Setting: AU/canon crossover
Summary: What happens when a shy, introverted girl is torn away from her world and deposited into a dimension full of vampires, demons, and…a girlfriend?
Part 1 - Seizure

Willow finished lacing up her sneaker as she sat on the edge of the hospital bed. She checked the clock - 9:07 a.m. Buffy was a little late picking her up, but Willow had expected that. Her best friend had many good qualities, but punctuality was not one of them.

She was more than ready to go home, though, despite her patience with Buffy's tardiness. 48 hours spent in the hospital under observation had bored her nearly to tears, especially since her headache had prevented her from being able to focus on her computer screen or a book. She had watched more television in the last two days than she had in a month, and felt like she had suffered for it.

Willow had been admitted to the hospital two nights ago with a mild concussion after a frantic Buffy had found her unconscious on the kitchen floor. From what they had been able to piece together, Willow had hit her head soundly on the open freezer door after retrieving a dropped box of frozen pizza. Buffy, with whom she shared an apartment in Sunnydale, had discovered her ten minutes later after coming into the kitchen to see why Willow wasn't answering her repeated questions about what was for dinner.

The emergency room doctor had diagnosed her with a concussion. He had noted some anomalous symptoms and had run a series of tests, finally coming into the patient bay where Willow lay on a gurney, the anxious Buffy at her side.

"Ms. Rosenberg," he began, "Is there a history of epilepsy in your family?"

"No," she answered.

He made a mark on his clipboard. "It seems that sometime between when you hit your head and when your roommate discovered you, you had a petit mal seizure."

"Petit mal?" said Buffy. "Isn't that an itty bitty cake?"

"That's petits four, Buffy," Willow replied absently. "It's pronounced differently."

"Ms. Rosenberg, I'd like to keep you overnight for observation, with your agreement, and run a series of tests," the doctor continued. "A concussion is one thing, but a seizure is another, especially if you don't have epilepsy."

"What kind of tests?"

"An EEG, first of all, to rule out epilepsy. And an MRI to rule out any structural abnormalities."

Willow frowned. "What kind of structural abnormality could cause a seizure?"

The doctor sighed. "It's not always helpful to speculate, but one possibility is a brain tumor..."

"A BRAIN TUMOR?" Buffy shrieked.

"Calm down, Miss..." the doctor said, raising his hands in a gesture of appeal.

"Calm down? My best friend is dying of brain cancer and you want me to calm down?"

"Buffy!" Willow interjected. "As far as we know, I'm not dying of anything. The doctor just wants to run some tests. It's probably nothing. Right, Doctor?"

"Most likely," the doctor said, "but we do need to rule it out. Are you willing to stay?"

Willow had agreed, and her overnight stay had stretched into two days as the doctors had run test after test. Not only did she have the EEG and the MRI, but she had blood tests, X-rays, an EKG, and a battery of memory, vision, and hearing tests. When she wasn't being poked, prodded, or quizzed, she was lying bored in her hospital bed contending with a throbbing headache. The place on the back of her skull that had connected with the freezer door was swollen and tender, which made lying down uncomfortable. That, combined with the bland hospital food, daytime television, and the nurses waking her up every hour to take her blood pressure made her anxious to get home.

Footsteps sounded in the doorway, and she looked up, expecting Buffy - but it was the doctor.

"Ms. Rosenberg," he said with a smile. "Going home?"

"Eventually," she said. "Once my roommate gets here."

"I'm here! Sorry I'm late," said Buffy, rounding the corner and entering the room in a breathless flurry of hair, arms, and a swinging purse.

The doctor glanced up from his clipboard as Buffy hugged Willow. "I stopped by to let you know, I have the results from your MRI and your other tests. There were no structural abnormalities detected," he began.

"Good," Willow said. She hadn't been concerned about it in any event - Buffy was sensitive to any hint of cancer since her mother had died two years ago of a brain tumor, but Willow had known it was a remote possibility at best.

"However," he continued, "we did pick up some anomalies with the vision and memory tests. Your peripheral vision isn't quite where it should be, and your memory scored lower than other women your age. Do you usually have a good memory?"

Willow frowned. "I usually have a photographic memory." She remembered the memory tests; it had been a frustrating experience. She was used to seeing something once and being able to parrot it back verbatim, whether it was words, pictures, or a mathematical formula. But every fourth card, she had seemed unable to remember whether it was a rooster or a turkey, or a pig or a cow, or a flower or a spoon on the flash card.

The doctor pursed his lips in an expression of concern. "That's unusual, especially if you're eidetic."

"What did you call her?" Buffy demanded.

"Shhh, Buff," Willow said. "Is it serious?"

"It's not necessarily a cause for concern right now," the doctor said. "It could be related to your concussion - sometimes sudden trauma to the head can cause temporary changes in cognitive function. But I do want to see you again in about a week for a follow-up. If it's gotten better, great, and if it's gotten worse, we'll take steps," he concluded, handing Willow a card with an appointment date and time.

She folded the card and put it in her pocket. "Okay," she replied, and shook the doctor's hand.

"Just one other thing," the doctor said. "Are your parents in town?"

Willow shook her head. "They're on a lecture tour in Europe."

"Is there anyone who can stay with you at night, and check on you during this week? A boyfriend, maybe?"

She bit her lip, resurrected memories of Danny's departure lancing like an ice pick through her heart. Three months later, reminders of his infidelity still hurt. "No boyfriend."

"She's my roommate," Buffy said. "And my best friend. I can take care of her."

The doctor looked askance at Buffy. "All right, but it's very important that you follow these instructions," he said, handing her a brochure about concussions and head trauma. "No sports, no caffeine, and no alcohol. Can you do that?"

Buffy took the paper and scowled at the doctor. "You obviously don't know Willow very well if you think she'd ever voluntarily play sports or drink caffeine. I've got it covered, doc."

He nodded, albeit dubiously, and left the room.

"I don't like him, Will," Buffy said as she helped her roommate into her coat. "He's mean."

"I think he's nice enough," Willow said.

"Got a crush on the doctor?" Buffy asked. "Did you have anything else here, any books?"

"Nope," Willow said. "And no, I don't have a crush on the doctor. He's more your type anyway."

"Dr. Angel?" Buffy snorted. "With a name like that, I think I can say he's DEFINITELY not my type. Dr. Pretentious is more like it."

A cleared throat in the doorway caught their attention. It was the doctor, accompanied by an orderly with a wheelchair.

"Ms. Rosenberg. Escort to the front door, courtesy of Dr. Pretentious," he said dryly.

Buffy's cheeks flamed red, but she shrugged. "At least you're good for something," she retorted.

He rolled his eyes and walked away as Willow lowered herself gingerly into the wheelchair. Usually she was mortified when Buffy picked fights with strangers, something that happened semi-regularly, but today all she wanted to do was go home. She closed her eyes and rubbed her temples as the headache, which had never really left, came roaring back with a vengeance. Home. She would feel better at home, where she could lie down and get some uninterrupted rest.

I don't know how I've managed this but

Dibs

Well that was a good start to the story.

Wow Willow must have really clunked herself one in order to give herself concussion. More worrying is the seizure and memory loss. While they could have been caused by the concussion, I have an inkling they're actually related to the forthcoming dimensional dimentia.

I loved this line

"Ms. Rosenberg. Escort to the front door, courtesy of Dr. Pretentious," he said dryly.

:lmao

I'm looking forward to seeing where you go with this story.

Mm, I love petit fours. Petit mal seizures, not so much.

I've always been a fan of Angel, so I'm amused at his appearance as "Dr. Pretentious."

Looking forward to the introduction of Tara...though whether that will be in this dimension or another remains to be seen.

SallyMcFine: Great fic, its interesting, I really hope that nothing is wrong with Willow's vision and memory. Dr. Angel is totally Buffy's type. I can't wait for our girls to meet, I hope its soon. I can't wait to read more.

A very intriguing beginning. This is not a particularly likeable Buffy, but it's a good projection of what she would have become as an adult without the slayerness. The only surprise is that she ever became friends with Willow. I suspect Angel's skepticism is well-founded.

The medical mystery is a worry. It'll be interesting to see how all this leads to the scenario in your summary.

You should have more fortnights of downtime to write more fics. Happy to see a new one, Sallypants. Now I really need to update that completion ratio xls.

Very interesting start. Willow is a good patient, agreeing to this many tests. Like you've said in the title and summary, that headache will be the cause of ... something next, won't it. It's great how you've set the scene in such simple language, yet nothing feels exposition-y. All too often the beginning of fics are the hardest to write well, even with establish characters. Like the inclusion of peripheral characters. Always thought Angel is underused in fics, even as a guest star. :lol at "Danny." Gives him a throw-back type of feel. :lmao at Buffy's vocabulary-challengedness.

Watching this space.

p.s. I want to thank you for making me look at gl again. I just finished the recaps and I saw you post this and the tiny, competitive, part of me thought, Sally has 2 completed fics. I need to work on mine to keep up with her. Thanks for the motivation!

Hmmm, for some odd reason, I'm imagining this story going in a very different direction from what everyone else seems to be thinking. Could be an interesting process. DEfinitely a hookable hook.

Okay, the no voluntary sports is understandable, but no voluntary, nay I say mandatory, cafeinne? A Willow without mocha-y goodness? Very strange.

All kidding aside, this is an intriguing start, Sally. Looking forward to more.

Okay, so of course I couldn’t come back to read and leave feedback yesterday afternoon, because of the wackiness of the board yesterday…but this story has been on my mind all day. So without further ado, and having read the entire update 3 times….here’s my 2 cents worth of feedback. (a tuppon? :lmao )

I really like the premise of this story. It’s interesting and your writing style is so wonderful that it is impossible not to get hooked right away. So…Willow knocked her head on the freezer door and had to go to the hospital…poor Willow… but I had to love Buffy’s response to the doctor’s news about Willow’s diagnosis.

"Petit mal?" said Buffy. "Isn't that an itty bitty cake?"

That is so funny, and so something Buffy would have said! And I love how Buffy jumped to conclusions about Willow dying of brain cancer. But it’s kinda sad, considering why she’s jumping to conclusions… Poor Buffy’s mom…

"You obviously don't know Willow very well if you think she'd ever voluntarily play sports or drink caffeine.

*gasp* This Willow is not a voluntary caffeine drinker?!

And how cool is it that Angel has turned out to be the doctor…and Buffy’s all drooling and spazzing out… okay, so not really, but almost. :D I have a feeling that this story is going to be very entertaining… :D I’m hooked already. More soon, sally?

YAY!

I get to read one of your stories, from the very start!! I am so excited!

I am worried about WIllow's noggin, but I expect that is where I am supposed to be at this point in the story.

Also, I am intrigued about the Buffy/Angel (I mean Dr. Pretentious) thing too... it is awfully generous for the doctor to take time to wheel his patient to the door... just sayin'.

I look forward to reading more!

Sallypants – You said Thursday. Oh well, I happened to have three minutes this morning and saw this online. I should probably reply to UberSmut first but I’m at work so this seems more doable. I’ve been really excited about this story since you mentioned it and you don’t disappoint. I feel like this chapter really lays the groundwork for the rest of the story. We have a very clear image of a very “normal” Willow and a normal (if clueless and rude) Buffy. The drop-in information: “Danny” leaving three months earlier and Buffy’s mother dying of a brain tumor give us enough of a touchstone to understand the parallels here without overwhelming us with too much minutiae.

I was most amused by two thoughts about the update. First: it took Buffy 10 minutes of asking about dinner to come check on Willow? How did that non-conversation go:

[blockquote]Buffy: Willow?

Buffy: Willow, what’s for dinner?

(repeat for ten minutes)
Buffy starts to get really curious about why Willow’s not answering and what that loud thud meant and goes in the kitchen. “Oh God! Willow!”[/blockquote]Hasn’t she seen those billboards that say “Time lost is brain lost with a stroke”?

I can’t believe the doctors made her stay in the hospital for those tests. How amazingly boring (not to mention expensive). I went through the same thing about seven years ago. When I told my GP that I was having memory problems (which I suspect were caused by the medication more than anything else), her reaction: “Carry a small notepad.” Kind of low-tech huh?

Buffy took the paper and scowled at the doctor. "You obviously don't know Willow very well if you think she'd ever voluntarily play sports or drink caffeine. I've got it covered, doc."
Lol!

Ahhhh, nice. A "normal" Willow (although in almost any world, normality and our favorite redhead have at most a passing acquaintance.) A vocabulary-challenged Buffy...yeah, we've never seen that before. :)

I seem to remember Willow saying somewhere that she avoided caffeine, most of the time, anyway, because it turns her into a complete spaz. I always figured she went the non-caffeinated mocha route. YMMV.

A great start. Waiting with baited breath to see where you go with this....

Ooh, Sally...a new story!! (And I have to get caught up on your OTHER stories. I'm a bad, bad Kitten...)

As always, the anal-retentive in me just has to say how much I love the structural soundness of your writing. There's never an interruption where I'm going, "Wait, what did she mean to say?" I'm a freak about such things, but your writing is just so smooth.

I also love the (seeming) ease with which you capture the characters in an intro chapter. We're seeing things unfold through Willow's eyes (she makes such a great narrator) which gives us good perspective on Buffy: she can be a bit impetuous and reactive, but we also know whence springs her dread of cancer, e.g. And petits fours...cracked me up. You drop in those moments in such a smooth fashion--you don't build it up, a la "Here's a joke!" It's sublime and delightful.

And what's going on w/ our Ms. Rosenberg? You give a really nice description of the tests, by the way, and how tedious they can become even to a devout test-taker like Willow.

So good, Sally--can't wait for more!

justin

Hey justin, I'm glad you thought it was a good start to the story! :) Yeah, in my imagination Willow totally connected really hard with that freezer door, like she was going waaaaay too fast with the frozen pizza or something. I've hit my head before but have not knocked myself out.

Glad you liked Dr. Angel catching Buffy talking smack about him! I always both love and hate those uncomfortable and embarrassing moments in TV shows and movies. Cringeworthy, is what I called them. Thanks, as always, for being the first to leave feedback for a new story! :D
viximon

Thanks viximon! I'll have an update ready on Tuesday. Thanks!
Grayson

Hey Grayson, when I was reading up on petit mal seizures I read that people don't often realize when they've had one, same thing with temporal lobe seizures. I've never been a big fan of petit fours, so we won't fight over them if we find ourselves at a party together where they're being served. Glad you like Angel, I like him too. And we'll have some Tara in the next chapter - in three dimensions! :lol
caz

Thanks for reading, Caz! Next chapter is coming up soon.
SithLordWiccan

Thanks Sith - I hope you enjoy it!
Lonewolf22

Hey Lonewolf22 - glad you think DD is interesting! I think that Willow will be okay eventually - no permanent vision or memory damage is done. Of course, I'm not a doctor - and sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. I agree, Dr. Angel is Buffy's type even though she denies it. Thanks!
russ

Hey Russ - yay, intriguing! That's what I was going for. Yeah, Buffy isn't necessarily likeable as such, but she's definitely devoted to Willow and being Willow's friend. Hopefully it will be fleshed out a little more how she became friends with Willow. I say hopefully, but I guess I can say - yes, it will be explained a bit more. To be continued, and thanks for reading!
watty

Totally, fortnights of downtime rule! I wrote a goodly chunk of this back when I was in the middle of UberSmut, though, to give myself something else to focus on while cranking those smutty updates out. And you've been promising a spreadsheet for over a year, watty - don't tease me with it now! ;)

Yeah, Willow's a good patient - and nothing if not committed to her health, or at least acquiesing with the demands of authority. Yeah, the headache will cause something, all right. I'm glad that you thought it wasn't too exposition-y, I wanted to get us right into the action while still having clues and information about who all and what all is going on here.

I'm so glad you're working on gl, too - I can't wait for you to start posting it!!!
Thianne

Thanks Vale! I will definitely continue. Glad you're reading!
DaddyCatALSO

I'm happy to hear that you think it's a hookable hook - I was intrigued when thinking of the premise, and how to flesh out this premise. I wonder if you're imagining the story going in the same direction it is, or different. Time will tell! Thanks for reading!
mole

Hee hee, Michelle, you caught the no caffeine! Yes, a Willow without a mocha is like a fish without a bicycle. Or is it??? ;) I'm glad you're intrigued and looking forward to more, there will be more soon!
Emms

Dude, Emmy, that board wackiness always happens right after I post a new story. I think I must be the cause of the board going down. So to speak. Three times, really? And what's a tuppon?

Glad you like the premise- I think a lot of AU/alternate dimension stories exist, and I knew that, and I had a specific idea that may or may not be original, but I'm having fun writing it. And heh about the petit fours, I can just imagine that Buffy had read petit mal or petit fours or both in some magazine like Glamour or Cosmo and got them mixed up. Yeah, poor Buffy's mom can't catch a break no matter what world it is. Alas, the Joyce!

*gasp* This Willow is not a voluntary caffeine drinker?!

Indeed! So I wonder what else is different about her? And yeah, Buffy's trying to play it all cool with the Dr. Angel thing, but everyone sees through it. Heh. :D More soon!
db

Hey db, yay that you're reading! I'm excited too! Yeah, poor Willow's noggin - but she got great care from Dr. P. It's not the norm for a doctor to wheel his patient out, that's usually for orderlies or for volunteers, but I figured that Sunnydale Hospital is probably pretty small and not quite as busy as it usually is if there are no vamps in the area. :D Thanks for reading!

Hey Debra - yeah, I said Thursday, but I can be capricious. Ooh, I'm glad you think this doesn't disappoint - I hope the rest of the chapters live up to expectations. I'm glad that many people have picked up on the Danny/Oz parallel, although I suppose it wasn't the most subtle thing in the world. And yeah, I didn't want to just do a laundry list of things that are different in Willow's world since more will be revealed in time.

HEH - I guess ten minutes is a long time. I guess I imagined she (Buffy) was doing something else so wasn't only trying to have a conversation with Willow. But heh, your non-conversation dialogue made me laugh. And re: tests - that Willow, she has great insurance, if nothing else. Ira and Shelia make sure of that. Carry a small notepad, LOL!

Thanks for reading, Debra! :D

Hey Brandy, I'm so glad you're excited and that you're liking DD! Yep, some things are the same, and some are different. Probably some other things will be different, too...or eventually the same? TBD. Glad you're looking forward to the rest! I'll post another update soon.

Yeah, it's kind of challenging to write a normal Willow, and it helps to make it more challenging not to use her personality quirks as shorthand. Probably the biggest challenge is figuring out who she is in and of herself apart from canon Willow, and I mean that as a writer and for her self-discovery as well.

I seem to remember Willow saying somewhere that she avoided caffeine, most of the time, anyway, because it turns her into a complete spaz. I always figured she went the non-caffeinated mocha route. YMMV.

The whole spaz line comes from "Halloween," a conversation between Willow and Buffy:

Buffy: You're missing the whole point of Halloween.
W: Free candy?
B: It's come as you aren't night. The perfect chance for a girl to get sexy and wild with no repercussions.
W: Oh, I don't get wild. Wild on me equals spaz.

I'm pretty sure canon Willow drinks a lot of caffeine (or at least canon Willow in this story does...)

Thanks Captain! Glad you like the start.

MARY! Hi Mary!!! You're not a bad kitten at all. I'm glad to see you!

Hee, the anal retentive in me loves hearing from the anal retentive in you. And I'm quite :blush to read what you say about the structure of the writing - I strive to make it "tight." (Although with the first drafts, it's not very tight usually, so I owe a lot to Mrs. Beta.) And yes, while in previous stories I wrote from different perspectives in different chapters, I envisioned this story being told solely through Willow's eyes (or at least, only her thoughts - there will be a scene or two where she's not there, later on).

Heh, people who know me in RL would be shocked to hear that someone said that I didn't build up a joke - usually in RL when I tell a joke I pause, and say "get it?" or tug at people's sleeves to make sure they got it. Heh.

Poor Willow got a severe knock on the head. Something may be awry on the inside of that busy brain - I guess we'll see in the next chapter! Thank you so much, Mary, for reading and your comments.

Oooh!!! Cool idea for a story! Concussions definitely suck, they are a major annoyance as are tests. What will this lead to? Tell me! Tell me! Hehe, Dr. Angel/Pretentious is a good addition. Great awkward moment with Buffy.

Nice beginning! Definally worth the wait. Buffy's funny to me for some reason. The whole talking about Dr. Angel, and talking to Willow while she was passed had me laughing. Continue!! :D

Hi Sally!

It's a real treat to see a new story from you! The sureness of your writing has already hooked me and I'm looking forward to following this story as it unfolds. I gotta say, though, I've had three concussions, including a particularly nasty one involving a five foot fall onto linoleum head first, and never has the hospital done more than a quick workup, followed by a neck brace, and instructions for home care. Me, I'm thinking Willow's in an AU, one in which health care is actually prioritized in the United States...

Hey Guppy, I agree that concussions are annoying, and tests, too, especially when you're sick. Glad you liked Dr. Angel. Where will this lead? We'll find out soon! :) Thanks for reading.

Glad you thought it was a nice beginning, thank you! Yeah, poor Buffy is a bit of a ditz, but she means well. Thanks for reading!

Ha ha, Blue, that's a good point that in our dimension health care isn't nearly so prioritized as in Willow's. Heh! There are a few other differences as well, which we'll find out about both sooner and later. Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy the rest!

Part 2 - Vision

Four days later, Willow's headache had gone, and for that she was grateful. The throbbing in the back of her head had persisted for two days, and the drugs she had taken had dulled the pain, but hadn't killed it completely.

Her vision was another matter, though. Dr. Angel had told her that her peripheral vision had been slightly off in the hospital, and that still seemed to be the case. But it wasn't loss of vision that troubled her - rather, she seemed to be catching glimpses of things that weren't actually there when she turned her head. Mostly it was little flickers that she could pass off as tricks of the light, but after seeing dishes on the kitchen table out of the corner of her eye that disappeared when she turned to clear them, she was concerned enough to tell Buffy.

"I know I leave the dishes out a lot, Will - I'm trying to be better."

Willow shook her head. "No, that's not what I mean. The dishes were there - and then they weren't. They just...disappeared."

"How is that possible?" Buffy asked, guiltily picking up a stray water glass from the coffee table.

"It's not," said Willow. "I'm a little worried."

"Well, you have a follow-up appointment with Dr. P. on Monday, right?" Buffy peeked under the couch and unobtrusively retrieved a small plate that had been out of sight.

"Yes," Willow said. "But I wonder if I should call him sooner."

"It can't hurt," Buffy replied, carrying the dirty dishes into the kitchen.

So Willow had called, and Dr. Angel had an opening Friday morning. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and Willow walked from her apartment through downtown Sunnydale on her way to the hospital. As she stood on the corner of the main street waiting for the light to change, her gaze fell on the shop across the street. Middle Earth was its name and it sold a variety of new age products, scented candles, soaps, and books. Willow had never been inside, preferring the practical familiarity of the bookstore down the street to the esoteric displays and whiffs of patchouli that emanated from the new age store.

As she waited for the light to change, her vision blurred momentarily. She blinked a few times, trying to clear her head. The Middle Earth sign swam in front of her eyes, looking for a moment like it said...

"It says walk."

The annoyed voice of a man standing behind her at the curb startled her out of her reverie.

"Um, sorry," she said, stepping out of his way.

"Are you all right?" His tone softened as he saw her obvious confusion.

"Yes, I'm fine," she said, distractedly rubbing her temple.

"Okay," he said, and walked out into the crosswalk.

Willow gasped as a car came speeding down the main street, heading straight for the man. She blinked again, and the car was gone. The man shot her a curious glance as he hurried off.

Shaking her head, she stepped off the curb. At that moment a blinding bolt of white pain tore across her vision, taking her breath away. She fell to her knees, the heels of her hands pressed to her eyes as a roaring sound filled her ears. Was this what an aneurysm felt like?

And then just as quickly as it had come, the pain was gone. She took her hands from her eyes and gingerly stood up. Dusting off her jeans, she walked the rest of the way across the street.

She took stock of herself - everything seemed to be intact. Taking a deep breath, she started to continue on her way. As she passed Middle Earth, she glanced up at the sign...

...and stopped dead in her tracks.

"Magic Box?" she said in disbelief.

At that moment the front door of Middle Earth - no, the Magic Box - flew open and a blonde girl came rushing out.

"Willow, you're late!" the blonde girl said. "When did you change? I liked that skirt you were wearing yesterday. C'mon, we're going to be late." She took Willow's hand and started off down the street in the opposite direction from the hospital.

"Wait..." Willow said, bewildered.

"Oh, right, sorry," said the blonde. She turned to Willow with a grin and kissed her full on the mouth.

"I missed you."

Dibs, dibs, dibs :pinky :pinky :pinky

Hey and good morning. I love the update. You're right that it's short but I think it's short and the perfect length. I mean you do exactly what you need to do here, namely lay out the time line since Willow's episode, show her symptoms, intensify them, and leave the reader and Willow completely mystified.

I like the effect of the things she's seeing out of the corners of her eyes. Isn't that something that we've all imagined when we're tired or have a headache? But for her it seems much more tangible. And then to be sucked into this other dimension (canon or other AU)? or at least that's what it seems.

Now I have to admit that you've given me a very vague outline or idea for this story. But I also have to say that I had assumed that the Willow in the "into" dimension would be dead/missing, whatever... opening the way for new Willow and Tara to meet, smooch, etc. But Tara asks when Willow changed clothes and says she missed her so I think we can assume that Willow is alive and well and just went to class or something and will be returning (to much french-farce type interaction I'm sure). I'll be facinated (well duh, of course I'm facinated) to see how the assumed 1-Tara, 2-Willow situation works out.

Also, I haven't gotten from the first post that Willow was gay, newly or otherwise so this showing up and getting kissed "full on the mouth" might be a bit of a shock. Interesting to see how that goes.

Can't wait for more.
