No, it's not you. Those are all polls from ezboard, so they don't work here at a phpBB board. Only polls created here can be voted on here.

only new polls work that way, the rest just transfered over as archive. If you like a particular old poll, you could redo it again.

something else I just noticed. The poll "What season is it" keeps having an error come up saying Only regestered members can vote. I am logged in. Is this something that can be fixed?

I was reading a couple fics in the Completed Fics Archive and they both cut off in the middle of the story so the ending wasn't there. The stories are Alexina: Beloved by karenk and Reflections in Raindrops by TrueXena and Shadowriter. Thanks.

I don't know if this was brought to someone's attention, and I apologize if it has, but I thought it should be mentioned.

After we transfered things, we realized this had happened to some fics. It was the main purpose of this thread

viewtopic.php?t=3089

Thanks for making me aware of this, if anyone has a full copy I would appreciate this. Unfortunately, ezboard has completely imploded and it deleted all of old pens. I will try to fix what I can... later. If you see any others, post here or in the other thread.

Xita

I'd like to help. It looks like most of the stories are still hanging around the old board. I just snagged Darkness Falls and Reunited today and saved them. Let me know where I can send them and what format you'd like them in (.rtf, .doc, .html).

If anyone else notices other stories that have similar problems, I'd be happy to try and retrieve them as well.

I remember there being a program that could save websites. HTML, images, text, etc. It's called Teleport Pro. I'm not sure if it'll work with the old board software, but may be worth a shot? I'll look into it today and let you know.

Hiya,

I dunno if anyone else has had problems posting to TiE today, but when I try to post I get the message:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@thekittenboard.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

er...sorry...

Hey, fid. Are you having that problem right now? I noticed the board seemed to have a couple of blips earlier, probably 12 hours ago or so (afternoon, central time in the US). Everything seems fine now. I test posted in TIE and it went through fine.

There are just some times when the server does weird things and if you're trying to post right when it decides to be bitchy, you'll get that internal server error. Shouldn't be a regular occurrence, though. Please post again or mail/PM me if it keeps happening.

Hi Maudmac,

Yeah, I'm still getting that message. Is it my poetry thread in TiE? I've been trying to post some replies to no avail all evening. I just tried again 5min. ago. I'm on US pst.

Thanks for the help,

Strange. You can post fine here, just not in your poetry thread on TIE. I test posted in your thread and TIE and your particular thread both seem to be fine, to me at least.

Something like this happened to someone trying to post on Pens once. No problem with general posting, just a problem posting one certain thing in one certain thread. I think she tried using different browsers. Nothing worked and then for no apparent reason, the post just suddenly magically went through one of the times.

I don't know that it would do one bit of good, but there's always the old "clear your cache and delete your cookies" thing. That seems to be the answer for everything. (Not.) But it can't hurt to try, I suppose, even if the only good it does is to make you feel like you're doing something.

I can always post it for you, using the Repost Moderator, if you want/need it posted immediately. Downside, you won't be able to edit that post. But the offer's always open to anyone having posting problems.

I'm sorry this is happening. I wish I knew more.

Hiya Maudmac,

Thanks for the help. It went thru finally. I tried the different browsers (Mozilla, Netscape, & IE), and nothing seemed to work. I was cutting and pasting the text from a saved file (strangely, the problem persisted when the file was either .doc or .txt) and apparently that was the problem ( really, this has never been a problem before). Retyped the message & it went thru. It seems the internet faeries prefer my typos.

Sorry sorry sorry for bothering you.
Again, thanks for the help.

Oh my! Please don't be sorry! I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

So, you were copying/pasting, huh? I do that all the time and have never had a problem. Hmm...maybe not from a saved file, though. I don't know what difference that would make. I'll poke around later when I have more time and see if there's any reason for that being a problem. I can't imagine what it could be.

Maybe the server gods just decided to frown on you for a while. Lord knows they've frowned on me a time or two. Server god face - - > :happy

Glad your post finally went through.

That happend to me. Holley, were you thinking about that time I couldn't post more than a thousand odd words or some small number like that and you managed to get 7000+ words in a post? I ended up cutting my fic up and triple posting. It came back as suddenly as it started going wonky though. Sometimes you gotta keep trying, or give it a few mins and try again.

Yep, it was you I was thinking of. So very odd and I never figured out why I was able to post your whole post in one post, but you had to break it up.

These things seem to be specific to certain people when they happen. I was having trouble getting the main page yesterday and I thought the board was about to blow up or something, but it didn't seem anyone else was having problems. On another board I post at, that's like this one (phpBB), I'm the only one who consistently gets timed out when I try to do anything. I've done the cache-and-cookie thing and it made no difference. Still timing out for me at least half the time. It's frustrating, especially so because I am the only one so affected. That server god over there makes this face at me - :no and then this one - :sleep

I think I would die if I had that problem here. But the point is, it has to be something going on at my end because I'm the only one with that problem.

So maybe there is something going on with each of your ISPs at certain times maybe? Or there is a family of tiny little ferrets living inside your computers rolling around and playing right on top of your fic and poetry files.

If either of you keeps running into this same problem, let me know. I like to think there's got to be a way to help if it keeps happening. As long as the trouble is happening only rarely, I'd say watson's right - you just have to be patient and try again.

I'm using Firefox and I don't even have to click on the Go button. Just selecting an option automatically takes me to it.

Are you sure you're selecting the forums properly?

For example:

The Kitten
-------------------
The Kitten
Genuine Molded Plastic
The Inward Eye
Polls

The first "The Kitten" (above the line) won't take you anywhere, it's just telling you the category those forums are in. The second "The Kitten" will take you to the Kitten forum.

Try that and let us know if you still have any problems.

Ditto for me. Not having problems.

Make sure you look closely at the page you're on...since all of the pages look incredibly similar, you may not have even noticed that it switched over.

I am trying to get a fix on what the phpbb limit is for character count on a post, I haven't quite gotten to the bottom of that and if it's a database issue. I would prefer not to mess with it if it is a Mysql issue.

I did read that copying from a document such as word will mess with the characters. Try breaking up your post into 2 if you keep having issues.

Um....er.....hi there. I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask about this but, I have sort of a problem. My problem is, that there is a spelling mistake in the title of one of my fics. The title reads Simple Matters (sequal to A Different Life) and it should be...if I hadn't screwed it up Simple Matters (sequel to A Different Life) I'm unable to edit it because my screen name is slightly different. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Or would it be possible for one of you lovely Mods to fix it? It's a little thing...but it's been bugging me for a long time.

I was reading some of my favourite fics on the W/T completed fics archive when I noticed that there were a couple of problems with the Reflections in Raindrops thread by TrueXena and Shadowriter. It jumps from the 5th part to the 9th and the end of the fic seems to have been lost in the change from the old board to the new board.
Is it possible to fix it?

(I so should learn to start saving fics on disc :sob)
