I live in Miami, Florida. And I have to say, I've lived here all my life and like it to a certain extent, but this living in this city is like living in a madhouse. It's like some crazy city you'd expect Alice to have stubled into on her visit to Wonderland. We've got absentee balot scandals, election fiascos, little Cuban boys washing up to our shores, huricanes and random thunder storms (Florida's actually the state with the most anual sightings of tornadoes and lightning, go figure)...we have Key West, which has one of the highest populations of homosexuals in the US and thousands of homosexuals living all over Miami, and yet bible-thumpers manage to get enough signatures to get an Human Rights bill regarding homosexuals reversed, which would allow discrimination in terms of finances, housing and employment on the basis of sexuality. Then you hear on the news that the campaign was beign held under suspicion for possibly forging signatures, and yet, the issue is still left on the ballot!? there's the beach, which is madness. This is a place where no one ever goes to be themselves...its almost as if you have to become someone else at South Beach. So everyone is better-looking and better-dressed than they normally are, and you'll see random 14 year old girls walking by at 3AM wearing outfits they must have borrowed from their 2 year old sisters. Its all madness!! Growing up in this city was madness...Imagine sitting in math class in high school, and having a fellow classmate get up because her beeper went off. Now imagine the teacher asking her where she's going. Seems tame enough right? Well, now imagine that girl saying, "I have to go; my pimp is calling me!" and never coming back to class again. Or imagine your art teacher getting arrested while in class for allegedly smoking weed in the parking lot, and your once tame art class turning into Dangerous Minds suddenly without a teacher. Imagine a girl walking into your 6TH GRADE geography class so high she cant sit so falls out of her chair. Imagine a fight in junior high where one guy stabs another guy in the eye with a pencil!! And I went to relatively good, suburban schools. Or imagine starting school weeks late, because your town was nearly decimated by a category 4 huricane that practically leveled a whole city, and left the rest of Miami without power, sanitary water and phones for nearly 2 months. Miami's a crazy place to live, but you get used to it and actually start to like it. And then again, its not all bad...we've got the Dolphins. 1972 undefeated season. Most Winniest Team in NFL history, with the most winniest coach and the most record-setting QB, who defeated our biggest rivals, the despised JETS this sunday and pratically shut them out and are now 3-0. So yeah, this city's not all bad ;) we have our moments of glory.

Hmmm...

I'm originally from Pine Bluff, AR (recognized by "20/20" as "Worst City in the Country" a few times many years ago).

Left Pine Bluff LITERALLY the first day I could, and moved to Jonesboro, AR to attend ASU.

Got into radio and moved to Cape Girardeau, MO.

Got fired. Moved to Laurel, MS.

Left there to move to Little Rock, AR for a job that lasted 6 months. Went to the station across town, been there 2 and a half years, and I've lived in Little Rock for 3 years now.

One of these days, I WILL live in New Orleans.

I will NOT live in Birmingham. Heh.

Amen to that. Only here in Vegas could you say to a tourist "It's only 105? It's nice out" (I did that in July. I think I scared the poor East Coaster)

I live in a scuzzy town in the deep south of england, called Horsham/Crawley (if you want a job you say horsham, if you want to win a fight you say crawley)

We are right next to Gatwick airport and not far from Brighton.

Its FULL of rough pubs and "townies" (who dont like me).

The only good things are the skatepark and the mall.

Everyone who lives here either works in london or at the airport,

It rains alot, but when its hot its REALLY hot, cos theres no breeze and when its cold its even more miserable then normal.

So i was born here, i live here but theres NO WAY iam dying here, Iam off to Cornwall for the surf, or if i win the lottery then California :)

Originally I was from a small town called Didcot stuck in between Reading and Oxford really; probably as far away fromt he ocean as you could get in England.

Now I am in Campbell CA pretty near San Jose. I like the weather here much better, but sometimes I miss the fact that there's no grass around here unless you water it.

I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, and currently live in Niterói, a city nearby.

There's not much to talk about Niterói, though. People say that the best part of living here is having a perfect view of Copacabana... :) Anyway, I started coming to Niterói because of the university some ten years ago and ended up falling in love with a native... then I moved here. I intend to move to Curitiba, Paraná, in the future; it's not such a famous city as Rio, but it's extremely beautiful. People should go there more often for sightseeing, I really love it!

Hey all!

I'm currently living in a small town in germany not far from cologne. It's called Mettmann but I like to call it "the-most-boring-place-any-human-being-has-ever-seen"! And I'm really not exaggerating! I'm planning on moving to cologne in a year though. After I finished school I'll go to america for a year :bounce Columbus, GA, to be exactly.

I was born in Munich, Germany (the place where the German cliches come from...and no, I don't drink beer for breakfast) and live 30 miles north of it in an 'idyliic' little town called Pfaffenhofen where 65% vote for the conservative party. It's this side of boring but well, it's my home town.

I was raised in this little village (Mapleton) in southeastern Ontario, Canada that if you drove through and hiccuped you'd miss it. A very small farming community that I miss so much. *sigh* The city really does suck. I'm now living in St. Thomas, Ontario. The town known for killing Jumbo the elephant! Yeek! It has some nice things though, like my favourite cafe called The Beanery, and it features some really nice parks, etc.....

Hey QuOS, Bagheera... More Novocastrians, that's what I like to see. :)

I went to University in Newcastle for 5 years, so I know exactly where you're coming from. I go back whenever I can to visit friends and have a cold Ginger Beer down at the brewery. :)

But now I'm a Sydney girl... home of the "Best Olympics Ever" *yawn* and currently about to host the Gay Games (which I'm WAY more excited about! :bounce ) Yes, we of the weird Opera House and coathanger shaped bridge.

But I love this damn city, faults and all. It kind of protects us in a way. I come from a small coastal country town and the freedom and openness of Sydney saved my life and made me the person I am today.

I live in Glasgow Great city, great people, rains a lot!! Think that sums it up perfectly

I can't quote all the others because we'd run out of room, but I think the tally of Glaswegians (or Glasgow residents, at least) is now officially 6 on this board including me and my gf.

I've never had a deep fried mars bar OR a roll and mince, but I have had deep fried pizza (in my younger more adventurous days!). Ugghhh!

I only just qualify as a Glaswegian, despite having been born here. I've only just made it to the milestone (in the last few months) of having officially spent more of my life in Glasgow than in England!

I was in the forces and other places I've lived include: Aldershot, Swindon (near to Westbury which features in ep 7.01 ), Woolwich (SE London), Victoria (Central London - round the corner from Buckingham Palace), Port Stanley (Falkland Islands), Ripon (North Yorkshire), Hull (East Yorkshire), Scarborough (North Yorkshire - I went to school there and for a long time felt it was truly 'home'). I've also spent time in Chester, Krefeld (Germany), St Thomas (Ontario) and NYC, although all of these four were much shorter stays but I still love all of these places.

Quote:

Yeah, Arwen. They erected a life size statue of Jumbo (I've stood under his belly, which is officially 5ft 5inches high - my height) and they pointed his butt at the main road into the place, so that's the first thing anyone sees - Jumbo's butt! I have friends who live there too.

I've travelled a bit but now I belong to Glasgow and Glasgow belongs to me... (lol... the Glasgow kitties will get that).

If we won the lottery, we'd buy a place in NYC and travel all over the world but we'll always keep our flat here. It really is a great city.
