I fell in love with Army girl instantly. I loved her badges. :lol She had such a great attitude and boundless enthusiasm and her singing was pretty good. They should have kept her, absolutely.

I am on the Scooter Girl Love Train now, oh yes. I'm ready to vote for her right now, just because. She was awesome. I usually just watch the auditions and quit watching after that, but I'm going to watch this season for real for Scooter Girl. :heart

SG is like...such a breath of fresh air in there. And you could tell Simon (whom I usually detest) likes her, which is saying a lot about her charisma.

Also thought the red-headed guy's singing was excellent, once he dropped that weird Dean Martin thing.

The other people were okay, so far. I only have eyes for SG now, though.

Yep, Scooter Girl totally rocks!

I also love red-head swanky crooner guy. I can't see him winning American Idol just because I don't think his style is "generic" enough. Which sorta sounds like I'm dissing the Idols. Oops. ;)

So go Scooter Girl!

(Army Girl was adorable)

And hey! Where was the hilarious "She Bang" guy? Soooo funny!

Ok does anyone happen to have a download of last night's ep somewhere??? :cry Our TIVO was doing overtime and we couldn't get AI2004 because SOMEONE'S partner decided that Fear Factor was more important :p I wanted to strangle her for taking deer testicles over singing talent and the bitchiness that is Simon.

How can I have missed two seasons of American Idol? How?! Ah well, I've found it now.

Are the "real" shows as fun as the audition shows? Some of these people are very sadly deluded about their singing ability. Hitting notes IS a good thing. Yes. Wow.

So, tonight, I like hottie blond boy who sand to Paula. :grin Just cause he was really cute. Some others stood out, but too many to remember specifically.

I'm still waiting for "She Bang" though.

Yeah, I love the auditions. The auditions are the best part but then you get attached to the contestants and you have to follow through.

There were some good singers and god some truly terrible ones. I loved that "what a feeling" girl and her friend was just outraged they didn't take her. I say huh? Don't encourage!! :p

It is funny at how universal this thing is. During world idol they showed audition clips from other countries and it was no different from what we had seen in the Netherlands. The most amazing thing is that most people who went to the auditions really believed they had a chance when it was so blatantly obvious that they could NOT sing. It amazed me even more that after the first editition people still did not have a clue. Not just the candidates, the friends and family too at times. Some people sucked ass and just before they went on you would see their family and friends praising them into high heaven. Amazing, I love it.

I'd love to see the US version except that I honestly cannot stand that Simon guy. There is one member of the Dutch jury I don't like, but he does not say a lot, the rest I actually like and get the impression that over here they have been so much more mild in their comments to the candidates than in some other countries. Still, here we have had some people tooting their professional horns and claiming that all these poor badly singing teenage candidates making fools of themselves would be scarred for life, pfff, puleaze, some of the biggest 'dorks' are local heros now and get invited to other shows because they had the nerve to be odd in public. Good for them. I am curious, have there been any people making similar complaints in the US? That the jury is too hard, that the candidates might become emotionally scarred forever because of this show?

I just get a sense that he is way too full of himself and I heard he badmouthed Madonna, so he needs to be removed from TV forever. :p Seriously though, I don't mind the fact that jurors give hard criticism or make sarcastic comments, but some of them seem to live for it, world idol clearly showed that (but I understand that each country showed different jurors, so if you missed the Polish and Canadian guy my point is lost a bit), but Simon was not the worst there for sure. Maybe I need to see more of him to really tell, but for now I don't like him, does not mean I would not love to see the auditions, hee, they are the best part of the show for me. The funniest and after that I get attached to the wrong people, the ones that get kicked out. :happy

No there haven't been but I wouldn't be surprised if we got some of those.

Simon is rude and nasty but some of those people need to hear it. And when Paula Abdul is kissing ass and Randy is making no sense, Simon can tell it like it is, even to the favorites who have an off night. I don't always agree with him, but often I do.

I've got a love/hate thing with Simon. More love though. :grin

As for the Madonna thing, I saw him on The View and he said he was sort of misquoted. (ok, I don't know what the original quote is, so hey!) He was saying that "the kiss" was just lame because it was so calculated and planned and that she's cooler than that. So he does like her.

I saw Cowell talking about Madonna on an episode of Leno a few days ago (which btw I normally never watch because it just can't even compare to Letterman). The quote was apparently from his book, and he was saying that Madonna used to be good looking, but now she's a housewife.

As for American Idol, I was really surprised Army Girl didn't go through (she made a big mistake setting herself up for the 'bad at everything' quip). Scooter girl kind of annoyed me with her dancing after she left the audition room, plus she gave away the scooter.

Huh. If that's what he said about Madonna then he's a doofus.

I can't wait for next week!

Most of the singers are a blur now so it'll be good to refresh my memory.

I never watched the show until I saw the commercial with the "She Bangs" guy. :wtf He never had professional training!!!! :rofl I nearly laughed my ass right off my couch. My gf and I kept replaying it on TiVo. I hurt from laughing so hard.

I just don't know if the rest of the season will be as entertaining for me. :p

Oh, and here's a shout out: Big Girls Rock! That was cute too.

My roomate and I watched the first four episodes just waiting to see the little "She Bangs" guy. Too too funny, and he was such a good sport, not even Simon could be that mean to him. And then there was Scat Girl :gnome ! I have never in my life heard something that bad. Heres to more of the madness to come this week!

I was talking to xita the other day, saying it would have been fun to see Edgar (the Enrique wannabe from last year's auditions) shown up.

Well he was there after all but I'm pissed they didn't show him singing (he's so bad :lmao ) but it was fun to see Simon recognized him right away and actually shake his hand when he walked in :lol

I don't know about everyone else, but a snippy bitch who tries to use "gay" as an insult is not, in my opinion, an American Idol. Snarky is one thing, but she just sucked. There are far too many people there who sing as well or better than she does, and are also cool people. So she can shove off! I was a bit surprised that she got through, but I guess they were trying to be less petty than she is.

As for pretty model-boy that I liked? Boy, is he a twit! :laugh

She sure is dykey :p I was upset I didn't get to see a lot of my favorites. At least now the coverage won't be skewed. They have to cover all the contestants :grin I liked brie or bree's audition, I downloaded the song cause I think I blinked when she was on the first time. I also liked this girl, camile velasco, she made it, she was from hawaii, real unusual voice. I also like that other girl Lisa, the one who simon called fat last year.

I don't like that older looking balding guy, i am afraid he'll get to the top 10.

The other one who stands out for me right now is Amy. I think it's Amy. The one with the sassy red hair. Woo! She's got a fun energy when she sings and I like her voice. I also like the one that Simon said reminded him of Kelly Clarkson but without a personality. Oh boy.

Scooter Girl. :( She was fun! I'm a bit miffed that she tried to tone down her wacky image for them and then they told her she was too boring. Bleh!

Scooter Girl! :cry

Please tell me why Scooter Girl is wrong for AI, but that redheaded guy isn't? He's as wrong for it as Scooter Girl was. And the judges are jerks for telling her to be more serious and then saying she was boring. Grrrrrr.

I should know better than to get too attached to anyone, but Scooter Girl was 95% of the reason I was continuing to watch AI after the auditions were over.

I'm not rooting for any of those other people. If I keep watching, a few of them will probably grow on me, but no one can replace Scooter Girl. I'm bitter.
