I, for whatever reason, haven't caught a lot of "How I married.............."but I saw this weeks (11-5) about her credit card problem. Those clothes!!!! How awful. Seems whomever decides on what she wears needs a kick in the butt. She's so cute and I have a giant case of the hots for her but if I met Aly in those..............."come on girl, let's go shopping".

Has anyone heard how the show's going to be affected by the writer's strike?

Basically, it has shut down production, and Alyson and the rest of the cast have been marching with the writers.

Slag? Bad choice of words. That's sometimes used to describe people who step in to work during strike time. Another word for them is "scab." Aly and Alexis have shown they are anything but.

Yes, SLW, but as the other posters have pointed out, the word has some seriously nasty other meanings.

I would strongly suggest that you stop using this word as a substitute for the common cuss word. Perhaps you might consider adopting the cute word from the "Farscape" universe: "dren". :)

Oh my God, how hilarious was that? Lily being a loud chewer, I almost fell off my chair laughing when she started munching on the cotton candy... the sound effects were really funny this episode, heh.

I'm not quite sure if it was her or not, but Cathy, Ted's new talkative girlfriend of the episode, reminded me of Liz Vassey!?

I'm curious as to what will be in store for us next episode, seeing as slapcountdown.com is drawing closer and closer to the inevitable zero (for Barney that is)! :p

This being the first episode I've seen in a while, since I've had to work the rest of the time and have yet to do so, I'll chime in with my two cents.

I agree. I just had to laugh every time I heard the "broken glass". And unlike most one note jokes, it didn't get old quick.

I dunno, but it's gonna be a laugh finding out. I was expecting him to get slapped this week, to be honest.

I know! What, did the wardrobe people decided to save money by breaking into the BtVS storage bins and raid Willow's wardrobe? That second dress is a direct descendant of Crazy-Birthday-Cake T-Shirt!

I was asking myself a not dissimilar question as I watched HIMYM this week as well...did Aly once have a run-in with someone in the TV wardrobe union and here ever after she is doomed to have bad wardrobe whatever show she is on?

With the strike over, HIMYM is going to return on March 17 for 9 episodes, making a total of 20 for this season.

CBS announces return dates for 14 shows

NEW YORK - CBS has set return dates for 14 prime-time series, including "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two and a Half Men."

The network set the dates as Hollywood writers returned to work Wednesday after a three-month strike.

"How I Met Your Mother," "Two and a Half Men" and "The Big Bang Theory" will return March 17. Producers will make nine new episodes before the season ends.

"CSI: Miami" and "Cold Case" will return in late March. Others are set for early April returns, including "CSI" on April 3.

Ohmygod, I love this show completely, and I'm positively geeked that we get THAT many more episodes this season. Come to me Lilypad... Thanks for the link.

And will someone, for the love of god, tell me how Two and a Half Men is STILL on. Effin' a!

That's really good news. HIMYM is one of my favorite shows at the moment. Too bad that none of Finnish TV channels has shown any interest in it. It was only because of Aly that I checked it out, and I'm glad I did.

I'm glad to announce that I was wrong. I didn't know it when I wrote that, but HIMYM starts at Finland tomorrow. Broadcasting time is not very good (1:55 pm) and they have fucked up the name (it's by the name of "ensisilmäyksellä", which means "at first sight"), but better than nothing I guess.

I really do think Finnish is the most musical-sounding of all the Northern European languages. :)

To get back on topic, I should mention that I very much enjoyed this Monday's repeat, "Dowistrepla". It is one of the funniest episodes of this truncated season ("What he/she/we SHOULD have said was... :lol), and was a wonderful acting showcase for AH as "shop-a-holic" Lily. :lol

I wouldn't say the season's truncated. The first two seasons were both 22 episodes, with Season 3 being 20 thanks to the writer's strike ending when it did. Saying it's "truncated" implies there's less episodes than normal, when that's clearly not the case. If the writer's strike was still going on, the chances of getting those 9 new episodes is pretty much null, and then the season would have been truncated.

Not trying to be rude or anything, though. Just giving my two cents on the issue.

CBS Renews Slew of Shows

Fans of the Tiffany network can do the happy dance. CBS has renewed 11 scripted shows for the 2008-2009 TV season. The lucky 11 are: CSI; CSI: Miami; CSI: New York; NCIS; Criminal Minds; Cold Case; Without a Trace; Ghost Whisperer; Numb3rs; Two and a Half Men; and The Big Bang Theory.

There are not a lot of surprises in this bunch, although it's great news that The Big Bang Theory, CBS's rookie Monday-night sitcom from Chuck Lorre's stable, made the cut. Still in limbo, however, are three other Monday-night comedies from the network: How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, and The New Adventures of Old Christine. The story speculates that Mother will get the greenlight for a fourth season soon, but Rules and Christine seem to be in competition for the 9:30-10:00 half-hour slot.

And now, to confuse things, HIMYM is moving back to 8:30.

CBS Swaps 'Mother,' 'Big Bang'
CBS switches 8 p.m. comedy block starting in March
February 20, 2008

'When CBS' Monday night comedy block returns with new episodes in March, the night will have a slightly different look.

The network announced on Wednesday (Feb. 20) that effective Monday, March 17, "The Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" will swap positions in the 8 p.m. ET hour.

"The Big Bang Theory," which has already been renewed for next season, will bring its average audience of 8.36 million to the 8 p.m. slot.

"HIMYM," which has yet to be renewed, has averaged 8.02 million for the season and will return to the 8:30 slot when it kicked off last year. The comedy aired only three times at 8:30 last season before CBS moved it to 8:00 and pushed "The Class" to 8:30.

CBS' Monday will go "The Big Bang Theory," "HIMYM," "Two and a Half Men" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine" into April 14, when "Rules of Engagement" returns to the 9:30 slot.

"It's Britney, Ted!"

Hee, this should be fun. I don't care if she's gonna screw up this opportunity, I kinda like Britney and her crazy antics... Put her on the show! I can so picture it already, Barney vs. Britney... teehee, legendary anyone?

ETA: And reportedly Alicia Silverstone was also supposed to be in the same episode, but backed out claiming it would be too "chaotic". Sources say she's a big fan of the show and still wants to guest star in a later episode.

Re: How I Met Your Mother

Postby Incarnadine » Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:16 pm

With How I Met Your Mother back in production after the writer's strike, the media is reporting that Britney Spears is a big fan and contacted the show about appearing in a bit role. The producers gave her the part of a "sweet-natured" receptionist at a dermatologist office. Interestingly enough, the dermatologist was to be played by Alicia Silverstone who backed out at the last minute when she heard about Britney's casting. Reports range from Alicia not wanting to be upstaged by the troubled pop star to "avoid what she assumed to be a totally chaotic scenario", according to E! News. The part of the dermatologist will now be played by Scrubs star Sarah Chalke.

This episode is the third one filmed since the writer's strike ended. With new episodes starting next week on the 17th, expect the Britney episode to air around three weeks after that.

Alyson commented on the Britney appearance to E! News saying "I have been quite impressed by Britney’s performance. The character she is playing is very sweet and endearing, which seems to come naturally to her. Not to mention, she has good comedic timing, which helps, given we’re a sitcom.”

The writers strike must have impacted HIMYM more than I thought. That's about the only explanation I can come up with to rationalize how they could do something as incredibly lamebrained as casting Britney Spears as...well, anything on the show.

And I'm surpised that both Aly and NPH have spoken so highly of her, considering the train wreck her life has been for the past year. Have neither of them read a paper or watched a celebrity news show? Then again, maybe they were threatened to do so. Somehow I doubt they're really that happy to have her on the show.

It is a credit to Alyson that she went the route of tactful diplomacy to make that statement about working with Britney rather than truthfully admitting that Britney scared the hell out of everyone on the set and they were just waiting for her to snap and perform another bizarre feat of bad judgment.
Alyson likes the steady paycheck that a weekly series gives her so she knows which side of the bread gets buttered.
Now if only they would do an episode where Aly gets slathered in butter.

Hi.

Quick question: Do you folks really know what happened on the set or are you all just speculating?

Despite the fact that I'm no fan of Britney Spears, I think it does Aly a huge disservice to put all these unsubstantiated words and thoughts into her head. Unless there is an actual account of what happened on the set and exactly what everyone thought, maybe we should try to be supportive instead of assuming that Aly had a gun to her head.

Just a thought.
