Neighbours has been around for years and finally have decided to come into the 21st century.



The new girl on Ramsey Street is about to come out!



"Little, it seems, will be left to the audience's imagination regarding the character's sexual orientation, with a storyline seeing Lana kiss Sky Mangel, played by Stephanie McIntosh."

So far the storyline is pretty cool and realistic, delving into the problems she faced when people found out at her old school.



This is what the Sydney Star Observer (GLBT paper) has to say: "Anyway, here’s cheers to Neighbours, and we will all welcome its first dyke with open arms. Hopefully, she won’t go too bonkers too quickly."

Oh I used to follow that show every day back in the days when Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue were the lahv couple. I remember that shy Jane girl who turned into a stunner. I stopped watching when they killed Kerry (the daughter of that concervative fat guy that used to be married to Madge, Charlene´s i.e. Kylie´s mother). Kerry was very pregnant when she got shot to death during a protest against hunting. I was so disgusted with that particular over the top bit of drama that I stopped watching. I understand that actors leave soap operas all the time, but it would be nice if they could do so without getting killed all the time. Of course there are always the dead ones that come back with amnesia, but they are usually the ones I did not like in the first place.



Anyway, I am remembering way too much of this show. I could have used that brain space for more useful things.



This is cool news though, at least it could be if she does not go bananas and gets kidnappend by aliens who kill her and then bring her back as her straight and much happier twin. I am cynical, blame it on AMC.

I wonder how the BBC will handle this? They've always been a bit skittish when Neighbours strays into anything remotely realistic.

Honestly no idea, I've long since lost touch with what's going on in the show but it used to be a few months behind on the BBC. I know that Home and Away on Five is just about six months out of sync.

I heard about this storyline too, and Im wondering how the Beeb will handle it. I know its not the coolest thing to admit to, but I love neighbours! and i cant wait to see Sky Mangel get kissed I think its about time we had a storyline like this, but its not like neighbours has always been prudish- Susans just slept with the priest (Tom), breaking his vow of chastity! I mean...not exactly an everyday kinda storyline is it?

I'm going to be mightily annoyed with the BBC if they do anything other than show the episode as it was originally aired in Australia.



ITV used to show Emmerdale at 5.10pm in Scotland and not one of Zoe's kisses with her various girlfriends were ever cut.



The BBC do have a tendency to freak about having gay storylines in show's though. Do you remember all the fuss years ago about having a gay kiss on Byker Grove that turned out to be a peck on the cheek?

But you must remember that the BBC has unlimited capacity to cock up imported shows, I suspect they'll skip over the kiss itself when that episode airs.

OMG! Why didn't they pull this one when Flick was in it? Man. But... dude... I've watched this show since I was a baby. It started, like... a month or so before or after I was born, and it was the only thing that'd stop me crying. Awh. *giggles* BUT, woohoo! I kinda thought they were gonna do this storyline with Michelle yonks back... or... I think that was a fanfic or something that I randomly stumbled upon. But, yeah... Sky works... hmmm... *ponder*

Well the BBC didn't appear to make any cuts, The kiss was in the lunchtime edition, ending with a bemused looking Sky. Read some further spoilers and this could get interesting.

Im actually really enjoying the storyline at the moment, Im pleasantly surprised that it doesnt seem to have been cut and well...sky and lana are cute together!

Apart from the cuteness of them, I like the way theyre showing Lanas side of things, and the scriptwriters have been fairly witty with some of her dialogue. I hope this storyline has the chance to develop, though I know next week is the last week before the xmas break! Nooooooooo! I know, Im so sad....

Also interesting to note that Lana admitted to having a crush on Buffy, though Sky went down in my estimation by admitting to liking Spike.

Hehe I loved that part about having a crush on Buffy too, but yeah, the spike part wasnt so good. i think my fave moment between the 2 has to be when Lana was kidding around with Sky, saying she had nothing to worry about, and she just says something like 'dont worry theres a hot chick in biology ive got my eye on!' i just thought they got that hormonal-teenager-crush thing smack on the head then, in an honest and blunt way which was quite refreshing.

Don't worry you're not the onyl one here.

Thought the characters caught a good range of reactions. Harold, Syndi, Susan and Libby reacted well. Boyd was a jerk but struck me as being more worried about someone trying to steal his girlfriend than homophobic. Somebody should just drown Stingray, and as for Serena, well she'll get her come uppance shortly...

Saw Friday's episode and was glad to see Sky rescue Lana at the last minute but if that girl isn't gay she was giving one heck of an impersonation...

Well it appears that Lana has a potential girlfriend, really can't believe she's called 'Buffy', and Sky looked less than thrilled about it...

Really wished Libby had just decked that odious woman in the coffee shop.

Have to go along with Lana at the end of Friday's ep, Sky is into her and just can't admit it to herself, the way she sabotaged Lana's date with Buffy earlier in the week was no accident...

In case anyone missed it Sky kissed Lana on today's episode!



What amused me most about the whole thing was that they very quietly dug up the approach to a hotel and planted lots of, well, plants there. Then they fell asleep at the scene of the crime! Master criminals in the making.



Whilst caught up in the excitement of their triumph Sky kissed Lana. Lana looked extremely pleased with this new development. Unfortunately Lana had revealed earlier in the episode that her Dad's taking a job in Canada so they're moving back there. Ah well, it was a nice storyline while it lasted and I thought it was well handled by the writers and actors. Well done neighbours.
