Well, I'm going to try to sneak away on my lunch break to the bank, talk about refinancing my home. I purposely put this off until Thursday! With a little luck, I'm hoping to wrangle my finances such that I'll have enough leftover for a new car! If all that works out, it will be one of the happiest Thursdays I can remember!

Mrs. Gorn is cooking something special tonight. I'm guessing linguini & clams by extra-flamey candlelight, but she actually hasn't hinted at anything yet. She always cooks up a storm, though, when she's got the day off - whatever it is, it will likely be pretty damn good because she's the best cook I know.

After dinner, we'll probably retire to the living room with whatever's left of the wine and start Disc 2 of my 40-Disc Complete Buffy Collection!!

And just think - it's not even Friday yet!!

Well I'm late to the party, but I too heft my glass.

And a triple toast because.... (drum roll please...)

It didn't rain today! :dance

Splendiforous.

Driving over the Missouri River the past couple days has been a real trip; the water is insanely high, with water well over the banks and inundating the areas behind the, uh, dikes.

Which leads me to this tangent:
My ex and I once went on a biking/camping trip. Our first night we stayed in a small campgroud along the river. After we settled down, two good old boys who were camping a little ways away wandered over, said hello, and said they were there to see the dykes.

Or at least that's what we heard.... turned out they meant those clever devices that were holding river water back... but definitely made for an odd few moments.

thanks woahnellie, and welcome to the board.

Neither me nor mine is in any danger from flood waters, thank goodness.

I know people with crops that are ruined, but that's all.

Upriver though? Ouch. They really got creamed. Whole houses (and sometimes towns) are submerged.

glad you are in no danger. i read about in online, sounds pretty bad. crops being ruined are bad, especially for people who depend on the income

I foresee a damn good Thursday ... the boss is out of town today!! :pinky

Ever since I discovered this thread and Thursday became the great day it is (actually, it was ALWAYS great, I just didn't realize it at the time), Wednesday night has become like a little Friday night for me. Mrs. Gorn made my second favourite meal last night - linguini & clams - and we ate it on the sofa while watching Buffy 2.3 "School Hard" (got the complete boxed set and we're working through it from the very beginning - I actually haven't seen most of the episodes, and NONE of the first 3 seasons). Mrs. Gorn is a big Spike fan, so she was surprised to see him turn up so early in the series.

Anyway, we had a great meal, watched some Buffy goodness, and went to bed feeling like all was right in the world. And if that's not good enough, I wake up the next morning and it's Thursday already!!! Boss is out of town, tomorrow is Friday, weather looks great over the weekend ... I love Thursday!

This isn't Thursday related, but in last night's episode we got to see Willow dance (for lack of a better word) at the Bronze for the first time ... and she dances EXACTLY like Mrs. Gorn. I teased her all night about that, but in an affectionate sort of way.

EDIT:
Beer? At least let me finish my morning tea first!

Alright, twist my arm, why don't you? I'll have a beer.
I spent most of my money on liquor and women,
The rest I wasted.

mmm beer.

happy thursday gorn, bosch, and all you thursday lovers. mine has started out crappily - no hot water, stuck for 40 min in traffic on my "shortcut" (which everyone else apparently discovered), late to work, etc.

BUT my boss is out of the office for a bit, i'm rocking out to the new tori cd and working on my resume, and two weeks from today i will be in key west for a week. woo and hoo.

Ooooo.... ahhhhh.... vacation. ktv, I envy you.

I was recently confronted with one of the big bonuses of starting work ungodly early and ending unreasonably late: I miss both rush hours!

Gorn: as for morning beers: why not? virtual beers, and to the best of my knowledge there are no virtual breathalizers. Just don't play any virtual driving games and you're virtually all set.

:smash I just like that thingy there. It makes me happy.

vacation yes, but i also have to do all sorts of wedding things on said "vacation" so it starts to seem like a working vacation or something. ah, the burden of being "best chick" - i jest. i'm very excited about the whole enchilada. perhaps i shall send you a postcard or a picture of me lounging about at pearl's with a couple of hotties and a margarita.

and when i come back sunburned, hungover, and depressed, you can say that some people say there's a woman to blame for my condition. but i'll say nay, it's my own damn fault.

i just looked at the pearls link and i think i kind of hate you ktv.

i hope you drown in your margarita, ms. buffett.

and by hate, you mean "worship the ground you walk on ktv."

i just realized that i'll come back to work post-vacation on a thursday. i hope that doesn't sway my feelings of this glorious day.

p.s. i LOVE your signature, my friend. it is a tough burden to bear, isn't it?

What's that, MKF? It's Thursday again? Well, hot damn! And payday to boot! :pinky

Everyone out there got a 3-day weekend coming up? With a little luck, Mrs. Gorn & I might finally be going to see Spiderman at the IMAX! Mrs. Gorn hates crowded movie theaters, though, which is why we've waited so long ... so the odds of making it a double-feature w/ Pirates are probably zero to none. Ah, well. Another 2 or 3 weeks and I'll probably get to see it.

Happy Thursday Gorn!

Richard went to see the Spiderman movie and he says it was way to long and he didn't really like it, I could not say though, not been to seen it yet, hope Mrs. Gorn and yourself enjoy the film though!

Yeah, I'm hearing mixed things about it, too. I'm a little concerned when they start including so many villains ... Batman went down that road, and the movies got steadily worse & worse. In the end, though, I'm usually pretty easy to please at the movies - I go looking to have fun, not to be a critic. A movie has to be pretty bad for me not to enjoy it.

Yes, I suppose the most important thing is that your enjoying together time with Mrs. Gorn, and that should be fun enough to last through any movie, bad or good. Still I like the whole cinema experiance, popcorn, cola all the lights go out..

Exactly. We don't seem to get out much anymore, but I used to be a big theater buff in my younger days. Loved the whole experience. If it was a movie I liked, I'd go so it three or four times.

Last movie I saw in the theater was Memoirs of a Geisha ...

Yeah, I totally get what you mean, I get excited when I go to the cinema, I just love it, but, like you, I don't go that often. Mind you I am going more than I use to, the next movie I will probably go to see is the next Harry Potter movie, the trailer looks fantastic!
