I don't know how reliable this is, but on Budweiser.com, if you look under Entertainment and click on Tru Calling, it says that the show was just picked up for another season.

:bounce

Woo Hoo if that is reliable!!!!!

:pinky

That makes me happy.

I certainly hope so. I have seen the first 9 episodes now and I have enjoyed all but one. The episode where those medical students stop their hearts so they can see their lives flash before their eyes was a total Flatliner rip-off (assuming Flatlners isn´t a rip-off of another movie or something). It was so blatant that I was expecting Tru to comment on it just to acknowlegde this fact but I guess she has not seen the movie. Another thing that bugged me about that episode are the blatant medical mistakes. If they did ask a medical expert for their opinion, they either did not listen or whoever they asked needs to have their diploma checked.

Anyway, I have enjoyed all the other episodes so well that I will make sure ownload and watch every episode. The only character I seriously do not like is Tru´s brother, I cannot stand him at all, and I wonder why they cast two of the blondest people to be Tru´s siblings, on the other hand it´s not impossible for sibs to look nothing like each other. My youngest brother looks nothing like my other brother and I. Oh well, I have yet to see a show where one of the characters did not annoy me. I will put up with him if we get another season.

Unfortunately I missed that particular episode (unfortunately? Maybe not...), but the series is rampant with not only hard medical mistakes, but the ethical behavior of medical staff is riduculous as well!

I'm a nitpicker by nature anyway (I'm a Trekkie... it comes with the territory), and I'm also currently in school for nursing. If I hear one more thing about HIPAA, I'm going to :gnome ! It's laughable to think that a doctor would disclose nearly all of a patient's medical history to someone just because she's in nursing uniform (nevermind the fact that the doctor had never seen that person in that hospital before in his life). (For the record, I'm speaking of the episode with the soldier in the VA hospital.) I mean, I do understand some things need to be fudged for expository reasons, but sheesh! Have some imagination!

All that being said, I do like this show, and I'm glad it may be picked up for another season. My television schedule is dwindling as is, and I don't like to pick up shows in the middle of their run. Well, I suppose I could read a book or something...:hmm ..nah.

EDIT: Thanks for catching my typo, Jen! :bigwave

Oooh, Catie, another person who is sick of the letters, HIPPA. :smash You're right. There are so many HIPPA violations, it's crazy!

I hope this is the last time we see boring Luc. He's a nice guy and all, but Tru deserves better. :heart

Garfield, you want to team up and go hunt down Tru's brother? :devil OH... where do you DL the episodes from?

It's rumoured (on spoilerslayer.com) that Tru Calling has been renewed for a second season. Of course, all the Joss fans are up in arms...

I'm guessing it's because Tru Calling was picked up whereas Angel has been cancelled. I know many of my friends were hoping Tru Calling would be cancelled so there could have maybe been an Faith-based series. Oh well.

Yes, that's exactly why. If Tru Calling got cancelled, the Jossophytes could hope for a Faith spinoff. Never mind the fact that Joss has stopped talking about one because he's obsessed with his Firefly movie, and never mind the fact that no network has expressed any interest in such a spinoff. Jossophytes rarely let facts get in the way of their world views.

Postby NeitherHereNorThere » Mon Feb 23, 2004 7:07 pm

I think it sucks that Angel got cancelled, I love Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker and J. August Richards and there's really nothing else to see them in, but I won't get into that here...

Anyway. I'm really hoping that Tru Calling got renewed. I don't think it's gotten a fair chance, considering the shows it's up against. I liked Faith, but I'm glad there won't be a spin-off. I like seeing Eliza in another TV role. And so many people said Tru Calling would get cancelled right away, I'd love to see them proved wrong. Go Eliza! :applause

Oh. And I don't let facts get in the way of my world views, but then I'm not some sort of Joss-worshipper. :D

I'd be lying if I said I never wanted to see Eliza play "Faith" again: sorry, but I just love that character. :luv

Having said that, I'll be pleased as punch if Tru has in fact been renewed. The show is quite good now, and ED is, of course, outstanding (not counting the :drool and the :thud ). The show can only get better. :clap

GG Looking forward to Jason Priestly, who I think is underrated as an actor---and boring Luc is gone: Yay! Out

that's pretty cool if its true that that the show gets a second season, especially since it wasn't on last week or this week and it is February sweeps.

when do the episodes with Jason Priestly start?

So, it looks like there's going to be a second season, then.

Voted, an easy choice given the competition. I´ve been watching the episodes out of order, but I´m all caught up now. I really enjoyed most of them. Can´t wait for the next one with Clare Kramer.

red dress :eyebrow

Red Dress :drool

RED DRESS!!! :thud

GG There may have also been a plot tonight . . . a reporter onto Tru, and Davis tells Tru that Tru's mom could turn back the clock too. Something like that . . . I was just too busy :drool -ing and :thud -ing to pay that much attention. :p Out

Oh yeah, and Clare: love her, but felt she was kinda wasted here.

Agree with you about Clare. She just reminded me of her Glory days. She's looking beautiful though.

Um... was there actually a plot tonight? All I saw was that red dress, too. :hmm

Funny that!

Re: New Tru

Postby Hemiola » Fri Mar 19, 2004 7:28 am

Very much agreeing with Jennpurr and GG about that dress, which so beautifully showed off her, um, attributes:thud

About the plot: so it seems we are once again dealing with a "Chosen One", although this time we seem to have a case of "matrilineal inheritance" of power as opposed to "random" attribution of power by an inchoate "Powers That Be". I will really be interested to see how they handle this...:hmm

Of course, this also begs the question: why did Tru inherit the power? If it is supposed to go through females, why didn't Meredith get it? If the gender is not a factor, why not Harrison?? Could it simply be because she asked to receive the power (remember the pilot!)??? Curioser and curioser as Alice said;)

Oh yeah, and it was nice to see Clare Kramer again:)

Re: New Tru

Postby Gatito Grande » Fri Mar 19, 2004 4:37 pm

Huh: interesting speculation, Hemiola. Could it be that Meredith turned to drugs precisely in order to not have/deal with "the gift"?

GG How does Davis know about Tru's mom? What's their connection? That's what I wanna know. :hmm Out

Oh, and you're right about something else: of course, it wasn't the dress per se, it's what the dress revealed/highlighted! :drool

Ah, Red Dress, Red Dress, Red Dress, Red Dress. Also great to see Clare Kramer and Alexandra Holden on TV again.

Do we know anything about Tru's Mother except that she died 6(?) years ago? I think the power isn't inherited, but it was just passed on to Tru at the funeral. Hey, maybe there's been a whole line of people doing this.
