If you are one of those people who tosses aside the instruction manual for something new, go play! Just click up there where it says "Chat Room" and it'll open up a new window and connect you to our new chat.

If you are an instruction manual reader, though, you're in luck, because we happen to have an instruction manual:

Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 100 pixels, the height no greater than 100 pixels, and the file size no more than 3 KB.

I think the bold part is the problem, it's supposed to be 300 I think. Will post a question about that in the 'issues' thread.

The odd thing is my avatar is about 4kb (pika is small:-D) yet that one works.

Yep sorry, the setting was in bytes, fixed now to 300 kb.

Ok, so I read through the instruction manual but it didn't say anything about a message that I keep getting when I try to log into chat.

Unable to connect : java.lang.NullPointerException
Unable to connect : java.net.SocketException : Software caused connection abort: connect

I checked to make sure java was working properly, and it was, but I can’t figure it out. Dose anyone know what is going on with this?

I'd say try another browser, or try to make sure you have the latest java. If you are using IE and you have sun java installed, check to see that it uses sun java or microsoft

go to tools-options-advances - java.

I tried IE first then Mozilla, I just downloaded java so I know it’s up to date. I even re-downloaded java to see if that would help but it didn't, I'm about to give up and just tell Mandy that she wont be able to chat. Thanks for tying to help me fix this anyway.

Try logging in with chatZilla. It's the little cZ button at the bottom of the browser window in Mozilla, then, connect to irc.blitzed.org, then type /join #kitten .
Should work.

You tried on ChatZilla? Because it's not java. If that doesn't work, there are a ton of other software (such as mIRC and Pirch) that you can use to log into chat.

Thanks Washi, but nothing is seeming to work. Gina tried all day and so did I.

I think I can just walk across the room and chat on her computer. She seems to play on mine more anyways.

ok its not letting me get into chat, although the java symbol and everything does show up it says Im not connected. Im on a different computer and I had a link to a site that I could sign in to chat from, but I dont remember the site name, I just remember I type in #kitten and my handle to get in...does anyone know the site? thanks.

Not sure, Rose. It's working fine for me. I know it sometimes takes a minute to get you logged in.

Since you're on a different computer, maybe it's a problem with that computer's version of Java or the browser? Maybe you could use ChatZilla or something like that?

I went to the chatzilla site and coulldnt figure out where to go lol

Rose - sometimes if I can't get to chat via the link on the board (or if I'm on a non Java computer) I use the webchat from blitzed. Just enter your screenname and the channel (#kitten) and you're there. Some functionalities may not carry over but you should be able to get in.

You cam also download an IRC client like mIRC or Trillian (available from download.com) and get in through the client.

Xita, I was just wondering if the chat channel actually changed from #kitten to some other channel. That's what it said when I got in.

I'm not xita, and I don't play her on tv, but yes, it's changed to #thekitten.

Hehehen thanks Bytrsuite. I said Xita because the chat room said Xita was the one who changed it, and I didn't get my morning shot of coffee yet back then.
