Errrm... true Willow never took the challenge herself but I figured she DID shed her part of the mantle at the same time Tara did (unless she had a seriously upset stomach for another reason :) ). Could be she only felt Tara's pain I suppose, never thought about that one. Still.. it's been over 10 years since that event, something would have shown.

If only a happy few know that Brianna is the (inactive) Imbolc Mage why do they protect her that much ? From reading the UC epilogue I figured all the Guard (or at least the Imbolc Guard) knew.

P.S. Kinda scary that I can actually type the word 'Imbolc' without too much trouble now...:D

P.P.S. Does your fic "Second Chances" even have a thread on Pens ? It should have if you ask me, I liked it :)

Wow Lisa, each and every chapter I read makes me fall more in love with this fic. If I was told I could only read fanfic by one author for the rest of my life, it would definately be yours. I hope whatever is making Tara all moody is found out soon.

Poor Bre, I hope she'll be ok and that Dawn'll take care of her. So is little Dawnie still as fond of Lacrosse as she used to be? We might need to find out soon. :lol

Keepers = bad people but still, not good to have to kill them, so overall Dawn needs to come back to help Bre deal with this.

I hope Brent figures out what's wrong with Tara soon. I wonder if Tara is getting some darkness from her mage powers and since she did not use to have any she just does not know how to control it?

Still not a big fan of Sheila, although it was good of her to start being a little more supportive of Willow and Tara.

Fun update as always. Good luck with school and everything.

Was wondering..

Postby Grimlock72 » Tue Oct 08, 2002 4:13 am

wondering about a couple of things actually:

- Since the guardians have upgraded their weapons, shouldn't they also upgrade their vests ? (kevlar would be nice)

- does the 3-fold rule work on killing those two junior-keepers (keeper servants more likely) ?

- what was Brigan thinking when encountering those men anyway ? She sure as heck didn't want to chase them away, then cutting of the older man's hand... sort of invalidates any self-defense claim really. It's not nice she forced Bre into a situation where she had to kill two people either. Brigan kinda reminds me of Buffy, heh... bit too impulsive.

Ah well... only a few hours till the next update, which most likely will go into an entirely different directions then all those I've thought of :-) Lisa tends to do that :D .

Yes I got very excited on a tuesday! I have not don't that in so long!

Is it because of Buffy? FUCK NO! IT is because we get an update tonight! Yeah.

About the keeper's agents. They were warned to stay away, coming that close to the grounds was reason enough. Remember the DotF are fairly draconic in their execution of their laws.

Still lots of things going on here.

I think if it got out that Willow shared the mantle of Brigit, the Guardians would treat her completely different. Besides, I don't see Willow wanting that kind of attention right now. In the Lisaverse Willow has tried to keep her own magic under control, this would be a constant reminder to her that she once wielded god-like powers.

Now of course it is Tara that seems to be slipping out of control. I don't think a gentle soul like hers was meant to harness that much power.

I loved the part Bre verbalizes that dawn is gonna kill her for getting injured...very emotional for Bre.

Brent terrified and pissed. Very very very bad.

I agree with Warlock, the Guardians did warn the Witches Council not to come anywhere near Tara. Draconic...yup!

Can't wait to see Kaley get her ass kicked!!!! There has to be some sort of gauntlet Willow can use....issue some Red Willow Smackdown!

Lisa, thanks for thinking of the fans. (Joss must have given it up for Lent)

Look forward to tonights update.

We are getting an update tonight, right? Cause I’m like here on the East Coast and Gilmore Girls will be over soon and then I’ll just be sitting here thinking about how I’m not watching Buffy anymore and then I’ll get all depressed and I’ll be wondering if we’re going to find out how Willow wups Kaley’s butt and…well, you get the idea.

Course everyone is going to be mad cause I bumped this thread and they'll think it's an update when it's not and...well, I'm done now.

Update or should I go to bed? :D

Chapter 13...finally!

Postby Lisa of Nine » Wed Oct 09, 2002 12:09 am

I am so sorry!

Enjoy,

Sorry it's late!

:party Whoo and hoo! update. yay! Don't be sorry Lisa...it's all good. Just 'cus we all have nothing better to but read fanfic all day...the fic-addicted kitten can go on very little or no sleep...Thanks for gracing us with your wonderful stories in the first place. Get some rest hon.

Good to see that Bre will be ok. Dawn wiggin out....I can understand her being upset with Tara...kinda expected that...but yeah...calm down!

Poor Wills. Interested to see her reaction to being a mage and having to utilize her powers. Brent's and Tara's overprotectiveness of Willow and treating her like a child comes back into play, with their sheltering her leading to possible terrifying consequences. Time for Wicca bootcamp for Willow, methinks...build up some good magic muscles...learn to control her powers...yes?

Great update as always, Lisa. :) Sorry if I don't make sense...half asleep myself here...

Thank you Lisa, you're so very good to us Kittens!

The mage-o-pause? That was funny. Gotta love Aunt Fluffy's words.

Poor Dawnie, after having had such a rough time at work to get the news about Bre. The fact that she is so critical of Tara's actions shows how deep her feelings for Bre are. It'll be interesting when she realises this for herself.

Glad Cassie could see that Tara's aura was even more powerful than Emily's, that led Emily to figuring out why Tara's mage power is off kilter. She's taken on Willow's share too.

Brilliant. Thanks again.

"So, Willow hasn’t been casting, hasn’t been keeping up her little magical muscles… except when the two of you share the most intense type of casting there is." Emily folded her arms over her chest. "And I’m betting that’s rather frequently?"

Tara blushed even though her eyes remained full of rage and flame.

I loved that so much. So typically Tara, no matter how powerful, mage-like and full of anger she is, she'll still blush at the thought of Willow and sex. *sigh* It was so funny!

I really liked how Dawn was dealing with the death of a patient when she had to cope with Bre's getting shot. And finalllly someone is realising that Dawn doesn't have 'platonic' feelings for her, that it's more than that. It took them long enough! Hehe

It was a wonderful Willow and Tara scene: Will only caring about protecting/comforting Tara, and 'putting off' the anger for another time. That was really sweet, and you wrote her emotions well. Oh, and you gotta love Emily. She's a great character. Finally, I thought it was interesting how Dawn reacted to Cassie's leaving to check on Tara. You managed to make a relatively anti-Tara moment (eek!) very understandable, and I didn't hate Dawn. :shock

Thanks for the great update, Lisa :D

Sorry abiut RL getting in the way of your posting, but it was well worth it. :clap

I had a feeling Willow was gonna end up with mage powers, I also have a funny feeling things are gonna get very interesting!

So glad Bre will be OK, and just how long will Dawn wait to reveal her true feelings?

Re: Chapter 13...finally!

Postby Grimlock72 » Wed Oct 09, 2002 4:11 am

Yeah...update :bounce

Even though I've read all UC several times I still don't see much difference between beeing a White Mage and a Black Mage (to keep it simple), both need to be controlled. Both can destroy the bed after all, I kinda doubt Tara kindly asked the godess to do that for her, heh :)

Emilly's mean-streak is annoying, best way to handle it is to walk out on her. That kind of people usually wants to share the information they have anyway.

Other then that, Tara and Willow can now train together... how neat :D . Only odd thing about Willow being a mage is that it should have triggered by now when she wanted to go rescue/get Tara..(i.e. when she glared at Emily and Anya said she recognized that stare). Or does Tara carry Willow's mage powers as well ?? If so, whats the direct problem ? Tara can handle those powers (just), Willow likely can't handle them at all at the moment...If Tara just keeps on handling it for them both until Willow's up to speed on magic-practice all will be fine. (a bit like setting up a lightning-rod :) ).

Several interesing conversations/talks coming up (and I want to read 'm all, heh); Willow/Tara, Bre/Dawn, Tara/Dawn/Bre, Tara/Ceri, Willow/Ceri, Willow/Kaley, Brent/Kaley, Emily/Tara/Willow. Lotsa fun to be had for sure.

I liked how Tara more or less contradicted herself when answering the question why she destroyed the bed. Nice setup of Dawn's work as well, could have been a lot more evil though.

Not so sure if I like Emily pestering/torturing Tara just to see if she can control resulting outbursts. There has to be some easier method for that, hurting Tara is never good. The location of such training could also be chosen a lot better. Besides, how sure is Emily she CAN actually handle things if Tara kinda blows up ? What if Tara needs to let go of a larger amount of magic then a single-book-burning/desk can do (and why assume she would only burn *books* anyway?) ?

Line that stuck with me from this chapter: (Tara) " She hated that death followed her". Liked Brianna's definition of the waiting room :D , so full of trust.

Oh yes, I found myself (fully) agreeing with Dawn when she spoke to Cassie about Tara. That's actually scary, I never agree with Dawn on a certain TV-show... guess kids do grow up then :D

Tara's surely not going to get an easy life any day soon :(

That's all my comment for today I think...

All last night I had dreams of hitting the refresh button on the screen. NO update.....No update. ** Looks at calendar ** It is tuesday? Nightmare really.

So I came down very early and there it was. Ahhhhhh, much better now. :)

OMG the Mage-a-pause now that was hysterical. LOL funny.

Poor Tara being pulled in so many directions, makes me want to torch something.

The fic is just fantastic. Thanks so much I can tell we have a heck of alot of story ahead of us. I'm so happy about that.

Re: Chapter 13...finally!

Postby WebWarlock » Wed Oct 09, 2002 8:10 am

I liked Emily. She is crusty old woman that has forgotten more than most people ever will know. So if she is a little impatient with Tara, well maybe Tara should listen to what she has to say.

Richard Pryor (yes the comedian) used to say "there is no such thing as an old fool. You don't get old by being a fool." Emily is no fool.

Brent and her exploding office. Ok I know it was a serious scene but it was a comical picture. Brent is going to start a spanking list too I am thinking.

I knew Willow had not been casting, but this confirms it. She is going to be so scared. This makes more sense than that other crappy fic they are talking about in the S7 side of the board. I am worried about the Brianna and Megan. Both mothers going through this at the same time. I know they are not in any danger, but Brianna would worry so much.

Course I can see Willow, Tara and Bri all in meditation:

Tara: Stupid powers.

Brianna: They are not powers mama, but gifts.

Willow: Stupid gifts.

Ah my little nicotine addicted Dawn, one of the problems of med school.

One hour and 45 mins, yeah there is nothing going on between Dawn and Bre at all. ;) I can attest that having a few letters after you name does open some doors, not that I have ever abused those prilivages myself. Though I could hear Dawn telling the cop after he offered the escort, "no, you'll only slow me down".

I felt bad for Dawn, she lost her first patient only to hear her best friend was shot. Quite honestly I am not surprised she jumped on Tara's case. I am sure she will feel bad about it, but I get the feeling that even as good natured as she is, Dawn can hold a grudge.

Speaking of which, how tall is she by now? I saw a new picture of MT from the Tower Records signing, she has got to be the tallest member of the cast by now. Imagine her in this series?

Willow and Tara as Mages. Yes it makes sense. They allways shared everything, esp in UC. I was saying in my last post that this was too much power for Tara to handle.

Oh course the Willow and Tara scene. It really dominates this whole chapter. You know Willow wanted to yell and be angry. But she couldn't.

This is a good ride! I love this, thanks Lisa.

Okay. I have a question. Actually more of a question/challenge. Can you make all the Scoobs be gay? Coz that would be soooooooo cool. Or maybe I'm just sad and crazy. But let's see, Wilow, Tara, Dawn, we all know Giles is just a repressed British lesbian(er..), Anya most likely has no inhibitions whatsoever (gotta love a girl like that!), crayon boy, obviously, is in denial. Anyone else? Hmm...or you could, just, y'know, igmore me. Most people do.
