Coma123

Re: Re: San Diego Comic Con

Postby Rally » Tue Aug 06, 2002 9:42 am

Um no, he did not make her cry, he said she was nearly in tears discussing about killing of Tara. But she also explained to him that she was pregnant, so ya know, homorones and all. Also that she can't read the letters that have been sent to her about Tara's death, because "it's too painful".

Joss' handlers, agents and what not did not want Joss talking to the Gay Press. Marti would not speak to Andy about the article unless Joss did as well. I don't remember the details behind how Andy finally got a hold of Joss, but he agreed to do the interview and so did Marti.

At the last minute Andy found out about the Kitten and the FAQ and contacted Xita to get some reactions from us. He said he had 20 pages of quotes from us.

It was a difficult article in that he had problems getting a hold of everyone and had so many things to touch on and such limited space. Then of course the whole us vs ME type attitude. The outrage from the fans that now hate us or are jealous of us. A lot of people are trying to sweep this under the rug now with the new season fast approaching. It should also be interesting to see what the Advocate prints in the way of letters.

Interesting to hear about Joss's handelers and there attitude, seems there afraid of something.....

Funny how Joss was previously sooooo willing to give interviews to the gay press. Marti's attitude is also interesting leaving aside the tears, I kinda get the feeling she's a bit more sympathetic towards us then Joss.

Your right about them trying to sweep it under the carpet though, which I guess what the handelers are trying to do, still we're keeping the pressure up which is good.

Anyone else get the feeling though that Whedon has surrounded himself with 'yes-men' though?

I think I remember Andy saying that after he did the interview with Marti, Marti walked down the hallway and told Joss she had just finished being interviewed by the Advocate and Joss felt left out and wanted to be interviewed too. I also think that was the point at which Andy said that Joss felt somewhat snubbed b/c he didn't make the Advocate's list of the "100 Men We Love the Most". Anyway, I got the impression that Andy was eventually able to interview Joss at least in part b/c Joss decided he wanted to give the interview and worked from his end to cut through the morass of Fox publicity people.
