Perhaps Jealous Events just assumed Amber would be there, even before everything was finalized, just like I believe Josswad assumed Amber would return to Buffy Season Severed, regardless of in what capacity.

Please keep in mind that some kind of funky junk seems to be going on with Jealous Events. Seems Amber's appearance was not a bona fide Done Deal. The organizer's were told this in no uncertain terms and were again reminded of this fact last week. That Amber might have prior work commitments. In addition to the fact that Chance was NOT going to be made available for sale at this venue.

Don't know what these folks find hard to understand. The N or the O.

Message From Chris Golden

Postby T Maclay » Mon Jul 21, 2003 5:15 pm

Chris Golden posted this on the Essence Board today:

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings folks, but LW's out of town and Diane B. asked me to post this for her.

You all know by now that there was never any plan to sell the DVD at the August UK convention.

While a tour had been only tentatively discussed, no agreement was ever finalized and any announcement was very premature. It's not my place to comment further, except to say this: There will be no European Tour at this time, and despite what has been posted by the intended organizers, Diane has asked me to say that the organizers were told this last week in no uncertain terms.

Also, I'm afraid there's more. Given the manner in which things have been conducted, Diane has also asked that I note that it is POSSIBLE that work commitments will prevent Amber from attending the main event at all. While this is always the case, there is a specific potential conflict. Under normal circumstances, no announcement would be made until there was confirmation one way or the other, but given the expectations that have been inaccurately presented, Diane thought it best to caution everyone that this is a possibility. The organizers were also made aware of this last week.

There may be more to come once LW has returned, but for now, Diane has promised to have an announcement posted here once the final decision is made regarding the 3 day event.

This is really a shame that this is happening. But it's not so much a thing of counting one's chickens before they hatch, as it is not dealing with reality. Diane told the Jealous Events Peeps that this was NOT a DONE DEAL. Emphatically told them that.

These Jealous Event folks obviously do not have it together. I think I know where they may have it, but it's not together.

Then to Ban people from the forum because they are attempting to point out a very glaring inaccurate mistatement as such. That's total crap.

Hmm well I checked out the website last night and the Amber tour page is still up.

I just wish they would make up their damned minds and get on with it. Or even if Amber could give us all a yeh or neh on it it would save a whole lot of time and energy.

Ok as Chris Golden has graciously posted the information from Diane Benson. Please sit tight. I know folks have saved long and hard to go to these events. But the organizers posted this BEFORE anything was firmly agree upon.

Jealous Events are the ones that have some serious 'splainin' to do.

The possilbility that Amber may have work commitments is after all a bonus for the fans. Screen time folks, very wonderful indeed!!

So let's sit tight and wait for Diane, Amber and/or Little Willow to give us further information.

Chino6069: If you previously booked-marked a direct link to the tour page, it will still work but the page is no longer on the Jealous Events site - it has been removed.

If you go to the "live" Upcoming Events page you will see that the Amber tour page is now missing.

I am both sad :sob and glad :) that Amber is not doing this convention.

Sad for selfish reasons, i.e. because I will not get to see her.

Glad because that means she has work, and therefore doing what we all love her for.

I had had mixed feelings when I had seen the con dates, because I thought darn, she did not get that part she was auditioning for before she went to moonlight rising, so perhaps......!

Hi I too have had bad dealings with Jealous Events, they still have not notifed people and are still stating that they are just upgrading. I can no longer post there as have been banned for telling the thruth. I too have emailed them :

Just wondering when Jealous Events is going to do the honourable thing and notify people that the Amber Benson Tour is not happening, instead of just deleting all the posts on the posting board about it and putting all the members on Moderation who feel that others have the right to know what the truth is. You found out about this for sure last week, which is why all the details were removed from the site, so why not say it was cancelled instead of just removing it and lying saying that it is still happening, but you are just upgrading the site.

Due to the bad way I have been treated on your board and that fact that you are/have been falsy advertising, I am now looking into what I can do to get this site closed down for doing just that. -False Advertising is illegal, advertising something that you never had confirmed is just false. So I will be doing what I can to keep Amber Bensons name in tack, to let her fans know it was not her who has back out of this, as she NEVER confirmed that she will be able to do it.

I suggest as I said at the beginning that you and Glenn Dellimore, stop hiding and play games and do the right thing.

I have also found there forum host site email address and will be emailing them to notify them of what Jealous events is doing. It is against my host rules, so Im guessing it's against theres. If anyone else is interested in complaining to about the treatment they have recieved on the board for being honest, the email address is....

Maybe this sounds a bit harsh to some of you, but they way they are treating people is not acceptable.

Yep, might very well give that email a go and make my complaint.

I am EXTREMELY angry at Jealous Events over this, especially as they seemed to have done this quite deliberately. It is highly unprofessional.

I do hope, however, that two things come out of this:

1) Amber does not stop doing conventions based on this experience. There are a lot of good convention organisers who can run things with more integrity than Jealous Events seem to have.

2) That, having seen the support that she has over in Europe and the UK, Amber wiil at some point in the very near future, undertake a European tour to meet and greet the fans who are no doubt upset that they will not see her.

WE LOVE YOU, AMBER!!! PLEASE COME AND SEE US SOON!!

When I read that Amber Benson was coming to Manchester I was over the moon.

The way that Jealous events have been acting has rather tempered this excitement. Even if this all does go ahead I would be wary about going as the way that JE have acted makes me feel that this will just be another moonlight ripoff.

I don't personaly think that you are being harsh. The way to respond to people who have posted corrections at their site is to either admit that some details are still being finalised or to explain how that person is mistaken. It's certainly not right to ban those people.

IMNSHO for a professional company to treat people that might well be paying a lot of money to come to the convention like mushrooms is totaly unacceptable.

I'm sorry for ranting but as I said I was rather excited over the opportunity to see Amber Benson so now that it's turning out to be rubbish I'm getting a bit cranky.

I understand, you should be with the person you l-love

How could Jealous Events advertise something they hadn't even confirmed with Amber? :rolleyes . I can't even think about the main event at the moment - I'm just keeping everything crossed :pray

Yeah, i saw that too, I PM'ed Scully for the second time after seeing that, as at frst I thought maybe she too was in the dark, but she has been shown the truth and still doesnt change things, tell the truth. She has not replied once, nore have I heard back from my email, which is why I have gone to the ASA. I went directly to the sorce, and they chose to ignore me. In a way I feel like Im being a bitch, for all that I am doing, but I cant just sit back and let them get away with it, giving Amber a bad name - those of us who post on Kitten or essence get to hear the truth, but not everyone does, so to some out there it may look like Amber is at fault and that is not the case.

I would never have been able to afford to go, but it still kinda bums me out that Amber had to cancel. I don't blame her one bit for it. Good for her. I wish these companies would think before posting crap.

Maybe Amber will do more conventions now that this won't happen. We can all hope.

See this is why I dont like what Jealous events did, as Amber never confirmed that she was doing it therefore, didnt cancel, it should have NEVER been advertised until Amber had confirmed. Jealous Events were advertising something that they were hoping would happen, that was in discusions, but not finalised, confirmed.

Jealous events have finally admitted the truth, I do have to wonder if it has anything to do with the fact I emailed the ASA, and that I also, told Scully in a PM, and emailed them saying that I had, so they had no choice. Plus Im sure that I am not the only Amber fan who has contacted them.

Quote:
Dear Customers,

Thank you for your custom for our up coming events and your interest in future events.

As you know, we have been trying to limit ‘hearsay’ and ‘speculation’ discussion on a tour until we ourselves are informed of further information that we can accurately provide. However, further to information released by Amber’s management we are happy to confirm the same information. While our main website undergoes new designs etc, we thought it prudent to provided this information on the message board in the meantime.

While a tour had been only tentatively discussed and the tour logistics tentatively held no agreement was finalised, which is why ticket sales where not opened and no further information was available i.e., cost, venues, dates, event schedule, official tour message board forum etc. A decision was made to tentatively display the intended tour to gage the interest level while the Jealous Events TV adverts were aired. This would give Jealous Events an understanding to demand and financial viability in producing a tour at relatively short notice. Please accept our sincere apologise, as any announcement may have been premature to the point where fans may be disappointed if the tour was not to have taken place. Indeed we can confirm that there will be no tour for Amber at this time.

In addition, Amber’s management has informed us that Amber is currently awaiting information on ‘possible’ TV filming due to begin early August 2003. Those ‘possible’ work commitments may prevent Amber from attending the David Boreanaz European Event due to the conflict of filming. Guests always attend an event subject to work commitments and I’m sure we all will all keep our fingers crossed for Amber’s possible filming and equally for attending the David Boreanaz Event.

We have no more information at this time and will post an update as soon as Amber’s management is in a position to provide an update. If required, we will use our best endeavours to find a replacement Cast Member should it be necessary.

Jealous Events make great effort to regularly fly out to LA and sign up great guests like Amber to attend our events arranged for you our valued customers, as you can see Jealous Events are always working hard to provide you with new guests at new and different events, sometimes rare problematic issues or ‘work commitment’ issues may prevent a guest appearance. As such, we thank you for your understanding and look forward to updating you as soon as we hear some further news from Amber’s management.

All other events remain unchanged and are scheduled as advertised.

Assuring you of our good intentions at all times and working hard to provide you with great leading TV and Film Events.

Healthy regards,

Jealous Events

Assuring you of our good intentions at all times -thats why it took them over a week to tell the truth.

However I do take exception to this line in their answer

I've just double checked the page and there is nothing to suggest that it is just a tentative display to gauge interest levels. In fact there is no way you could read it and not come to the conclusion that the tour was a done deal.

The fact that the page is still available from their servers is the best indication of how much they care about keeping people informed. At the very least they should have deleted the page, or better yet they could have replaced it with one that details what they just sent you.

God, I hate to say 'I told you so', but coming hot on the heels of the MR debacle , this convention looked just too good to be true.

I'm sad that I'll be missing out on Amber goodness, yet again but also happy that I had not invested any hopes in getting to see her until I was actually at the venue, with Amber coming on-stage.

The moral is Kittens...don't get up your hopes until it is actually happening before your eyes

What makes me even sadder is that Amber is probably upset about letting her fans down, even though nothing was arranged.

Never mind, there will always be tomorrow, and a Chance Ddvd to look forward to.

Phew! this is a very tangled web and where would we all be without Christopher Golden ?:bow

This is a major bummer for European people especially those who have purchased tickets (I came pretty close) for the Brighton con, booked flights and hotels etc...I really have my fingers crossed for them.:pray The Tour event was never confirmed or anything.... it did look like a brilliant idea on paper....maybe one day. But what I do find a bit weird is that Jel Events got away with having this info up on their site for such a long time...like six-eight weeks or something ....pretty annoying. :angry

They got away with it because anytime someone posted anything or attempted to bring to light that what they had up was even question. The people were banned and the information deleted.

They are doing what they are doing to save their collective...

it's called Back Pedaling. A graduate course I'm sure at Scammig University.

I do hope, however, that a tour of some description can be organised. There is some talk of doing it on the Essence of Amber board. I'm all for it, so let's see how much momentum it gets.

T Maclay - Thanks for posting that, although it wasn't really what we wanted to hear. I'm very disappointed but glad Amber's working and hoping to come to Europe again soon (ish) even if it is for a sing a long at Big Ben! However, I guess I wish I'd have waited a bit longer before ordering from Jealous Events, they had obviously not confirmed anything, and I know things can change at the last minute, but it's difficult to judge especially when the temptation to buy tickets is strong :(
