And now supposedly it was all a misunderstanding and Jorja is in talks to return?

I wish they'd all figure out what's going on already.

Fired 'CSI' Star Hopes to Get Another Chance

Thu Jul 22, 2004 02:02 AM ET

By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - In his first public appearance since being fired from CBS' hit drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," George Eads called his dismissal "a misunderstanding."

Meanwhile, sources said CBS was in talks with Jorja Fox, the other "CSI" co-star who was let go last week after what CBS executives characterized as their failure to show up for work as scheduled after they'd made demands for salary increases.

At the summer Television Critics Assn.'s press tour to promote TNT's biopic "Evel Knievel," in which Eads plays the daredevil, Eads said he failed to show up for work July 15 because he inadvertently overslept.

Eads got the ax shortly after he didn't make the 6:30 a.m. call time. Fox was pink-slipped July 14 after the network didn't receive a required signed document assuring that the actress would report to work as scheduled.

Both Eads and Fox were said to be in a salary scuffle with series producers CBS Prods. and Alliance Atlantis when they were let go.

Sources indicated that Eads and Fox, who were making about $100,000 an episode, were offered a bump to $120,000 by the Viacom-owned network but were holding out for more.

On Wednesday, Eads asserted that his not showing up for work was not a move to get more money and that he has always believed that contracts are binding -- a direct response to a statement Sunday by Leslie Moonves, Viacom's co-president and co-chief operating officer, who said, "There comes a point where we feel a contract is a contract."

Eads said he has already apologized "nine ways to Sunday" for the incident and hopes to get the situation resolved by the weekend.

He compared the predicament to a case where the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys oversleeps on the first day of practice.

"I'd expect the coach to have me run hills and run wind sprints until the sun goes down -- not, you know, completely fire me," he said.

In the past few days, Eads been trying to reach Moonves to straighten things out but to no avail.

"It's kind of like meeting with Charlie of 'Charlie's Angels,"' he said.

Meanwhile, sources said Fox could be back on "CSI" in the near future, with multiple sources indicating that negotiations began Wednesday morning for her to return to the show.

Earlier in the week, "CSI" producers released casting breakdowns seeking a young male and female to join Las Vegas' CSI team.

CBS had no comment Wednesday on Fox and Eads' situations.

Well, I hope it's just a "misunderstanding" that gets resolved soon, espcially wit Jorja, 'cause I really found her character interesting. I'd really miss her character should she not return.

From 'Studio News' at the IMDb:

Quote:
Fired 'CSI' Actress Will Return, Says Report

Jorja Fox, one of the two CSI: Crime Scene Investigation stars who was fired for failing to show up for work this week, has been hired back, the Associated Press reported today (Friday), citing a source close to the production. The wire service observed that no agreement has been reached on co-star George Eads, who said that he had simply overslept on the day of the shooting, but that Eads may be asked to return following his public apology on Wednesday.

So they finally said out loud why Sara has such a problem with domestic violence cases. Sheesh, that only took what? 5 years or so? Right.

Bleh, I hope they put the team back together. This split/swing shift stuff just bugs the hell out of me. I freaking hate Ecklie, and Catherine spending so much time with him is doing no favors for her character.

I am a big CST Fan. Primarily Vegas. However if I am in the mood for a comedy I will watch Miami. Red, Horatio, cracks me up. I can't stand the way he acts. He is so melodramatic. They probably have to buy him new sunglasses often, he is bound to break them a lotby whipping them off so fast. IT is a wonder he hasn't poked out an eye, since he loves to put them on just as fast. My mom is a huge CSI fan to so usually watch them with her. We take turns mimiking Red after his (melo)dramatic lines.

As for last nights CSI. It was great. I loved how fast Grissom got out of there after that skull broke. I am so glad that they have finally gotten to the bottom of Sara's problems. Now maybe she can start acting (character not actress) better at work. She is my fave between her and Catherine. Hoiwever I think I like Calleigh, the blond on Miami the best. Especiall when she is testing the fire armes. :)

CSI's "Cyberleader"

Postby Munchkin » Fri Feb 04, 2005 8:08 pm

As a private joke, I refer to CSI: Miami's Horiatio Cane as the "Cyberleader" :lmao . Because like that stupid-looking black-helmeted Cyberman from the infamous Doctor Who story "Revenge of the Cybermen", Horatio is a pompous ass who struts around with his hands on his hips, over-reading awful one-liners like "he just made number one.... (Long Melodramatic pause) WITH A BULLET." :rofl

Hello Kittens-

Look out! the Spoiler Alarm is about to go off! AAOOOOGH! AAOOOGH! SPOILER!! SPOILER!! SPOILER!!

And this is Spoiler space done in blue and gold...

Hi Jen. In rough terms Sara got a week off without pay for letting her emotions get in the way of a case involving domestic abuse. I have to say that Eckley (whom I nominate for gravity experiments involving safes and pianos) was correct to suspend her at that point. Grissom went to her apartment to get to the bottom of her behavior. It was low key and Sara finally revealed she grew up in a very violent home. She thought everybody lived like this. Then her mother killed her father IIRC by stabbing him. It was a very well done scene which I won't try to describe. Anyway Sara got placed in foster care and she told about always having the story of her mother killing her father follow her in school.

Later Eckley confronts Grissom about Sara-E wants her fired, Grissom says he's disciplned his team member. Eckley accepts that only because as he tells G, "She's a loose cannon with a gun and she's on your team."

Hope that helps,

Jixer

Don't suppose anyone recorded the first two episodes of season 6 (Vegas) did they? I missed it when it was on here in the UK on Tuesday, on account of the much be-moaned car issues... :sob

Will pay postage and anything else...(well, almost anything :glasses ) Would need to be VHS (PAL), but DVD anything....

CSI is definitely one of my favorites shows!

I love vegas... I don't know why, but I think it's the best... even with the newest one "CSI New York" I found interesting but not compared to the vegas yet! =)

Grimsom rocks! o/

At the risk of reopening the Jorja v Marg debate, I have always been a Jorja fan, ever since she caught my eye in ER all those years ago! Therefore: Vegas, baby!

I love that the plots are based on actual scientific possibilities - and that my knowledge of all things weird and wonderful increases every time I watch! I swear I can spot a cause of death faster than the average person now.

Just realised how peculiar that made me sound....

Vegas, definitely Vegas. And though I love both Jorja and Marg, Jorja just shades it for me. God, I'm more obsessive about this show than I ever was about Buffy, and I didn't think that was possible. Then again, its a TV show about what I'm going to be doing once I finish my degree, so that could explain it. And my friends like to tease me that I only wanna do it because of CSI but I've wanted to work in forensics as long as I can remember.
Also, I agree with you guys that Miami is missing something. I'm fairly certain that the cast isn't as well put together as Vegas' and I'm not sure that there's as much mystery to the characters as there is to the Vegas one. As for New York, well that can just disappear as far as I'm concerned.
Candleshoe: I have the first episode of the new season on DVD, but unfortunately I won't have episode 2 for a while as my aunt taped it for me and she's 200 miles away right now. But if you'd like episode one, just let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Ah, the eternal "which CSI is the best" debate. For me the original is the best, I actually like NY but am not really bothered about Miami.

As for why? Chemistry is definitely a factor, but I also think it is the lead actor in each that defines the show. William Peterson has bags of charm and he brings a lot of it on screen and as team leader, he holds the show together. Not saying the rest aren't good, cos they are excellent, but Peterson holds it together.

I like Gary Sinise as an actor, have done since he did "The Stand" a few years ago. He is a very good actor and I like his no-nonsense character. The rest of the cast hold up well as well and there is good chemistry.

But Miami just doesn't have that chemistry. David Caruso has just never appealled to meas an actor (and I admit a biase due to his big-headed decision to leave NYPD Blue after one series, thinking he could now make the move to films) but neither he, nor his cast, can really hold attention.

But try this to attempt to make your watching of CSI:Miama more interesting, It is the CSI:Miami drinking game. Make sure there are plenty of shot glasses and the alcoholic drink of your choice.

Here's how it works: Every time David Caruso places his hands on his hips, you ahve to take a drink! Guarantee you you won't see the end of the episode!

I like Gary Sinise. He always seems to be the All-American Boy. A genuinely nice guy.

But Miami just doesn't have that chemistry. David Caruso has just never appealled to me as an actor (and I admit a biase due to his big-headed decision to leave NYPD Blue after one series, thinking he could now make the move to films) but neither he, nor his cast, can really hold attention.

I seem to be in a minority of one but I like CSI:Miami and Horatio Caine, despite all the 'hands on hips, long pause to put on sunglasses, now don't I look cool' moments, although not so much David Caruso if the stories about his behaviour on NYPD Blue and him being the reason Kim Delaney left CSI:Miami are true.

I didn't have a problem with him leaving NYPD Blue though. I preferred Jimmy Smits.

I preferred Jimmy Smits as well. My problem was the way in which he left, not onscreen but of, cos he thought he didn't need a tv series anymore now that he ahd a hit and he could do movies and rake in the cash. His movies were uniformly slated and he was soon back on tv.

But I really don't like him on CSI:Miami. The stories are good and that can get me through an episode but long drawn out sentences and the whole posing thing doesn't work for me.

Has anyone heard of a possible C.S.I. Paris? I understand with CBS trying to buy the production lock stock and barrel that they may branch out to other cities. Whether these will be shown in the U.S. or are just for a local market I haven't heard.
