I'm gonna go with two golden oldies from the UK:

Cracker: The original and best, accept no substitutes. As much as I would like to see the US ep with Amber in it, Robert Pastorelli couldn't hold a candle to Robbie Coltrane's blazing performance as Fitz.

Sharpe: Great fun series and if anyone catches the last 2 or 3 they even have Alexis Denisof in them.

Oh, space: above and beyond - I loved that show. The last eps were so sad. And My so-called life, Claire is one of my fave actresses, I love my DVDs..

And i definitely miss Quantum Leap, I watched that with my Dad when I was younger. I would also add the X-files, although I think it had it's run.

Shows I miss...

The Pretender - That was my absolute favorite thing to watch the whole time it was on television. I'm ticked that I never got to see the 2nd TV movie...I don't even know if it aired.

Profiler - I still liked it when Jamie Luner took over for Ally Walker...but it just wasn't the same.

Popular - Nothing cracked me up more than Nicole and Mary Cherry.

Freaks & Geeks - Wonderful writing, wonderful cast.

Jack & Jill - The second season sucked, but I was hoping for one more chance that they could salvage and rebuild it into what it was the first year.

Savannah - I don't know what it was about that show, but I think it was the first WB show I liked. I think it was because I remembered watching the actress who played the rich daughter (Shannon Sturges) on Days of Our Lives.

Daria - I love sarcastic humor, and this show was the greatest at it. Still waiting for it to come out on DVD but because of the music rights, it may take a long time to clear.

Also...Relativity and Birds of Prey.

Ooh...and just for fun, I miss Rock & Roll Jeopardy...only because I could answer all of the questions. Heh.

The House of Eliott

Postby Cicca » Tue Mar 09, 2004 1:26 am

Well, here's an old that may not have seen by many people. The House of Eliott. I was just addicted to it!

I remembered it tonight because I saw Hidalgo and finally clued in during the credits that the gorgeous blonde woman was Louise Lombard. Little Evie! She was gorgeous than and she's really gorgeous now. Wow.

Anyway, The House of Eliott was a lot of fun. And ooh the clothes!

Is there a hyphen in anal-retentive?

Why oh why!

Postby KiwiAlcyone » Tue Mar 09, 2004 7:38 am

heya kittens, I think most of these have already been mentioned but it was such a crime to cancel great shows that they deserve a re-mention,

Space Above and Beyond: How much did this show rock!? Spaceships, sexy stars and heaps of drama and action...I need re-runs!

Dark Angel: I've heard a lot of reasons as too why it was cancelled. Not popular enough, too expensive to make...but whatever it was, I loved it. Jessica Alba was perfectly cast and as an action star, she looked the part...unlike a certain blond who shall remain nameless.

xena: The last season was definitely the best out of all six, there was plenty of life in it dammit and I'm sure Lucy and Renee would have been happy to don short skirts for another couple of seasons.

While I agree w/ your assessment of XWP Season 6, Alcy, I'm not convinced of your final point. I think one of the reasons S6 turned out so well, was that everyone was relaxed and "letting it all hang out" because they knew it was the final season.

GG But can we please have an XWP movie now? Pretty (Lucy and Renee pretty! :drool ) please? :pray Out

I miss all the shows that I watched when I was a kid: Are You Afraid Of The Dark, Clarissa, The Secret World Of Alex Mack, Pete and Pete.

I loved Quantum Leap, I was young and didnt understand it a lot when I watched it but I thought it was really interesting.

I never did watch Daria but now it has re-runs on The-N, even though its edited, its kick ass. I want it to come out on DVD. It has really awesome music.

Probe and Something Is Out There

Postby shivermetimbers » Tue Mar 09, 2004 9:42 pm

Does anyone remember these fine pieces of early 80s American Sci-Fi? Probe was like an early XFiles and Something Is Out There had the lushous Maryam D'Abo as a psychic alien that helped out the cops. It started as a killer miniseries and degraded into weekly programing, but still large with the cool.

I miss Birds Of Prey so much! It had so much potential, and it seemed like it was only in the final couple of episodes they aired that all the elements were starting to fall into place for them.

I'll always miss having new episodes of Xena to look forward to... here's hoping either Lucy or Renee does smething good again soon, because I haven't seen anyone here say they miss Tarzan since it was axed...

Other shows cancelled ridiculously early (most have already been mentioned) - Freaks and Geeks, Popular, Gross Pointe (I guess the WB just couldn't take sending themselves up)...

And I wish they'd kept making La Femme Nikita, just because I missed Peta Wilson so much when it stopped airing. (Yay for DVD box sets! Bring on season 2 :) )

Well, as is evident from my name and picture thing...I am deeply affected by La Femme Nikita's demise. That show was pretty much my life for five years (I don't really have a life). I have every episode on tape (and almost every movie involving any of the cast members) and the first season on DVD, and hopefully they will release the rest so I can get my fill. *Sigh* I'm not sure any show will compare to that.

I was also obsessed with Xena (and still am). That was such a great show...I'm hoping for movies, too.

I also loved short-lived shows such as The Net and the ever-wonderful My So-Called Life.

I hate it when shows are cancelled...I wish they'd just let shows run forever. I suppose my logical side tells me why that isn't so, but...it's so distressing when they're cancelled.

Well, Xita mentioned my favorite show, as you can tell by the name and avatar! :D

Dark Shadows was my first exposure to Vampires and the supernatural, as camp and as cheesy as it was! *LOL*

I also thought The Ghost and Mrs Muir was a cute show.

So many good shows, so many lost to time.

I miss Night Stalker (Kolchak was one of my faves), Dark Angel, Babylon 5, DS9, Maverick, Matt Houston, Tales of the Golden Monkey, Dynasty (who can forget that show??), St. Elsewhere, Murphy Brown, Xena: Warrior Princess, Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, Bristow County Jr (Bruce Campbell at some of his funniest), Sliders, (trying to think of that show where the man becomes part of the car and can transform at will from car to motorcycle), Manimal (for some odd reason I liked that show), American Embassy (I was really getting into that show before Fox yanked it for some other shite), China Beach, Moonlighting, Millenium..just to name a few. I could probably go on or days about some of the shows I miss. :cry

Because I'be been on a kick lately...I really really miss Once and Again! I never even got to watch it while it was still on the air, cause I suck and come late into everything! :rage

But I do love the eps I've dl'd, and I miss it nonetheless.

Shows I miss and hope one or two of them will be revived sometime in the future:

Babylon 5
Blake's 7 - there has already been at least one serious attempt to bring it back
The X-Files - the last two or three seasons were not so good but I was still enjoying it
Farscape
Xena - movie please!
Dead Like Me

And good shows that went bad (IMHO) but I really enjoyed the early seasons:

The West Wing
Millenium
Joan of Arcadia
Alias
Live in my house. I'll be your shelter. Just pay me back with one thousand kisses.

Shows I miss:

Third Watch
Profiler
Early Edition
Dr Quinn
The Practice
Cheers
Picket Fences (I never miss an episode of that)
The Waltons
(ok, so sue me on that one)

Shows that I've lost interest in:
Law & Order (I really haven't watch since Jerry Orbach left then died cause I can't stand Dennis Farina)
The West Wing (ok, he can only hold office for 8 years so how far could it really go)
ER (its just starting to get on my last nerve but I still watch it)

Picket Fences (I never miss an episode of that)

Right there with ya, oneyedchicklet. Picket Fences is my second favorite show of all time. It was the first time a show was ever "appointment television" for me. If I wasn't home, I had to tape it. I'm very impatiently awaiting the release of the DVDs. That is, if they even plan on releasing DVDs. I sure hope so.

And a show that had only one season, but I thought had lots of potential was Now and Again. A great cast, good writing, humor, heart. I was very disappointed when CBS cancelled it. Another one that they need to release on DVD.

Moonlighting (when it was still good)
Quantum Leapand a little weird show on an alternate network that no one has ever heard of called Flying Blind - it starred Tea Leoni as this really weird formerly rich girl who'd had all these bizarre experiences and yet didn't know any normal stuff (I remember her being very upset the first time she saw Casper the Friendly Ghost "Oh my God, that's so sad...he's so small...how old was he when he died?" LOL) and a sort of Woody Allen nebbishy guy who was her romantic foil...she also had really bizarre roomates...some very sharp intelligent humor so of course it didn't last more than a season
Also I miss AbFab a lot and The Vicar of Dibley which they show now and then on PBS but not weekly like they used to

I still miss Frank's Place, the brilliant show that was well acted by a fabulous cast, well written, and well produced.

Why did CBS take it off the air? Because it was waaaaaayyyyyy too smart for the average drooling spastic knuckle-walking doofusses (or is it doofi?) that the network was trying to cultivate at the time to get higher ratings. :happy :mad

Frank's Place was GREAT!!!

I loved it when Shorty would talk, in English, but they would show sub-titles. Cracked me up every time.

I also really enjoyed Hot L Baltimore, though I don't remember if it lasted even a full season.

The first couple seasons of Northern Exposure were also really good.

To whomever mentioned The House of Elliot (sp?) I must agree...great show

And I thought of one as I was lying in bed unable to sleep at 3:30 this morning...can't believe I forgot such a great show...duh!
The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd
First time I ever saw Gina Gershon...she was in Molly's ex-husband Fred's band...and was way sexy...but not as sexy as Blair Brown...whatever happened to her?
