I just saw 'The Castle', this indie-looking aussie film about a family and their bid to keep their home from the airfield next door who wants to knock it down.

IT'S BLOODY BRILLIANT!

It's hands down the most uplifting (and one of the most funniest) films I've seen, and I recommend it to everyone.

I went to go see Underworld tonight, and I absolutly loved this movie. Going in thinking it would be a Matrix "Remix", I was more than presently surprised that it not only had a great story, a lot of twist to keep you on the edge of your seat, but Kate Beckinsale was beyond hot:thud . Definite recommend!!

A few of my other favs:

The World According to Garp (Robin Williams)

Spaceballs (yeah yeah I know)

Star Wars (umm all of them)

Lion King

Finding Nemo

The Abyss

Chance (duh)

There's more that I can't think of at the moment

have a good nite all

Some of my favourite movies:-

1. Warnings

2. Coyote Ugly

3. Blade 2

4. Clockstoppers

5. Bound

Although I'm not a huge fan of Daredevil, I thought Jennifer Garner was perfect as Electra. I really hope that Electra will get her own movie.

HOPE REIGNS: I haven't seen Underworld yet, but I'm going to and I have a very good feeling about it. Same with Kill Bill.

(And a funny thing about Kill Bill. When I saw a picture from it-Uma Thurman in her yellow outfit, wielding a katana- I immediately thought that Amber Benson would look great in her place)

First of all, cool name for this new forum ;)

It's always hard to pick just a few movies but I'll try:

- Hair (by Milos Forman)

- The Fifth Element

- The Fearless Vampires Killers (I recently came across a petition for a DVD release of this masterpiece)

- Scream

- any movie with Louis de Funès (French actor - very funny)

Then, there's The Silence of the Lambs, Sleepy Hollow, Mars Attacks, Pulp Fiction, Amelie, Amadeus, From Dusk Till Dawn, Gattaca, and so many others... I just love movies :)

And the movies I enjoyed recently:

- Michael Moore's documentaries

- Pirates of the Caribbean

- Chance

- Wrong Turn

- and some French movies

Just got back from seeing Underworld and I REALLY enjoyed it. It is set up wonderfully for a sequel.

If you don't know the story it is about a war between vampires (Deatheaters) and Werewolves (Lycans). Kate Beckinsale was wonderful as Selene and there are enough badies to sink a ship. Lots of leather, corsets and cool stunts and effects. A jolly good time.

So, the day started and I knew my name and had my pants on. So far, so good. Yay.

Thanks Puff!

I've been wanting to see it, but I wasn't sure if Kate Beckinsale in that outfit was enough incentive.

Oh heck, sure it is! :grin Goodness, that woman looks great in skintight stuff!

I just saw Once Upon A Time In Mexico and really enjoyed it even though I didn't follow a lot of the story. :lol Whatever, they are all gorgeous! Shallow, aren't I? ;)

If it hasn't been mentioned yet, then I'll mention it now.

Calendar Girls

This is a superb, funny and heart warming movie starring Helen Mirren (Prime Suspect) and Julie Walters.

It's about a group of middle aged women who attend the WI (Women's Institute) and is based on a true story. Sadly one woman's husband dies from cancer so she (Julie Walters) and her friend (Helen Mirran) decide to raise some money to pay for a sofa in the relatives room. They decide to make a calendar and if you haven't guessed it, they do it naked!:rofl

This is a superb film and well worth watching. It's open in cinemas now and is available in the States on December 19.

Finally got to see "Underworld". It was so cool! Just as I'm getting bored of vampire movies, this one comes along and provides something original. Vampires v.s. werewolves, what a neat idea. Kate Beckinsale's Selene is great, one of my all-time favourite movie characters.

A few thoughts on the movies I mentioned earlier:

1. Warnings- What I loved about this one is its cast. The acting from everyone is absolutely steller, so that you really care what happens to them. It also has very good directing and atmosphere, creating a sense of suspension and drama.

2. Coyote Ugly- A charming movie which really lifts your spirits. The characters are all likeable and interesting.

3. Blade 2- Great action and an interesting and original premise (a new race of vampires that preys on the regular kind).

4. Clockstoppers- A fun movie that blends several genres. The plot (a device that freezes time) is sci-fi, but it also has humourous moments and thrilling moments too.

5. Bound- see the thread.

Ooh, A Movie Thread!!!:)

I love movies that make you think, and my favourite at the moment is Waking Life. It's animated, but in a really head- spinning way, and it's quite philosophical. I've watched it quite a few times, and every time I get into these deep discussions with unsuspecting friends and family members afterwards.

My favourite movie of all time has to be Labyrinth, for so many reasons. I've worn out 2 copies of that movie, and I still sit there everytime watching it with a huge grin on my face.

Postby willowsgirl » Mon Oct 20, 2003 7:59 am

Fave movies eh? I wasnt gonna force you all to read my list of faves, cos it'll prob b a long one. But.... KIWIGRRL went and mentioned 'labyrinth' and now Im all excited :lol

So here goes...

Labyrinth- everything about this film is amazing, i even know all the words to the songs (should I be admitting that?oh heck!). and the little worm is so cute! 'come inside and ,eet the missus!'

Never ending story- comtinuing the childhood 80s films, this is another fave. I used to love falcor, the flying dog thingy, and was convinced that he lived in the pattern of my bathroom tiles. I was a disturbed child!

ET- One of, if not THE saddest film ever made. I just love it. Nuff said.

Almost famous- I dont have words to say how much I love this film! I am a golden God!

Girl Interrupted- Angelina, mmmmmmmmm. Seema to be the general consensus on this board!

Chocolat- Im not sure what it is about this film, its just so enchanting. I loved the book, and the movie lived up to it brilliantly.

The lion king- I might start crying just thinking about it! Hakuna matata

The Craft- Seems to be quite a popular one here, mostly for the fairly lovely Fairuza Balk. A wicked film, but I still have to look away at the scary bugs bit!

Donnie darko- Loads of my friends hate this film, I dont know why- its great. The soundtrack is fab too! and Jake's a cutie ;)

The matrix- One word. Trinity. Oh, and its got pretty good special effects too, and a philosophical message. Still...Trinity :drool

and one more for good luck, of the highly embarassing sort! I cant believe Im owning up to this but...

Never been kissed- Theres something about this film that makes me watch it at least every couple of weeks. Has the obvious appeal of Drew Barrymore, but I dont think thats it. Its just so cute, and at the ending I always think 'oh no, he's not coming', even though Ive seen it a billion times!

Anyways, sorry about putting you through that folks! Just blame kiwigrrl for mentioning the labyrinth- Dance magic dance!

I went to see Love Actually the other day because we didn't want to see the new Matrix movie. I had such a huge grin on my face leaving the movie, it was wonderful. It was a shame that only heterosexual love was dealt with but I enjoyed the movie anyway and the soundtrack was brilliant.

I haven't watched English TV for a few years either and it was really nice to still recognise faces and go oh she was in Eastenders and he was in Ballykissangel.

Loved this movie

Postby BytrSuite » Wed Dec 31, 2003 1:28 pm

I finally saw Chicago last night. I was interested when they first started making it but I tend to shy away from movies or TV shows that get a lot of hype. So, I just kind of let it go and let the hoopla pass.

Wow. As soon as it started I was kind of transfixed. Both CZJ and RZ are hot in their own way. Man, when they both were on the screen I didn't know who to focus on. The entire cast was amazing, really. So glad that they did their own singing and dancing, it would have tainted it for me otherwise.

I'll have to watch it again to see if it stands up to repeated viewings. I'm thinking yes, simply because I bet there were things I missed when I was sort of zoned out just staring at all the pretty.

The last movie I saw had no eye candy in it--The Interview with Hugo Weaving. Okay, so he's cool, with his roles in the Matrix movies, and Lord of the Rings, and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, but he's so perfect in this as the sleazy little victim of police brutality...

...or is he?

Nah.
