Hmmm.. California must have a thing for Tara and Willow. The town Willows is just about 120 miles north of Tara Hills. Check out the map.

On BBC Breakfast yesterday the weathergirl was wearing the skirt with the face printed on it that Amber wore at a premiere some time ago. Its the first time I've seen anyone other than Amber in it. A couple of minutes later a friend phoned to tell me that she noticed it too.

An old Willow moment, but one I will remember forever...

My girlfriend and I went camping a couple of summers ago, the campsite itself was called Rivendale and had a pub called the Prancing Pony (for all you Tolkein fans) but the best part was that all the little avenues where the various pitches were had street names (oak road, valley close, etc) and we got to camp on willow bottom for three nights! :-D

(Also there's a chinese near me named Willow Garden, which always makes me a bit misty eyed - mmm willow-y goodness :willow )

Well, I can proudly say that I had an Amber/Tara moment the other day. I was shopping for a present for my mother for the holidays and was getting ready to walk out of the store when a blonde haired woman caught my attention. She was looking at various beaded necklaces at the counter next to the handbag department. She had this quietness about her that reminded me of Tara (not to mention she was wearing one of those long calf length coats and something that looked like it could have been a cross between Amber's and Tara's style), so I decided to walk the other way to get a better look. She could have been related to Amber. She looked almost identical to her, right down to the blue eyes. I continued on my way out of the store with my Amber/Tara moment of the year. lol

Today was the official start of a new term at school and my Latin teacher started off the day by saying "A new term, a chance to start things over for some of you that are struggling. A tabula rasa if you will." I gave a little squeak as I immediately thought of Buffy, and then started giggling because I remembered funny moments from the episode, but then I got serious and sort of teary-eyed because I remembered Tara left Willow at the end of that episode. Needless to say the class was confused about my odd behavior.

Scortor~ I totally understand your incident. I just dyed my hair red and someone at work said something about "seeing red everywhere" and I felt like crying cuz Seeing Red definately sucked. Yeah, the person felt pretty bad when they saw my face.

So I was reading Dear Abby (or some advice column, I can't remember which one it was) and a 12 year-old boy wrote in how a girl named "Tara" (he put in in parenthesis) really liked him and wanted to go out with him, but he didn't like her like that. He's actually got it bad for a girl named "Amber." :lol :lol He wanted to know how to let "Tara" down easy, and how to ask "Amber" out.

Foomatic;noticed that myself and, well, I remember when I was 12 and wanted to come up with fictionalized names for people and I just can't help but think maybe it wasn't a coincidence and this particualr 12-year-old watches FX. Maybe.

Heh.... B&L (that is a contact lens company....I can't get away from contacts.....work....home...free time.....) has a somewhat new contact lens... Nike MAXSIGHT™....they have two colors Gray-Green and... Amber!! Now a few times a week I'm ordering "Amber".....that's just.. .why couldn't they call it "orange"?:)))) And then...we have a patient...he rname is Tara....so I had to give Amber to Tara.....that was just... interesting :lol

btw...I went on their website to learn more about lenses....and you can find there the following "Amber is superior for fast-moving ball sports in variable light conditions "....I thought it was funny :lol

So my mother and I were driving around looking for WallMart today, we couldn't find it so she called my sister and asked which street's it off of, and it was off off "Benson" and "Amber" :lol I got a kick out of it and my mom was left clueless.

My friend is writing a murder mystery play for her theatre company. She is not a Buffy fan, and therefore had no idea why I was so excited that she had given one of the characters the name Amber, and another the surname Rosenburg.

She has also called one guy Smokey Robinson, and couldn't work out why the first and last names worked so well together until I reminded her about Fried Green Tomatoes...I don't think that's plagarism, is it?

#1 Last week I was walking to the bus stop from work and I saw some graffiti painted on a wall that simply said "WT" in big, blue letters.

#2 Today I was getting my haircut and I was talking about how there are a lot of Buffy fans at my work. My haircutting lady (?) asked why I was so into the show, "Was it because of Sarah Michelle Gellar?" I said, "No, it's because of the lesbian witches." She laughed.
As one, they turn to the soda machine. It flies back into the door like a cannonball. Willow looks at it, at Tara. She doesn't let go of her hand.

AH-HA/SQUEE.

In my friend's Adv Acting and Directing Class (sadly I do not pursue acting or directing) they showed a clip from "Hush." And of course I jumped up and down and asked her which part. And hehe, it was the part when Tara and Willow are running away.

I wish I could study non-verbal communication (read:Willow and Tara) in all my classes. sigh.

My girl and I had a baby six months ago, we had a boy. We had chosen to use Tara for a girls name, but having a boy we didn't.
But my friend had a baby girl a few weeks ago, and guess what, she called it Tara.
I love the name, of corse. But we felt a little sadness that she had used our name. After all for nine months we related to our baby as maybe a Tara.
I have mixed emotions. It is good to have another Tara in the world. (Even if my friend did get the name from us.)
The name means a different thing to us then my friend. I wish I could tell her the special meaning behind the name. But she just wouldn't get it.

What did we call our boy? Declan (from the show Mysterious Ways) Gee anyone would think we loved TV.
We do get out. :blush
Smile! pass it on.

I think it would be hard to explain to to someone who may not know about Buffy. Although she might be glad to know that the character you are honoring was kind-hearted and decent.

Ooo I had a great W/T moment recently!

My friend and I went to a local pagan store (which reminds me quite a bit of the Magic Box) and I was looking through some paintings from Designs by Willow. One of them was called "Tara Willow." I completely freaked out, and if I'd had enough money left, that painting would be on my bedroom wall in a second. I'll have to go back next time.

Well now, this is interesting--I'm just back from viewing the re-make of "The Wicker Man", which stars Nicholas Cage, Ellen Burstyn and Leelee Sobieski. In the new film, Cage's character is lured to "Summersisle" by a letter from his ex-fiancee, who just happens to be named--wait for it--WILLOW! The character in the original film was played by a very pregnant Britt Eckland, and was quite different from the character in the new film. I wonder if JW might have seen the original, and thus "lifted" the name from there. ;-)

BTW, for those interested, I don't feel that the re-make is quite up to the level of the original, which was quite startling for its time (1973-74). Edward Woodward (playing a virgin policeman!!!!) and Christopher Lee (as "Lord Summerisle") were both excellent, and there was much more focus on the ancient Celtic roots of the earth-based religion of the island's inhabitants. The new film turns the story into a Witches/Wiccans vs. "Normal" People tale, the sort of thing that has been done to death many times before. In any case, it's worth seeing both versions for comparison. :-)

I was in the basement tonight, rooting around in my old stuff looking for components for a Halloween costume and I found an AMBER pinkie ring that I bought years ago and totally forgot that I had...it has a very medieval style to the design...so it fits right in with the whole Wiccaness and the OMWF costumery :wtkiss ;-)
