Lists

Postby FineyMcFine » Mon May 29, 2006 11:10 am

I'm a big list-maker. To-do lists at work, things to do around the house, grocery lists, fics to leave feedback for, miscellaneous things - the list goes on and on. So I figured why not a thread on the kittenboard for lists?

Here's the guidelines for this thread:

1. A list of any kind is on-topic
2. Your list must have at least three items on it
3. If you think of something else to add to your list, please edit the original post unless the thread has scrolled or it's weeks later, etc.
4. Post as many different lists as you'd like in any amount of time, but try not to double-post.

[hr]

Here's the inagural list. I'm switching jobs and my last day at my current job is June 2, and I don't start my new job till June 16. So, in grand fashion:

Things to Do Around the House During my Two Weeks Off

1. Buy and plant broccoli in the garden
2. Rake and mulch the flowerbeds
3. Mulch the magnolia trees
4. Finish sealing the deck
5. Put the grill on the deck
6. Remove vines from fences and shrubs
7. Clean out closets, donate old clothes and shoes
8. Clean and organize garage; install pegboard on wall
9. Organize and clean basement
10. Send boxes of old household goods to halfway house program

Me too! FOTS, you might like Melissa's I Take You With Me. The words are quite pertinent, I would think. (It's on the Boys On The Side soundtrack album.)

And also I Want It All by kd lang. Can you tell I've been thinking about this all day?

Things I did today:

Successfully avoided Mr Evans
Rang the First Aid people
Rang the Lifeguarding people
Successfully avoided Mr Evans again - pesky little man.

A good day, all in all...

Things to do tomorrow:
  • Do not sleep in. Seriously. It's getting ridiculous.
  • Go to post office and check packaging costs and postage-by-weight for BAF parts (see below) to be sent overseas in exchange for a Storm (comic version) action figure.
  • Check with Comic Kingdom (surly staff, no discount, but willing to reserve issues) for arrival of reserved re-stocked She-Hulk #8, which was short-packed last week and sold out in about three seconds.
  • Check King's Comics (won't reserve without a credit card, but friendly staff and offer a membership discount) for new Civil War titles, plus funky 80s retro Daughters of the Dragon mini-series.
  • Do shopping. Buy food and soft drink. Try to find new dishmop, as old one close to falling apart.
  • Exercise a bit.
  • Get close enough to finishing something I'm writing for a friend that I can finish it off on Thursday.
  • Set video to tape The L Word, airing at midnight due to channel 7 being jerks. Ignore everything else on channel 7.
  • Update Looking-glass with whatever shows up in the next 24 hours.

BAF = Build-A-Figure - certain waves of Marvel Legends figures come with parts of a figure of some suitably ginormous character, which can be assembled if you buy the whole set. As I only buy the girls, I'm never going to be able to assemble a complete giant figure, but they're all guys, so who cares.

It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one who thrives on lists. Does anyone remember the West Wing ep (yes, I know this is the Kitten Board, but still...) in which Toby meets the Poet Laureate? They are sitting on the steps outside a University and Toby shows his list "Meet whatever the poets name was - she was played by Laura Dern" and then he crosses it off. My heart sang because I get just how good it feels to cross stuff of the list. Anyway, enough rambling. Here's my list of things to do between now and Sunday:

Read three chapters in Org. Behavior. textbook
Write Case Study for Org. Behavior final
    Condolence card for Rick
    Argonaut for sangria ingredients
    After-work drinks at Cindy's (Friday)
Take Mom to People's Fair (Sat. or Sun)
    Laundry/iron
    Grocery store

Stuff I now own for no other reason than it seemed like a neat thing to have:
  • A free-standing wrought-iron candelabra,
  • A squishy transparent rubber ball with little plastic brains and fake blood inside (that was when I was going to see Shaun of the Dead),
  • A miniature Greek-style statue (probably called Woman In Wet Robe or something),
  • Halliwell's Film, Video & DVD Guide 2004,
  • A Venetian Carnivale mask,
  • A DVD of The Girl Next Door (which I still haven't been able to finish watching without getting bored and wandering off to do something else),
  • This weird little magnetic desk toy that makes a weight hover in mid-air (kept in another room, because strong magnets + computer = suckiness),
  • To be honest, a whole bunch of my action figure collection that aren't characters I give a damn about, but just look pretty and/or interesting.

(What that list didn't include, but which I nevertheless did on Wednesday, was 'get sniffles that make head feel like it full of cotton wool, thereby making writing impossible'. I got some work done yesterday, hopefully it'll be done tonight. Sorry 'bout the delay.)

Hokay, might as well do this, as it's one of my Lists To End All Lists: Action Figures I Own (I'll just do it all in one paragraph, instead of listing them one per line, because that'd take up five metres of screen space - also, we're not including the old Star Wars and Asterix ones I don't keep on display). Going in no particular order:

Joanna Dark, Evil Galadriel, Destiny, Lucidique, Sue Storm Barbie, Rose (Doctor Who), Jazz, Anna Valerious, Oblivia, Cynder, Eowyn (as Dernhelm) She-Hulk, Leia (as Boussh), Padme (as N-1 pilot), Joanna Dark (in CI armour), Zam Wessel, Scarlett (GI Joe), Buffy, Padme (as Padme, Ep1), Anya, Padme (royal battlegear), Padme (arena battle), Lara Croft, Jessica Priest, Wonder Woman, Princess Fiona, Slave Girl Leia statue, Galadriel, Dana Scully, Jean Grey, the Wire Twins, Switch, Xena (as harem dancer), Trinity, Eowyn, Princess (Battle of the Planets), Grendel, Mystique (movie version), Mercury, Bethany Bled, Tara (Hush), Willow (Doppelgangland), Jakita Wagner, Galadriel Barbie, W.I.T.C.H. Will and Cornelia, Daena, Columbia, She-Spawn II, Aayla Secura, Tara (New Moon Rising), Magdalena, Zera, Sue Storm, Xena (as Destroyer of Nations), Letha, Lt. Uhura, Chiana, Zhaan, Sydney Bristow, Catwoman (from Knightfall), Harley Quinn, Warrior Woman (Mad Max II), La Lunatica, Sinthia, Deanna Troi, Chun Li, Sakura, Storm, Spawn Tiffany II, April O'Neil, Mary Slaughter, She-Ra, Catwoman (Kia Asamiya statue), Aayla Secura statue, Barbie (refitted as a sexy gunslinger), Little Miss Muffet, Catwoman & Batgirl (Microman versions), Spawn Tiffany III, Kayla (formerly a Barbie friend, now dressed in black leather and carrying a six-barrel autocannon), Camille Noire, Ballerina Barbie (with a skeletal flying monkey perched on her shoulder, and a demonic bio-scythe gauntlet on her arm), Blackarachnia, Mirage, Erin (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Szaltax, Vandala, She-Spawn, Cheetah, X-23, Supergirl Barbie, the Alien, Gozer, Dark Phoenix, Princess Daphne, Belit, Svadun, Mystique, Faith, Elizabeth Bathory, Cammy, the Skull Queen, a demonic Rogue (Diablo), Asajj Ventress, Barbie (as a techno-barbarian), Little Red Riding Hood, Catwoman (from The Long Halloween), Cannon Spike Cammy, Dawn (Linsner's Dawn, not the Buffy one), Sara Pezzini, Aurra Sing, Thrillkiller Batgirl, Dorothy (from Twisted Oz), Padme statue, Zenobia, Gail (Sin City), Ariel Chylde, Spawn Tiffany I, Angela, Lotus Warrior Angel II, Hitomi, Ayane (purple & white versions), Lei Fang, Kasumi (blue & pink versions), Warrior Lilith, Jenna Jameson, Lady Death (living & undead versions), Purgatori, Aspen Matthews, Manga She-Spawn, Gretel, Medieval Witchblade, Kira (Dark Crystal), Willow and Tara (Together Forever set), and lastly, the limited edition signed Triangle Tara.

Things I want to do/say to my undescribably annoying co-worker (BTW, I'm not *really* a bad person, regardless of how this sounds ;-)):
1-Hit him with a shovel.
2-Ask him if he wants to play with matches.
3-Sic my flying monkeys on him.
4-Encourage his desire to quit so that I can have his job.
5-Tactfully point out that he can quit talking because no one is listening.
6-If subtlety fails, come right out and tell him to shut his bloody mouth.
7-Ask my boss if I can gag him.

Things I Need To Do Over The Weekend

1. Watch "Bend it like Beckham" for psychology project.
2. Actually start writing said psychology project.
3. Think lots about Heather and Amy and send good vibes their way.
4. Catch up on posting around the other boards I go to.
5. Hope that I get unbanned from TF.N.
