In the Jungle: What song is stuck in your head?

Postby JustSkipIt » Sun Jan 27, 2008 4:04 pm

Not what song gets stuck in your head the worst, but what song is stuck in your head right now? I get songs stuck in my head all the time, possibly because we've started watching The Backyardigans which is a really fantastic pre-school show with dancing and singing but the songs are insidious. Between that and those free-credit report songs, my head is full all the time.

Right now I have two songs in my head simultaneously: Amy Winehouse's I don't want to go to Rehab and Pop Goes my Heart, the spoofy 80s song from Music and Lyrics.

Thanks to B, the song I have in my head for the past week is a song from the mid 80s if I remember correctly. I was a kid and I loved it, and recently I have rediscovered this with many laughs and pelasure. But it doesn't want to go away now.
The song is called "Vive Les Vacanes" , and it is sung by Dorothée.

Until I read the name of this thread I had no songs stuck in my head, but not now. Now all I'm getting is 'In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight...'

Thanks for that ;-)

One of my new HD channels had on a performance of La Traviata just a little earlier. I'm still humming "Libiamo ne' lieti calici." Not a bad thing at all, as far as songs that get stuck in your head go.

I spent the day with my girlfriend catching up on the show "Weeds," and now I can't get that "Little Boxes" song out of my head.

Just a side note: When I was researching topics for my Music History thesis, I dug around a little, contemplating a project about which musical elements of a tune makes it stick and loop in a person's head. I didn't find much information, so the paper never got written, but it is fun to think about. Especially if you're a huge geek like me.

Yep, that Backyardigans...

I have "We, We, zip zip zip from tree to tree" from the Tea Party episode in my head now.

BTW: I considered calling this thread "Walk like an Egyptian..."

"Lyin' Eyes" by the Eagles.

It won't stop, it just keeps looping and looping and looping.

Two for the time being...

The semi-classical piece from the movie Bhool Bhulaiya – "Mere Dholna". I love the tabla beats and they keep on resounding in my head.

Second one strangely is "Out of my Heart, Into Your Head" by BB Mak ,save for the fact that I have the lyrics mixed up constantly and in my own head the loop's as follows: Out of my head, into your heart.

The Puppini Sisters, this really cute singing trio from London do a remake of 'Walk Like An Egyptian' which is really good. They're a 40s style group like the Andrews Sisters and they also covered Kate Bush's 'Wuthering Heights' and Blondie's 'Heart of Glass'http://streetkiss.free.fr/26-janv-2008/The_Puppini_Sisters_-_Heart_Of_Glass.mp3.

Only their first album is available in the States now, but their second is just as yummy.

Every time I see this thread "Welcome to the Jungle" by GNR starts playing in my head...

My inner jukebox has also favored "Life is a Flower" by Ace of Base during last couple of days.

You do realize that everyone reading this thread is going to get at least one of the songs mentioned stuck in their heads? This is an evil and insidious thread...although I have often employed this trick with irritating people as telling you what the worst song they ever got stuck in their head was, will immediately bring it right back again ;-)

Right now I have Birdhouse in My Soul by They Might Be Giants stuck in mine...a real blast from the past as they say

I have a terribly sappy song we learned in choir called Dream a Dream stuck in my head. I don't know who it's by, but I find it rather annoying.

I looked it up and it's sung by Charlotte Church.

I hate doing this, but Boschi really ought to know better - "I Love Rock & Roll" was Joan Jett, not Pat Benatar.

I was just starting to hum "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," until dlline mentioned Wham! ... and if she hadn't, I wouldn't have caught it in Boschi's post. Now I'm skipping around the house in my CHOOSE LIFE white t-shirt. How embarassing ...
