chapter info

Postby Lisa of Nine » Wed Oct 30, 2002 2:57 am

Hi everyone.

Thank you all for the wonderful support. It's really been a source of strength for me. I have the next chapter done, but it needs to be edited. I tried to do the edits tonight, but honestly, when I thought it was done after several read-throughs... I found some mistakes my cats wouldn't have missed... or made. I sent it to my fabulous editor. She will save it. ;-) (Thanks Lea!)

I will post it tomorrow after work. (Around 500pm PST)

Thanks again. And PLEASE, use the emails and at the ends of the chapters and send emails and letters again. We need to make our voices heard now more than ever.

While I am seriously addicted to your fic, and dying for an update - please know that the readers here totally get how much work you put into this. I am really grateful, and fully appreciate how much you have helped in dealing with this whole situation.

As for the writing of 'I stopped watching because of Tara's senseless death' letters - they will not stop till the show 'that will not be named' stops. So consider yourself my mage in this regard, and I am one of your guard - my services are at your beck and call.

Hey Lisa thanks for the early update. I am glad that Tara gave Willow some time to be angry, although I feel that Willow will be angry again when she finds out what is going on. I really like Brianna and how she can see Dawn and Bre's lights and how she told them, hopefully those two will work it out soon. Glad to see Tara is getting some control, for now. Although with the Maclay's just around the corner that may all change.

This was great!

First things first.

I love the Dawn/Bre interaction. Your Dawn was so great. Telling off Kaley with her been-there-done-that attitude. I also love you are taking you time with her and Bre's relationship, it feels very natural. Really loved the whole Dawn/Bre scenes. And Bre is such the dedicated Imbolc Gaurd, coming out of sleep and asking about Tara.

Mischievous Willow is one of my favorite Willows.

I do feel really bad for Tara. She still has a lot to go through and now her family is coming back into the picture. Yikes.

Too bad we can't get some reall daughters of the flame to go knocking on Whedon's door. ;)

Don't forget everyone. Use those email buttons! Now more than ever your voice needs to be heard!

Great job Lisa!

Lisa of Nine: Great update, I LOVED that Willow and Tara talked things out, I got very teary-eyed when Willow said that she belongs with her and their family, that is SO true. I really like the whole Dawn and Bre relationship, and it was really cool that Brianna could see that they have feeling for each other. You were right about the cliffhanger, I don't like the idea of Tara's family wanting to see her, kinda creeps me out, I hope that they don't hurt her. I can't wait to read more.

Postby MissQuirky » Wed Oct 30, 2002 4:16 pm

Hey Lisa,

That was a great update, definitely worth waiting for!! :D And i'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt. *HUGZ*

Again the update was very good! :) 1st off I can officially say i want Kaley out... if i were Dawn it woulda takin a lotta ppl to hold me back from giving her what she deserves!

In the hospital when Brianna was reading Dawn and Bre's aura's and the outcome being all bright like her mommies are... i thought it was so sweet. :) Dawn and Bre's alone time with all the hand holding and head on lap thing. Definitley Loved it! I'm hoping u'll let them realize that they each have the same feelings for each other, coz i'm all for a Bre and Dawn hook-up here. :grin

Now we come to Willow and Tara... i loved how u handled them. And Willow's "Master Plan" was very smart and had a really good meaning for it... but i kinda gotta kick outta it with Ceri in the bed and not leaving her side for anything. I do think they worked somethings out. Now Tara has to tell Will bout the whole mage and regaining her powers, don't know how that'll go... but definitely looking forward to it. :)

Caleb dying and wanting to see Tara... now why is that sound so surprising and unexpected to me? :hmm Can't wait to c where u take it! :)

~Ashley~

Willow: We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know... insane.

Re: Chapter 14

Postby mollyig » Wed Oct 30, 2002 4:24 pm

Dawn's dislike of Kaley. I'm sure she didn't realise that it was jealousy and not just Kaley's manner. Knowing a bit more about Kaley I have a teensy bit of sympathy for her, but she can't keep treating people the way she's been doing. I think Brianna's observation of how Dawn and Bre interacted has given Dawn something to think about.

Poor Tara struggling with her powers, fearful of Willow's reaction to having to share the burden. I was worried for a minute that Willow's revenge plan would end badly. I'm glad Ceri was able to get them talking again.

Postby Willowfan » Wed Oct 30, 2002 4:44 pm

First off...I was wondering how you are doing? Are you ok? How is your family? I hope they, and you, are doing better.

Second, I wanted to say how much we all love and admire you. You have a great gift, and you use it to make ...gods...how many people on this board, and numerous others, smile...laugh...sometimes cry...but always, ALWAYS show us what true love is with Willow and Tara.

The newest chapter is no different. Willow and Tara reunited and *ahem* working things out. Dawn and Bre inching....quite painfully slow, may i point out...towards their true feelings.

Lisa. You are, quite simply, amazing. I found fanfic, this site...and so much more thru you. Your's is the first fic I ever read, and I have read many, MANY more since then. (It was Pure Heart, BTW...and i REALLY loved that one). And to this day, you remain my favorite author.

And as for Kaley...well...we haven't seen much Buffy action. I know, I know...it's a Willow and Tara story...but...can't Buffy get in there and kick a little @$$?

1) For DARING to say those things about Tara.

2) For threatining Dawn...erm...excuse me...Dr. Summers...like that.

3) For DARING to say those things about Tara.

Yeah...said that one twice...but c'mon...that girl needds to be smacked down in a big way...and I would personally love to se Buffy beat that bitca down....and Ceri too...Ceri needs to whup that skanks @$$ too.

Well...thank you for the update....and I hope you are doing a little better. As always, our thoughts, prayers and hearts are with you.

She didn’t add that the latest warning had only been handed out a few hours earlier in the day, or that she hadn’t mentioned it to Tara yet. Diana’s earlier warning had been a strong suggestion that Willow not carry another child. Her new warning had been much more forceful and had scared Willow.

Now why does this worry me. And did I miss Willow getting injured or has something happened that will explained later?

I have to admit I too feel a little sorry for Kaley. I mean she lost her sister and naturally blames Tara.

Too bad she can't see how much it hurt Tara as well and what Tara would do for Kaley when she found/finds out.

Course at the same time Kaley having to wait on Willow so Willow cna give her a piece of her mind is also something Kaley "needs".

Damnit Lisa, first Shelia, now Kaley and maybe even Caleb, taking these unsavory characters that we want to hate and making them sympathetic. That's why I liked your Rack, nothing about him to like, just pure evil. ;)

I loved Tara's assessment of Emily, hoping she would get to be as crotchity as her one day.

How does it feel to have created a bunch of D/B (Dawn/Bre) shippers!

Postby blameburner » Wed Oct 30, 2002 10:42 pm

Brilliant, as ever. If you were worried about the tone of this chapter, you needn't have been... it came out just right.

I love the fact that at the moment, Willow's the calm, nurturing figure and Tara's the one letting her emotions rule (not like she has much choice, though). It's such an intriguing reversal, one you're pulling off very well. I was actually mad at Tara for a brief moment - and I never get mad at Tara! And Willow... definitely sigh-and-thud-worthy.

I'm intrigued to see where the MaClay family is going to move things. I'm also a little afraid to see what will happen when Donnie comes a'callin' and Willow is going through mage-o-pause with the dark magick. *shivers*

So, thanks for the wonderful update, and let me add my sincerest sympathies as well.

Hi all,

I am so glad everyone is liking the new chapter, and that the Maclay clan surprised you. I was worried I had foreshadowed too much early on with Tara's fears of being like her family.

Things are heating up now, so when the next chapter comes up, the pace will be quick. I'll try to even it out with some slow scenes with W&T in bed. ;-)

I want to thank everyone for being so patient and supportive. Now for some replies!

dykeleen:

I pronounce Ceri's name as follows. (I have no idea what the Celtic version is.) Ceridwen= Care-a-dwin and Ceri= kerry

dekalog:

While I am opposed to addictions, I am all for guards at my beck and call! Woo and Hoo. Hey, I'd like a nice hot bath now, thank you. With fresh lavender from the garden. ;-)

peggy of sunnydale:

Thank you for being patient. It means a lot.

rocktoddy:

I hope to get back on my every Tuesday schedule. Cross your fingers! If my work and school load stays low, I should be able to!

dykeleen:

Well, more addiction and another guard. Cool! (not the addiction part) BTW, we will see some commentary on Dawn's smoking and her binge drinking. ;-)

Jennpurr:

Thank you for all the comments you give me. I always know you will post. (I think many fan fic folks worry a chapter will flop and get bad fan fic ratings- (feedback droughts). Good lord...Tim and HIP have turned me into a ratings junkie. ;-)

saule77:

hope you enjoyed the chapter at work. Let me know!

Puff:

I agree, Willow needed to be angry. As for her being angry in the morning...well, Tara isn't the only one with a secret. ;-) Willow and her little injury just might inspire angry Tara.

BTW- Dawn and Bre were both too busy panicking to really process everything Brianna revealed. I mean, think about if your secret crush was revealed... panic sets in fast!

Look for some out of control stuff when the Maclays get involved, but probably not in the way you think. ;-)

Hotfoot:

I am SO happy I surprised you. ;-)

Hopefully I will continued to do so...and all WITHOUT adding murder or rape to the story...oh, sorry, that turned into a ME rant.

WebWarlock: Tim,

Dawn and Bre get to have all the slow stuff I didn't get to have with W&T. ;-) Since W&T were already in love when my epics began, I didn't get to do the discovery stuff.

Bre and asking about Tara? Yeah, she IS the vanguard of the DotF.

Mischievous Willow is one of my favorites... along with frisky Tara.

The Maclays have a few surprises for us and Tara. ;-)

I WISH we could send Ceri and Bre to JW's door one dark night. He would wet his pants.

Thanks for the email buttons. I hope people are using them.

Oriyon:

Did you get the chapter? I can send it to you if you didn't.

dykeleen:

Now, honey...what would fan fic be without angst? ;-)

I like to think Willow's master plan didn't so much backfire as it blossomed into a better plan... a plan full of Tara snuggles.

I'm trying to make Brianna NOT perfect, so she does things like point out secret crushes... hehehe I doubt Bre and Dawn will get a clue soon, though. ;-)

Glad you are enjoying the stories.

lonewolf:

That talking scene was tough for me to write. Nothing brings up losing family like having Willow explain how much she and Tara belong together. I got a bit teary eyed myself, but for different reasons. (Just don't tell anyone. I have to protect my butch image... and despite what tiyodragon says, I am butch!)

BTW- The Maclays are supposed to be creepy. *G*

Thanks for your kind words and thoughts.

missquirky:

thanks for the hugs. ;-)

Dawn got to Kaley in her own way. Kaley wanted a brawl and Dawn wouldn't give her the satisfaction.

Bre and Dawn... the clueless leading the clueless.

I somehow doubt Willow had any intention of Ceri actually staying the night. Willow can't go without Tara snuggles for long.

Willow might soon have some real understanding of Tara's mage-o-pause. *G*

As for Caleb (BTW, I read that name in a WT fan fic eons ago...I forget which one... and thought it really fit. It might have been one by Shaych... anyway, I borrowed the name for Tara's dad because it seems perfect. So I guess he is fan fan fic.) now, you are assuming Caleb is dying... did the doctor say that? ;-)

mollyig:

Hey, thanks for giving me so much feedback. And I can spell your name now that I know where it comes from!

Kaley has been acting out so far- nothing that would require swordplay. She's hurting but her honor has kept her mostly in line. We'll see if that holds true. ;-)

Tara is worried... and rightly so. Willow with mage-o-pause just as the slack jawed yokel in-laws show up? yikes.

Willowfan:

I am doing much better.Thank you for asking. My family is adapting. Humans do that, and life has a habit of moving on.

I am honored that you have gotten so much from my fiction. I write because I must. I think many writers are the same way. I mean, can you imagine if I left all this stuff bouncing around INSIDE my head? I am just glad others enjoy my efforts.

Willow and Tara will have more"working things out." : -->>: -)

Dawn and Bre... well they will be working... toward extreme frustration!

There are so many incredible writers on the Pens. I feel like I am missing out. I don't read other WT fic while I am writing my own. I had fun with Pureheart, but I felt guilty about making Phoebe suffer without Tara. I really needed a spare Tara in that one.

Kaley... yeah, Kaley... you are angry with her now? Just give it time. : -->>: -)

Don't forget that Tara lined up a cute, but clumsy dude for Buffy... now, will she like a nice guy? hmmm... he hasn't murdered anyone so it's doubtful.

thanks again for your kind words and thoughts. It helps, a lot.

Wolflord:

Real life is getting better, either that or I am kicking it right back. Thanks for thinking of me.

Willow and the tummy... well, she was carting that saddle around and it has only been three weeks since she had major surgery... But don't worry, would I give you more angst? *batting my eyelashes*

Wiccansillusion:

I'm glad you like Bre and Dawn... but they are both so clueless...

Glad you are enjoying the story. I'll try to keep the ride bumpy. ;-)

I'm doing my best to kick some butt in RL.

Webwarlock:

Yeah, Kaley... joining Tara's Imbolc Guard may not have been the best choice for her. Now she has to endure hurricane Willow.

BTW, I happen to like the not quite fully evil baddies. When I wrote evil rack, well, that was payback for stuff on the small screen. Besides, I'm sure Rack had a few good points...unlike that rat bastard keeper who got disemboweled.

Have no fear, in MY world, Tara will grow up to be just like Emily, and she will have Willow at her side.

Bre/Dawn shippers? Well, at least we can have some wholesome images for a B/D ship. I shudder when I think of the actual B/D sites. eeew. From now on, B/D WILL be Bre/Dawn.

--------

okay, thanks to everyone for the comments. I limited these replies to the stuff posted since the new chapter. I will do my best to keep up with replies now. This board is incredible in its generosity. Thanks!

Lisa

*** Edited to add people who posted WHILE I was writing my replies!

Blameburner:

Thank you so much for responding to my concerns about the tone. My POV has been skewed the last few weeks.

I see Willow as very nurturing, and wanted to let her shine. She's being strong for her girl, but have no fear, Tara will gladly return the favor. Willow is always thud-worthy!

The Maclays... yeah, what do they have planned? : -->>: -)

Thank you for you sympathies. It helps.

JewWitch18:

Wow, Tori hugs? That does rock! She is incredible.

I am so glad the Maclays were a big surprise. They have a few more things up their sleeves. Sadly, if anything can get Willow's dark side up and raging, it's Tara's family. I will give W&T some happy snuggles before the storm hits, and some Mommy time with Brianna and Megan. ;-)

Thanks!

Re: FF: Milestones (Sequel to Unexpected Consequences)

Postby saule77 » Thu Oct 31, 2002 4:56 am

Lisa,

I’ve been a member of this board for a few months now. Lurked for longer and have read W/T fanfic for much longer. After surfing the Internet in all directions, I can safely say that I’ve read quite a few rather bad ones, good ones, thankfully a lot of very good ones, and a handful of awesome ones. A few that leave me speechless.

Sidestep Chronicles leaves me speechless, just as Final Exam did. So, Katharyn, Ruth, if you happen to read this post… Now you know.

I’m intimidated, I don’t know where to start I’m so overwhelmed… Just a couple of reasons why I don’t give feedback on those few fics. But most of all, I feel like no matter what I say, I won’t be able to do the writers justice.

And I know I should, because I really do believe that for a writer, it’s important to know that your work, your creation is appreciated. I suppose the “Hit count” on the first page is a clear indicator as to whether a fic is read or not but it’s not enough. My silence contributes to that “not enough”. I’ve decided to change all that. Starting with you.

I’ve read all your fics. Heck, I know them almost off by heart. A couple I have read so many times that I had to re-print them, the pages were in such a state… Me and my friends talk about your stories over lunch, just like we would for the latest movie or concert we went to.

I discovered your website quite a while ago, before I discovered the Wonderland that is the Kitten. Stumbled upon it really. By chance. I read one chapter of “Tears of the Goddess” and bookmarked your site straight away. I had NEVER read fanfic so compelling. I wish I could stay away from them until they are finished because waiting for updates is killing me but the mind is weak…

Your stories are so inventive, full of little details that make them both endearing, funny, angsty.

The way you write the characters is so true to them. Your plots are all very elaborate but easy to follow. I have often wondered, 100 pages on: “How the Hell did we get here?” but it all makes sense. The progression is seamless and we end up caught in a storm of events always unexpected but as I said before, it really makes sense. It’s not because they are unexpected that there are no clues as to what might happen. I never think “Where did THAT come from?” Nothing comes completely out of the blue. Well, nothing absolutely shocking anyway. Even in a world of fantasy, you tackle it as a “real” story. No props, no divine intervention to make the story go forward again, no fairytale.

That’s one of the things I love about your fics. The natural progression of the story.

I’m sorry the words are not flowing as well as I wish they would today but I really felt like I should let you know how great a writer I think you are. And although I have rambled on for quite some time now, I know I still haven’t done you justice.

Lisa I have to say it was definitely worth the wait. It's also nice to hear that you are doing so well. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that would let real life kick you around for long.

About that last chapter, the Dawn/Bre interaction does seem painfully slow, but in a good way. They are both clearly not ready for a hot and heavy relationship. Dawn has a lot going on, and I predict that we have only seen the beginning. Plus Bre with her recent killing, and near death experience. It's nice to see a relationship unfold that is wriitten so true to RL.

I am loving the way you write Brianna. You have done a wonderful job in showing that she is definitely a mixture of her two mommies.

The return of Tara's family was a surprise. It only seems fair that if Tara had to deal with Willow's family, then Willow should have to deal with Tara's. I just hope that they don't hurt Tara. Maybe there could even be some reconciliation. But I wouldn't really be sad if the Imbolc Guard had to get rid of Donnie.

Thanks again for all you do. You're awesome!

Tara: Every time I... even at my worst, you always make me feel special. How do you do that?

Oh Lisa as a proud member of the CoT. I must say this update was great as usual.

***Can I get a witness***

That said.........um the bed thing with Will and Ceri........I just hate that it backfired. It was such a wicked idea.

And the Maclay family getting involved........I had that immediately and I really shudder at the thought of YOU bringing them in. I know you are going to make it very interesting.

I loved the Dr. Dawnie scenes. The relationship is heating up and I must say I like it.

I can't wait for the conversation between W/T about the magic and how all of that will play with the introduction of Tara's kin.

Ohhhhh so wonderful! Well worth the wait.
