As they say, any press is good press when it comes to championing our fair Amber and the ever resourceful and talented Xita.

What another great fundraising project too, by the way.

Well done to all involved.

Congrats Xita!! :clap

I hadn't flipped through my copy when it came the other day, and then I saw this thread. I immediately ran out to the dining room and flipped through until I found the pic with you and Amber.:)

It's a great article and you certainly didn't misrepresent the board in any way! :clap

I wish I had a clue when it comes to scanning and posting. I'd put it up for ya!

HERE IS THE TRANSCRIPT - sorry I have no scanner so cant show the pic.

FAN PHILANTHROPY

A Buffy fan site reaches out to a gay youth charity

If internet fan sites are like social clubs, then The Kitten, the Witches and the Bad Wardrobe, a website for fans of lesbian witches Tara and Willow from the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is the closest thing Internet fandom has to a gay-straight alliance. The ADVOCATE spoke to Xita, spokesperson and co-founder of the site, about it’s expansion from fan site to forum for gay and questioning teens to nascent advocate for gay causes. Since August 1st , members have raised more than $8000 for the Trevor Project, a non profit organization that runs the nations only 24-hour suicide prevention hotline for gay youth.

What prompted your campaign for the Trevor Project?

It all started with the death of Tara on the show last season. Rather than express our anger and dismay by buying billboard ads, like some other groups have done to support their favorite characters, we decided a better use of out money would be to make a statement by contributing to something that helps the kind of fans whom Tara was important to: gay and questioning youth.

What is the site membership like?

We have about 2000 members, 700 being active – a wide variety of people but predominantly lesbians and bisexual women.

Are you planning to continue gay advocacy work?

We’re planning a Web site to monitor the treatment of lesbians on television. We think an advocacy group for lesbians is needed because other groups seem to us more centered on gay men.

Thanks for the transcript marcenik.

This is good, very good, but I have to say there is one part I really hate..."A Buffy fan site...", that is SO not the case :mad

You are most welcome.....I hated that part too because this is so very much NOT a Buffy site....I was gonna leave that line out...but then it wouldnt have been a transcript. I sent a comment on that particular line to the Advocate, maybe they will print a Correction in the next issue. One can only hope!!

What no mention of chanting for a David E. Kelly-esque down fall for Josh in the article? I'm shocked ;)

Well, congrats to the article and everyone that has made a donation to the Foundation. You really have me interested in the website tracking portrayls of lesbians on TV.

Oh that is wonderful. It's brief but to the point. Publicity for the Trevor project and it honors WT. I am not to bothered by the heading. They explain who this board is for quite clearly.

Thanks for the transcript. :)
