We all had knowledge of Tara's death. It was all over the internet for a year and not hard to stumble across at all. We knew here for months before it happened that it was happening for sure.

and is his belief that spirit tara in spikes storyline will occur based on his discussion with marti and joss? that would jive/explain his gay agenda annoucement that he cirulated where he believed joss would make an annoucement on tara's return



or is tara's return just his own read and speculation off the spoiler boards

It seemed to me he was speaking from an insider point of view about knowing about Tara's death prior to Seeing Red. But since everyone did, I just kind of discounted that he might have known something that everyone else didn't.

so if he/the advocate was given some inside line on tara's death then perhaps the studios were doing preemptive damage control, expecting the fall out.

Perhaps if the gay media was given early warning/spin of a tara return, it would explain the paucity of coverage on the W/T issue on their part?

I think he was exaggerating, i mean he had not contacted Joss or Marti till way after the fact.. when he contacted me about the article it had been a good month since the events and he had just been contacted for the article. Supposedly the advocate commissioned it because of the letters they got.

He flat out stated, he knew about Tara's death before Seeing Red. That is a quote. Again though, since everyone knew about Tara's death prior to Seeing Red, it doesn't amount to a whole hill of beans in my book.



Very nice guy, I spoke with him again on Sunday. But, to give you a bit of insight to that dicussion prior to my formal account, he didn't even know that Amber was at the show.



Of course I looked at the Wireimage pics and didn't know half those ppl were at the show.

Okay.. cannot remain silent any longer...must relay my cool con experience.... despite the fact that I wasn't even there...



Okay.. so my fellow kitten and lurker... who shall remain nameless... went to the con b/c I could not leave Las Vegas due to a contractual obligation to a show I am in here in town.



I play a character in a murder mystery who gets shot.



Anyway...



So... my friend picks up a photo-cover Wilderness comic and goes to the signing.



She approaches Amber and says:



"Do you mind signing this one for a friend of mine who had to stay in Vegas and get shot tonight."



And Amber had this look of total shock on her face:







And Amber says:



"Oh my god, is she an undercover cop?"



And my friend says:



"No she's an actor in a show and she had a contractual obligation to stay and get shot. She thought you would understand."



And Amber looks up at my friend with her big blue eyes and soft hair and says:



"You know, oddly enough I do."



And then she signed my comic:



"To {insert real name here}, Much , Amber 'Good Shot!'"



And I lived happily ever after.

When Andy said he was having a hard time getting through all the Fox publicists to set up his interview with Joss, he said the publicists told him they were worried that the Advocate was going to slam Joss as a homophobe. I interpreted that to mean that Andy's difficulties reaching Joss arose after the fallout from Seeing Red. I don't think Andy said anything one way or another about his accessibility to Joss and Marti before Seeing Red.



FWIW, I completely agree with Rally and Xita's take on Andy knowing in advance that Tara would die. When he said that he knew before Seeing Red he said it like he had some sort of inside source but the first thing that ran through my head was "did you know before July 2001?" but I didn't bother asking him since the depth of Andy's spoiler sources was pretty OT to what we were talking about.



I got the impression that Andy's statement that Tara would be back was based on his "inside information" -- possibly something Joss or Marti told him during an interview but told him not to print. But I also got the impression that Andy was not necessarily familiar with the whole "Amber will be back but not Tara" distinction and so Andy may have said Tara when actually he had been told Amber. I thought the Tara as spirit guide and part of Spike's storyline was his own guess about how she would return and was not based on inside info.



And Amy, thanks for a pricless tagline for our weekend in SD:

Hotel Circle... most people don't know what Hotel Circle is, but Rally does. *Time for boring Rally memoir moment now, take a moment to stick your finger down your throat as necessary.* So Rally little 18 year old Rally, before she was Rally, back then she was *nicknames that would date her horribly*, we will call her Reno.



She hears from a lot of new friends that San Diego is the place to go. She needs to go to San Diego for this really cool comic convention. So on a whim she hops a plane to San Diego, on her way to attend her very first SDCC.



The first thing the taxi driver does with the gulliable little tourist is takes her to the old convention center. Well, that convention center is gone now (housing a Gordon Biersh among other things). But hotel circle still remains.



The point of that divergence is that Xita and her possee were staying in hotel circle, which is a considerable way from downtown San Diego.



We veg there before eventually getting in touch with NoveltyAct, whom is taking the trolley to meet up with us. The trolley places her in front of Target (was it Target or Kmart, useless damn details, I remember GB though ) So what now you might ask... well apparently NA has a bit of a problem with over passes... she can't see them. After much negotiating, we are off to rescue her and head to my hotel.



Off to my hotel, where I finally get my room roughly 10 PM, we head up and find it nicely located just across from the elevators and a temperate 90 degrees in side. Seems the maid or the previous tenants thought it was a good idea to leave the heater on high all day. This of course began the hotness or Rally, doofus jokes. I will leave it at that statement.



So off in search of food. For some reason walking the streets of SD seemed like a good idea to who again? :P Eventually we made our way downtown and across lots of joints no longer serving food. We finally found Hennessey's Pub still serving food, but the draw back being a very loud band.



Meat and Beer all around, except for RG who decided Salad and Soda was a good alternative to make her the object of our ridicule. However she need not worry, because little did we know Sass the food masher was going to take over when the band sat down for Black & Tans.



Clover shaped potatoes beware, fries, what have you nothing was safe from the elbow of Sass. Gallagher really needs to consider the competition in the future, he uses a sledgehammer, Sass just her very, hmmm, *ducking thrown objects over this descriptor* petite elbow. No really Sass is huge, don't mess with her. Err, um getting on with the story.



So NA, Sass and Xita disapear, leaving RG and I wondering what the hell happened to everyone. Apparently, Xita was having bathroom sex with some blonde bimbo. Sass and NA were outside questioning the locals about the nearest well to water our party at.



We left Hennesseys in search of Ralphs for late night drinks and snacks, so we could head back to the suite and watch some zombie porn. We raided the Ralphs shelves, hauled all the items to the counter, only to be told they don't sell liquor after 12. It was 12:15 AM. Lame asses.



New plan, we split up. NA and RG drive to a liquor store. Xita, Sass and I walk back to the room. Eventually we meet back up, we have booze, we have zombie porn we have all night. Or at least as long as the lot of us drunken wenches can stay awake.



After a failed attempt to torture them with my Spuffy videos, we move to the zombie porn. It was a generally quite crowd, we were tired and the movie was, well boring. That would be Resident Evil, fyi. The others took off about 3 AM and I got ready to sleep. Finally hit the pillow about 3:30 AM, while watching Sports Center. Plenty of time for other things on Saturday.

well, kittens...i have previously refrained from posting any report since i didn't attend the con itself, but rather, as a proper groupie to the *real* stars of this board , popped down to sd to hang out and be naughty with other kittens.



oh, who am i kidding? let's just call a ho a ho, and not beat around the bush about it. *cough* er, so to speak.



regardless, i see that i will now have to step forward to set the record straight on some of these details and defend the honor of...um, to set the record straight. no doubt this will again become necessary after rally posts *her* version of saturday night , but for now, just two points:



1) sassette is not a food smasher, she's a food disciplinarian. those potatoes were being very, very naughty (they were only three-leaf, not four. what kind of rude behavior is *that* toward such an esteemed guest?).



and don't think those potatoes (not to mention the avocado, hard-boiled egg, and dill pickle, which was particularly incorrigible) didn't learn their lesson. sass *is* the brute squad.



2) it was a target. there was also a gordon biersch and a hooters nearby, which i mentioned as alternative meeting places for them to pick me up, but noooo, we went with target. (?!?! you might say--which i did, i assure you--but apparently in their post-dick's state, rally, xita, and relativegirl heard "hooters," said "okay," and promptly showed me theirs from the balcony of their 12th floor room. which, despite being a quarter-mile away, across a 3-lane highway, behind a thicket of trees, and down a hill, i somehow managed to miss.)

No, I wasn't bogarting the memories, but I was ... revelling in them.



It's long ... so beware. I turned a Comic Con trip into a Buffy/SiP adventure! I'll skip the Terry Moore stuff because it's not really relevent here (just know that he did a special sketch for me ... and it includes a kiss from Kixie to Katchoo!!)



Okay, Friday ... skipping everything from preview night until the line for Emma Caulfield ... *fast forwards events in mind -- giggles -- that was a funny one -- stops on Friday* ...



While standing in line for Emma, my girlfriend and I overhead a guy behind us say that Michelle Trachtenberg was signing at the Inkworks booth. My face goes to an immediate pout as I can't possibly choose between Anya and Dawn. Lucky for me, I have the most wonderful, perfect, gorgeous ... uhm ... anyway, my girlfriend is really nice.



She offered to go downstairs, check it out and call me from down there to let me know if it's really her. So ... I continue to stand in line. We talk about Bunny Anya (the cool action figure Moore was selling/sold out of) and all things Buffy.



All of a sudden, my phone rings (an adorable, Muppet Show theme ring, by the way) and I answer --- anticipating the news that I would be missing Michelle. Instead, well here's how I remember it:



Her: It's, uhm, sweetie ... it's not Michelle.

Me: Good! I'm not missing anything.

Her: Actually, it's, I'm coming up now. It's someone else.

Me: Who ... (not a question, just long and drawn out ... )

Her: It's AmberBenson (she said it REALLY fast)

Me: I'm missing Amber? *whine whine* But it's not Saturday!

Her (as she walks up to me): She's signing (hangs up phone) and she'll be here tomorrow too.

Me: *pout pout*



Getting back to how nice my g/f is ... she offered to hold our place in line so I could get a peek at Amber. I speed walk through the convention and ... *heavenly light shines down* ... there she is.



Now, I had already made up my mind that they cut the line off. So, I just stood there ... unbeknownst to me ... at the end of the line. I brought a few things (trading card and comic) to have signed, just in case, but I really thought I'd have no chance. So ... I snapped pictures (nearly a whole roll!) and stayed behind the guy in front of me ... as we moved forward. Then I realized ... I'm next in line!



*Pretty exact verbage below*

Me: Hi *smiles shyly*. Could you sign these ... please?

Amber: *Big smile* Of course, to ... *looks at my badge* Jessica?

Me: *nods* I'm a, uhm, a kitten and *rolls eyes, feeling stupid* we really just, we love you.

Amber: Awww, Kittens! *closes eyes, puts both hands in front of mouth and blows a big kiss to all the kittens ... MWAH sound included* Thank you!

*pale, dumbfounded* Th-thank you. Uhm, I know there's only two things allowed, but my girlfriend waited in another line for me so I could meet you. Could you sign something for her?

Amber: Which line?

Me: Emma *shrugs* She's upstairs right now.

Amber: Oh! Cool! Yeah, what's her name? *grabs a postcard with her season 5 promo*

Me: Steph

Amber: P-H, not F right?

Me: *nods* And did you know you're opposite Joss tomorrow?

Amber: *looks up and squints at me* I-interesting ... *blows on her signature and then hands me Steph's card*

Me: *big smile* And, since I'm greedy with the Amber stuff, could I also get a picture?

Amber: With me?

Me: *nods really dramatically, eyes wide open* Please *in tiny tiny voice, LOL)

Amber: Sure! *waves me over and put her arm around me ... some nice guy takes our pic*

Me: Thank you so much.

Amber: Thank you *another big Amber smile*



I run off to find my girlfriend giggling the whole way ...



And FYI, I got back up to Emma's line in time to watch her blow kisses to the crowd and leave. She was supposed to sign from 5:30-7:30, but was there from 5:25-5:35 ... all of 10 minutes. *shrug* No explanation was given as to her speedy departure.
