I am using Internet Explorer version 5, if I am correct in assuming that is what you mean by "browser". I am fairly computer illiterate, especially where the internet is concerned.

I am just trying to figure things out. What you list is part of the code I use for having different banners on all the forums.



I am on windows xp , and I have explorer 6.0. I don't see this error message. So it's hard for me to trouble shoot it. Anyone else seeing it?



Can you upgrade the browser?



Do you see teh banners on the board?

I got the same messages as Hair Annoyed all day yesterday. Then today they were gone and I thought, yay, but they are back again. As for what browser I use it’s Internet explorer 5 and it’s running on windows 98. Oh and since yesterday I haven’t been able to view the banners. I noticed the day before yesterday that they had changed to new ones but I only saw them once and no banners since then.

fixed the wave banner. I hope changing the code fixed the errors for you guys now.

I've started getting the error messages and lack of banners xita. It was fine on my mac this morning, but that's out of action at the moment so I'm on a machine that has windows 98 and IE 5.0.

As of this moment there are no more pop-up error messages but there is an obvious error going on cause the page loads up but without any banners anywhere. Oh, and when the page finishes loading up on the bottom left corner of the browser it’s says “Done, but with errors on page.”

ETA: Damn, I spoke too soon. The pop-up Error Messages are back. The same three from before and still no banners. Bugger!!!

Ok, I am inquring with ezboard about the code, so far it checks out, they think it has to do with the age of the browser. The only other solution would be to get rid of the different banners on all the boards and just have one for the entire board and I don't want to do that



So you have a couple of options, upgrading to IE 5.5/6 or using a diff browser.



You can also disable that notification of errors. You won't see the banners but at least you'll stop seeing the errors.



Here are instructions to do that:



Advanced Tab of the Internet Options dialog box



Under Tools menu select 'Internet Options...' and then in the upper right of the dialog box click 'Advanced' Tab. Immediately note that you need never fear of mistakes or errors, because in the lower right there is a Restore Defaults button that will set it up as it was before you started messing with it.



Errors in received pages &c.



There are two items in that list that have to do with error messages.

Disable script debugging should be checked.

*



Display a notification about every scripting error NOT checked.







Here is what that should look like

I'm not having any problems at all with my browser



I loaded the Kitten in IE 6 and I didn't get any errors at all. I'm also on Win98SE.

Well, I Disabled Script Debugging and unchecked Display a notification about every scripting error and at least that eliminated the annoying pop-up Error Message box. Still no banners , but at least I got to see them briefly before the board went all wonky on me. They were pretty . Great job on those by the way, even though I can’t see them anymore . I’m a little wary about upgrading my browser at this moment. This is the only site I have a problem with so I think I’ll wait and see how it goes. Thanks anyway for all your help Xita it’s much appreciated.

No I do not see the banners except on the Kitten forum. You know, that reminds me that this problem seems to have started the day you created that new forum "Genuine Molded Plastic". I wonder why? Anyway, I did as you suggested and went to the "Internet Options - Advanced" tab in Internet Explorer, but the "disable script debugging" box was already checked so that didn't work. I can't upgrade or change the browser just now, but I hope to get a new computer before the end of the year. So it seems I shall just have to suffer through until then. Thank you anyway for trying to help.

What happened was I have this java script for the banners, when I went to add that banner, the thing wasn't working right, so I went back to ezboard help and they had a new code for this and I changed to that code and while this code makes things right for me now it's throwing errors on older browsers I am still looking and trying to figure things out.

I bought a new computer last week and it's been two days I can't see any emoticons or avatars on the board. The pictures on top and bottom of the page are not here either...



Could someone help me??



I'm using windows XP and explorer 6.0, sorry but I don't know much more about this comp, and I'd appreciate some help...

Is this happening everywhere or just on the board? If you can't see any pictures on the internet it sounds like it could be the "show pictures" option in IE. If you open up IE and go to the Tools menu and then go to the Internet Options, and that will open a window. Click on the Advanced tab, which is the last tab, you should see something like what xita posted above with all the check boxes. If you scroll down in that you come to a multimedia section, look and see if "Show pictures" is selected or not.



If that isn't it... have you checked the Microsoft site to see if you have all the updates for IE? Or... do you have any ad blocking software installed? Or perhaps Kazaa?



Have you tried viewing the page in another browser to see if you have the same problem?

thanks for answering. Images show perfecly on other sites but here i only see a couple of emoticons and avatars eg i see yours, Kajo's and BytrSuite's but that's it. And for tha availabel emoticons i only see 8 of them (no nice cow )



I do have kazaalite should i do something with it? Cause i only have one browser...

Well, depending on which version of Kazaalite you have, you might have some ad blocking thrown into your HOSTS file. To check this go to your systems32 folder then drivers then etc. On my computer it's this path:



c:windowssystem32driversetc



Open the HOSTS file with notepad. You shouldn't see much in there other than a few instructions and one address. If there's any more addresses than that, then it could be the problem. You could delete the extra addresses, or put a "#" in front of them. Not sure if this is your problem or not, but Kazaalite sometimes adds addresses in there to stop the ads.



Also, if you have any other type of ad blocking software or firewall it could be the problem. I think most of the stuff you're not seeing is from xita's server which does have an ".ad" in the address. I had a problem with this it the past, because I was blocking anything with ".ad" in it to prevent seeing ads.

I don't have a question, just sort of an observation. Wasn't really sure where it should go, so I figured this was a good thread. Feel free to move it if I'm wrong. I won't be too horribly hurt.



seriously though. Ever notice how your post has absolutely no errors in it, (and you've read 4 or 5 times so you know), but when you actual post it to the board and re-read it......there they are. The run-on sentences, all the bad spelling, and don't forget the left out words.



Or is it just me?

Lisa, it is not just you, I myself of course do not have this problem whenever I post my post I make sure there are no mistakes in my post and that all my sentenses are fluently constructioned it helps if the spell check works but oddly enough it has this habbit of breaking down whenever I make the stupidest spelling errors or typos.



Seriously, it is not just you. I have at times edited posts that were months old (when threads were at the top of course, no unneccesary bumping) to remove glaring errors. Not that anyone would notice the edit, but dammit, it would drive me crazy otherwise. The most frustrating part is when someone else just happens to quote a sentence of mine with a big flaming glaring horrible mistake in it. I can edit myself, but I can't edit the quote. Well I could, but it would be abusing the moderating privilege.

The last mosquito that bit me had to check into the Betty Ford Clinic.
