Great chapter! (Okay, I know that's a complete understatement, but then again, anything probably is.)

However, you still haven't gotten rid of pessimistic me. He's an annoying little bugger, I tell ya... :)

So, let's get on with the review, shall we?

Pessimistic Leafsdude: Okay, there are a lot of positives to take out of this chapter, but there's a reason why I call myself 'pessimistic'. One thing I've noticed in this story is that there is a certain 'teeter-todder' element to this story. Whenever one side of the equation is good, the other always is bad. In this case, the good is Willow with her resolve to get to know Tara better, and the bad is Tara with her attempt to subtly get Willow out of the apartment. Probably by the time Tara's resolve dwindles, and she starts trying to let Willow get to know her again, Willow will likely flip around and become all closed-in on herself again. (I would like to take a moment here to bow down to your amazing and all-powerful brain because I am not worthy!!!) Oh, and I'm so embarrased that I missed the fact that Buffy was going away. What probably actually happened (which is to say, the excuse I have for it) is that I thought it was too good to be true, so I thought I must have thought up that bit. Anyway, at first I thought this was a great thing, but it's Buffy, and she never has good timing in this fic. She, of course, decides to leave the one time where her being around would actually be a good thing (yeah, it's hard for me to admit it, but it would be a good thing...trust me). Reason why? Because Willow needs that place to start, and I'm thinking Sheila isn't really gonna be it. Go figure. I see a long road to getting everything all settled, and it seems like it's gonna be a couple million little steps to get there.

(PS. Add me to the list of those who think you're evil. Cause, well...you are!) This is you! >>>

Optimistic Leafsdude: There's a lot to be optimistic about in this chapter. There was a lot of good subtle gestures and conversations. When Tara gave Willow the 'I'll walk you to the door' line, I just thought, 'well, maybe they might finally slowly be getting somewhere.' And it was great to see Tara notice Willow's facial expression change at the mention of Anya. That's chemistry for ya! And Morgan's a creep. Sorry, but I'm sure she'll be come one. Right? However, I know when the optimism is starting to run out when you're waiting and hoping for Buffy to return soon. That just can't be good.

Look forward to that 'dinner date'! And bring Buffy home soon! (I can't believe I asked for that...)

PS. Sorry for the long review...I just ramble sometimes. And the thinking...Evil thinking...

Wow...Just posted that a moment after you did...

Oh well, I get to be the first new post! :D

Just gonna go with a quick review this time, to save the time.

Very funny how Willow just realizes "Morgan might be a woman!" And while I have a dislike for Morgan, I absolutely *hate* Jill. Damn bitch!

Oh, and Xander and Willow watching a movie over the phone. Priceless! Just wish Tara hasn't bailed out because of the whole Xander thing. (Warning: If-statements coming up here...) If she had only walked in about 5-10 minutes sooner, everything would be pretty much cleared up. But that's too easy. :)

Hopefully you don't update again before I post this! LOL

Still an awesome update, I was looking forward to it cuz you know, being the addict freak I am, I needed some of your talented writting to keep going.

*resigned sigh* Yes, Heather, that was an angsty one. But if you gave us two happy feelgood moving the relationship forward updates in a row, well then you WOULDN'T HAVE US ALL WRAPPED AROUND YOUR EVIL LITTLE FINGERS WOULD YOU??? *deep breath* I'm okay...really.

I love how well you show their thought processes--they're both so analytical. I think Leafsdude's teeter-totter analogy said it best: this time Willow's all with the positive 'I know what I have to do' plan, while Tara is lost in 'Xander makes her light up' delusions. Of course, by the end you had them BOTH back to being sure the other is interested in someone else.

So how 'bout getting them off that damn teeter-totter and onto the merry-go-round of love! Or the tilt-a-whirl of smutty fun, or the --well, you get it.

Hey, I really enjoyed the update. It was angsty yes, but not hopelessly so. More like miscommunication angsty. I liked how Willow was telling herself how horrible she screwed up and yet, at the same time, was all bouncing in her seat because of the lunch with Tara.

Hee, Tara said "quirky."

And I wish Willow would let it slip that she is just not interested in Xander.

All in all, very enjoyable and just so darn good. Damn woman does your talent know no limits?

Update soon. Although, I suspect that the angst might not be over in the next update so much, if it turns out to be about Tara and Morgan.

Good googly moogly woman, you are killing me here with all the angst. As I occasionally say "Don't look an angsty update in the punctuation." (Of course looking an update in the punctuation is legal in only 5 states; Nevada being one of them. Did I mention that what I say rarely makes sense.) Anyway, yet another wonderful update. I just imagine that when they finally realize all of their assumptions & miscommunication that it will be quite comical and sweet. Could you throw me a bone and give a rough estimate about how much more angst this poor old heart of mine has to endure until it is all puppies and pez? (which happens to be the greatest candy in the WORLD, once you get past the strangeness of snapping back something's head and eating candy from its neck.) I really do hope the "making dinner" is not filled with angst. In my fantasy world, it is something akin to "Woman on Top" with the sensuality of the food and the two together creating it.

Damn that woman and her obnoxious androgynous name, damn her! *shakes fist* This was a hard update to read because I really know the painful punch of the green eyed monster... poor both of them. They are so woefully misguided - proof that they are meant for each other! Come out already Willow, you get a toaster to go with that cookbook!!!

Poor, Poor Girls

Postby wimpy0729 » Mon Oct 04, 2004 11:09 pm

Man I feel sorry for those girls, for what you're doing to them. Those poor, misguided girls are at your evil mercy. How can you just keep doing that to them? I guess it's because you're so good at it. And you know it keeps us all coming back for more of your evil goodness!

The way you write both of their thoughts, it's almost like watching a split screen movie, a la Rock Hudson and Doris Day.

Man, just when Willow was all giddy, all excited about coming out and letting Tara know because she doesn't mess with straight girls, comes the next bomb -- the realization that Morgan could be a woman. CRAP!

Now Tara didn't have to go out and find Morgan just because Willow was spending time watching the movie with Xander. Why didn't she just go to her room or something? I hope she doesn't go out and do something stupid, like end up being consoled by Morgan, which could lead to badness. Oh yeah, definitely hating the Jill-bitch. No wonder Tara's gun shy.

Anyway...I know there's gonna be some goodness and hopefully some enlightening exposition at their dinner...so I'll keep hanging on to that thought just to keep me going. ;)

Great job again!

Argh. :no You did it again. Confusion over all. I was all "sigh...shit" when Tara heard Willow saying Xander while she laughed. What a damper! Poor Tara. And same goes for Willow, who i just could imagine being totally giddy, who finally thought about the possibility of Morgan being a girl.

Pleeease let the dinner go smoothly. sigh.

Great work as always!

Woo hoo for Xander’s apparently Heather-enhanced brain! Morgan might be a woman indeed! Take that Willow and get some truth flowing. Ok, actually I’m not that frustrated with Willow right now: I feel like she’s doing very well at making forward progress and making an effort. I’m frustrated at her for at least 2 out of the last 3 years.

Poor Tara. I understand that feeling exactly. That embarrassment about something more than actual emotion about the relationship. Like, what if people think I’m a fool or a sucker or whatever. I’m not asking for details because I get enough of them but I’m not entirely sure from Tara’s hysterical thinking process what was so humiliating about her physical relationship with Jill (or lack-thereof) but it does sound like some kind of a Tara’s-a-lesbian-for-six-years-but-gets-to-have-her-first-time-with-Willow scenario.

One of the aspects I really like is that Willow is supposed to be letting Tara know some of her quirks and she probably thinks she needs to figure out which ones to explain but here she is: quirky all over. The post-it-notes color coded and the specificity of the Tuesday morning/Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning note communication is darn quirky as is watching a movie long distance.

I’m sure the Morgan revelation will spur Willow to greater spazicity (does Tara even have Morgan’s number in her phone? Isn’t it on her dresser?). I can’t wait to see it.

Well done.

Well for once I agree with Buffy - Tara deserves lots of puppies and lollipops. And hot Willow love. Not at the same time as the puppies though, cause puppies jumping on top of them while they're 'busy'... nah. They might be able to do something inventive with the lollipops though.

Okay, mind out of the gutter now :)

Poor Tara - I only realised now that we only got Willow's point of view of Jill, which left me, with regards to said Jill, feeling 'grrr' (on Tara's behalf), but also sorry for her, cause I didn't doubt Jill herself wasn't happy. Now having gotten a clearer picture... well, Jill probably isn't happy anyway, but I ain't feeling sorry for her. Poor Tara :cry

And Tara worrying that Willow'd think she's inexperienced... did I mention I'm over feeling sorry for Jill?

There's an interesting parallel to the Xander situation though - this is something about Tara that colours how she reacts to Willow, yet Willow has no idea because Buffy's faithfully kept Tara's secret. Which is the right thing to do of course, just like Xander's a hero for keeping Willow's confidence, but... normally I'm fairly over the Buffy cliche of some mysterious demon, spell or random paranormal event tapping into whatever personal issues are going on among the Scoobies and forcing them to the surface to be dealt with, but right now what's really needed is some careless warlock dumping a 'bi-directional full-time telepathy' spell on Tara's house when she and Willow are there. Sigh. I guess they'll just have to sort out all this the same way as everyone else - make an effort to open up, show each other who they really are, good and bad...

Speaking of Xander (as I was higher up that last paragraph), minor 'oops' there for introducing Willow to the notion of the female Morgan. But he's got plenty of good karma racked up, he can afford a misstep here and there... and I'm wondering if it might be better for Willow to 'find' out this way, when she has time to think - even if it is going to be panicky-spaz-Willow-thought-babble thinking - rather than "Hi, I'm Willow! Who're you, unidentified woman?" "Hi, I'm Morgan." (Willow faints and runs away screaming at the same time - which is tricky, but Willow's capable of all sorts of things.) At least this way Willow can turn the whole 'Is Tara dating Morgan?' idea over in her head, and if/when she discovers Morgan's femininity for real (wait, that sounds different than it did in my mind) she'll have at least given it some thought beforehand, and it won't be a complete surprise.

I'm holding you to that promise of the Dinner Date going well. If it doesn't... let's just say horses' heads aren't nearly as frightening as finding this: :fit2 on your doorstep when you get home.

On that theme, Tara finding the cookbook was adorable - Willow's coloured notes :lol

Oh, and one thing I've been meaning to ask - what's BART? I get that it's public transport, is it the trams they have in SF?

Sigh though, bad timing with Willow tele-watching movies with Xander. Oh well... I've done that movies-by-phone thing, it's fun :) Difficult to manage though - I always seemed to spend the first five minutes pausing for fractions of a second trying to sync up with the other end.

So... Willow/Tara Dinner Date? Talking-without-spazzing? (Although, be it in a clumsy manner, Wilow's spazzing did manage to get a couple of things clear between them.) Making dinner together? More talking? Kissing and gay love? :luv2

It is a good thing you give angst warnings prior to chapters cause I don't think I could take it otherwise. :D

I was thrilled after the last chapter because I was thinking "Yay, dinner date!". Some W&T alone time. Then immediately the thought crossed my mind, I bet you're going to throw another chapter in there before we get to the dinner date. Which you did... full of more miscommunication and confusion. Arrghhhh :gnome

Despite the angst, it was very well written and I always look forward to your updates. :D Feeling pretty bad for Tara though, I hope :pray she doesn't make some major mistake with Morgan.

That was a great update, as always :applause

When I read about Jill in the last update I felt a bit sorry for her but after hearing about how she used and abused Tara that's gone.

One thing did occur to me. Did Jill leave Tara because she was trying to convince herself that she was straight or because she really was? If it's a latter then there's a certain amount of symetry between that situation and the one Tara's currently in. Before she was in love with a woman who she thought was gay but who was really straight and now she's in love with a woman who she thinks is straight but who is really gay.

I was surprised at how insightful Buffy was. But she's right Tara does deserve puppies and warm feelings.

But damn Michelle and Marissa for getting so frisky. If they could have kept there hands off of each other and forced Tara to stay to lock up then it would have prevented an awkward situation.

At first I was a bit annoyed with Willow for being so clueless, but I guess she doesn't know that Tara's in love with her.

Though Tara was mainly upset because she thought that Willow and Xander had just been having sex. Hopefully once she's assimilated the fact that they were just talking on the phone while watching a film she'll recover a little.

I'm glad that Xander was able to clue Willow in to Morgan possibly being a woman, even though it did cause her some distress to start off with. I think that when it comes to moving on with her "get Tara" plan a rival might be just what the doctor ordered.

Looking forward to :read more

I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to get into this but after a while it tugged at my brain and pulled me back in. Now, I have to agree with those kittens who are pulling their hair out over the heart wrenching updates. "Will they just talk already bout gay love or keep avoiding one another?"

I am just riding it out cuz I know in the land of the kittens, Willow and Tara always find one another. However, if I may be so bold as to add.....Please stop with the teasing and save the girls from anymore angst!!!!!!!

Re: New Fic - Neverland

Postby Grimlock72 » Tue Oct 05, 2004 4:26 pm

Weeeee.... two updates at once, how nice :)

What I liked most in the previous updates is the obvious care Willow and Tara have for each other. To bad that most of it stays inside their thoughts though :lol . Willow's odd questions might trigger Tara into thinking about some things, some good might actually come of it.

As many other readers I'm very much wondering why Willow doesn't tell Tara about her work. I'm fairly sure she's proud of what she does and she has decided that she wants Tara to get to know her... so why the shielding still ??

This line confused me:
Quote:
She turned back and tried to slide them on without bending over, but couldn't manage. "Damnit..." she whispered, tears starting to sting her eyes. Again. You did it again. When are you going to learn...

Where does the 'you did it again' refer to ? Falling in love with a straight girl ? Good thing she didn't manage in this particulair case as well, at least she talked some with Willow. Way to much assuming on Tara's part there, reaching conclusion without as much as asking the person concerned said conclusion :) Nasty habit, probably brought on by being hurt once and wanting to avoid further damage.

I don't hate Morgan actually, I don't see why I should. She came on to Tara on a party which she organized. Combined with the fact that Tara knows Morgan is gay I don't see much of a problem, Tara went willingly to the party after all. I do wonder if Tara will really go to Morgan this evening, she did think 'please let her be free' after all... which is useless since she only used 'Morgan' as an excuse to get out of the house again. (running away from resolution of perceived problems as usual :) )

At least Willow is on the right track, she just needs some more time before coming out to Tara. I would prefer her coming out to Buffy first, Sheila second... the latter being more likely to react not-positive (not nessecarely negative, but Willow might take it that way). Would be easier if she was 'out' to Buffy already if such a thing happened. Unless she wants to cry on Tara's shoulder... would be ok with me, well except the crying part :lol .

Let's see how the dinner goes. Should be relaxed hopefully, both of them sooooo need to relax around the other.
