Welcome to Thursday, Paint the Sky!
I really do not have the time to do this today, but it IS Thursday; I ought to make time to do the Right Thing. I seem to have become the unofficial cheerleader of this thread - or perhaps it is official, I don't know. I DO know Thursdays, though, so I'll be happy to explain.
In your heart, you already seem to have some understanding of how great Thursdays are. Fridays & Saturdays are great - nobody needs to be told this and these days don't really need their own thread. Sundays are OK ... but there's kind of a downer Sunday night when you're getting ready for bed, knowing what horrors await you the following morning. I am, of course, talking about Monday, the single most godforsaken day of the week. It is an abomination, a plague upon Humanity, a cross we all must bear each and every goddamn week. Tuesday & Wednesday are little better - even on Wednesday, "Humpday," you're still only halfway there. It can be disheartening. These days do not in the least warrant their own special thread. Yes, I know such threads exist, but I pay them no heed.
But Thursday! Ah! It's like rounding that last corner in the Kentucky Derby, coming into the home stretch. The goal is right there in front of you. You can see it! Thursday is like a mini Christmas Eve that you can celebrate, look forward to, and enjoy each and every week. It's like that first drink of cool, clear water after crossing the desert, MKF.
Since first discovering this thread a little over a year ago now, though, I've come to learn there's even more to it than that. It's not something I think I can explain; it's an intangible, abstract feeling. Almost spiritual. This thread has changed my life and the way I look at the world. It has made my burdens lighter. Spend a little time here, talk to the other Apostles, perhaps meditate upon it for a while; if you're one of the lucky, the few, the chosen ... you will come to understand just as the rest of us have.
Now, as for posting here on non-Thursdays? MKF frowns on it, but she's cute when she frowns. What are you gonna do? If it's still in the Spirit of the thread, I don't think there's really any long-term threat to your karma. Just don't make a habit of it.
Welcome, and Happy Thursday!
I spent most of my money on liquor and women,
The rest I wasted.
