Dead Like Me

I like this show a lot. I think the cast is amazing and I really hope they keep the series running.

There is only one more ep left for this season but they keep running ads for that contest, so I'm hoping that means it's coming back.

I like George and Roxy and all the rest of the reapers. Even Daisy is starting to grow on me. Mason is always good for a laugh.

George's family is so messed up and interesting.

So, yeah, that's about it for now.

I LOVE this show!

There's nothing I don't love about this show, well there's Daisy but who knows, they writers may get me to like her...eventually.

George is too cute, Rube is great, Roxy is one tough chick, Mason is funny as hell :lol and George's family is totally messed up, what's not to love?

And I also love the gravelings, they rock. And in tonights ep, they were funny too (as was Rube's reaction) :rollin

This is my favorite show right now. It's a brilliant idea for a series! Ever since the first episode o've been hooked.

I can't belive no on has mentioned Delores Herbig?

< as in HerBIg brown eyes> ::: cracks up :::

Aside from George and Rube, she is definatly one of the funniest characters.

I'm not a big fan of Mason or Daisy so much, however I laughed for the entire episode when Mason stuck the drugs up his butt in a condom and it broke, sending all of it into his system. His expressions were priceless.

I am dissapointed this season is almost over, but I read that Showtime is almost postive it will return next season.

Yay! :applause

I love this show. I hafta work when it comes on Friday but it comes on again at midnight here and I'm usually home to watch it. I missed it last night though. It comes on again Sunday right? I got my brother into watching it. It's the best show.

I think Mason is hilarious. He's cute too. George is really cute. Rube reminds me so much of my moms boyfriend.

I miss Betty. :cry

I hated Daisy at first, but in the last couple eps, she's started to grow on me. It was so sad when Mason entered her last thought and it was "Why has no one ever loved me?" I got weepy and felt sympathy for her. I hate it when shows make me like characters I'm trying really hard to hate. :lol

Yes, this might be my new favorite show. Since I've only seen three or four eps (it just started here) I'll have to hold back a bit just in case it goes wonky later, but so far it's great. Loved the first ep best, but all of them were exceptionaly good, well written, well acted and beautifully shot.

I wonder if we're ever going to find out what happened to Rebecca Gayheart's character?

BTW, am I the only one that really likes the opening "salsa"-like theme music over the montage of the "Reapers' Routine"? :)

Well tonight was the season finale :(

But the good news is that it will be back next year (no big surprise there ;)

As always, tonight's ep was great, funny and touching.

George keeping an eye on the little kid reaper thinking that he was going to get Delores' cat was funny. As was Delores shocking that bike courier :lol

Watching Mason try to score was hilarious and when he did get a girl, DAMN, she was hot!

I'm sad this great show is done for this year but very happy it's coming back. I don't remember ever being so into a new show like this before. It's going to be a long wait for the next season ;)

Damn, I kept forgetting to post in here.

I really liked the season finale. I thought the shots of the headstone being made were interesting. Clancy is being such a dick. I'm glad to see Reggie and Joy trying to get through it together and maybe developing a closer relationship.

George was being a real friend to Delores and I'm glad she'll be going back to Happy Time.

I don't hate Daisy anymore but I wish they'd give her a little more depth. I want to know how Rube died, I think he's the only one we didn't get any info for. Roxy is awesome as always. I guess it does make sense that gravelings would live in the cemetery.

I liked all the reapers getting together at George's graveside.

I'm very happy this is coming back for a second season. :happy

lol, yay.

I finally got to see the pilot episode. I don't have Showtime and must therefore wait for tapes from my friend in Humboldt County (she doesn't have HBO and gets tapes of The Wire from me).

The show isn't as polished as, say, Carnivale, and that rankles me a bit, but it looks fun enough to check out the rest of the tapes I've gotten. Plus I like Ellen Muth, the actress who plays George. Does anyone else remember her from The Truth About Jane of a couple years ago??? :grin

The Truth About Jane is a good movie, she was one of the main reasons the promos caught my attention. This cast is seriously wonderful.

Showtime is doing a mini marathon thing tonight,

I can't wait til the new season starts.

I read on Deadlikemeonline.net that Showtime will be rerunning the whole season 1 of Dead Like Me starting January 2, 2004.

The new season will also start filming in January but will still start in the summer.

Also the DVD of the first season is scheduled to be released on May 4th 2004.

Anyone watch the season two opener?

Fun and touching episode. Hilarious take off on Hill Street Blues. This show has great characters and insight into them. This was a very good start to the season and makes the wait worth it.

The new eps will air on Mondays in Canada, I wish they would air on Sundays, but it's better to wait a day then not get it at all.

The season two opener was great, I loved it. About the only thing I didn't like was the thing with George and the gay haired guy, that was lame. The rest was great.

Mason's balloon animal 'rabbit' was hilarious :lol

The death scene for the old lady in the wheelchair was a good one.

I’m very glad that the show's back, I missed it a lot.

I also saw it last night here in Canada, and thought it was one of the best written ep's. I like the way they handled the breakup of George's parents, which I should have seen coming but hadn't. Good to see George "growing up" a bit, if that's possible after you're dead. And the Hill Street moment was hilarious.

ah, season 2. I love this show, but I think the quality has gone down a little bit. Nothing I can fully articulate, just how I feel watching some of the episodes. Like, more of them are being made as one-shot deals and don't have a lot to tie them in to any bigger arcs.

I love Daisy. Religion on TV, in general, tends to annoy me, but I'm really enjoying how they are laying it out in Daisy's story line.

Still love George. Very creepy how her putting off the decision had such major consequences.

Agreed that overall the show this season isn't matching the heights of the first season. But the characters are becoming more fully realized as it goes on, and there are always little touches that get to me- loved the babysitter's transformation in this last one for example, I really wasn't expecting that. Reggie is becoming more interesting by the week, all of the reapers are developing beyond their original quirks and George still rules.

I’m loving season 2 so far. Not as good as the first season, but still easily a lot better than most of what’s on TV.

Some characters have grown on me a lot. Daisy, who I hated last season, is great this year. Although the religion storyline they are doing with her is really annoying me and I hope it gets wrapped up soon. And Dolores is a hoot :laugh

The rest of the cast are great, as always. Love George. Reggie and Joy are getting better. I just love it when Joy tells someone to fuck off, she'd get along great with Roxy :lol

I loved the end of the last episode with Rube. I want more background info on him, He’s the only one of the reapers that we don't know how he died.

And of course, the funniest thing about show, poor Mason. He cracks me up so much. Watching him on that bike he stole was so damn funny :lmao and my favorite line this year, from Mason: "I'm so smart, I'm practically retarded" :lmao

I love this show too and I'm overall pretty happy with the way it is progressing. George is great and I like that we're seeing more of Joy & Reggie. The Happy Time bits have to be my favorite part. I can't wait to hear what will come out of Dolores mouth. My funniest moment so far was Dolores going through her phone messages. You hear a cat meow and Dolores says Murray (her cat) has learned to use speed dial. This show remains highly clever and one of the best things on TV.

This show still has some of the most sparkling dialogue on TV: I particularly enjoyed George's voiceover in which she said "It turns out that life is something like a game of 'duck, duck, goose', except with life it's 'duck, duck, duck, dead.":lol

Regarding Rube, I have a strong suspicion that he has a very tragic back-story.:(

I'm still wondering if we will ever see Rebecca Gayheart again--or at least learn what happened to her.:confused

Re: Season 2

Postby Hemiola » Tue Oct 12, 2004 1:55 pm

I would like to offer my own little bit o' speculation about the end of last Sunday's installment:

I'm sure that everyone was surprised to see the graveling crawl out of the body of Daisy's evil suitor (played by Eric McCormack). It seems to me that since the function of the gravelings as established during the first season is to set up the circumstances that will cause peoples' deaths, it is most likely that it is being suggested that perhaps people are induced to behave in an evil manner by an "interior" graveling in order to bring about the circumstances necessary for a violent death.

Agree? Disagree? Like Linda Richman says: discuss!:)

Re: Season 2

Postby seurat » Tue Oct 12, 2004 4:08 pm

My first reaction to the appearance of the graveling was that this is how they are created, by a murder, or perhaps only the murder of a venemous lowlife like that guy.

I have my own guestion though. Weren't the reapers supposed to not look like themselves anymore? Isn't George supposed to look like some older less attractive (by far) woman as shown back in season one? So why are people hitting on George now as if she looked like herself again. Which she can't of course, since Dolores and others would recognize her. Diasy also either looks like herself now or some other dazzling beauty, since she's also getting constant attention from well, everyone. Did I miss something? Are they just too cheap to show the way other people see them? What gives? Inquiring minds and all that...

By the way, other than that issue, the show has been quite good this season.

ETA- Thanks Bob! Nice of them to let their viewers know what'd going on...

Re: Season 2

Postby BBOvenGuy » Thu Oct 14, 2004 1:57 pm

I remember seeing an interview at the beginning of summer (which I can't seem to find online now... :happy ) where the Executive Producer said the whole business of having the reapers look like other people was too confusing and distracting to the audience, so they ditched it. I think they may have kept a provision where the reapers look different to people who knew them when they were alive, but I'm not sure.

"The stories we tell - that's us explaining how we think the world works. Once we speak it, once we say it aloud, that makes it real for us - and real for everyone else who hears it too. When we tell a story, we invite people to visit our reality. We invite them to move in. Our stories are the reality we live in." - David Gerrold, The Martian Child

Goodbye fella--you were a nice pooch.

Also, regarding the appearances of the reapers to the living--if in fact the producers have dropped the notion of the reapers looking to different from their original "live" selves, this may pose a problem if George runs into her mom at Happy Time! In fact, she just barely missed running into her father and sister at the Waffle House!!:shock
