I agree that the talk was short. In real life it probably would have taken hours but that wouldn’t be any fun to read or write. I don’t mean to sound glib but it was a pretty straightforward conversation.

Agreed. To turn a phrase, truth is often more boring than fiction. Gotta keep the story moving, which I am ALL FOR. Woo hoo!

Irene73 – Seven is such a cool age. They haven’t yet figured out that they know more than you and are still little enough to snuggle. Oh man, making more fudge is the last damn thing I need. I tried to cancel the tradition last year but Rachel’s family was all like, “well just make some for me but not anyone else.” Right, let me make a few pounds of fudge for people who don’t like me but ignore all my friends and family?

GayNowWhipped – Gee. Usually when I see a Blessed Wannabe with 1 post I say all kinds of “I’m so honored to be your first post…” stuff. In this case though…

My codolences to your brother. I don't know if that's worse though. I mean, I was (am???) the lesbian pastor's kid who threw caution to the wind and made *quite* a reputation for myself. :dance There are reasons I don't visit home very often. Hehe.

But I agree with you on the matter that she did go on a reality show that is watched by millions of people...an autograph here and there and recognition is to be expected.

Hmm...I might be a little bit excited about the next update...and I'm sure you understand about double checking the Tuesday/Wednesday update.. I mean, I had to try.

Hi Deb! I've probably thought this about every update, but THIS ONE is my favorite! I had to go back and read some of the earlier "real world" segments, and I love the way everything is starting to come full circle. Knowing how they left things on the island makes their early steps toward starting a relationship that much more interesting (not that they weren't already). As bad as Tara felt voting Willow off, I'm glad she stuck by her alliance, cause it says alot about her character, and I think Willow appreciates that. It also means I was right in an earlier prediction, and I am not above gloating. :-D I think that any bad feelings Willow may have had would have been due to realizing she had less Tara-time.

if you knew then what you know now, would you have voted Faith off?
:hmm This kinda blew my earlier expectations out of the water, cause all along I've thought (or blindly hoped) that Tara was in the final two. Now I'm thinking that if Faith wins the final immunity, she'd have to be an idiot to take Tara with her. Kendra however, is the classic coattail-rider (no offense to her, but that's how I see it), and if it came down to the two of THEM, Faith would be much more likely to garner votes based on how well she played the game, even from those whose toes she'd stomped on along the way. Having said this, it'll probably be a Tara/Robin final, and I'll look like a putz. Whatever...it wouldn't be the first time. Thanks, Deb!

Well, I read this update right after you posted it because I was all like :applause :bounce :-D yay! It's updated! But then I was reading it but I was supposed to be somewhere and I think I was very close to being very late, so I did not leave feedback... until now! mwa ha ha! :devil

I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me.

But anyway, I LOVED the update! First of all,
I’m proud of you anyway because you did what you said you were going to do.” She looked thoughtful for a moment. “Although… do you regret not voting off Faith now? I mean if you knew then what you know now, would you have voted Faith off?”

What is that, missy? The part about regretting not voting Faith off? I know you put it in there to make all our heads spin... and it's working. Secondly, I love that Willow took Tara voting for her so well. I don't know if I would be that graceful if put in the same situation. It just shows how much she really does love Tara. :x

Now, the part about what *really* happened in the cabin... I must say you are a sneaky little genius. I really didn't see that one coming. For some reason, I just thought that that episode was going to be light on the smut because it is meant to be on TV, but really, you were being all sneaky. I love it! And the scene was so painful but heartwarming at the same time. Loved it.

wellllll, see, I was a new writer, and I posted this slightly quirky fic with an unusual twist. And I was so shy I hid myself so ya'll thought I was all mysterious and unknown. And people started telling me how great I was and stuff, so it got to my head, see? And then we moved boards and I decided to come out to play and it turns out I'm just a silly git, so well ... *loses train of thought as well as the plot* ... so, how about that Survivor fic, eh? I heard it's not bad .

AnirtakEnigma – Lol. Ok, again not promising anything but possibly I’ll update tomorrow (late?).

tarawhipped – Hey Cam. Just got around to your feedback. I wanted to do it but every time I would start, I would get interrupted. Lol about changing favorites. I get that a lot. Like you I reread some of the early real world updates recently and like the way it fits too. Thanks. I agree that it is important that Tara did vote Willow off and stayed true.
It also means I was right in an earlier prediction, and I am not above gloating.
Yay for you.

I agree that if Faith wins final immunity, she’s better sitting next to Robin or Kendra, neither of whom has particularly distinguished themselves in scheming. A putz? Seems unlikely. Good guesses. :evil

watersong84 – Mwa ha ha indeed!
I know you put it in there to make all our heads spin... and it's working.
That’s a big part of it. But also, these two are remarkably good about not talking Island business even when alone. Kind of unrealistic don’t you think?

Secondly, I love that Willow took Tara voting for her so well. I don't know if I would be that graceful if put in the same situation. It just shows how much she really does love Tara.
That and the fact that it’s been about 6 months so she’s over it.

Glad you liked the cabin. It was one of the parts that already lived in my head the night I came up with the RL interspersion. (Is that even a word?). Have a great day.

Watson
I was so shy I hid myself so ya'll thought I was all mysterious and unknown.
I still think you’re mysterious and unknown but that makes my life easy. Nothing to remember you see. “Hmmm. Watson, is she the one with the Harley Tattoo on her forehead or the father who loves Kung Fu movies? Darn now I have to go look that up.”

More importantly, you’re using “ya’ll” [sic] now? How does it feel? It’s a pretty awesome word isn’t it? Something that English has been missing but now you’ve found it.

Lol!!!!!

Hey!

Finally got a chance to read and reply! Im finished school now so I have time to read!

This was seriously adorable

“Sure,” Willow agreed holding up her palm toward Tara who was reaching for the phone, “but don’t you want to talk to her before you go to bed?”

Ariel paused. Finally she answered, “No. I think I’ll be mad at her until tomorrow but you hug her really good so she’s not sad, ok?”

Well, need to clean up my room. So guess I should get at that. Nice to see that they waited instead of giving in on the island. That was the month of no contact they went through? So...it was just W&T and not the actual cast? Just a thought. If im wrong feel free to tell me :P

Okay...bye!

update sooooooooon!

debra, it makes sense now that you held willow's early show for the current time storyline, would've been confusing if you'd presented it as you had the others since it's a real time thing for them now. loved ariel's timed anger, that was something we did at my house too. and willow wondering what tara's hand would be like, very sweet. and i am curious as to what song they are/were dancing to? did you know and not tell us or did you not plan it? either way, had to be something cheezy enough to hear on an elevator :)
flashback sequence, vivid and lovely, i esp. like willow's glimpsing skin while tara sways, anticipation is a wonderful thing. i was suprised that willow went along with the waiting period so easily, i would think during that hour in the woods she might have pressed her case a little, also would think tara would give her the digits (i'm sure our genius would find a way to remember them) instead of having to call the producers. i have a new (and i'm sure erroneous) theory, that kendra is in the final two. could be faith and tara, but also can see faith and kendra figuring out that tara would trump either of them in the voting, and take her out. but i see kendra winning the last immunity challenge and going to the finals. i can't see her winning the voting once she gets there, though. and if robin wins immunity again, then things will heat up even sooner.
it's very sad that this and watson's race are winding down at the same time, i'm going to miss them both. guess we need to get someone to write big brother or something (but first you'd have to get someone to watch it - ick).
and asher's teaching the dog the alphabet? so cute. i think you said early on in some fb that he didn't know his alphabet yet, and now he's turned educator - it just goes so damn fast doesn't it? ~mary

This just gets better and better! I wish the real Survivor show could be structured this way with the behind the scenes story - but then I guess it wouldn't be a 'reality' show.

I love the hints you give to keep us guessing. In this chapter Willow's comment to Tara about about voting against Faith... Hhhmmm is that in the next round to go from 4 to the final 3 or does Tara win the last immunity and get to choose who goes with her into the final 2? We will just have to tune in to find out!

You also tie the entire story together so well. The flashback to their date in the cabin when Willow won the challenge was a great reminder of everything that they had gone through and ties the beginning of the story right back in to the current episode. I had to go back and reread to make sure I remembered it. Yep - It's all coming together.

As always thanks for writing.

Comments, then short update. I know it’s off the Wednesday schedule but I thought we could get the updates aligned to Sunday since the theoretical show airs on Sunday. Plus which, it’s short…

Irene73 – I love cookies. Really. Actually love cookie dough much more than cooked cookies but I’d say pudding then cookies are my favorite sweet treats. Anyway, I don’t mean to make Rachel’s family sound too bad. They’re pretty nice to me now and I think actually may like or even love me. I just think it’s a pretty grudging acceptance after a few years or being jerks. It’s hard for me to get over that. You know? Actually I think that Rachel’s mother really got that I am a person with emotions, etc. as my mother was getting sicker and sicker and then when she died. Rachel’s family really surprised me by coming to my mothers memorial service.

I love that he does is carress my face when he's sleepy. He's done that since he was so little...awwww *sigh*.
That’s so wonderful. Asher sleeps with us and he snuggles up to me most of the time. I sometimes feel really sad at the thought of his growing up and not sleeping with us anymore.

Always410 – Yay for being done with school. It certainly frees up the hours doesn’t it? I’m glad you liked the Ariel parts. Yeah, I’m not really that great at waiting but sometimes it is the best thing.
That was the month of no contact they went through? So...it was just W&T and not the actual cast?
No you totally got it. But it was a few months (about 3), not just one.

meretricious – Hey there! Early show coming up. Glad it makes sense. Cool that you did the timed anger. I find it’s really helpful and can kind of make you feel like you’re being silly. Another thing I sometimes do is decide that I can complain to one person and then be done rather than telling everyone in the world whatever my complaint is.

i am curious as to what song they are/were dancing to? did you know and not tell us or did you not plan it?
Good question: Eric Clapton’s Wonderful. I’d link to it but I have absolutely no idea how to do that! I do take some level of offense at your characterization of the song as cheesy but I think that in general you are correct about elevator music. :grin

Thank you for noticing the vividness of the flashback.

also would think tara would give her the digits
I think that for Tara, it was part of the waiting plan. She wanted to make sure that it was something Willow would have to work a little at, make an effort for both of them? I think also that it wasn’t just Willow who she felt like was feeling too much too quickly. I think that part of Tara’s plan was to control herself. Make sense?

but also can see faith and kendra figuring out that tara would trump either of them in the voting, and take her out. but i see kendra winning the last immunity challenge and going to the finals.
Of course I say “good guess.” I also say that you are right and I think that either of them would be crazy to take Tara with them too the final two.

Big Brother: what a waste of time.

You are right: it goes so fast with Asher isn’t scary. He’s a riot though everyday.

FunGirl – I think I’ve seen your sign in (perhaps on the other board?). Either way welcome :wave and thanks for commenting. What’s ironic about your comment is that to me, the real life would be real “reality” TV rather than the structured and unnatural game on the island.

I’m glad you like the hints. I think that some people are intrigued by them and some people are kind of irritated.

does Tara win the last immunity and get to choose who goes with her into the final 2? We will just have to tune in to find out!
Yes. Whoever wins final immunity gets to pick their F2 opponent. I won’t say who that is though.

Glad you liked the flashback and that you felt it tied it together. That was my intention. As always, thanks for commenting.

The Early Show
Willow stands by Harry on the Early Show Survivor set. She is wearing a pair of slacks and a silk blouse. Tied around her throat is the same choker with the rainbow colored beads that she wore on the first Survivor episode. She glances sidewise and smiles in that direction as Harry announces, “And in a minute, we’ll have Willow Rosenberg, the most recent castaway voted off Survivor – Ash Island.” The show cuts to commercial.

When the show comes back, Willow is sitting in a chair across from Harry.

Show Clip – Willow directs the Akathla team to place the beams on the stands for the first challenge.

“Welcome, Willow.”

“Thanks, Harry,” Willow says, “I’m happy to be here.”

“Well, not happy. You were voted off last night and I can’t imagine that you were happy about that.”

She smiles. “You know it was hard watching that episode but it has been a while and I really accepted it a long time ago.”

“You made it very far into the game.”

Show Clip – Willow screams as she startles a frog. When everyone comes running she explains her fear of frogs and they all question her for going on the show.

“You went on this game even though you had never been camping nor done any survival activities didn’t you?”

Willow chuckles. “A friend dared me and it was something I’d never done. I really never thought I’d make it onto the show let alone make it 33 days. You know this game is something different than anyone watching at home can imagine. It’s fascinating and exhilarating and exhausting.”

Show Clip – Willow directing Faith and Kendra to put down the squares in the 5x5 puzzle.

“Your puzzle solving ability really came in handy for you and your teams in this game. On this game you really made a difference.”

“As Faith would say, it was five by five. Seriously though, I have always been good at puzzles. That’s a big part of why I got a degree in applied mathematics and why I work in computers. It’s all about solving puzzles.”

Show Clip – Willow solving the puzzle to win the reward challenge and the car. She jumps up and hugs Jeff after winning.

“In fact, your puzzle solving ability is what allowed you to win the car reward challenge.”

“Knowing that the final step in that challenge was a puzzle, I just really wanted to stay close. When I got to the puzzle and no one else was very far along yet, I knew I had a chance.”

Show Clip – Willow commenting to Amy and Buffy that she likes “the shy ones.” Willow and Tara holding hands as they watch the waves come in.

“Now when you won that challenge, you chose Tara to go with you and she won a vehicle also.”

Willow smiles widely. “I chose Tara because she was the player I most wanted to spend time with. The fact that she won a truck too was just icing on the cake.”

Harry glances over Willow’s head off screen for a moment. “While on the island you and Tara seemed to grow quite close. Is that something that has continued since you left the island?”

Willow looks puzzled at the commentator for a moment. “Tara and I had no contact for the first few months after the game ended. Then I called her and it was like we’d never been apart.”

“Has that been difficult?” Harry asks.

“The relationship? Or people’s reaction to it?”

“The reaction.”

“If you let them,” Willow says, “people can be pretty cool. We’ve found fans coming out the woodwork and 9 out of 10 say how impressed they are with us and how happy we seem.”

“You just missed being in the final four,” Harry says, “but Tara is in it. How does that feel?”

“Tara and I were playing different games. By the time I left the island I knew what I was getting out of the experience and it was all I could ever hope for in life.”

“Well, Congratulations,” Harry says. He turns to the camera and says, “That’s Willow Rosenberg, the latest person voted off Survivor – Ash Island. We’ll see her and the other castaways this Sunday night at 10, 9 Central for the Survivor reunion show following the special two-hour Survivor finale.”

--

Live with Regis and Kelly

Regis and Kelly are schmoozing as they drink their coffee. “You know who else is on?” Regis asks. “Willow,” he tells Kelly without waiting for her to answer.

“Oh,” Kelly says, “from Survivor.”

Show Clip – Willow and Tara are retrieving the tree mail. Wondering if she will be voted off, the redhead leans forward and kisses Tara.

Willow comes out to applause and shakes Regis and Kelly’s hands before taking a seat. “Welcome, Willow,” Regis says, “you just were voted off Survivor – Ash Island last night.”

Show Clip – Jeff reading the final vote and announcing that Willow is the 12th person voted off and the fifth jury member.

“That must have been pretty hard?” Kelly says.

“It’s always hard to put so much into anything, but I had 33 pretty incredible days on the island and it was one of the best experiences of my life.”

“While on the island,” Regis says, “you seemed to have a little of a flirtation going on with Tara.”

“More than a flirtation I’d say,” Kelly chimes in.

“I didn’t make any secret of my interest in her even when I was on the other team.”

“Did you worry that you’d be seen as a weak link and voted off for it?”

“You know, I really didn’t. Maybe I was naive or maybe I got lucky but I really thought that everyone would see it as being outside the game. What you don’t realize until you do something like this that nothing is outside the game.”

“You know,” Regis says, “it’s hard to tell from watching the show whether you and Tara are really interested in each other or if that’s part of the game too. I mean maybe she just wants you in her alliance and maybe you just want to ride her bond with Faith and Kendra to the final four. The viewer couldn’t tell.”

“Especially since she voted you off last night,” Kelly adds. “That makes it seem like she was just using you for the extra vote all along.”

“Everyone plays their game on the island,” Willow concedes, “but I know how Tara feels about me and I know why she did what she did.”

“In fact,” Kelly says, “you are currently in a relationship. Is that right?”

Willow smiles at the two hosts. “Yes.”

“Although you live in Atlanta and she lives in Ohio,” Regis prompts next. “So you’re in a long distance relationship?”

“We’re coordinating our visits pretty carefully, but our priorities are Tara’s daughter and spending as much time together as we can.”

“Now you’re on this jury,” Regis says, “can you tell us if you were able to vote for Tara to win the million dollars.”

Willow chuckles. “In order to do that, I’d have to say if she made the final two which I can’t do.”

“Well, everyone can find out who wins the million dollars this Sunday night. Thanks for coming to visit with us, Willow.” Regis shakes her hand followed by Kelly and Willow leaves the set after waving to the audience.

Family Corner: More than a Game by Pepper Watson
Well, those who watch television and count the number of gay characters on both reality and scripted television had a new set of characters to watch this season on Survivor – Ash Island. The eleventh incarnation of this former television phenomenon, reduced to “what else is on?” status in recent seasons, has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity and it’s due in no small part to the developing relationship between two of the contestants.

Like Rob and Amber’s (from Survivor – All Stars for those of you who didn’t watch Survivor – All Stars, The Amazing Race 7, or Rob & Amber get Married and have been living under rocks for the past few months), this relationship has blossomed under the intense scrutiny of a nation of reality TV fans as well as the other competitors on the show.

CBS has been hesitant to focus on this developing relationship. Why you ask? Because the people in the relationship are two women: Willow Rosenberg, a software mogul and self-identified single lesbian from Atlanta, GA and Tara Maclay, a single mother from Columbus, OH. While Rosenberg’s online bio and three minute submission tape practically screams: Atlanta’s hottest love-em-and-leave-em family member, Tara’s makes no mention of her sexual preference. While she repeatedly refers to herself as a “single mother” she makes no other reference to any relationship history (causing some fans to speculate that the adorable “Ariel” is the product of an immaculate conception).

We must give points to CBS for showing the relationship at all. Certainly they have plenty of footage to edit into forty-four minutes each week without even letting us know that Tara and Willow exist. (Look how long silent Jen stayed silent on Survivor 10). Instead they’ve shown us a few sweet kisses and a “what happened when the light went out?” reward outing.

But we want to know.

What happened when the lights went out?

In the beginning, this relationship seemed to be all Willow. The first episode found her wearing a rainbow colored choker and confiding in her new tribe mates that she “liked the shy ones.” Their blasé acceptance of her coming out seemed a good sign for her future in the game (if anything ever was). And besides, she and her tribe mates were clearly in the process of “meat marketing” the opposition rather than discussing lasting relationships. Or perhaps everyone but Willow was doing that.

Later installments saw the quick-witted redhead flirting with the object of her affection, solving puzzle challenges seemingly single-handed for her team, and showing shock at the revelation that Tara had a child. Her shock at the revelation of Tara’s status as mother was short-lived as the redhead ascertained that Tara did not have a husband waiting at home.

While some seemed to doubt Tara’s interest in a relationship, Willow was not one of them. She continued her pursuit of the blonde, intentionally forgoing a steak dinner for fish to share her company and making no secret of her interests. When a surprise twist in the game brought Willow to Tara’s MFashnek tribe, their contact increased.

Given CBS’s editorial policies last year concerning the lesbian kisses shared by Ami and her partner and Scout and her partner respectively, we might have expected the network to similarly omit the sweet and impulsive kiss shared by our heroines while retrieving tree mail. Subsequent episodes showed a surprising lack of interest by the other competitors in the emerging relationship and perhaps alliance. While Tara was already in a strong alliance, Willow appeared ready to ride the blonde’s coat tails to success. Tara was seen by some as crafty for bringing the super-smart Willow in for an easy vote as a mini-alliance member.

Unlike the Rob & Amber or Gregg & Jen relationships in recent seasons, no one really entertained the possibility that together these competitors formed too strong a pair. Perhaps that was because they were both women, perhaps because everyone assumed (incorrectly) that Willow would return to her alliance with former tribe mate Buffy, or perhaps because everyone assumed (correctly) that Tara would remain true to her original alliance, no one seemed to fear this couple. While suspicions and resentment festered for Buffy when Willow chose Tara to accompany her on an overnight reward challenge, the game’s other competitors viewed the relationship as an amusement or a game strategy but not a serious threat.

Given the events of this past Thursday, an episode which saw Willow voted off by a vote of 4-1 including a vote from her “girlfriend?”, it would seem that those who doubted Tara’s feelings may have been right.

Or were they?

We had the opportunity to visit with Willow Rosenberg Friday afternoon.

Hi. Thanks for agreeing to talk with us.
No problem. You know I really like Pepper and Family Corner is my favorite feature. I especially loved your coverage of the Lovebirds(TM) in The Kitten Amazing Race.

I can’t imagine why.
(laughs)Right. I think that right now Ellen, Rosie, and I are the most out women in America.

Well there’s always Melissa Etheridge and Portia de Rossi too. Seriously, you were just voted off Survivor this week. That must have been hard.
Well you know, it was about seven months ago that it really happened so I’ve had quite a bit of time to get used to the thought.

Still you were voted off by a 4-1 vote. Even Tara, who I’m sure you thought you could trust voted you off the show
I knew I could trust Tara. That’s one of the reasons I knew I would be voted off. Tara joined an alliance on day two of this game and has never wavered from it. She told me straight out that she would be honoring her alliance. Neither of us was happy about the choice but that’s the way this game is played.

You sound pretty blasé for someone who just lost a chance at winning a million dollars.
Like I said earlier, for me it happened a long time ago. In terms of the game, I think I knew my time was limited from the time of the switch.

You’re talking about when Kendra reshuffled teams and brought you over to MFashnek?
Yes.

Now that move brought you closer to Tara. How did you feel about it at the time?
You know, my feelings were quite mixed at the time. On one hand, MFashnek was a much stronger team. They had food and a better shelter. On the other hand, I was pretty much going to be “odd man out.”

But Tara was on MFashnek
Well, that was definitely the best part of my team switch.

You made no secret of your interest in Tara while in this game.
No. I didn’t.

Do you think that hurt you in the game?
I don’t think it affected my game in any way. The other competitors just wanted to win the game. I didn’t get voted off because I was in a relationship with Tara. I got voted off because I was on the outside of a strong alliance.

You just said something very telling. You said that you were in a relationship with Tara. Is that how you saw it at the time?
Yes.

Say a little more about that. I mean to the extent that you are comfortable talking about your relationship.
When I first saw Tara, I really thought she was very special. As soon as I’d spent a little time with her, I knew this was a person I wanted in my life. I wanted a relationship with her and that’s what developed on the island.

You’ve said that you don’t think the relationship with Tara hurt your game. Do you think the same can be said for Tara? Did the others in her alliance doubt her loyalty because of you?
I can’t really say what went on in other people’s heads.

Based on their actions in the game, do you think that others doubted Tara’s integrity in her relationship with you?
I can’t answer that question.

Now I don’t think that it’s the best kept secret in television that you and Tara have been seen publicly together since the show ended. An Atlanta newspaper ran a bit in a gossip column reporting on your having breakfast together and you appeared together to accept your vehicles. Tara even accompanied you on this trip to New York and to the CBS studio to tape your Early Show interview this morning.
Tara and I haven’t been trying to hide our relationship.

You and she are living together?
Not exactly living together. I spend about two weeks with her in Ohio and then two weeks in Atlanta.

Now, I’ve heard that when you returned from the Island, you had no contact with each other for over three months. Was there bad blood from your time on Island? Because Tara voted against you?
Quite the contrary. When I left the Island, we knew that we had a future together but we agreed that it would be best if we took a break so we could get back to our normal lives.

That sounds very hard if you knew you had a future together. Did you get to spend time together while sequestered?
I can’t answer that question.

We’re almost done. What do you have planned while in New York?
Tara is meeting her family at the airport right now. After they get in we are visiting the normal sights: The Empire State Building, visiting Ground Zero, seeing a baseball game, and then of course the show tomorrow night.

Thanks for taking the time to visit with us. Congratulations on your appearance on Survivor – Ash Island. I know that we have a lot of readers who are happy for you but disappointed that you’re off the market.
Thank you.

Debra, great update.

The interview was very interesting and interview-ish :|

even though we found out a couple updates ago that Tara had stuck with her alliance and voted willow off the island, for some reason, I was feeling more tore-back about it at the end of this update....I am sooo wondering who actually won the game... I know I shouldn't be making guesses...but I don't think Tara won....that would seem a little too obvious I think :| *(though, I hope she did win :lol )

thank you for the update :-D

Deb, I really enjoyed this part. Willow handled the interviews as expected; with charm, wit and honesty. The attempts to trick the ‘puzzle master’ (or mistress in this case) into revealing tidbits of future episodes were amusing.

“Tara and I were playing different games. By the time I left the island I knew what I was getting out of the experience and it was all I could ever hope for in life.”

So very true :heart

The Pepper Watson article (nice title "More Than A Game" btw) was the best of the lot but all the interviews were great. Actually, you provided much more interesting questions than standard *real* TV interviews. So the updates have been moved to Sundays now? I’ll stay tuned.. Thanks!

That was great! I loved that you used "Pepper Magazine" in the update! Haha :applause. That made my day (well, of course going to PRIDEFEST :bounce this morning was what actually made my day, but this came in a sonewhat close second).

Irene pointed this out, but I just have to second it. The question:
That sounds very hard if you knew you had a future together. Did you get to spend time together while sequestered?

was soooo sneaky! Some of the other ones that Willow had to avoid were not to hard to detect, but if I was her, I probably would have accidentally answered that question. I wonder what would happen if she did?

Anyway, great update! I am excited that we soon will know who wins, but I am also sad because that means that it is ending. Damn... Oh well.

We've seen TES interviews, but this time you brought out the big guns! No, not Regis and Kelly .... Pepper Magazine, the PREMIER online e-zine that is read by anyone who is anyone! Well of course I'll say that :P.

Thanks Watson for the loan.

Anytime! You have the style and tone of Pepper perfectly! Providing a mix of information, speculation, analysis and of course the interview with Willow. Sneaky, sneaky with the sequester question :clap.

On my way home today I was wondering what that magazine will say about the KB, then I realized it may be classified as talking about the board on the board, so I quickly diverted my thoughts elsewhere. Like the update, not hard to do at all.

Willow handled all her interviews with real charm and aplomb. Every answer is measured, providing just enough information but stopping short of revealing too much. She probably worked out all possible questions and came up with the best answers before going to the interviews. I love the synchronicity of her wearing the rainbow choker, I wonder if Tara had anything to say about that in the hotel room that morning? She really has won hasn't she? Not the money, but happiness for the rest of her life. How wonderful, and no wonder she is so happy at the interviews.

our priorities are Tara’s daughter and spending as much time together as we can

Oh this totally brought a big smile to me, they sure have their priorities right!

It wasn't only until the Regis interview that I realized how risky Willow's position could have been -- viewed by Akathla as a turncoat and by MFashnek as an outsider, it's a wonder she lasted 33 days.

I love your magazine article, and it's not because it's "my" magazine,
online bio and three minute submission tape practically screams: Atlanta’s hottest love-em-and-leave-em family member

:lmao I'd give good money to see that tape!

the adorable “Ariel” is the product of an immaculate conception

All I can say is ... :rofl ... I have no words, this had me giggling so hard.

Eagerly looking forward to the Sunday show, no matter when you post it, it'll be the highlight of my day I'm sure. Thanks again for this story :applause.

One of the many reasons I like this fic is the variety of ways the story gets told. Present day, flashback, on the island, off the island, interactions between the contestants, private interviews, and of course the media. It really presents a rich tableau and gives a full picture of who these characters are and how their actions match what they say.

So I really liked how Willow handled herself on all the TV shows and I especially enjoyed the Pepper Magazine interview.

Updates! How I love them. As I was reading thought it was neat how you get to do quite a few different styles of writing. You have the normal story part annnd the interviews and news articles too. I thought that was neat. Anyways.

Loved the update annnd cant wait for the next!

:sneeze Hi Debra

I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself cos i'm suffering with the dreaded Hay Fever and what should i spot - the latest edition of Survivor. I'm feeling better already.

Willow interviews really well. I love that you have her open and honest without her giving too much away. I know that Willow says that she's not bothered about the money. Could it be that her two companies are doing better than she has let on.

Hello there, I'm late because I had a week off, a really needed vacation time, and didn't get close to a computer in the whole week. Good thing I found two updates of this great story.
I hope you and your family are well. Your son is adorable, teaching your dog the letters, wow.
As expected Ariel was upset, I was very sad for Tara. When the family gets to NY, I'm sure Ariel won't be mad and she and her mommy will talk, being the smart kid she is, she'll have some questions for Tara, and let's not forget she's in the why's phase, when we're curios about everything.
Willow, yes I agree she's had a few months to get used to what happened, and it was never hidden for her Tara's alliance.
Their cabin's memories clear the why they didn't try to see each other before the premier, I first thought it was a clause with the show, but now once again yay! :applause for Tara, she kept her mine at the right place while her body was going into the opposite direction.
The interviews well done, Willow didn't slip once, or give away too much.
I must confess was a little lost with the second interview show, I'm not familiar with The amazing kitten race, :ashamed sorry Watson, I'll do my best to start reading it. I read "Common Areas", very exciting story.
Thank YOU for sharing your wonderful work with us.
I'm just leaving feedback now, but I've read a couple of stories, including "The School Days", which was very funny and sometimes frustrating but in the I can't wait for what's coming next way.
Ok, time to go now
Take care,
Clau

Alright...so I have been a major lurker since, gosh 2000? I tend to go from genre to genre in my fanfiction interests so I havent been to the kitten board in over a year..then I had to register for the new board..so my roughly 100 posts are now gone..sigh to that.

Anyways:

This is quite frankly, my favorite AU fic ever! of any genre!! And i'll have you know I tend to flop regularly from BTVS to All My Children to ER, to Roswell, to Law and Order SVU, and the list goes on fics. I generally only read AU because I tend to be addicted to it...

Lets just say, I have read ALOT of fiction, ive spent more time reading stories in the past three years than I have spent in studying for my college degree!

This story though, it brings out all of my emotions. So I am de-lurking to reply with thunderous applause. I love it. I look forward to reading every update, Ive gotten my girlfriend into it (she doesnt even read fiction) my girlfriends mom who is an ATS fanfiction writer mainly is into this fic. We talk about it around the dinner table.

It is amazing and you are an incredibly talented writer, acolades to you!

Please keep up the great work. And I join the bus of kittens who would kill for a continuation of this once it is over (even though you dont do that generally ;) )

Not one interview but three! :D Willow really does have the knack for handling her PR duties - seeing as all that's left is the big finale, Willow is the last big Survivor story until the end, and adding in her hotness, her relationship with Tara, and her impressive record on the Island, it's no wonder the press are all over her. I wonder how Tara will fare - perhaps if Faith wins, the press will be more interested in her, and Tara's interview schedule won't be too hard for her. Though I hope Pepper Magazine catches up with her, I think that's an interview she'd be able to enjoy giving :party

I liked how it was obvious Tara was there for Willow's Early Show interview, just off-stage. And like everyone else, I'm now going to camp in front of the TV, virtually speaking, for the big finale. Naturally I'm waving the fairy-tale-ending 'Tara Wins' flag, but if Faith cleans house and claims the prize, well, no-one played harder or bolder for it. If it's Robin or Kendra, I dunno - I like them, but I want Faith to hold on and get the prize she's gone for like an amazon from day one.

Great work :bow

Interesting update, Debra...I have to admit that the Early Show segments have been my least favorite, but it's completely to their brevity and the fact that I never watch morning television (and forego those extra minutes of sleepy time?! NEVER!!!). This time, however, the way you showed the three different ones gave it a little something extra. I loved the contrast between the three styles: the "Just the facts, ma'am" of the Early Show, the "Give us the gossip" of Regis and Kelly, and then the more all-encompassing "how did your relationship affect your game/image/life" of the Pepper interview. Nicely done. It was interesting after "seeing" the show and the reality to step back and get a glimpse at some of the negative ways Tara and Willow were perceived by the general public (i.e. scheming, opportunistic, coattail riding). Willow of course is a champ at dealing with the press. I just hope that when the focus is on Tara, she is able to deal with it all. I'm sure Willow will be happy to throttle any reporter who's mean to her snugglebunny. :-D I'm getting so excited for the finale! Are you doing the 2 hour last show and reunion special in one post? That'd be a lot, but I'd almost be willing to wait an extra week to have it all in one go.

Hey there,
Long time reader, first time caller.

Seriously, I've been reading this fic all along and just love it. I love the way you cut back and forth between the island and the real life updates. Ariel is so cute!!! I wish I had one like her. Of course, I wish many things...

Well done and I can't wait for the special.

Oh my gosh! I just realized that the next update will be the first half of the Finale. I'm so excited I think I'm going to pee in my 'much loved' jeans.

Can't wait for the next update..........This is more exciting than all previous Survivors!

Thanks for bringing it to us! :bow

Tara’s makes no mention of her sexual preference. While she repeatedly refers to herself as a “single mother” she makes no other reference to any relationship history (causing some fans to speculate that the adorable “Ariel” is the product of an immaculate conception).

Ariel, the second coming!

*cracks up* Anywho...
Great update. I loooved it. Funny, first lesbian that's gone and she gets three interviews where everyone else got one XD I loved Willow's responses to the questions, very sweet without being schmultzy. And I so want that e-zine to be real.
