Faith, hope, and love and the greatest of these is Faith, but enough about Eliza Dushku.
Those spots are well-written and informative given The Kids' preponderance towards cynicism.

ok, i just watched those clips, and what the heck is this 'hope' they're all going on about? half the time they are making it sound like the greatest thing that ever happened and the other half they are making it sound like some kind of curse. sorry if im being ignorant, i just dont quite get it.

Hope is the main theme of Barack Obama's campaign, Lifty. Because you are "down Under," this may not have been clear to you. This is part of a series of campaign youtube events that are in support of Obama's run for president. They are noting that hope across America has been lost over the past 7 years, but with Obama as a candidate it is reappearing. Clear now? :-)

I (still) don´t get it either. I did know about the hope message for what that is worth, but that weepy sound like they are about to burst into tears is, I assume, meant as some humorously intended (not working for me) clever reversed reverse reversed some more psychology to help get his message across, but it comes across as either not so well done over-acting in support of Obama or mocking of the man, neither seems helpful really.

I mean no disrespect, I am an ´oversea-er´ too, I do not follow the campaigns too closely and how I perceive this matters not, really, but I do know who I want to become the next president of the US and it is not a man, though as long as it will be a democrate it is fine by me, I´m just doubtful this helps.

Making hope sound like drugs or diseases or something that needs to be stopped is meant to be humorous, I think, but by making hope sound like a bad thing, they want to shake people up and make them take notice. They also to paint the opposition as hopeless. It's a neat trick, I suppose, but I don't know that it's the most effective strategy.

You non-USAmerica people who don't know what all this stuff about hope really means can join those of us USAmericans who have no idea, either. Obama talks about "hope" and "change" and "hope for change" a LOT, but he really doesn't make it clear what exactly he's hoping for or how he plans to accomplish it. It's a lot of really eloquent, moving, charismatic, inspiring rhetoric and not a lot of concrete details.

And I say that as someone who expects to be voting for Obama this November. I do lean toward Clinton, but I'm not crazy about her, either. I'll just be voting for whoever isn't the Republican candidate.

I think the joke is based on the criticism that Obama's campaign is 'nothing but hope', as if hope is somehow a bad thing. The ad is simply making fun of that, it's supposed to leave you feeling a little odd, because we all know Hope is a good thing, so saying that Obama's campaign is nothing but hope is like saying it's nothing but good things. Weird.

Incidentally, I'm not an American, so I'm not particularly following this campaign, other than what is covered on the Daily Show...

Anyway, that's my take on the ads
