Chapter 7



        Willow woke up that morning to the sound of the rain tapping against the windows. She tried to sit up, but something was holding her down. She looked down at her stomach and saw an arm wrapped around it. Willow held up both her arms, and then looked at the one on her stomach, then back up to her arms. What in the frilly heck is going on? Did I grow an extra arm over night? She turned over and saw Tara lying next to her, fast asleep. Suddenly she remembered the events from the night before, and how her cowardness had lead to her cuddling up to Tara for protection. I should get scared more often!



        Willow had tried to move herself off of the bed without waking Tara up. She tried to slip out from under Tara’s cuddly arms, but the sudden movement caused Tara to tighten her grip around Willow’s waist and rested her head on her shoulder. Her own movements had caused Tara to open her eyes and look up at Willow. She smiled a sort of half smile which must have been contagious because Willow smiled back. Willow reached down and tucked a loose hair behind Tara’s ear. She once again stopped when she realized what she was doing. She quickly got up off the bed and began one of her many nervous babbles.



        “Oh man Tara, I am so sorry. I always do that, why do I always do that? I mean we’re all sleepy and enjoying the cuddlyness of the sleepyness, and then I do that thing that they do in the movies right before they kiss the person. You know with the whole hair tucking thing? They always kiss after one person tucks the other person’s hair behind their ears, well not always. I mean sometimes people are just annoyed when they are talking to someone and they have hair on their face, so the other person tucks it behind their ear, but most of the time they kiss. And I don’t want you to think I was hitting on you, b-because I wasn’t. I just noticed you had a hair on your face, so I tucked it behind your ear. I don’t want you to feel all uncomfortable around me, thinking I’m all with the trying to kiss you and stuff, because I wasn’t! I was just trying to be helpful with the making you more comfortable with the lack of hair on your face, but instead I made you all uncomfortable with the trying to kiss you thing. NO, not the TRYING to kiss you thing, the you THINKING I was trying to kiss you thing. Because I wasn’t. Uh, trying to kiss you that is!”



        Willow finally managed to stop talking. She looked up at Tara who had an extremely confused look on her face. Is she confused because she still thinks that I tried to kiss her, or is she trying to figure out what the frilly heck I said?!?



        “Uh Willow, settle down. I wasn’t uncomfortable, and I know that you w-weren’t trying to k-kiss me. I think that…” Tara was interrupted be a knock at the door. She walked over and opened the door to find a drenched Giles, cleaning his classes with the same red handkerchief that he kept in his chest pocket.



        Willow walked over to her dresser and got out her clothes for the day while Tara and Giles talked. Willow was worried that she was badly screwing up her and Tara’s friendship. Even if Tara didn’t care about the fact that Willow tried to kiss her, she was sure that Tara was getting annoyed with the constant freak out babbles. She so wanted this friendship to work. She turned and watched as Tara closed the door.



        “Th-that was Mr. Giles our camp counselor. He was just letting us know that the majority of the activities for the day will be cancelled on account of the storm, but there

w-will be a meeting later today,” Tara said with a smile.



        “That’s cool. So uh, what do you want to do? Unless you’re planning on doing something with someone else,” Willow replied, hoping that Tara was free to do whatever.



        “Uh, no. I am officially free to do whatever. I mean, I should probably go see Faith sometime today, but other than that, I’m free. Do you m-maybe want to uh go take a walk in the rain?” Tara asked even though she knew that Willow was kind of afraid of this kind of weather. Tara just loved the rain; preferred it over the sun 100% except when it was the extremely cold, miserable type of rain. Then she kind of preferred the sun.



        “Uuuuh, sure. Why not. Let’s go walk in the uh r-rain,” Willow replied. She didn’t really want to go out in such nasty weather, but if it meant more Tara time, she’d do anything.



        The two girls got on their shoes and walked out of cabin six and into the rain. The moment they stepped outside, they became drenched. They walked down the pathway and across the camp grounds. Thunder roared above them, causing Willow to jump. She cringed at the sight of lightening up ahead and decided that maybe it wasn’t a good idea to come along. Tara saw the look of fear on Willow’s face, and deciding to be bold, slipped her hand into Willow’s.

       

        “I-it’s ok W-willow. You don’t have to be s-scared. I got you!” Willow looked down at Tara’s hand in hers. It just fit so perfectly. She looked back up at Tara and smiled. They continued to walk down the camp grounds, hand in hand, not really focusing on anything but the person beside them.

        Buffy awoke the next morning with her arm slung around Faith. What the? Urgh, Faith must have come back and fallen asleep in my bed. Why doesn’t she just give me the top bunk, and then we wouldn’t have this problem? Not that I’m really complaining though! Buffy thought, making no effort to move her arm. Faith turned in her sleep and wrapped her arms around Buffy, causing Buffy to smile. Faith opened her eyes and wondered where the hell she was, and who the hell she was holding on to. She looked up and met Buffy’s eyes.



        “Oh hey B,” Faith said while untangling herself from Buffy. “Yeah I kind of came home late, and was too tired to climb into my own bed, so I just kinda pushed you into the corner and stole yours.”



        “Oh, where were you? Why did you get back so late? Were you out visiting a special friend?” Buffy asked, trying not to sound too jealous or obvious.



        “I already said that if I told you, I would have to kill you,” Faith said while sitting up on the bed. She grinned her ‘sexy grin’ at Buffy.



        “Haha, like you could. I would definitely like to see you try,” Buffy teased. Faith smiled before jumping on Buffy, straddling her hips and pinning her arms down over her head.



        “Well, it definitely looks like I could!” Faith looked down at Buffy who looked a little surprised. Faith leaned down until her face was only half an inch from Buffy’s. Their lips were about to meet when suddenly there was a knock at the door. Faith jumped at the sound and hit her head on the bottom of the top bunk.



        “Mother Fucker,” Faith yelled as she clutched her head in pain. She walked to the cabin door and opened it. She looked at a completely drenched Willow and Tara.



        “What the eff you guys. Ah, T. I should have figured that you’d be out in the rain. Come on in you crazy girl,” Faith said while stepping out of the way so Tara and Willow could walk into the cabin.



        “Uh w-what was with the mega swear we heard outside the cabin? We’re not interrupting a-anything are we?” Tara asked, looking from Faith to the blonde girl on the bed.



        “Buffy? I didn’t know this was your cabin. What a small world,” Willow said while giving her best friend a hug. Tara looked away. She was confused because every time she touched Willow, Willow would freak out. Maybe she’s not homophobic; maybe she just doesn’t like me. Tara thought as she looked down at her feet, allowing her hair to fall down in front of her face.



        “Buffy, this is my roommate Tara. Tara, this is my best friend Buffy.” Willow watched as the two shook hands. “And I’m guessing that you are Faith,” Willow said while shaking her hand. Willow looked at Faith. She noticed that she was not very tall, had brown hair, wore lots of black, and had a kind of cool way of speaking. She was like the female version of the guy that Buffy described. The one that she liked from camp.

        Willow, Tara, Buffy and Faith sat in cabin 9, talking about life. Willow and Tara were stealing glances at each other while the other wasn’t looking. Faith totally would have noticed if Buffy and she weren’t doing the exact same thing. After about an hour and half, Willow and Tara told Buffy and Faith that they should get back and get changed into something dry before lunch. They gave their friends hugs, and walked out the door of cabin 9. The moment that Willow and Tara stepped into the rain, they grabbed each other’s hands, intertwining their digits, and began the walk back to cabin 6. They walked back in silence, enjoying the rain, and each other’s company.

Chapter 8

Lunchtime was fairly uneventful. Everyone was soaked and therefore quite uncomfortable while eating lunch. After lunch, everyone was split up into groups, and sent to do various indoor activities that were obviously planned last minute. Willow was happy to hear them say that cabins 1-5 would be a group, 6-10 would be a group, and etc. This meant that she got both Tara and Buffy in her group. They all met up in one of the halls where they were told that they would be doing arts and crafts.

“Arts and crafts? I thought we stopped doing this in kindergarten,” Buffy said with a pout as she gathered up some art supplies and sat at the table. Faith looked over at Buffy and smiled when she saw the pout on her face. Buffy looked back at Faith and noticed she was smiling at her. This caused her to smile as well. Not wanting the others to notice, Buffy quickly turned away.

“So, Willow. Have you seen any more of that guy you like?” Buffy said while gluing different colorful things together. Tara looked up at Willow then down at her shoes. It was confirmed, Willow was straight and interested in some boy.

“W-what? Oh, ah no. I uh, I haven’t seen him around and stuff. It doesn’t matter, I’m uh, I’m not interested in bo.. uh in that boy anymore,” Willow said. She was now looking down at her shoes as well. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could just tell them that I’m not interested in any boys? I just don’t think that they’ll understand, and I don’t want Tara to act weird around me.

“Oh, well that’s too bad. Hey, Faith could you pass me those sparkly things?” Buffy said while gluing some fuzzy pink things onto the top of her art project. She was really getting into this. Faith held out the sparkles and Buffy took them, causing her to fingers to touch Faith’s. She let them linger there a second before pulling away and adding some sparkles to her art.

Faith looked over to her best friend and noticed that she was still looking down at her shoes. She really felt bad for Tara. She knew that she liked Willow, and things rarely worked out for Tara. Faith grabbed the scissors and started to snip off pieces of the paper she held in her hand. She wasn’t really into the whole gluing colorful things together kind of art, she was more into the sketching things type of art. So, she sat there, cutting the paper into little pieces.

“What’s with this table? How come I’m the only one making art, or whatever this thing is? Come on, it’s actually kind of fun. Here, we’ll see which cabin makes the better art, cabin 6 or 9. Willow, you and Tara use those supplies to make something cool, Faith and I will start a new project, winner gets.. what does the winner get?” Buffy said with enthusiasm. She loved competition.

“Um, ok. So it’s you and me Tara? Alright, I’ll take you up on that challenge,” Willow said, feeling a little better now that the attention wasn’t focused on her. She saw that Faith didn’t look too into it.

“Come on Faith, it’ll be sorta fun. If we lose, we’ll stand out in the rain for 10 minutes. Everyone knows how much I hate the rain. That’s a big punishment,” Willow tried to persuade Faith. Faith thought for a minute. If I lose, me and B have to stand in the rain for ten minutes, which isn’t a big deal seeing as I like the rain. Plus, Buffy in a wet t-shirt. If I win, Red and T have to stand in the rain, which is a bigger deal ’cuz Red hates the rain. Ooh, so she would need Tara to comfort her.

“Ok B, let’s do this. Losers have to stand out in the rain for 10 minutes with their art project. You’re going down T!”

Everyone started to create their project. Willow and Tara gathered up some colorful paper and started gluing Popsicle sticks together. They kept glancing at each other while the other was busy with the project. Buffy and Faith sat there, not knowing what to do.

“What the hell are we gonna make B?” Faith asked while looking around the table. She grabbed the scissors and started cutting various shaped out of paper. Buffy started to giggle as she tried to join in on making the project. They just started gluing random things together. Buffy started putting glue in random spots, and then poured glitter all over their attempt of a project. Faith looked at her and raised her eyebrow questioningly.

“What? Everything needs sparkles. They make things pretty,” Buffy tried to reassure her. Faith looked over at Willow and Tara who were also just kind of gluing things together. She noticed how they kept glancing at each other, and how the other would blush every time one accidentally touched the other person.

Look at that. Red might actually be interested in T. Maybe things will work out for her after all! Faith thought while gluing a few more colorful things here and there.

After another five minutes had passed, and the attempts at art projects were done, Buffy went off and got some girl who could tell them which one she liked more.

“What are they?” The girl with brown hair and a name tag with the name Kate on it asked.

“Um, w-well. W-we’re not exactly s-sure on that. Th-there art,” Tara said with a nervous smile.

“Right, well neither of them are very good. But if I have to choose, I’ll pick that one because it has sparkles on it,” Kate said while pointing at Buffy and Faith’s art.

“Yay, I told you the sparkles would make it pretty,” Buffy said while practically leaping at Faith and hugging her in celebration. She turned around to walk back to her seat, but Faith wrapped her arms around her waist and pulled her onto her lap. Now that she had her there, she wasn’t going to let her leave.

“I wouldn’t call it pretty but yeah,” Kate replied while she looked at Willow from top to bottom. “Bye,” she gave her a smile as she walked away.

“Wow Red, she totally just checked you out,” Faith said while letting go of Buffy’s waist. She smiled when Buffy didn’t get up to leave.

“Haha, what? No she didn’t. I’m sure it was more of a ‘haha look at her; all geeky and stuff’ type a look. Or maybe she was actually checking out Tara, but her eyes are all weird so it looked like she was checking me out. I mean Tara’s more check outable than I am.” The moment the words left her mouth she wished they hadn’t. She looked over at Tara who was looking down at her feet. Oh great, color me obvious. Why don’t you just tell her she’s a hotty to her face you stupid dope? Now she’s all uncomfortable. Good going Willow.

“Uh, yeah. Well we should be going. We have to pay our bet debt before dinner and stuff so we better go do that now. Are you coming Tara?” Willow said, trying to avoid everyone’s eyes.

“W-what? Oh, uh yeah. L-let’s go,” Tara smiled as she grabbed the art and headed out into the rain.

The rain was cold and very uncomfortable. Willow and Tara stood silently in the rain, avoiding each other’s eyes. Suddenly thunder roared and lightening struck, causing Willow to jump into Tara. Tara grabbed Willow’s hand again and held the other one above Willow’s head.

“What are you doing?” Willow said, more focused on the fact that Tara was only inches away from her than she was on the thunder and lightening.

“I’m protecting you from the storm,” Tara replied, keeping her hand above Willow’s head. Willow smiled at Tara, who smiled back.

“Oh they are sooo digging eachother,” Faith said as she watched the two from the window.

“Who? Willow and Tara? No way man, Willow’s straight,” she replied as she walked over next to Faith and looked at Willow and Tara through the window. “Yeah ok. They are totally digging eachother.”

Now don't go saying that. This was a nice update. I think it moved the story along and gave us more of a glimpse into the feeling W and T are developing for each other. In addition, it showed us a Buffy that didn't freak at the prospect of W "digging" T. So that is of the good.

It's a cute story. Keep it up. Hope there's an update soonish.

Frivolous Views

Car, considering I've seen eight chapters posted in one day, I don't think that'll be an issue.

Yay for very fast updateness! It's a cute story. Not really very intense, a little angst due to misunderstandings but it's very minimal. You don't go too hugely in depth with the explanations, but it's kind of refreshing. The story is just lighthearted, kinda fluffy, and cute.

Perfect for someone who's just gotten through reading an angst-overload fic like mine.

Having read all 8 chapters of Summer Camp which you've posted so far, I have to say that it is just adorable and captures both the dynamic between not only Willow/Tara but Buffy and Faith as well.
My favorite part so far was the baseball game in which both Willow and Buffy display their lack of team spirit by rooting for Tara and Faith respectively.
Both couples are inching their way forward towards full-on touch-feely goodness once both have experienced the sparkage recognition factor.
Yum to Willow/Tara standing out in the pouring rain, their t-shirts clinging to their skin and accentuating thier curves and big rock candy mountains.

Chapter 9

Willow and Tara got back to their cabin later that night soaking wet. They both got dressed in their pj’s, and walked over to the bunk bed. Tara stood beside her bed rubbing her arms for warmth.

“Oh my god Tara, you’re shaking,” Willow said as she rushed over to Tara and unconsciously started to rub her arms.

“J-just a little c-cold. You know, all th-that rain probably w-wasn’t the best thing for me,” Tara replied, incredibly aware that Willow was touching her.

“Oh Tara, this is all my fault. You were all protecting me from the rain because I was a big scared-y cat, and now you’re all cold. Oh my god, what if you get hypothermia? What if you protecting me in the rain caused you to get hypothermia and die? I can’t have that! I’d never be able to live with myself! That’s it missy, you’re getting into bed, and getting under the covers! And you are taking my extra set of blankets because I will not let you die!” Willow responded all wide-eyed and scared.

“W-willow, I don’t think that my protecting you f-from the rain did anything. I w-would have still been standing in the r..” Tara was cut off by Willow pushing her into the bed. She climbed up to the top bunk, retrieved her extra blanket and wrapped it around Tara. She continued rubbing her arms, trying her best to warm Tara up.

“There, how does that feel?” Willow asked with a look of concern in her eye. This girl is so special.

“Uh, w-warm. I f-feel warm,” Tara replied, totally forgetting about the cold. Everything she had was focused one the woman kneeling above her. Willow lowered her head and pressed her lips against Tara’s forehead.

“Goodnight Tara, I hope you feel better tomorrow,” Willow said, trying to calm her nerves down at the same time.

“Yeah goodnight Willow, sweet dreams.”

“I just don’t know though. I mean, Willow’s not gay. She use to have a boyfriend. A serious one! Oh, and she liked that guy at the camp, told me so herself!” Buffy said as she walked into cabin 9.

“Oh come on B, you saw them together. They were totally into each other. They were holding hands in the rain, Tara’s hand above Willow’s head, my guess to protect her or something. I didn’t really get that! But the rain being all romantic, and them with the looking into each other’s eyes. I’m telling ya, there is no way they are not digging each other!” Faith replied as she jumped onto the bottom bunk.

“First of all Faith, you fought so hard for that top bunk, so go lie on it or something. Second of all, I think they were just caught in the moment! I don’t think they actually like each other… that way. Plus, Willow likes some guy from camp. She can’t be gay if she likes a guy. And I’m like her bestest friend in the whole world. She’d tell me if she was gay! We tell each other everything!”

“Right. Who is this camp guy? Have you ever seen him? I mean, what’s his last name? She probably just made him up to hide her feelings. Oh and about the you telling each other everything, I don’t see you tell her you’re gay, B!” Faith replied as she hopped off of the bottom bunk and started to put on her shoes.

“What? I am not gay! What made you think I was gay?” Buffy said as nervously started to pace the room.

“Ok B, first of all chill. Second of all, I have gone to this summer camp for the last 4 years just to hang out with Tara. Do you know what I end up doing all summer? I scan women, and I try to figure out which ones are gay. Trust me B, I’ve gotten pretty good at it. Now you were a tough one to rate, but now it’s clear that you are obviously gay.” Faith replied as she tied up the laces.

“But why? Why do you think that? I mean, I know myself, and I am not gay! I mean I don’t have a problem with gay people, I’m just not one of them!”

“Alright, well you’ve got mega muscle, meaning you probably play a lot of sports, or at least do a lot of physically challenging workout stuff, you wear sneakers all the time, and are always wearing pants, not that that necessarily means anything, plus you’ve checked me out at least 8 times since we got back to the cabin. So yeah, I’d like to continue this conversation, but unfortunately I have to go. I’ll catch ya later B,” Faith winked at Buffy before heading out the door towards the woods again.

Where the hell does she keep going? She has gone out to those woods every night since we’ve been here. Maybe I should follow her! No, that’s totally being stalkery, and invading of her privacy! Awe screw it! Buffy thought as she got her shoes on and followed after Faith. She walked down a path through the woods until she finally spotted Faith. She was sitting on a rock that looked out on the lake.

“So this is where you go every night,” Buffy said causing Faith to jump. She walked over and sat down beside Faith.

“Buffy, geeze. You nearly gave me a heart attack! What are you doing out here?” Faith replied.

“I decided to go for a stroll. So, what’s up with this place? I mean, why do you come here every night?” Buffy asked as she slid closer to Faith.

“Haha well, you’re gonna laugh at me B,” Faith replied.

“No, I promise that I won’t laugh. Scouts honor, even though I was never a scout! Uh, camp mates honor?”

“Ok, well. The fireflies come out this time of night. It’s beautiful watching them fly over the lake. I know I don’t really look it, but I’m a big romantic. And if you tell anyone that, I’ll drown you in the lake.” Faith and Buffy sat there a while just watching the fireflies over the lake.

“Wow, you’re right. It is beautiful!” Buffy said as she turned to face Faith. Faith looked at Buffy and they slowly began to lean into each other. They stopped with their lips only centimeters away. After what seemed like forever, Faith finally closed the gap between them. They slowly began to move their lips as Faith brought her hand up to Buffy’s cheek. The kiss was slow and romantic. After a minute or two, Faith pulled back and gave Buffy the smile that she loved. They turned back and continued to watch the fireflies over the lake as Buffy slid her hand into Faith’s.

*squeals* awwww that was awesome.. im a sucker for faith/buffy luvin.. keep it up hun!

It's ahead warp factor 5, I know wrong series but hey, with the adorableness of Willow and her raging babble/angst fest over Tara and those naughty chillblains.
Willow instinctively rubbing Tara's shoulders to warm her up could her hands move around and warm up Tara's cleavage and her hard nipples like secret searchlights visible through the now soaken blouse.
Blankety goodness followed by a kiss of endearing tenderness and love deeper than the Marianas Trench.
Buffy in full-on denial mode is a sight to see.
Nice to see the softer side of Faith-the large with the butchness a defensive posture which she only sheds around buffy and they win the which couple kisses first prize

I just caught up with this fic and I gotta say I love it.

At first I wasn't sure, with Buffy and her tons of luggages, but then you brought Willow-babble and I felt right at home!

For a moment I thought Faith was sneaking out to slay..

Anyway, camp actually looks fun for once

and the cute but obvoiusly sweet gesture of willow wanting to protect tara now... Look I and and and the of joy. And look at me go...
and oh cant forget on how you brought Buffy into the light on her attraction towards Faith.God say what you want about Faith she is still our oh so butch and cute as hell in her wanting and going after Buffy in a way only Faith can.
So my next question is so freakin obvious but Im going to ask anyway.
When is the next update and will Tara be the one to kiss Willow first? I think it should be Tara who kisses Willow.That woul;d send our favorite redhead into such a state of babble,hey yeah where is my willowbabble?
Need at least onefull paragraph of willowbabble per update thank you very much. and yes I have updated 'all in my head' so go read and reply if you feel complelled to do so.

The snuggling is really cute, and I am glad the storm brings the ladies closer together.

Chapter 10

Buffy woke up for the second morning in a row with Faith in her arms. She was just about to internally scold Faith while denying that she liked Faith lying in her arms when the events from last night popped into her head.

I kissed her, or did she kiss me? Whatever, we kissed. And I’m totally not freaking out about it! I actually quite enjoyed it. I want to do it again. Grgh, why is she still sleeping? Buffy thought as she snuggled closer to Faith. At that moment, Faith opened her eyes and saw Buffy cuddled up against her.

“Hey, B. Not that I’m not enjoying the closeness or anything, but you’re uh… you’re kinda cutting off my air supply,” Faith said as she tried to steady her breathing. Buffy let go, and Faith inhaled deeply, enjoying the ability to breathe again. Faith got off the bed and headed for her duffel bag.

“Oh Faith, I’m sorry. I just wanted to snuggle with you, I wasn’t trying to kill you or anything,” Buffy replied as she watched Faith get out her toothbrush, and toothpaste and walk over to the sink. She turned on the tap and poured water over the end of the toothbrush. She then put on some toothpaste and began to brush her teeth.

“Oh, rey B, rit’s not a rig roblem owa anyhin,” Faith tried to say with the toothbrush in her mouth. Buffy couldn’t really understand what Faith was saying, so she just lifted her eyebrow in question. Faith ran and spit the toothpaste into the sink.

“Sorry, I said… Oh hey B, it’s not a big problem or anything! It’s not like I didn’t enjoy the cuddliness of you, I just figured I’d like it better if I wasn’t dead,” Faith replied as she continued to brush her teeth. Buffy got off of the bed, grabbed her toothbrush, and joined Faith in the bathroom. They both stood there brushing their teeth in an awkward silence. Faith ran her toothbrush under the water, put it away, and waited for Buffy to finish brushing her teeth. The moment her toothbrush was down, Faith pushed Buffy against the bathroom wall and pressed their lips together. After only about 4 seconds, Faith pulled back.

“Sorry, I wanted to do that all morning,” Faith said while staring into Buffy eyes. Buffy didn’t say anything; she just smiled and pulled Faith’s face towards hers. This time the kiss was more passionate. They opened and closed their mouths at a fairly quick pace. Faith rested one hand on Buffy’s cheek, and the other on the wall behind Buffy’s head for balance. Buffy chose that moment to sneak her tongue into Faith’s mouth, causing her to moan. She was just about to deepen the kiss when a knock at the door caused them both to jump.

“Shit, why does that keep happening?” Faith said while walking out of the bathroom. She opened the door and saw Jenny Calendar, one of the camp counselors, standing outside her cabin.

“Faith, nice to see ya again,” Jenny said as she lifted her ‘camp counselor’ hat and wiped the sweat off of her forehead.

“God it’s a humid day! Anyways, the reason I stopped by is we need some help setting stuff up, and we kind of need someone strong to do some of the lifting, and your name popped into my head. So, do you think you can come out and give us a hand?” Jenny continued.

“Yeah, just gimme a sec,” Faith replied as she shut the door and ran into the bathroom to where Buffy was still standing.

“Hey, B. I gotta go and help set stuff up. So I’ll see you later ok?” Faith said as she chastely pressed her lips against Buffy’s and ran out the door.

Buffy stood there with a grin on her face. God that girl is wonderful, she thought as she walked over to the door and got her shoes on. She decided that she should go talk to Willow about everything that was happening. After all, Willow was her best friend, and she did tell her everything!

Willow awoke the next morning to the sound of loud coughing. She sat up in her bed and remembered how Tara had gotten sick from protecting her in from the rain. She jumped off of the top bunk, not even bothering to use the ladder, and rush to Tara’s side.

“Oh my god Tara, are you ok? I heard all of the coughing and you sound sick and it is all my fault. I’m sorry,” Willow said sadly, praying to god that nothing would happen to Tara.

“W-willow, don’t worry. I’m fine. I’m just a little *cough* stuffy. I think I’m just going to rest a little w-while longer,” Tara replied, smiling at the redhead’s concern.

“Nope, I’m not taking that chance. You are getting out of this bed and you are going to see the camp nurse. Come on,” Willow said while grabbing Tara’s hand and dragging her out of the bed. She pulled her over to the door and handed her her shoes.

“Uh Willow, as much as I enjoy h-holding your hand and all, I n-need both hands to tie my shoes,” Tara said while giving Willow the half smile that she loved.

“What? Oh yeah. Ah, sorry Tara, I didn’t even realize that I was still holding your hand. I was thinking about how I would be sad if you died and so I lost all realization of my holding of your hand. But now that I realize that I am still holding your hand and now that I am not lost in my thoughts about sadness of your death I can let your hand go and let you tie your shoes, a task that you need both hands for. So, now I am letting go.” Willow pulled her hand back and put it in her pocket.

Oh very smooth Willow. You could have just let her hand go, but instead you make an hour long speech about letting her hand go while still holding her hand. And the award for the world’s biggest nerd goes to…

“Alright, I’ll see you later Willow,” Tara said as she opened the door. She was just about to leave the cabin when Willow slipped her hand into hers and pulled her back.

“What do you mean ‘I’ll see you later’? I’m going with you!” Willow replied, slightly offended that Tara didn’t want her to go with her.

“Well no, I just th-thought… I uh, I j-just don’t want you to miss breakfast. You know, it being the most important meal of the day and all. And plus, I am a big girl. I don’t need someone to walk me to the nurse,” Tara replied while letting go of her hand. Tara, no! That sounded like you didn’t want her there. You sooo want her there. What are you doing? Tell her to go with you.

“Bye Willow, I’ll see you later!” Tara leaned over and kissed Willow on the cheek. She then began her walk to the nurse’s cabin, leaving a blushing, speechless Willow standing inside the cabin alone.

After about ten minutes of standing there, Willow shut the door and walked over to Tara’s bed. She positioned herself underneath Tara’s blankets while nuzzling her pillow.

Mmm, it smells like Tara. God she smells good! Oh, I wish there was a Tara perfume that I could buy. I would spray my entire house with it; I would spray everything I own with it so everywhere I go I’d smell her. I shall be the inventor of “Tara Perfume”, but then again, no spray could match the sweetness of her.

Willow’s thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. She jumped out of Tara’s bed and opened the door.

“Hey,” Willow said as she stepped to the side and allowed the blonde to enter the cabin.

“Hey Willow, I need to talk to you,” Willow’s best friend replied as she kicked off her shoes and walked over to the beds.

“What do you want to talk about Buff?” She asked while joining Buffy on the Tara’s bed.

“Well, about a couple of things. Mainly Faith and Tara, but I’m not sure which to say first. Ok, first, let’s talk about Tara.”

“Tara? W-what about her? You don’t dislike her do you Buff? Because she’s a really good person and I think that if you got to know her better then you really would like her. I mean I know she’s all shy and kinda stuttery and stuff, but I find that actually kind of cute. Not cute as in ‘hey Buffy, she’s cute, I want to have her babies’ but I mean, the shy, stuttery thing is what I like about her. It’s a nice change from all those crazy, rude, yell-y people back in Sunnydale. And we’re becoming really good friends so please try to like her because I don’t want things to become all weird with the you not liking her and not wanting to hang around with her, but wanting to hang out with me, so you hang out with both of us but you’re all annoyed ‘cuz you have to hang out with her so things are all awkward and then I’d have to chose sides, and I don’t want to have to chose sides. I’m more of a middle person myself. I’ve never really liked sides. I mean them being all side-y and all. Ugh, I just really like her!”

“Whoa, Will. Settle. I never said I didn’t like her. I actually think she’s a really nice person and I’m happy you made a new friend. But that last part of your eight hour ramble was kinda what I wanted to talk to you about. The ‘you really liking her’ thing. When you say you really like her, how much is really?” Buffy said while trying her hardest not to laugh at Willow’s speech.

“What do you mean? She’s a really good friend and I like her a lot,” Willow replied while trying to figure out if Buffy had figured it out.

“Yeah, I know you two are friends, which is good, but I’ve been your best friend for several years now, and I can kind of tell when you like someone,” Buffy said while reminding herself that she had no clue; that it was in fact Faith who pointed it out to her.

“What are you talking about? I liked Oz for three months before you figured out I liked him, and that was only because you found my “Willow + Oz” paper heart that I kept in my binder.” Willow replied as she got off the bed.

“Well yeah, but I kinda figured, I just didn’t want to say incase I was wrong. Willow, it’s ok if you like her. I mean there’s nothing wrong with it. In fact I even…”

“I DON’T LIKE TARA,” Willow interrupted. She noticed that the look on Buffy’s face went from wonder to dread. Willow turned around and saw Tara standing in the doorway looking down at her shoes.

“I uh… th-the nurse s-said that uh… that I just n-need bed rest. I uh…” Tara turned around and ran out the door.

“Tara,” Willow said as she stood by the door in shock. She felt as though she couldn’t even move.

Oh my god, what just happened? She thinks that I said that I don’t like her. Well I mean, I did say that, but she’s going to take it the wrong way. Oh god, I feel sick. Willow thought while taking one last look at Buffy and running out the door; not even bothering to put her shoes on. God what have I done?

Great story...so cute I am even able to forget that these babes are all too old for camp...but really Willow and Tara need to get over themselves and just admit it already...this is just needless suffering...and do our girls really deserve that?
