Actually, the fact that a show like How I Met Your Mother, which was critically acclaimed and fresher and original than nine-tenths of all television programs these days prior to this, gets its biggest ratings ever thanks to the horribly miscast decision to bring onboard Batshit McFreakazoid, just goes to show you how much attention people were paying to the show beforehand.

I'm actually surprised now that it managed to stay on as long as it has, seeing as how this info paints it as being in the "high acclaim, low ratings, cancelled-by-end-of-season" list that most shows seem to go on, when it most certainly is not.

And of course, all I keep hearing these days about the show is Britney, Britney, Britney. There are plenty of other things to discuss about this show. This bit of stunt casting shouldn't even be on the board, let alone in the top three.

Britney was certainly not the highlight of this episode I agree (the two minute date was kickin'!), but I think she did a good enough job for what she was cast for. She could have played the character waaay over the top (like some of us expected her to I think), but she didn't do that and I'm glad she got the chance to somewhat salvage her busted image.

Next week we'll go back to our regular scheduled program and by then I'm sure you won't have to be forced into watching Britney anymore SithLordWiccan! :D

I dug the way this episode tied in with The Platinum Rule ep (y'know, the episode before the strike. Yeah that one). Don't you just love it when writers are smart enough to know that continuity creates happy viewers? coughthelwordcough

And I'm still waiting for Robin to hook up with a girl. I mean, is it just me or is she way hot when her jokes fall flat and she looks like such a cute doofus? I know I'm loving it.

For those of you that don't know, Robin (Colbie) played a lesbian on the L Word for two, maybe three episodes. I know this is off-topic, so... AlyAlyAlyAlyacupsAlyAlyAlyAly. There. Now it's relevant.

It's called publicity. The show managed to last two seasons without needing a ratings boost, so clearly a lot of people are paying attention. If anything Britney's guest spot did nothing but attract more viewers, which is a good thing for any show. But then again, that's just the optimist in me.

That's funny, cause all you seem to talk about is . . . Britney? Just stating the obvious.

True, but I'd have preferred that it had gotten more publicity for a better reason rather than because Britney was on (because, as I said, more attention was focused on her in the advertising rather than anything else, and almost every single bit of it made light of the fact that she didn't screw up.)

New HIMYM episode to rant on!

Man, IMO this week's episode just wasn't all that funny. The "joke" about Barney selling a woman for a car was really inappropriate and made me go wtf?! Human trafficking is NOT FUNNY. Seems like even Barney wouldn't stoop so low to do such a vile thing. Eh, maybe I'm getting too worked up over nothing. Watching the scene again, it's clear that it wasn't his intention to do such a asshole-y thing, but still... modern day slavery just doesn't get a chuckle out of me.

Anyway, I checked out tedmosbyisajerk.com and the song that plays in the background is hilarious. It runs on and on for 20 minutes or so and may be a clue to who the mother is! Okay maybe not, but I still think the woman who sings the song is hella funny!!

Robin was indeed "looking hot as all hell", hehe. I so hope they aren't setting up Robin and Barney together! Blech nuh-uh. If they do, it better be for the greater good, or else I might tune out. Seriously guys. I MIGHT!

Never seen Doogie Howser (blame it on the fact that I'm 21 and Dutch), but it was nice to see a reference there for the peeps who get a kick out of stuff like that. Now only if they could do something similar for us Kittens just like dlline's awesome idea proposes!

Curious to find out more about Barney's stalker (smart woman that). I for one hope it's Alicia (as in Silverstone).

Ooh and I want to order up more Lily dancing please!

ETA: I totally forgot Marshall's line about his list called "marriage license" and subsequently the high-five that followed. Now THAT was awesome. Geek love ftw!

Awesome episode but have you seen these two sites. The first, referenced by the waitress:

http://www.tedmosbyisajerk.com/

it includes a 20 minute song about what a jerk Ted Mosby is.

Also, Barney's Blog.

And did you see Aly's dancing. Truly horrendous. Great episode.

I mean, am I crazy, or are we entirely being set up to believe that Sarah Chalke IS "Your Mother"? *

[AND the stalker: she really IS protective of her Britney-played receptionist, apparently! ;-)]

GG * The major hint: Ted said, of the St. Pat's party, "your mother was there"---then Sarah Chalke mentions that the only time she'd been out lately, was "at a St. Patrick's Day party, but I left early". :smug Out

Loved the "Big Board", and the gang's opinions re "the Bracket"! :lol

I thought the exact same thing cuz of the St. Paddy's coincidence, GG. The only flaw in my theory (admittedly, it isn't necessarily a big flaw) is that I think Alicia Silverstone was originally supposed to play Sarah Chalke's character so it seems odd that the producers would be so willing to re-cast the pivotal Mother role.

Another (not very big) flaw in that theory is that, if I remember correctly, Chalke's character (Stella) had a child. During the show there has been no mention of a half-sister. Of course that doesn't have to mean anything.

Of the three episodes that have been aired after the writers strike, I think that the new one was the best. The thing with Barney's stalker was funny and there were lots of funny details: guys stealing a blackboard, Lily's dance, marriage license etc.

Hubba hubba and how INCREDIBLY HOT (and funny!) was seeing Aly in a suit, talking about getting it on? "Drive her home like a pack of sleddogs!" :D Sigh, I love it when she can go from achingly adorable to hot as hell in a split second.

Also the line "Ya hittin' that?" almost made me spill the milk I was drinking. Aly was so back in full force during this episode, I loved every second of it!

By the by, seeing Robin as a bad-ass gun crazed action hero was great too. This show rocks y'all!

Sarah Chalke is being set up to be the mother in the case that the show is not renewed. Which it has not yet been. So they need to have a fall back if they do not get picked up again for next year. If they do, I would bet you that it will not be her.

Hmm...no word on a renewal, and the news that Batshit McFruitcake is coming back in a week's time.

Coincidence? I don't think so.

Great news for a show that's been running a little "meh" on the funny meter. I personally think Britney looked like a piece of cardboard on screen, and was generally an unfunny distraction that I would rather have done without. It's also an eensie bit of a slap in the face that the one trick (or rather two trick) pony pushed them into renewal. 9 times out of 10 this show is a charmer, and the actors have really gelled into their roles. Glad to see they have another go at it. (And ohmystars, hooray that I get to see Aly and her... Just yay!)

Gotta disagree on the "meh" part, katjetson. Take, for example, last night's (5/12) episode, "Everything Must Go". Thanks to the writers, we got to see a part of Aly's extraordinary range that we don't usually see on this show as she flawlessly depicted a sad, upset, even angry Lily. The show also provided a wonderful chance to see AH in some really nice outfits ("daaaaaamn" as one character in the show remarks :wink )

The appearance of La Spears was OK--she seems to have some nice comic timing, and if it helped in the ratings and/or renewal, it's fine by me.

Sadly, I think the next episode is the Season Finale. **sniff**

May 19th's episode is indeed the last for this season. (Yay that isn't not a series finale!) Zap2it describes it this way: "An accident causes Ted to re-evaluate his life and his relationship with Stella."

It better not. Last thing the show needs (and which is sadly set up in the end of the latest ep) is yet another three minute cameo appearance by her.

Anybody go to http://www.lilyandmarshallselltheirstuff.com? It is all too crazy expensive for me but I love the "Soon to be classic artwork" entitled Loneliness is Asexual Reproduction. Love it!

It was indeed very nice to see an episode centred around Lily. And I think I need to uh... get out a little more or something cuz I had this weird 'totally looks like they're gonna kiss' sorta butterfly moment when Robyn leaned in to hug Lily.

Very happy to hear the show has been renewed!

Thanks for the link to that interview willowlove, I really liked it! ;-)

Hmmm... Alyson and Britney bonding over a puppy. :hmm Now there's a mental image I've never had before and never knew I would ever have, ha! :laugh

In my mid- to late 20s, I woke up and realized I was a woman [...] I'm shopping with a vengeance now

Heck yeah. :D

Also nice to read she and Alexis donate their clothes to Goodwill. The "but I accumulate and purge" thing is definitely something Lilly would do. :lol

Looking forward to the finale, though I notice not so much as I did after the strike was over. Oh well, we'll see in the morning (it's a quarter to midnight here right now. I should really go get some shut-eye!). For now, I wish U.S. Kittens a happy HIMYM finale viewing!
