PART NINE (No Matter What)

The sunlit and cheery ambiance that had enveloped the small town of Sunnydale began to fade; the once luminous sun shielded by the large puffy clouds in the sky, the drizzling rain outside had begun to pour as heavy droplets from the heavens pounded even harder against the windshield exterior of the Maclay’s modest-sized sedan.

Steve’s view of the road from the driver’s seat was overwhelmed by the relentless torrent of the hammering rainfall above, the windshield wipers frantically swaying from left to right and right to left again as the rain continued to pummel from the darkening sky.

Steve Maclay squinted his eyelids in order to get a better view of the road ahead, trying to catch a glimpse of the grey pavement that he knew was there, the flashing shine of the street lights above that were barely visible from his position inside the vehicle. The growing perspiration forming on the clear glass blocked even more of his view, clutching the steering wheel tightly in his grasp, Steve carefully drove.

As the rain pounded even harder, Steve’s mind raced with a surge of thoughts and a sudden rush of memories, a young girl’s voice emanated from his eardrums, the familiar shine of blue eyes perched in his mind behind his chocolate depths.

Steve shut his eyes for a brief second, swallowing the lump in his throat and gripping the steering wheel tighter; he couldn’t get himself to brush away the thoughts in his mind, the voices in his head. He was engulfed by it, the moments playing steadily in his mind as if it was yesterday.

He could hear Tara’s voice, he could see Tara’s shining blue eyes, he could feel his daughter’s very existence in his consciousness, invading his every will and engulfing him into a moment that seemed like an eternity ago, but knowing in his heart that it wasn’t. Her laughter echoed in his mind, her tiny face evaded his psyche; he could feel her in his veins. So many years ago…

”Daddy?” Tara held a tiny daisy in her hands. “I picked this out just for you.” The small blonde bundle voiced softly, her blue depths sparkling in innocence, her arms outstretched as she meekly handed the small flower to her father, her smile beaming brightly as she watched the older man accept her offering. “You like it?”

“I love it, pumpkin.” Steve pulled his small child into his arms. “You’re just my little daddy’s girl aren’t you?” he held his daughter in front of him, their faces close together as he felt Tara grab onto his broad shoulders. Steve brought his fingers onto little Tara’s nose and gently pinched the bridge of it, his eyes softening as his child’s playful giggle echoed in his ears.

“Daddy.” Tara giggled, gently pushing his shoulders with her hands. “You know I am.”

“You go play with your brother now.” He urged as he gently placed Tara on the green grass, watching the small bundle hop away in happiness. “Be careful.”

“Okay, daddy.” Tara nodded and skipped away, she got a few steps before turning back to her father, her blue eyes full of deep thought. “I’ll always be your little girl.”

Steve shook his head away from his thoughts, the vivid flashback that invaded his psyche eventually faded but the memory stayed in the back of his mind like a mark that couldn’t be ignored, something that couldn’t and wouldn’t go away, the traces of his reminiscence still clear as day.

He sighed aloud and went back to the road ahead of him, the rain was still plummeting from the dreary sky harshly and the clatter of thunder resonated from somewhere around them, a loud thunderous shrill that caused his thoughts to come back to him once more, another memory that chilled him to his bone, a recent one. He inhaled a breath and shut his eyes tightly before opening them once more, his vision blurred.

“Get out of here.” Steve’s voice filtered across the room, a rough tone that held no apologies. “If you’re going to be like that then I want you out of this house.”

“Be like what?” Tara questioned her father, her voice was filled with hurt but she managed to stand her ground. “I just want you to accept me for who I am."

“Then who are you?” her father asked plainly. “Who the hell are you, Tara?”

“What?” Tara managed to utter, not believing what was coming out of her father's mouth, not believing that her mother was being completely silent in the corner of the room. "I'm your daughter."

“I don’t know you anymore.” Steve shook his head at his daughter, calmly walking to the front door and opening it out for the blonde. “You come in here and you tell me you’re gay like it’s no big deal…this affects us, not just you.” He stated simply, his facial expressions never changing. “Who do you think you are, Tara?”

“I’m not you’re little girl anymore.” Tara said softly, her blue eyes shimmering with tears. "But I'm still your daughter."

Steve let out another breath and clenched his jaw, his eyes filling with uncertainty as he slammed his hands roughly onto the steering wheel. Steve grabbed at his chocolate colored hair in frustration, urging his thought to subside, not wanting to think about them at that moment.

“You thought about her didn’t you?” Lila asked from her corner of the passenger seat, she hadn’t said a word until that moment and she hadn’t wanted to until she easily read the conflicting facial expressions from her husband’s face, knowing exactly what he was thinking about.

Steve said nothing as he focused on the road, ignoring his wife’s questioning. Lila already knew the answer and he really didn’t want to admit that he was might be having second doubts about Tara. Steve swallowed his words and continued to drive, they were almost there. He could already see the dim outline of the hospital from a distance, even with his vision blurred by the heavy rainfall falling from the sky.

It took less than five minutes to reach Sunnydale Memorial and by the time they did, the rain was still pouring down heavily and the Maclay’s needed their umbrella’s to shield their heads from the torrential raindrops above them.

Lila ran from their parked car to the entrance of the hospital in lighting flash, her hands gripping the circular handle of her umbrella securely as she tried in vain to avoid the relentless downfall of the chilly raindrops falling heavy and hard onto the solid grey asphalt road, her shoes splashed onto the small puddles on the pavement as she reached the end curb and eventually under the haven of cover.

Mrs. Maclay looked back and watched as her husband followed close behind, his paces a bit slower but just as hurried, just a few feet behind her.

“Damn rain!” Steve cursed to himself as he reached his wife’s side, he pushed the button of his umbrella and closed it in, shaking away the liquid water from the plastic’s exterior. “Did you remember to bring the stuff for Donnie?” he asked the other woman, brushing his fingers over his hair. “Is little Davie okay with Tracy’s parents?”

“I’m sure he’s fine.” Lila shrugged as she tottered towards the entrance of the hospital; she dug into her purse in search for something as she continued on her way, her gaze elsewhere as she continued her hasty steps, completely distracted.

Steve reached the front entrance of Sunnydale Memorial and assisted his wife with the glass door, holding open the entryway for his still sidetracked spouse. He watched as Lila nearly jogged to the elevators, his wife was halfway through the large corridors when she collided with another woman, a younger dark haired woman.

Lila’s purse crashed to the floor, all of its contents spilling onto the ground in a messy heap, her umbrella sliding across the cold tiles swiftly.

Sarah seemed dazed but she eventually recovered, the brunette got up from her knees, gave the older woman a dismissive glance, and walked out the door without a second thought, not even making an effort to help Lila with her things. Steve just watched her go.

“Can you believe that?” Steve asked his wife, his arms crossed over his chest. "Young kids today have no respect, no respect whatsoever."

Lila brushed him off and proceeded to place all of her fallen items back into her bag, she looked up momentarily and noticed that her husband hadn't even bothered to help her, or lend a hand, he wasn’t even looking at her at all. Steve was no better than the girl who she had bumped into, her husband’s arms were still crossed as he watched his wife stand up, and together they made their way upstairs.

Tara was curled into a slightly uncomfortable seat beside her brother's bed, silently fiddling with a small string in her hand, her eyes soft. “Donnie, I should go before our parents come.” She stated softy, her head lifted up to catch her brother’s gaze. “I don’t think they want to see me right now.”

“Stay, please.” Donnie said quietly, his eyes pleading somewhat as he shifted his position slightly on the bed. “You shouldn’t always feel the need to bolt every time you see them.”

Tara nodded her head softly and settled herself back into her seat. “I haven’t talked to them in over a month.” She said lightly, her voice low and faint. “I mean, I know they’re here for you but I just can’t bear to see them right now.”

"Tara, you're allowed to be here." Tracy added her two cents into the conversation. "You are one of the best people I know and if they can’t see that, and no disrespect to your parents or anything, but they’re pretty blind.”

Tara’s eyes softened, she didn’t really believe it.

With a sigh Tracy got up from her chair and gently hugged Tara from behind, pulling their bodies close together in a taut and amiable embrace, pulling her closer. “You are an angel.” Tracy assured adamantly. “Don’t you EVER let anyone make you think otherwise.” She stressed firmly, hugging her sister in law once more before aptly pulling away, placing her hands on Tara’s shoulders for a quick and reassuring squeeze. “You’re the best sister I’ve ever had and I don’t think I’ve ever thanked you for bringing Donnie and I together the way you did.”

“Ditto.” Donnie smiled.

“I just want to have a relationship with them again.” Tara declared softly, twirling the thin string with her fingers as she sadly gazed down at her hands, dim blue eyes desolately staring down. “I want to call them in the afternoon and tell them about my day, I want to knock on the door early in the morning to eat breakfast, raid the fridge for snacks and juice…I want to be able to talk to mom and dad without worrying about what they think of me, how disgusted they are.” She finished in a whisper. “I want things the way they were.”

“Hey…” Donnie sat up on the bed and fully faced his sister, his deep depths locking onto Tara’s cobalt orbs; he shook his head as he heard the blonde’s words, not wanting Tara to ever think that their parents would ever think that, not in a million years. “Don’t say that, Tare.”

“You just told them the truth.” Tracy whispered, her eyes full of compassion. “And they couldn’t accept that.”

Tara nodded her head softly and gazed down at her lap once again. “I know it’s hard to find out that one of your kids is gay, I had a hard time with it myself, but they’re not making it easier….for me or for them.” The blonde uttered out, her gaze still towards her lap. “If anything they’re just making things worse.”

Donnie was silent, but he did hold out his hand, wordlessly motioning for Tara to take it. “You know that I love you, right?” he asked his sister in the most softest and loving voice, his palm opened invitingly. “That I’ll always be here?”

Tara nodded her head and without a second thought took her brother’s hand into her own. Their palms were warm to the touch, the electricity between their skins evident as Donnie squeezed her hand tighter. “Yes.”

“Then that’s all you need to know.”

Tara smiled at that and was about to say something else when she heard the door behind them open, knowing exactly who it was. Tara slowly turned her head and met the gaze of her mother and father, an uncomfortable silence engulfing the room in an instant. Tracy rubbed her forehead awkwardly, not wanting to look up. Willow was in the corner of the room looking through some papers, pretending not to listen.

“Donnie.” Lila walked to her son’s side, grabbing him in a tight hug.

Steve stood at the base entryway of the hospital room, his hand gripping the plastic bag in his hands firmly. “You okay, boy?”

“I’m fine, dad.” Donnie nodded in a small uncomfortable smile.

Lila stepped back from her embrace and stood beside Tara, laying a gentle hand on her daughter’s shoulder. “Tara, can I talk to you?”

Tara slowly lifted her head from her lap as her sapphire eyes met her mother's.

“Please.” Lila pleaded softly, sensing her daughter’s hesitance.

Tara nodded her head slightly and followed her mother out the door, in leisurely slow steps the blonde tentatively trailed behind her mother, unconsciously dipping her head when she passed by her father’s intimidating form near the base of the hospital entrance hall.

Willow carefully placed her stethoscope on the small counter nearby, impulsively turning her head to the left where an oversized transparent glass was positioned, providing a clear view of Tara and her mother form just outside the room.

The redhead stood there in utter silence, quietly watching the scene before her, her eyes soft in concern when she saw a single tear silently slip down the blonde’s soft cheek. Willow knew that Tara was in hurting, she understood the abandonment of a parent all too well and knowing that Tara was going through the same thing she had a few years ago broke her heart, she hated the feeling and she hated that Tara was feeling it as well.

Willow gazed longingly at the outer window, hating herself for not being able to mend the blonde's heart herself.

“What do you want mom?” Tara crossed her arms over her chest, obviously uncomfortable. She took a few steps away from her mother, her arms wrapping around herself in a protective and defensive shield. “Did you come to insult me more, tell me that I’m not allowed at the hospital because...“ Tara couldn’t finish her sentence, she was abruptly cut off when her mother enveloped her into a tight hug, squeezing the life out of her.

"You are welcomed at home anytime of the day." Lila pulled back and gazed into Tara's eyes. "I'm sorry for ever making you believe otherwise."

"Mom, what are you..."

"I never should have thrown you out of the house." Lila shook her head from side to side in regret. "I never should have let your father say what he said to you...I love you Tara, you are welcomed at home whenever you wish." her mother made sure that Tara's eyes were locked into her own, gazing deep. "Anytime."

"You mean it?" Tara managed to ask, her eyes hopeful.

"I mean it." Lila smiled, her hand lifting up to wipe away a stray tear that had fallen out of her daughter's sapphire eyes, gently brushing it away. "I will always love you, Tara." she stated adamantly. "Always."

Willow couldn't help but smile at the scene, shaking her head, she went back to her papers.

Steve looked out with an unreadable expression on his face, but if you looked hard enough you'd see that his eyes were softer. Donnie and Tracy exchanged knowing looks, taking each other's hands, they smiled.

Later that day:

Willow struggled to get her key to cooperate, wriggling the small piece of metal roughly in her hand as she strained to get her doorknob to open. Willow forcefully turned the metal knob with her right hand but to no avail, the door was jammed.

Dawn sat on the comfy couch as she braided her older sister’s hair, shaking her head as she watched Buffy giggle and laugh at the closed door in front of them. Xander was on the other end of the couch reading a comic book , he had decided come to visit when he heard that Willow was going out on a date and finally getting over Sarah, he wanted to see it for himself so here he was. Buffy was still giggling, biting her lip in amusement.

“Frilly heck!” the redhead cursed aloud, swiftly giving up when the oak entryway refused to budge. “Buffy, open the door!” Willow yelled loudly through the thick wood, she pressed her ear to the oak lumber, her face transforming into an angry scowl. “I can hear you giggling, Buffy.” The redhead stated in an irritable tone, not in the mood for her best friend’s many mind games. “I need to get ready for my date with Tara!” she tried again.

“Buffy, can you just let her in?” Xander rolled his eyes, placing his half -read comic book onto the coffee table in front of him. “Willow’s obviously excited about her date, which we should be happy about since it’s NOT with Sarah.” He stresses, his face contorting in a grimace as he thought about Willow’s ex. “God, she was a bitch.”

“A big bitch.” Dawn nodded.

Buffy laughed and walked to the door, unlatching the lock. “Hey, Will.”

“Are you guys having a party?” Willow sighed as she set her house keys at a small coffee table near the entryway; the redhead swiftly threw off her thick jacket and placed it on the small hook behind their oak wood door. "Xander, what are you doing here?" the redhead inquired when she saw her childhood friend sitting on her couch.

“I just wanted to see this for myself.” Xander stood up from his seated position on the sofa, his eyes sparkling. “You’re finally getting over Sarah." Xander walked to Willow’s side and grabbed the redhead into his arms, hugging her tightly. "I'm so proud."

"Sarah is dead to me." Willow hugged him back, embracing him tightly. "I threw away her heads and everything." She grinned, her green eyes gleaming in happiness.

“When’s the date, Will?” Buffy asked, closing the door behind her and sitting back on the couch beside Dawn, letting her younger sister resume her braiding of the hair. “It’s pretty late, already.”

"I just got out." Willow sighed in exhaustion. "I tell you, being a medical student gives you grey hairs, but I'll make it."

“Well, you better hurry and shower.” Buffy playfully shoved her best friend towards the bathroom. “You don’t want to keep Tara waiting, do you?”

Willow's eyes widened at the possibility, fear engulfing her entire body at Buffy's words. "You don't think I'll be late, do you?" the redhead almost shuddered at the mere thought of it. "I'm going to make it, right?"

"It was a joke, Will." Buffy rolled her eyes and chuckled. "You'll make it in no time."

Willow nodded her head and rushed into the shower, swiftly shutting the door behind her.

Tara was busy combing her long blonde hair in front of her mirror; she had just finished getting ready after taking hours and hours of figuring out what to wear. Nearly half of her clothes from her closet were splayed chaotically across her queen-sized bed, most of her clothing she rejected because she didn’t ‘look right’ for the occasion. After brushing her hair for the hundredth time, Tara finally decided that she was ready to leave.

Tara checked her reflection on her mirror just once, gently combing her fingers through her her blonde tresses to make sure everything was in order, that her hair looked okay. Tara smiled to herself just once, happy that she was finally going out and doing something, her eyes sparkling in anticipation for the date. The blonde grabbed her purse and headed out the door, her hand was ready to turn the knob when she remembered something, rushing to the nearby dresser drawer, Tara grabbed a single rose that she had picked out on her way home.

Satisfied, Tara left her apartment.

Willow quickly dressed and was headed to her car; she had showered and gotten in her clothes in lightening speed, faster than she has ever gotten ready in her entire life. Willow looked up into the dark sky and noticed that the clouds above were getting thicker and that the sun was setting fairly rapidly, quicker that it ever has for years.

The redhead pushed that fact aside and smiled giddily in eagerness, anticipating her date with Tara. Willow unlocked her Honda Civic with her silver keys and settled into her plush seat, she turned on the ignition and quietly drove off the parking lot and into the Sunnydale highway, still grinning widely.

Willow continued to drive, a contented and happy smile on her face the entire way. The redhead frowned at the silence of the interior vehicle and made way to turn on her car radio, the beats of Bon Jovi’s Runaway began to sound and Willow was fast on her feet, rocking to the beats and singing along to the lyrics.

She got a few a a pretty long way from her apartment when she noticed that the car was bouncing a little more than it usually did and that the ride wasn’t as smooth as she remembered. Willow frowned in confusion and puzzlement, something was definitely wrong.

“What the frilly heck?” Willow mumbled to herself when her Honda began to bounce up and down, shaky and uneven. “Please goddess, don’t make it what I think it is.” She pleaded to herself, hoping that there was nothing wrong with her car and that she could continue her drive to the restaurant, she had just purchased this civic and it would be intensively weird if something were to go wrong today, on this day no less. She closed her eyes for a moment and brushed it off; hoping to all hope that whatever was causing her car to act the way is was would eventually go away. The redhead drove a several more feet when her car began causing her problems, there was something seriously wrong.

The redhead finally decided to pull over on the side of the road so she could quickly inspect her tires and she immediately realized that her front tire was flat, completely and utterly deflated. “Oh please god, no!” Willow stomped her foot in frustration, checking her watch for the time, she didn’t want to be late. “Why me?” the redhead called out to the heavens, shaking her head. “Why today?!”

Tara reached the restaurant in no time, arriving there earlier than she expected. The blonde got out of her car and headed inside the Cafe, smiling slightly as she fingered the single red rose in her hand. Tara looked up at the sign above her and smiled. She couldn't wait to see Willow.

Willow grabbed her cell phone and quickly called Buffy, not knowing who else to call. "C'mon, Buffy..." The redhead was about to panic big time, her breathing already shallow in fear, she waited a few more rings for her friend to answer the phone. "C'mon..."

"Hello?" Buffy's voice sounded through the reciever.

"Buffy, my tire is flat!" Willow nearly screamed, her hand buried in her hair in panic. "I am completely stranded here when I should be at the cafe with Tara!"

"Willow, calm down."

"Calm, down?!" Willow practically bellowed, her voice shrill and loud. "This is a nightmare come true!" the redhead screamed in frustration. "If I don't make it in time, Tara will think that I stood her up."

"You can change a tire, right?" Buffy's voice was hopeful, even though she was silently hoping that things would go okay for her friend. "If you do that now then you might still be able to make it in time for the date."

Willow let out a sigh and got on her knees, her emerald eyes carefully and cautiously inspecting her tires. Her eyes widened when she realized that there was a deep and jagged gash on on the rubber exterior of the front wheel, a gash that looked like it was made by human hands. "Buffy, it looks like someone slashed my tires." the redhead stated matter of factly. "It's too deep to be something else."

"What?"

"Someone is out to get me!" Willow exclaimed, all paranoia invading her pysche. "And you know the only person it could be."

Buffy's jaw dropped in shock when her first thought came to Sarah. "I should have killed her with that bat when I had the chance!" Buffy chastised herself, pacing the living room in fast and steady strides. "I knew she was bad news but she has taken things WAY too far, she's practically stalking you."

"You know what?" Willow stood up from her knees in determination, a new and adamant resolve invading her body. "She's not going to win this time, I'm going to fix this tire in lightning flash and head off to meet Tara." she stated in a new found detemination. "Sarah isn't going to ruin this for me."

"Um..." Buffy sounded unsure. "Good luck?"

"Bye, Buffy." Willow turned her cell phone off before Buffy could answer her, rushing to the back of her trunk to pull out a wrench and some tools, the redhead stomped to the front wheel and began to work.

Tara quietly sat on the on the table of the cafe, silently and patiently waiting for Willow. The blonde checked her watch periodically to make sure she knew the time. Tara sighed loudly and began playing with several napkins in front of her when more minutes began to pass, she was close to panicking when she started thinking about the worst case scenario, Willow not showing up. The blonde fidgeted in her seat somewhat and decided to give the redhead some time, is she didn't show up soon, she had no choice but to leave. Maybe Willow changed her mind.

Willow finally put in a new tire, with the help of her flashlight and tools, she was already on her way. The redhead got up from her knees and checked her time once more, she was already five minutes late yet she was beaming with dertermination, she was going to get there no matter what.

Willow hopped into the driver's seat and drove away.

Hey, I really enjoyed this update, it was really great! Yes, you were a bit evil leaving it where you did... but I forgive you :p

Ok, I really hate Sarah now- slashing tires? Thats going way too far! But Im starting to feel warmer towards Tara's parents, I thought the flashbacks were very well done, little Tara was so cute, and the scene when Steve threw her out of the house... very emotional.

Well done, Im really looking forward to reading more- right now Im sitting here still on the edge of my seat- will Willow make it in time?!? hehe.

Thanks for such a great update :)

PART TEN (Hurry)

Willow tightly gripped the steering wheel in her hands, skid marks on the grey pavement as she took off in lightening speed. She was completely determined to get to Tara in time that she hadn’t cared if she passed the speeding limit; no one really followed the speeding limit nowadays anyway, right?

Willow stepped harder onto her gas petal and effortlessly passed by another car, over passing them on the highway like a master. The redhead glanced up at the street lights above and saw that the lights were turning yellow, and instead of slowing down like she was supposed to, Willow pounded on her gas pedal once again, this time harder, and narrowly made it passed the beaming red light. She sighed loudly in utter relief when she realized that she made it, she didn’t think she would, and she was glad that she did.

The redhead briefly glanced at her watch after her relieved breath was finally exhaled; looking down at her Mickey Mouse wrist band she realized that the minute hand and the second hand were still, unmoving in all respect.

She sighed in frustration, ripping off the watch from her wrist and throwing it on the passenger seat, she then tilted her head to her right and checked the time on her car baseboard, she was already late but she still had ample time to get there and catch Tara before she left if she sustained her high speed, the café wasn’t that far away from where she was and the traffic seemed to flow fairly quickly, unusual for this time period but great news for her.

The redhead let out another breath when an automobile in front of her seemed to stall, he or she was driving by so slowly that Willow had begun to wonder if anyone was even behind the wheel, anyone with a brain that is.

The one thing she hated was people who drove way to slow for the speed limit, it was worse than speeding since speeding had its advantages, people needed to get to their destination and driving fast was a necessity. But slow and sluggish drivers needed to be ripped off the street, and ripped off quickly. If they wanted to drive that slowly, they should just move on foot and be done with it. Willow didn’t need this right now and Tara was waiting for her, all she could see was the blonde.

“I can’t believe this!” Willow cursed to herself when the car in front of her continued its painstaking slow speed, she took a quick glimpse to the other lanes beside her and waited for the pristine moment to change positions, if she stayed on this lane she wouldn’t make it in time and Tara would think that she had stood her up, it was the last thing that she wanted the blonde to think.

The only thing she could think of was that she hadn’t been out on a date since Sarah and she was really looking forward to this meeting, she and Tara seemed to have some sort of connection and the redhead want to see what else they had in common, she had felt a few sparks that first day her crimson eyes met with blue and that along with her promise made her want Tara even more.

Willow stuck her head out from her opened window and glanced back, seeing that she had some space to change lanes, the redhead was on her way.

She got a pretty long distance from where she was, passing by cars like they were tiny snails and she was a bouncing wild rabbit in search for the missing rat, she was pushing the highest speed limit possible when she noticed some blue and red lights gleaming brightly from the inside of her car. She narrowed her eyes and took a peek of her rear view mirror, a police car was behind her, no sirens but the lights spoke more than any siren would.

She was busted.

“This is a nightmare come true!” Willow threw her hands into the air in incredulity, she was tempted to keep on going and drive to Tara anyway—cops be damned—but that was entirely and utterly unfeasible, a high speed chase would result and without a doubt would lead to further lateness, not to mention some jail time.

There would be a lot of women there, she knew, but it wouldn’t be the same kind of women.

“If only Tara were a jailhouse security guard. “ the redhead sighed to herself as she pulled over to her right, leaning into her glove compartment for her car registration and other stuff Buffy reminded her to bring along.

Willow watched as the woman cop tottered slowly towards her and her car, the redhead gulped in uneasiness as she held onto her registration, frantically digging into her purse in search for her driver’s license, she had hoped that she didn’t leave it at home because she knew that driving without a valid license was against the law, she may not need a high speed chase to get into jail in the first place.

The almost frenzied redhead haphazardly dumped her purse and its contents onto the passenger seat and began scanning through all her stuff, finally finding her license in the nick of time. “Thank the goddess.” Willow let out an appreciative breath, pressing the small card onto her chest in a tender fashion, her eyes closed.

“Thank the goddess, huh?” The policewoman smirked, shaking her head in amusement as she lifted her dark colored shades off her eyes. “License and registration, ma’am?” her hazel orbs met anxious green, the woman officer leaned against the car and waited patently for her for the girl in the car to hand over the needed papers.

“Oh… yes.” Willow managed to utter, handing the other woman her driver’s license and registration along with a few other stuff that she hadn’t asked for, dumping it all into the cop’s hands in a messy heap, her rushed mind and edgy psyche hadn’t allowed her to handle things in a composed manner, thus the clumsiness.

The officer cleared her throat.

“I know I was speeding but I just—” she couldn’t finish her sentence; she hadn’t the opportunity to when the police officer in front of her interjected.

“Do you know how fast you were going, ma’am?” The officer questioned evenly as hey eyes quickly scanned the redhead’s license, her eyes narrowing.

“Yes…I was…” The redhead stumbled, her fingers playing with each other on her lap.

“You were pushing 70 on a 45 mile per hour highway path.” The cop finished for Willow, handing the redhead her registration but not her license. “You could thank the goddess all you want but I’m going to have to give you a ticket.” She stated plainly, her eyes holding no sign of compassion.

"I understand but I was just..."

“And you may want to ask that goddess for your thank you back because there’s something awfully suspicious with your license here." the other woman continued. "I’m going to have to send the number in to assure that this is valid and actually yours, which may take awhile.”

“That’s MY license!” Willow insisted, her voice rising in a high pitch and growing impatience. “I don’t know what you’re talking about but that is me…I’m Willow!”

“Willow...” the other woman began to say, leaning into the car and showing her the small card in her hands. “If that is your real name…this picture you have here looks nothing like you, I’ve had a lot of people try to fool me with these fake cards that I can’t even keep track, you’re just another one adding to the list.”

“Look, officer…” Willow shook her head and dug into the messy pile on her passenger seat, looking for her identification card. “I’m already late as it is and I REALLY need to get to where I’m going, I don’t know why you don’t think that’s me, but it is.” She maintained, her voice fill with adamancy. “Here’s my I.D., you could check the birthdates and number if you want, they’ll be the same. “She affirmed matter of factly, standing her ground. “My hair color is different because I dyed it that day and I’m looking kind of gruffy but…”

“Mm hmm…” the officer nodded, scanning through her Identification card, comparing both cards, her brow furrowed as she held them side by side. “I’m sorry, Willow…my mistake.” She corrected, handing the redhead her stuff and digging into her back pocket for her notepad. “Let me just write you this ticket and let you get on your way.”

“Please hurry.” Willow pleaded, her eyes losing all hope as she took a quick glimpse of her clock, she was definitely late now and she hated that she was, if she ever saw Sarah again she’d be forced to strangle her, again and again until she passed out, hopefully forever. “I’m late for a date and If I don’t show up she’s going to think that I stood her up and I REALLY don’t want that to happen, she’s amazing and I want her to—“

“All finished.” The police officer smiled, handing the small note of paper to the redhead. “Make sure to pay it in time or they’ll charge you additional.”

“Yes…I was…” Willow started to say but swallowed her words, nodding her head absently. “I will.”

“Late for a date, huh?” the other woman nodded her head in understanding, tapping her fingers on the base upper part of the redhead’s Honda Civic. “You go on ahead and I hope for the best, but no speeding okay?”

“Okay.” Willow nodded her head again. “No speeding.”

The other woman chuckled a bit before leaving. “God, I love my job.” She mumbled to herself, shaking her head.

Willow sighed in relief, happy that the moment was over and that she was off the hook, she wasted precious minutes with that damned police officer chick but if she maintained her speed up to this point she might still have a chance to make it, the window of opportunity was there and she wanted to take it.

She settled into her seat and straightened herself, composing herself enough to begin her drive to the café; she needed to see Tara and she needed to see her now. Sarah went too far and she was sure that her dark haired ex-girlfriend was going to get what she deserved, she was certain that Buffy and her bat would make sure of it.

The redhead grabbed her cell phone began dialing, all the while steering the wheel of her car, she waited for the police officer to turn the other direction before she sped up again, desperate times made for desperate measures, and this was a desperate time.

“Buffy?” she asked through the receiver, her other hand gripping the steering wheel in front of her as securely as possible, trying to dodge past even more cars, the ticket wasn’t a lesson, it was part of the ride and she was ready for another one if that was what were to happen, she’s do almost anything to get to Tara, her resolve face always shone through and that was partly because of Sarah and her unwillingness to move the hell on.

“Willow, did you meet Tara yet?” Buffy asked from the other line, balancing the phone receiver on her shoulder as Dawn and Xander listened on.

“No, I’m still on the road!” Willow exclaimed, steering to the right sharply as she neared another turn, she was a fantastic driver so that wouldn’t be a problem, but she was already late as it is and she was seriously doubting that Tara would still be waiting for her. “I was pulled over by a cop for speeding!”

Buffy shook her head, shocked. “You’re really having a bad day, huh?”

“Like you wouldn’t believe, this is the worst day ever!” the redhead continued over the phone, darting across the highway as fast as she could. “I’m going to kill Sarah and throw her body in the river so no one can find her, that’s what I’m going to do.”

“Willow…” Buffy chuckled, shaking her head once more. “You don’t mean that.”

“The frilly heck I do!” Willow nearly shouted over the phone, continued her driving across the grey pathways. “She’s gone too far, Buffy.”

“Then let me do it.” Buffy suggested quickly, gripping the phone in her hands. “I’ve always wanted to use my bat and Sarah’s head is so perfectly shaped like a baseball.”

“We can kill her together.” Willow was serious, she was so distressed and upset at the whole situation that she’d say anything and planning on actually murdering someone was one of those things.

"Willow, what are you..."

“And it doesn’t matter if we go to jail because it would be so worth it and think about the advantages— people don’t really think about this—you get free food, you don’t have to pay rent, the food trays come to you, and we could ban together and form a group.” The redhead’s eyes lit up as she thought of something. “We could call ourselves the scoobies!”

“Okay, Will…deep breath.” Buffy tried to calm her friend down, she knew Willow didn’t mean it but hearing it some from the redhead’s mouth made it all too real. “You’ll make it there in the nick of time and you’ll meet Tara…I promise you.”

“I’m NOT going to make it.” Willow was almost in tears, the warms liquid falling out of her eyelids as she continued driving, all hope flew out the window when another red light came into effect, delaying her even further, she slammed her hands onto her steering wheel roughly as she was forced to stop. “I should have left earlier, Buffy.”

“Willow…” Buffy sighed, not knowing what to say to make her best friend feel remotely better; she wasn’t too great with words. “I don’t know what to say but the only thing I can tell you is…”

“What?” the redhead asked, utterly and wholly defeated. “What can you say to make things better?”

“I can say good luck.” Buffy stated softly, her voice filled with the utmost sincerity. “And I hope you make it.”

“Thanks Buffy and I hope I make it too.” Willow managed to whisper before hanging up; she tossed her cell phone in the seat beside her and continued on her way. The redhead noticed that the rain was starting up again, small droplets of water falling from the sky lightly as it hit the glass of her windshield, she knew that rain always resulted in traffic and she was more than ever determined to reach Tara in time, she’d do anything to reach her destination, even if it meant speeding in the rain.

*****

Tara fiddled with the red rose in her hand, taking quick peeks of the large clear glass in front of her just in case Willow showed up.

The redhead was already late and she was feeling increasingly uncomfortable sitting alone in a restaurant where everyone was sitting in pairs, people kept giving her weird looks and all Tara could do was try to ignore them. She was so close to leaving but she really didn’t have anyplace to go and a part of her was telling her to wait, that Willow wouldn’t really stand her up, if anything, she was probably in traffic.

The blonde let out a deep breath as she took a sip of water that a waiter had given her, her finger trailing over the glass as she stared at the clear liquid inside, trying to distract herself as she continued to wait for her redheaded beauty, she’d wait forever for Willow and that was exactly what she was going to do, fifteen minutes, an hour, none of it mattered.

The same waiter who had given Tara the glass of water came through again, a sympathetic and compassionate look on his face as he neared the sad blonde. “You still waiting, huh?” the young man asked as he came around Tara and began filling up her glass once again.

Tara just nodded her head, looking up briefly with sad eyes.

“He’s probably in traffic.” The young man shrugged as he balanced a tray in his other hand, his brown eyes meeting with Tara’s blue. “No one in his right mind would ever stand you up.” He said before leaving, giving the blonde as small smile of assurance. “No one.”

Tara nodded her head but said nothing, her hands still playing with the single red rose in her hand.

A dark haired girl went into the entrance of the restaurant, scanning the small space hastily before heading directly to Tara, the blonde noticed this and lifted her head.

“Tara, right?” Sarah questioned the other woman, her eyebrows raised in query. “You’re meeting Willow here?”

“Yes.” Tara stated hesitantly.

“I'M with Willow.” Sarah sat in front of the blonde and shook her head disapprovingly, acting as if Willow had lead Tara on and that they were still together, she seemed to play the part really well. “So it’s best that you leave before you cause anymore trouble between us.”

Tara seemed confused, she wasn’t expecting this. “You’re with Willow?” the blonde asked slowly.

Sarah just nodded her head, a small evil smile gracing her face in an instant, but Tara hadn't noticed, she was busy looking down at her hands.

Tara's hand unexpectedly dropped the rose onto the table in front of her in a soft thump when realization slowly set in, her deep orbs began shimmering with a thin sheen of warm tears. “But Willow was the one that asked me to come here and—"

“She lied.” Sarah stated simply, her eyes hard. “Willow loves me.” she clenched her jaw. "Willow loves me and she doesn't love you and I think you should go."

*****

Willow finally pulled into the parking lot of the café, she was late but at least she made it. The redhead grabbed her purse and hurriedly began stocking all her spilled items back into her bag, making sure to grab her wallet so she could pay for the food inside. She wanted to buy Tara the biggest and most expensive meal to make up for her lateness, maybe even the most luxurious and costly bottle of wine in addition to everything else, none of it matter though, if Tara wasn’t there.

The redhead made sure that everything was in order before shutting closed her car door, it was sprinkling outside but she hadn’t cared, she needed to get to Tara and a little bit of rain wouldn’t and couldn’t phase her.

Willow ran from her car and towards the entrance of the café, the distance was pretty far because parking was very limited and the last available spot was the farthest away, but even that was no match for her, she ran as fast as she could, almost tripping flat on her face when she slipped on a large rock on the solid ground. Fumbling slightly, she continued on her way.

Willow’s purse hung on hand loosely as she continued her fast steps, her red hair swaying in the wind the faster and faster she ran. The redhead had the most determined look on her face, the most unbeatable, unbreakable, and adamant resolve face, no one was going to mess with her, not when it meant her meeting Tara for THEIR date.

The redhead's breath sped up rapidly when she finally reached the café, she swung the door open and rushed inside, immediately being graced with her ex-girlfriend who was sitting on the spot that Tara had once been, holding the same single red rose that Tara had brought for Willow, the blonde was nowhere to be seen.

“Sarah, what the hell are you doing here?” Willow asked her ex-girlfriend, her emerald eyes narrowing in distrust and anger. “Where’s Tara?” she asked after a moment, she knew that Sarah would do anything to get back with her and that included driving Tara away. "I have a feeling you know about her otherwise you wouldn't have slashed my tires and you wouldn't be here."

“I got you a rose.” Sarah smiled, holding up the red flower to the redhead. “You like it?”

“Where is Tara?” Willow demanded, her eyes narrowed in fury, her hands clenched in a ball. "What the frilly heck did you say to her?"

"I just told her to get lost." Sarah smiled, her fingers playing with the stem of the rose in her hand. "We belong together Willow, you know that."

Willow gave the brunette a hateful look before rushing out the door, hoping to see Tara on the other side, just in time to catch her before she left completely. Her hands reached the glass door of the exit hall as she pulled the door open, her eyes immediatley catching the sight of the blonde several feet in front of her. Sarah hurried after her, right behind the redhead without a second thought.

"Tara!" Willow called out, trying to get the blonde to stop. “Tara, please I’m sorry I was….” Before she had anything else to say Sarah grabbed Willow in a fast and forceful kiss, clutching the redhead’s neck tightly.

Tara turned her head just in time to see this and continued her walking, she didn’t know where she was going but she needed to be alone and away, her eyes filled with tears when she realized that the girl hadn’t been lying, Willow was taken.

“What the hell are you doing, Sarah?” Willow demanded angrily, wiping her mouth in distaste, roughly pushing Sarah off and away from her, she didn't want to be anywhere near her. "Why did you do that?"

“I wanted to show you what you were missing.” Sarah stated matter of factly, stepping closer to the redhead. “Don’t tell me that you didn’t feel anything, that you don't want me after all these months, that you don't think of me.”

Willow gave Sarah another hateful look before heading back to Tara, running even faster to the retreating form of the blonde several feet ahead of her. "Tara, wait!"

Tara shook her head and continued walking, she wasn't going to stop for anyone. Willow had just kissed that girl and that was proof enough, she didn't want to get involved with someone who was already taken, the didn't want to be the other woman.

"Tara!" Willow kept on, not wanting to give up on the blonde, she wasn't going to let this woman leave her, she wasn't ever going to let her go. "Tara, I can explain everything to you, just please stop!"

Sarah rushed to Willow's side and placed her hand on her shoulder, tugging her ex-girlfriend away from the blonde. "Willow, I know you love me." the other woman stated adamantly, her face hard in detrmination. "And I also know that this Tara girl is only a rebound to get back at me but..."

Willow groaned in frustration just once before swiftly punching Sarah square in the face, knocking her down in an instant. "I didn't want to do that, Sarah." the redhead stated as she stared down at her ex-girlfriend who was now sprawled on the groundfloor, her nose bleeding a bit at the redhead's force. "But you left me no choice."

Sarah sat on the ground in disbelief, her hand holding her jaw.

"Tara!" Willow rushed to Tara without a moments glance, the redhead placed a tender hand on the blonde's shoulder and gently pulled the blonde towards her, wanting to look deeply into sapphire depths. Tara turned slowly and met the eyes of emerald green, her tears shimmering brightly under the luminous street lights above. Tara gazed into the redhead's green eyes, the unmistakable pain behind them was evident, it made Willow's heart ache at the thought that she was the cause of it.

"Tara..."

The blonde continued to look at Willow, not being able to look away no matter how much she wanted to.

"Tara, I have to tell you..." Willow managed to utter, before being interuptted by the woman in front of her, this beautiful woman in front of her. "I have to tell you that..."

"I understand, Willow." Tara shook her head in understanding, even though it was killing her to say the words she knew she had to say, her azure orbs eyes locking with Willow's deep crimson depths, tears shimmering slightly. "You have to be with the person you love." she uttered out, pulling away from the redhead when she declared those nine words. "You have to be with the person you love and I have to respect that."

"I am." Willow declared adamantly as she pulled Tara by the shoulders. "If you'll let me."she added quietly. "Please tell me that you'll let me."

A beat.

"What about..."

"She isn't my girlfriend." Willow shook her head from side to side. "She's an obsessive ex that wanted to split us up, I'm not with her, Tara and I want to be with you, tell me you want to be with me." she pleaded soflty. "Please tell me that you do."

A beat.

"I do." Tara's managed to say after the longest and most painstaking silence imaginable, a newfound happiness engulfing her entire body as suddenly as ever, it scared her but made her relish in the feel of it at the same time. "If you'll let me." the blonde added after a moment, her finger tracing the redhead's upper lip affectionately.

Willow beamed brightly as she moved her slender arms to wrap even tighter around Tara, lifting the blonde off the ground and spinning her into the air, the small droplets of rain continued to pour but it hadn't mattered. The redhead grabbed Tara in a kiss, her lips meeting the blonde in a passionate embrace, kissing her feverishly. "I'm not with Sarah, I want to be with you."

"I want to be with you too." Tara said before kissing Willow once more, a quick kiss that Willow soon followed with a deeper one. The rain intensified and the two women, redhead and blonde, continued in their kiss...the rain be damned and Sarah be damned as well.

Only a Matter of Time

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for the feeback everyone, you know who you are. I'll thank you guys individually later on, I promise. This next update is kind of shorter than I usually go for and there's not much story in it and I don't even know why I posted it but I felt like writing some sap. The next update will be WAY better and longer, I promise. :) Thanks again!
PART ELEVEN (Before the Date)
The frosty raindrops from the darkened sky fell onto the two girls in ever-increasing speed; the fact that both of them were getting wetter by the second didn’t seem to faze them in the slightest. Willow’s mouth met those of Tara over and over, light and sensual kisses that conveyed more emotion and sentiment than any words could ever express.
It didn’t matter that they that didn’t know each other, it didn’t matter that they had kissed like they were a couple long before any first date, it didn’t matter that they seemed to be taking things way too fast and way too quickly, their hearts knew each other and that’s all that really mattered, and that’s all that really mattered evermore.
“I’m so sorry I was late.” Willow gently brushed away a few stray strands of dark blonde hair from Tara’s face, affectionately tucking the golden locks behind the other woman’s ear.
Tara just stared at her back, she couldn’t look away.
“Can you forgive me?” the redhead’s emerald eyes pleaded slightly, puppy dog eyes and lips that would make any person cave. “There were some unexpected circumstances that were out of my control.” She stated softly, glancing down at their joined hands briefly. “I know that I should have left earlier.”
Tara looked at Willow, gazing deep into sea green depths, the same depths she knew she fell in love with the first time she saw her, the first time her own sapphire eyes met with the redhead olive spheres. Eyes were the windows to the soul and their souls were love at first sight, pounding heartbeats, sweaty palms, ragged breaths, and everything else in between.
It was all there and they knew in their hearts that there was something else between them, something that they needed and wanted to chase, for the rest of the time they had together and the rest of the days following this moment right now, they were going to do just that, insecurities would come into effect, but none that wasn't escapable.
People only lived once in this lifetime and there was no ostensible point to hold back in something that felt so right for the both of them, this moment in their hearts, this moment now.
This moment forever.
“As long as you’re here now.” Tara acknowledged in a whisper, her right hand lifting in the air as her fingers began a light trail across the redhead’s soft cheek, her face shining in a thin sheen of liquid water from the rain that was falling on them both, the bright stars in the sky shimmered vibrantly and the street light above them provided the clear and vivid spotlight that shone down like ever wanting limelight.
Everyone who was around them had a clear view of the two girls who were obviously infatuated with each other, two smitten kittens who were all too unaware that their lives were to have been forever changed, for the better.
Willow just nodded, her body shivering at the blonde's touch.
“I didn’t think you’d show up and then that girl came in and…” Tara shook her head slightly from the memories, her blonde hair falling across her shoulders. “She said that you were in love with her, which is okay because we’re only…”
“We’re only what?” Willow dipped her head and tried to catch the other woman’s downcast eyes, her hands moving instinctively to the blonde’s firm shoulders as she steadily held on, dipping her head even more in expectation. “What are we Tara?” she questioned softly. “What can we be in the future, what are we right now?”
“What are we doing in the rain?” Tara subtly dodged the redhead’s question, her head turning away a bit to disengage her hold of those shining and luminous green orbs. “We’re getting all wet.” She stated in a matter of fact filled voice as she began pulling the redhead by the elbow, leading them away from the street walkway and under the heartening haven of cover.
The redhead followed Tara close behind, mentally noting Tara’s avoidance of her query.
“Tara, you didn’t answer me.” Willow went back to her questioning; her voice still soft in tone as she made sure that the blonde didn’t think that she was pushing the matter, that there was any matter to push. “You said that you’d let me…that you’d let me….” Willow stumbled slightly as she tried to think of why she had said what she said, why her brain hadn’t registered what her mouth had already given out, what she was thinking when she had whispered those words to Tara, what did those utterance of terms really meant.
Tara felt herself swallowing her words.
“That you’d let me love you.” The redhead finally voiced out, her eyes still staring intensely into cobalt depths. “I don’t know what that means for us right now since we’ve only really known each other for such a short time but—.”
“I don’t know what that means either.” Tara stepped back shook her head, her wet hair swaying from left to right as diminutive droplets of rainfall splayed away from her golden blonde tresses, her long hair light like soft and silky mane. “I don’t know what any of this means.”
Tara motioned around her, staring at their surroundings, watching as the redhead did the same.
“I’ve never ever felt this way….about anyone…about anything….” The blonde stated speedily, not knowing how to approach the situation on hand, not knowing how to handle her overwhelming feelings. “I don’t know what to feel…I don’t know what to call what we are…how to describe...”
“Tara…” Willow took a small step closer to the blonde, her steps undersized and measured but all the more filed with a deep sense of willingness, the willingness to comfort and hold the other woman when she noticed how uncertain she was, the sudden feeling that engulfed her after realization finally hit. “Tara, I don’t know what to—“
“We kissed each other in the rain, in the middle of the street and we don’t even know each other!” Tara breathed out her words, her brain dashing a mile a minute as she realized what had just happened, the moment coming to her like flashes of a music video, the spark sending a stab of awareness to shroud her mind in a moment of instantaneous flash. She wasn’t raising her voice in anger; she was raising her voice in amazement and wonder if not a small tinge of insecurity embedded inside.
What did she do to deserve this kind of feeling?
What in the world?
Willow couldn't say anything, she didn't know what to say.
“That only happens in the movies.” Tara managed to say as an afterthought.
“The whole world is a movie, Tara.” Willow took another step closer, her hand wanting to hold the other woman’s palm into hers, wanting to feel the warmth of their fingertips pressing against each other in a firm and unyielding hold, the warmth always made her heart melt in ways she has never experienced before, the clear indication that this blonde in front of her was somebody else. “We’re just actors without any scripts, in charge of our own lives, directing our destiny.”
“I’m overwhelmed.” Tara admitted as she shook her head slowly from side to side, her eyes shimmering with want and widening with amazement, amazement that this redhead in front of her was still there, that she wasn’t an illusion that would eventually fade away, that she was still there in flesh and blood and right in front of her.
That it was true.
“Seeing you, being around you, even smelling the scent of your hair…it makes me want you more; it makes all the goose bumps around me…” Tara trailed off even as she unconsciously took a step closer to the redhead. “I don’t know what to do with that, I don’t know what to think of that, I don’t know why it’s happening now.”
“Tara…” Willow tried again, taking yet another step closer to the blonde. “Tara…I…”
“I just want to kiss you again.” Tara stated suddenly, not being able to control herself and her impending feelings for much longer.
Willow stared at her in surprise, her mouth opening slightly.
“That’s what I want to do right now." Tara stated matter of factly. "I want to grab you and kiss you and take you right against that wall." The blonde quickly spun around and found herself pointing at the hefty partition just behind them.
Willow gulped aloud, her mouth managing to close unconsciously; Tara's words were too much, too much for anyone.
“It’s SO not me, and it’s SO not something that I ever thought I’d want to do, but you are just….you are just…” Tara staggered with her words, struggling to say what her heart had force her to reveal. “I want you to…” the blonde shook her head and silently chastised herself when she couldn't let out her words. "I NEED you to..."
Suddenly, without a second thought, without a second glance, without a moments hesitation, Willow gently shoved Tara backwards and pressed the blonde’s back against the firm and solid wall behind her, her hands pushing at the other woman’s shoulder as if she was possessed by someone inside her, her rising libido and her aching and pounding heart, along with Tara’s words, forced her to do what she had just a moment ago done.
A bold and fearless move.
A move that Willow would never have thought would ever come from her, the redhead’s face was mere millimeters away from Tara’s, their mouths close together.
Too close.
So close.
They shared the same breath, they shared the same air, they were connected long before they even touched each other’s warm and supple skin. The beating of their hearts were so loud against their chest that it felt and sounded like the drum beats of their soul, the same beat and rhythm for the both of them.
“I…I'm…” Tara was still stumbling, audibly gulping when she saw that Willow was pinning her to the wall, the way she wanted to pin Willow. “What are you doing?” she managed to utter, her mouth open slightly in quiet anticipation. “I was supposed to…” Tara let out a deep intake of breath, the oxygen in her slightly shallow. “I wanted to tell you…”
“Don’t say anything.” Willow slowly shook her head, their faces sheer centimeters apart, both women breathing heavily in desire and want, yearning and craving for something that only they themselves could satisfy for each other, their bodies, their hearts, their souls and their every being screamed for it . “Don’t say a word.” The redhead whispered, her voice low and breathy as her eyes delved profoundly into azure depths, Willow softly traced Tara’s lips with a single fingertip before plunging in and kissing the blonde deeply.
All time seemed to stop.
The passionate kiss was one that felt more bare, more expressive, more meaningful this time than it was just a few moments ago, even though that moment ago was still more passionate than anything she has ever experienced up until that point, more desire, more worship, more adoration for everything and anything.
More of everything.
Their kiss lasted for several more passionate seconds before Willow finally pulled back, her fingers reaching up to faintly touch her upper lip, as if she was feeling the spot that Tara had just touched with her own plush and tender skin, the skin that brought gooseflesh throughout her body, cool and chilly bumps that shivered across her every being and her every soul and her every consciousness.
“What did you do that for?” Tara managed to ask without her voice breaking too much from the shock of it all, the surprise inside her that longed and craved for this very moment, a moment in time that she had never envisioned coming true, she went from her heart breaking with envy when she had thought that the redhead had been taken to kissing the same redhead again and again and again once more, none of it felt out of place. “I was supposed to be the one who did that.”
“Take-charge Willow.” The redhead smiled devilishly, biting her lower lip lightly as she moved her face even closer to the blonde in front of her for another breathtaking kiss. “Did that feel right, did that answer any of our questions?”
Tara nearly moaned when she saw the redhead in front of her bite her lower lip, white teeth gently nibbling onto soft and supple flesh. "Willow, you are just...you are..."
Willow smiled at the speechlessness of the blonde, Tara couldn't seem to make out any words and her words seemed to jumble even more after they kisses. Lips against lips, mouth against mouth, heart against heart.
"You are amazing." Tara finally got herself to say the much needed words to the woman in front of her, needing to say what her heart had always been telling her. "And I don't just mean the kiss."
Willow chuckled a bit and brought her face closer, leaning her chin and cheek against the blonde's soft neck, snuggling closer. Tara let out a desire-filled sigh before pulling the redhead closer, her hands tugging her more firmly into the embrace.
"Do you want to go on our date now?" Tara asked after a moment, her hands still securely holding onto the woman in her arms. The blonde almost fainted when she felt Willow's warms breath across her plush neck. "After we...after we..." she trailed off and swiftly grabbed the redhead in another kiss, quick but passionate.
"I do." Willow smiled when they pulled back. "But I really don't see why we need it."
You should also know that your story made me cry. I don't know if that's a good thing but it did. I got pissed when Sarah lied to Tara and kissed Willow, I laughed triumphantly when Willow punched the evil bitch but I cried like a baby when Willow and Tara kissed in the rain and had their little discussion. Their love is so powerful and you write so beautifully that I just get so caught up in the story that one minute I'm laughing and the next I'm crying. I'm pretty sure that's a sign of a great story and writer. I'll be patiently awaiting the next update but hoping that Sarah receives more than a punch in the face.
I also loved Buffy's quote:
