What sounds dumber: waiting till tomorrow to get a comic you could have gotten today or taking a two hour trip to the only comic shop you know that might possibly have it and is open late enough just because you're too impatient to wait till tomorrow?

Hey Sith, if you're really that impatient then call the comic shop you think may possibly have the comic, so you don't make a two hour journey for nothing? Maybe? Possibly? I'm just trying to help with your blunder, cuz I too possess no patience whatsoever!

Random: I've had my t-shirt on inside out since having a bath two hours ago.

I didn't, and I went anyway. Thankfully, they had one copy left.

Random: I'm never making a four hour trip like that again, even when I know I have to.

Do you want me to tell you about how you ripped my heart in two when you didn't even call to acknowledge my existence? In limbo for too long lingering on thoughts of you that will never be. It hurts that you thought so little of me, that I was so insignificant to you that you couldn't even take the time to contact me. For a long time I just sucked it up and pretended that everything was ok, because I didn't know what else to do. I wanted so badly to meet you, to share with you, to get to know you, and yet all you cared about was her. I wanted to scream, "Don't you know she'll break your heart?" But I knew you wouldn't listen to me anyway. And besides, that would have only pushed you further away.

In any event all of that is ancient history now, and I've had to learn to move on in my life. But every once in a while in a quiet moment your face pops into my head. Or a gentle breeze carries your name to my ears. I see you in everyone and everything, and I feel a pain in my heart. How do you get over someone who meant so much to you, but now wants nothing to do with you for reasons unknown? Can anybody tell me that?

There was a woman in town doing market research (I think, she may have been trying to sell something); as I walked past her she smiled at me & asked me "Are you a student?", I smiled back at her & told her no and she gave me the filthiest look, like she thought I was lying to her or something. It was weird.

Why is it that when I'm being serious people think I'm being sarcastic? And just as often when I'm being sarcastic, they think I'm serious? While it can be frustrating at times, most of the time it is kinda fun. ;-) Especially when flirting with co-workers. :whistle

Maybe it was something that was hidden by a "somebody else's problem" field?

Awright, UK kittens, you all need to step up. No more excuses! It's Dar Williams or bust! If anything, you could all go together and have a KittenCon '06.

You mean you haven't read The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy? :shock (Well technically it's from the 3rd book, Life, The Universe And Everything)

Basically if you put an SEP field around an object it stops people from seeing it, since when they look at it they assume that it's "somebody else's problem" and ignore it. You can sometimes see the object out of the corner of your eye, but as soon as you try to look at it it disapears, which is why I thought that might be what you were seeing.

Wikipedia has a fuller explanation.

Next I'll explain how to fly by throwing yourself at the ground and missing :-D

I love those books. Every time I make a sandwich I think of poor old Arthur and his whippy knives in Mostly Harmless.

And it took me ages not to feel bad about the mattress I sleep on.

I love Dirk Gently too, and have put an Electric Monk on my Christmas List every year, to see if anyone actually reads the thing.

To be honest, I can't think of anything more random than an Electric Monk....

Riding on the bus in Oakland today made me sad....and it kinda made me hopeful too. Weird.
As one, they turn to the soda machine. It flies back into the door like a cannonball. Willow looks at it, at Tara. She doesn't let go of her hand.
