Degrassi: The Next Generation - Palex

Postby Alia16 » Sat Oct 18, 2003 10:24 pm

Does anyone watch Degrassi: The Next Generation? I really like it. It's a canadian TV Series, but they run it here in the US too. Right now they are running a story about being gay. It's a boy/boy story unfortunately, but I didn't think it's cool/important that they touched on that subject. I also find the show to be very right on about situations us teens have to go through...I'm just really love it. It's 100% INTENSE!

Ooh, you know I've missed the next generation. I've wanted to watch it and I just never catch it.

I saw the original and it was something I really loved when I was young. They had a gay story back then, ok one episode but they treated it so well it really made me happy. Caitlin was soooooo cute, big crush! big!

I am sure the new show is just as good.

Ooooooooooh Degrassi!!!!!!!!

I can't say that I've sat down to watch a whole episode, but it's just so ubiquitous. I love it!

And that doesn't look like a word. :( I need sleep!

Is there a hyphen in anal-retentive?

I watched the original Degrassi series years ago and have seen some of the other series that followed. I think the Next Gen show is the best of them all. Unfortunately I haven't been paying much attention to the show this season because they wrote out my fave character, Ash, and in a very clumsly way at that. But I can tell you from past ep's that they aren't afraid to tackle anything, so much so that the network in the U.S. regularly edits them for content - which is to say, they cut out all the stuff about abortion, casual drug use (without immediate teriible consequences) etc that they don't think Americans can deal with on their tv. It's all on the dvd's though, and it runs uncut here in Canada.

Wow I didnt know there was a thread for this lol
I watch both new and old show's on The N....I don't like all the petty drama but I'll be damned if I said I wasn't totally addicted to this show! Being 18 watching Jumior High kids and their problems is laughable at best :) But Im enjoying the new season and it's goin great!

From AfterEllen...

DEGRASSI: THE NEXT QUEER GENERATION
Looks like those rumors about a girl coming out on Degrassi: The Next Generation this season were true. I don't want to include too many spoilers here, since we're going to post a full-blown article on the upcoming lesbian storyline soon, but it begins November 28th in Canada (which means it will probably air in the U.S. in the Spring) and involves a dance, a kiss, and the requisite "what does this mean?" morning-after conversation. Because lesbian relationship processing knows no age or geographical boundaries.

If you want to be a bit spoiled, there's a new interview.

I saw the second part tonight (it's a two part episode) and it looks like they're actually gonna do something with this storyline (yay!) so we'll see what happens next.

I watched the second part of this last night too, and I thought they did a nice job with it. As I mentioned before I haven't been watching the show regularly this season since they dropped my favorite character, but if they continue to feature this relationship I might have to start watching every week again. This pairing happens in the fifth season, for those of you who might not be getting the newest ep's yet.

I used to hate the original series after being forced to watch episode after episode in school (some parts were painfully cheesy!), but I find myself oddly addicted to the new series. I started watching the story line with the two girls because of my Kevin Smith addiction, and have been frantically watching back episodes ever since. :)

Ok, i swear since I saw degrassi last year I was a bit disappointed with the ending of Palex, the lesbian relationship. However, since then I've realized the storyline was very well done and not really a few episode arc. It had a longer background than that since Paige and Alex had a hate build up for so long (kind of reminds me of Babylon 5 and Talia and Ivanova in that way). I am surprised more lesbian stories don't use this tried and true recipe for romance!

Anyway, the reason I post is that spoilers suggest:

Spoiler:
that Palex is coming back! YAY!! I hope hee. Spoilers suggest that Alex and Paige may be more than friends. And let's not forget, Alex the stripper! HOT!

In conclusion, I can't wait till Degrassi returns which unfortunately sounds like it won't be till march :( sad!

If you look at my avatar, you can tell I love this news :love

Palex is one of my favorite couples. It would be amazing if they ever got back together again, sometime, in the future.
There's a moment when I look at you. And no speech is left in me.
My tongue breaks, then fire races under my skin.
And I tremble, and grow pale. For I am dying of such love.

Great avatar, Lucian!

They're so sweet together. Paige is a great match for Alex. I love the ep where Paige is pissed at Alex and Hazel for fighting all the time. Alex goes around showing how whipped and in love she is by going out of her way several times to try and make Paige happy. It's so damn adorable.

I don't want to spoil anything for anybody since the US is horribly slow in airing the rest of this season, but damn. I'm so happy they got a happy ending this season. I love this couple. So damn adorable.

Oh yeah Kathy, adorable! Can't trust anybody so who knows what will happen next season but for now happy cute couple!

I found this on the internets, a compilation of all their moments, it has the spoilery stuff that hasn't aired in the us though so if you're waiting for that, don't download!

Thanks so much Xita for this! I've heard about Degrassi before, but never really brought myself to really get invested in this series, so... yay for Palex compilation! All the goodness without having to thread through other storylines I wouldn't've cared for anyway... heh.

In the same "On Noggin" way that Degrassi has is "South Of Nowhere". It's the same basic idea: teens have teh big problems. And major drama....and no one understands them, dammit! :D
Execpt "South of Nowhere" is focused mainly on a relationship between two girls...everything else is filler, as far as my interest is concerned. Seriously, the main protagonist has a slashy, slashy friendship with her hot friend that does indeed become something more.
I found it online the other night while nothing interesting was on real TV. And proceeded to watch for hours. If you're into that whole Degrassi-addictive teen ANGST!-thing, it's pretty sweet. And a lot gayer.

Degrassi is coming back to the N in about a week with all the Palex goodness episodes.

I am sure there's a SON thread here somewhere. South of nowhere is dead to me. Season 2 killed it and I don't think they'll make me watch it again and from the little I've read about next season, it's not getting better, and somewhat less gay as well. I put up with SON because of the gay factor but really the writing and acting is much worse than Degrassi.

Palex is all of the good!
