Re: Sol Campbell's red card

Postby samiamiguess » Thu Apr 17, 2003 5:16 pm

Well I for one thought it was a fantastic match. I know it wasn't perhaps the most spectacular of football at times but personally I thought two of the 4 goals were crackers. The other two were a lucky deflection and an offside.

As for Giggs, I shall now be ever grateful for saving me from a torrent of abuse.

Just also wanted to say congratulations to any Pompey fans.

Yes I am coming out as another bubble blower on the board, I hope you'll all be supportive...

With the amount of talent we have in the team we should NOT be in this position. Someone needs to give some players a major kick up the arse. So now we are 6 points behind the nearest team, they're all playing well and we are playing like a bunch of idiots.

I feel broken, all broke open, you be careful what you do

Support in this thread? I'll try.

Unfortunately the hammers have no one to blame but themselves for the position they are in, most of games I have seen them play, they have missed chances and thrown away good oppurtunities. They just don't seem to be playing like a team in their position should be. It pains me to say this, but one team who are putting up a really good relegation fight are Stoke City.

I think we don't seem to be playing as a team at all. I know Paolo had been putting in some poor performances but at least he had passion, now they all just seem to be thinking about what club they're going to be playing for next season. I think some of them are going to be in for a shock when no one comes in for them and they're stuck at Upton Park in the 1st Division. This is obviously assuming that there no great miracle happens in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you. Its good to see credit where its due, and I have to say regardless of how things go I'm proud of the boys as they really have shown that they care about what happens to the club and made a real fist of it.

So things look as though they will go all the way in the Premiership, makes it rather exciting. I dont care what happens, as long as United win. As for West Ham, afraid I have to agree, they just haven't done as well as others in their position that have, on paper much weaker squads.

So on the bright side, Woking didn't lose today, 0-0 meant we drew our eighth game in succession.

On the realistic side, we're second from bottom and have 2 games left to play. And we're rubbish, so by this time next week we'll be relegated :cry

10 games since we've lost 10 bloody games...and we need just one more. So any Palace fans out there, next weekend I may have to bribe you for the point we need. Go on, I'll buy you a beer. Any Brighton fans I'm afraid its probably best not to talk to me until the season curtains close. Just in case.

Oh, and I just heard about Glen Roeder being taken into hospital which certainly puts the season into a little more context. I wish him well.

I know they say that people who live in igloos shouldn’t use hairdryers,

but I still can’t stop chuckling at Man Utd’s exit from the Champion’s League, I’ll admit I did feel sorry for them for the time it takes a gnat to breath in and out but that’s it. :lol

In all fairness they did play well (apparently I missed the game and only saw highlights) but Real were just a bit too much for them. Maybe if Mr Ferguson wasn’t always such a wanker I might like Man Utd a little more.

temporary Sunderland fan

Postby samiamiguess » Thu Apr 24, 2003 6:57 pm

Ok, now there is a very good chance that I may be at the Sunderland, Arsenal match at the end of the season. So I shall, for the first time in my life be supporting Sunderland…and if they should happen to win then I will be doing a very good impression of a Morris Dancer frolicking in the month of May.

Come on lads, you know you want to do United a favour. But I fear they may have a gnats chance against the Gunners but I can live in hope. Otherwise I’ll be sitting next to a very smug Arsenal fan…crap.

At least they play in red and white stripes so maybe if I squint a little I could be thinking it was Stoke.

Big day tomorrow

Postby Nix42 » Fri Apr 25, 2003 4:26 pm

So by 1700 tomorrow I will know Woking's fate as its the last day of the conference season

We're 2nd bottom, and have to win. Even then we're relying on 2 other teams losing - so I'll be at the game, but listening to local radio for the other results. I suspect I may be getting a wee bit stressed.

Wish us luck!

On a side note, I can't believe the FA upheld Sol's red card, the bastards. Oh crap.

Unaware but underlined I figured out the story

And in the corner of a mind I celebrated glory
But it wasn't to be In the twist of separation you excelled at being free
Can't you find a little room inside for me Whatever I said, whatever I did I didn't mean it
I just want you back for good

And therein lies the reason I'll be working until 6pm tonight instead of sodding off at midday as normal.

I'll be on the flipside of that equation, sat at Manor Park watching Nuneaton Borough trying to dig themselves out of a hole and taking the goal flashes of the other games by phone.

Come on Woking - it'll make my copy so much more interesting if I'm writing about relegation :)

I think this post's mostly filler

A good result

Postby Lost in blue » Sat Apr 26, 2003 10:47 am

I just got my footy result in on my phone, my team (Liverpool- yes I'm aware that I live in London) won 6-0- whoo hoo!!! I feel bad for West Brom tho coz I like them but still it's not been the best season for Liverpool considering the great start we had so it's nice to see us winning especially winning so well :) Good luck to everyone's teams for the last few games of the season. And on my Dad's behalf a big whoo and may I had a hoo coz Portsmouth are going up, altho my Dad isn't really looking forward to losing every game next season (his words not mine!)

YEEESSSSS!!!!!

We're staying up after a fine 3 nil victory - and I took part in my 1st ever pitch invasion :grin

And the delicious irony of the day was that it was victories by Farnborough (our local rivals) over Nuneaton, and Stevenage (our most fierce rivals .. think Arsenal - Man Utd levels of hatred), that we're staying up.

Thanks for the support Zoe .. what happened - the Arse were 2 up when I left for our game?

and Em, let me tell you never has a F'boro victory been so well received at Kingfield.. haven't a clue how Villa got on the rest of the days results have kind of passed me by.

I've had a few drinkies so forgive me if none of this makes sense

Re: Big day tomorrow

Postby Zippy » Sun Apr 27, 2003 3:59 am

In all my footballing life I never thought I would be hoping Spurs would win a match, but today I am praying that they do, this is it, last chance saloon.

What happened in the Bolton Game? Keown's stupid fucking head is what happen. Along with a general 'we are not going down without a fight' from Bolton, they better bloody stay up now and sorry if I piss off the hammers fans, they better bloody go down but they sure as hell don't deserve to stay up. Can you tell the bitterness is setting in?

On a happier note, I am gald Woking stayed up, after a 3 nil victory it would have been cruel if they still went down, I felt so sorry for WBA when it happen to them.

Anyway where is the Stoke Fan? Maybe she is still crying into her bottle of wine. They only need 1 point against Reading love, you be fine, as long as you don't lose and Brighton don't win. Because that is one hell of a better goal difference Brighton have.

As always, if in doubt and bitter, kick the Stoke Fan while she is down.

*Trudges into the footy thread, hands in pockets kicking the ground, scuffing the dirt*

I'm here, I'm here. Crying has stopped long enough for me to be provide a more composed response. (It still won't make any sense mind, this is me posting after all)

So ok, it really was a shite result. We lost in the last 10 minutes to Palace and with Brighton winning we're really in the mire. And yes Zoe love, only one point but I really cant see it happening. Reading are one of our bogey teams. I've stopped watching Stoke play there even though its close to me since whenever I do I manage to jinx them, and Brighton have Grimsby who are already down. I've even got my bird cheering for us bless her.

Next Saturday I fear I may have to stock up on some supplies. 24 pack of Stella, wine and Bombay Saphire should just about cover my mood. Gosh I've been through all this before and it never gets easier.

Anyway onto brighter things...a big well done to Woking...really pleased for you. A 3-0 win is fabulous and the fact things went your way is great. Now for today's game I'm not so sure Spurs is a forgone conclusion, we shall see.

And thanks for the kicking when I'm down, anyone else feel free...I'm a Stoke fan, I'm hard. Apparently. Well I'm not but you know, its an image. ;)
