Okay, Kittens/Maniacs...I've got some catching up to do. Let it begin.
[hr]
tarebear (Coming Back): Cecile, let me begin by saying “WOW!” I can’t even begin to tell you how incredibly honored I am that you all began this wonderful collaboration with my story. It’s times like this when I cam so glad watty and I approached so many wonderful writers and asked them to play with us. When I see the creativity inspired by the writers of our group, I’m filled with a definite sense of pride.
You’ve done such a wonderful job of capturing what I was trying to convey in Tara’s nightmare. The jumbled mass of words—overlapping, imposing—is exactly what I was imagining as I was writing. It was a dark place and that made it difficult to write. I have to wonder if you experienced some similar difficulties, similar darkness as you were creating this image. It’s so beautiful. It is the wallpaper on my desktop computer and the laptop. I show everyone who happens by while on a computer. I’m so very proud. Thank you, Cecile. Thank you so very much.
Spighy (On Second Thought): I really like this. OST is one of my favorite fics (all of Mary’s fics are my favorites, actually) and it’s so great to see it made manifest in this wallpaper. I love the images that you’ve used here. The images that you’ve chosen really capture (for me) the feel of the whole story. The claw marks across Willow and Tara are really disturbing for me…but in a good way. What I mean is that you’ve captured exactly what I was imagining when Oz went wolfy on them. Here is what I like about the ‘Oz image merge’: it’s not quite exact. And that’s a compliment! I think it really shows the ‘halfness’ that Oz was exhibiting throughout the story – not completely morphing into the wolf or staying completely human. He was wafting in that liminal space of ‘in-between-ness’. I think you hit that one right on the head. Well done.
the hero factor (Smut Bunnies): I really like this wallpaper for a few reasons. Firstly, because it’s based on a fic from my Fic Challenges. (tee hee) But more than that, it’s just so beautifully done. Like Chris’s story (all of them, actually), it has this wonderful symmetry. Everything is balanced superbly. I love the hint of color in the ‘innocent’ pictures of Willow and Tara…as if that is the reality (which I think it is). But the juxtaposition of the black and white ‘smut bunnies’ pictures brings out the ‘undercover’ self that each woman displays both in the privacy of the bedroom (or wherever they happen to get frisky) and while on assignment (saving the world. Sexily.). Really, quite awesome.
Auburn (NMWYG): I really, really love this wallpaper, Gemma! There is so much going on here, yet it doesn’t seem cluttered. I think the images that you’ve chosen really grasp the story beautifully. There’s angst and fluffiness and cuteness and frightfulness all at the same time. And it’s really just beautiful. (I keep using that word “beautiful”—I think it’s appropriate, though.) I have no more words.
the hero factor (Relinquished Symmetry): What can I say about this wallpaper that hasn’t already been said? I mean, white? I never thought I would like a wallpaper that was mostly white. (My eyes are very sensitive to bright lights and backgrounds. Just ask watty…I even use the blue background for MS Word so it doesn’t hurt my eyes.) But I do like it. I love it. It’s so fitting with Cyd’s style of writing…crisp and clean. There’s nothing superfluous here. So great!
Auburn (Y’all): This was so great, Gemma. I was a bit late in realizing there was an alternate version of the wallpaper, but I was so glad that I happened upon it. Both are so beautiful. I’ve recently reread Y’all and Paths and your wallpapers really brought a whole new level to that experience. With the story fresh in my memory, I was able to fully immerse myself in the wallpapers you’ve created. The details are just wonderful. As many have mentioned, the inclusion of the note from Tara was just perfect. And I love the rings. Really…so very amazing.
the hero factor (Survivors): So many people have mentioned the stark nature of this image—a lone house in the middle of sprawling farmland. It’s so fitting. One of the things I love is how the loneliness of the house—sitting solitary, in the distance, with dark clouds overhead—is at once diminished by the image of Willow and Tara together, in each other’s arms. And even with the solitary nature of the house, it is still surrounded by the farmland, which is still alive and thriving. This matches perfectly with the quote at the bottom of the wallpaper—what it all comes down to is hope. Very nicely done!
petal of roses (You Make Me Smile): The colors are fantabulous! OMG so great! I absolutely adore the way you’ve integrated the images that you’ve chosen. Placing the drawing of Willow and Spencer in between the individual images of Tara and Willow is genius! For me, this represents the connection for Willow and Tara—Spencer is the key here. Tara places Spencer first in her life (as it should be) and, while her feelings for Willow grow stronger every day, there is nothing that will come between her and her son. And, while realizing the importance of Spencer in Tara’s life, Willow’s acceptance and fondness for Spencer is not affectation—she genuinely adores this child. It’s that connection that will form the bond for Tara and Willow. You’ve captured that so nicely. The whole wallpaper is bright and airy and fun—just like Emmy’s story. Beautiful.

If I've missed anyone, please smack me upside the head, let me know who I missed, and then forgive me.
