girlofp - Actually, yes, I drive there often to go the the "malls". hee hee... Know where Summit Hill is? By Lansford?...Or close to better known Tamaqua? Who decided where one town ends and another begins? Why not just give the group of housing and commercial sites one name. I so need to move back to ABQ or to Cali where everything is much less confusing. Not to mention, that's where cool things happen.

Born in Philadelphia, lived there for 8 years, then lived in Kansas City for 5 years. Have been living in Virginia ever since. I live in Manassas Virginia, which is about 40-50 min from D.C.

I did get to do some traveling nursing for a year and got to live in Tucson, Salt Lake City and Seattle for 3-4 months each, that was fun. :)

snuggle, I'm from Mettmann. It's a small town 20 minutes away from Düsseldorf and half an hour from cologne. I think Schalke is the best team, too, but I'd never tell that my father, he likes Dortmund (yuck)!

He, I know Gelsenkirchen, too. Because of Schalke, actually. Can't think of anything else I know of this town. Sorry.

But then, Chemnitz is very popular everywhere :wink

Yeah, there does seem to be a few in the Glasgow area. I happen to be one of them (though I don't live in Glasgow itself, but I tend to go out there a lot). I know one other kitten personally but that's all. I'm hoping to widen my kitten circle a bit. ;)

I'm originally from Portsmouth, not gonna ask if people know of the place coz I have the feeling you do. It's not exactly very small. :)

I also lived in Darlington for a while, now that's a less popular place, I think. Nice town though.

My sleepy hometown

Postby Prophecygal » Fri Sep 27, 2002 4:21 am

I was born in York, PA. I lived in little Beaver Falls, Pa until I was 3 (never saw any beavers). Moved to somewhere in New Jersey, don't know where until I was 5. Moved to Brea, California. When I moved here it was just homes and orange groves. Now there are no orange groves at all. We used to have a comedy club here (The Improv - It closed) and a young comic called Brea, "The Little Mall that could." The only reason we are even on the map is that the 57 freeway goes through our city. 20 years ago they built a mall and the rest is history. In the past few years they have bulldozed over historic downtown brea and put up 2 movie megaplexes and trendy cafes, they have torn up the older neighborhoods and have started to build little trendy condos. Now it is hard to live here at all. The average cost to rent a 1 bedroom apartment is $950 a month! The average cost of a 1200sq foot house is $350,000! I rent a bedroom in a 3 bedroom condo for $460 a month. I think I need to find a new town.

Postby Mainer » Wed Dec 18, 2002 12:48 pm

Well, since I'm trying to be more outgoing and no one mentioned it yet, I'm from Maine. I live in a small town (about 4,000 people) just outside of the city of Bangor, which has 30,000 and is the third largest in the state. We lack people in Maine, but it's a great place to live. I've lived in the same town, and the same house all 24 years of my life. :)

As being a Dane, I live in the Scandinavian country Denmark.

I live in a small town called Havdrup (5500 inhabitants) about 40 km away from Copenhagen our Capital.

Denmark is a small country and compared to almost every country, everything here are tiny...but not necessarily boring...:)

I live smack dab near the middle of the US in Lincoln, Nebraska in the middle of nowhere! :(

I was raised in Chicago, however, and usually get back there once or twice a year. My roommate also has parents in Dallas Texas and we usually go down there twice a year too.

It's cool to see so many kittens from so many different areas.

I'm from Exeter in Devon originally, but I've been in Stoke for the last 24 years. That's where Wedgwood, Doulton etc made all their pottery before they bought cheap factories in the Far East & put loads of people onto the dole, along with all the ex-miners. Yay for sunny Smoke-on-Stench!!

I live in Toronto - right downtown. It's a decent city as big cities go despite the fact I'm told the rest of Canada doesn't like us very much. ;)

Hi to BBOvenguy (I used to watch 'You can't do that on television'!) , Arwen, specialk and any other Canadian kitties I may have missed.

Still Waters Run Deep - I've been in your corner of the world. Wales is beautiful country, especially your neck of the woods. I love sailing too.

Puff - I lived in Abingdon when I went to Oxford. I have cousins who live in Thatcham (previously Cholsey). I remember walking along the Thames and seeing the lovely view that is the Didcot towers. ;)

I grew up in Kingsport, TN. It's a relatively small town (around 35,000 people) up near the northeastern tip of the state. I liked it while I was there, but after moving away I realized how junky it was, and now I wouldn't go back if you paid me. That town is dying a very slow death. For college, I went to Clemson University in SC. The absolute best time of my life. I LOVE Clemson and will be a Tiger fan forever. (Although SC as a state is really not that impressive .... they were the very last state in America to declare MLK day to be a holiday. It only happened a year or two ago. And then there was the whole Confederate flag thing .... go figure.)

I just went back and read the previous posts in this thread ..... hey BOB!! You went to Vandy? No shit! That's where I am now!! I'm getting my master's in computer science. (This might sound weird, but did you like Vandy while you were there? Cause I really don't. It's like no one has a life outside of studying. Ah well. I can't wait to get my degree and LEAVE.)

So, um, for now I live in Nashville, TN. Nice place .... I'm slowly warming to it .... but there's really nothing here that would convince me to stay.

was born in Guildford, a very posh town in the home counties where we speak the queens english, but lived in a small Village just outside G'ford called Send, went to school in Burpham. (yes odd names I know!)

Then moved to Exeter, (uni years) where I picked up a slight westcountry twang, which I promtly lost when I moved to greater London where I currently reside in Isleworth, the end of the piccadilly line and techincally in Middlesex right under the heathrow flight path! Spend a lot of time in Basingstoke where my Mrs lives which is a concrete jungle of townies. Have chums all over the place in South England so see lots of places like portsmouth, petersfield, Woking, Fleet and so on.

Where are all the other southern England Kitties hiding?

Since the UK Kitties are roll-calling I'll check in. I'm from Watford, which is about 15 miles North of London on the southern tip of Hertfordshire.

My accent is kinda blah cause it's not London but its certainly not posh!

Grew up in Bristol, south west England. Got rid of most of the accent during my time in Stoke-on-Trent where I learnt to say duck after everything, then Portsmouth where I learnt to say Hi Sailor after everything (ok, not really to that one). Now live in the country nr Stansted, about 25 miles north of London. At least until they expand the airport to cover it all....

Until then at least I get cheap flights on my doorstep.

Hello to all southern Uk'ers.
